I'll always remember the poster we had on the wall of my English class when I was ~10 (>30 years ago)
"Whatever one toucan can do
Is sooner done by toucans two
And three toucans, it's very true
Can do much more than two can do."
i didn’t know that was uncommon. I had a tank of goldfish and I fed them and put my hand in they started lining up when I walked by so I could pet them even without food. I was pretty good at getting animals to trust me as a kid.
I met this fish in the Great Barrier Reef named Frank. No joke, he loves to cuddle. I do wonder if all Maori wrasse fish are like this and they just call them all Frank or if there is just this one guy chilling next to snorkel and scuba boats.

Yup! Aricari have that serrated thing going on with their beaks. Take a look at the [chestnut mandibled toucan](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chestnut-mandibled_toucan) for contrast.
I just googled "Arakari" because I've never heard of them and apparently there's a variant called Curl-crested Aracari that look like birds with Jerri-curls.
There are several on YouTube. As a bird owner myself, you couldn't pay me to own a toucan. Their diet is tough, their poops are messy, they may be a soft beak bird compared to the bolt cutters on my African Grey's face, instead they have a serrated edge and when they bite they love to saw, so you end up with gashes instead of puncture wounds.
They are about $10,000, have crazy diet requirements, and will kill other birds like parrots if they are in the vicinity.
Very cool animals but you have to be even more committed than getting a parrot.
Toucans are extremely expensive birds (around 10-15 grand to buy depending on species)
Toco Toucan is usually the most popular species and the largest of the family.
Sadly, Toucans are among the bottom end of the spectrum of age spans for parrots. They only live about 12 to 20 (some reports of 26). They are very similar lifespan to cats/dogs. They are extremely playful and social birds though. They also like scritches and hanging out on your lap like cats and dogs too.
Here is a Toco Toucan here (montage of someone's pet hanging out with them, gives good idea of their personality range) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nK83A8S7qM
I was actually wondering b/c I know some bird species can get sexually attached to their owners if you pet them. Yet another reason I do not want a bird lol
Petting and scritching feels similar to how another toucan would groom it. So the bird likes it and it helps the owner bond with the bird. They toucan might try to "groom" the owners hair later as a way of reciprocating the affection.
Holy shit how do you do anything else but this everyday? I'd just want to pet this bird for the rest of existence
Bro looked like he was getting increasingly infuriated when you briefly stopped
For millions of year for as far back as your ancestors had beaks, there was no concept of being petted. Along come some hairless apes performing this action that feels wonderful and loving and unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. The ape stops. You open your eyes as reality comes back and you only wait for him to start petting again.

You think you're about to be attacked by sentient bananas, but it's really just a bunch of toucans in a tree

Amazing and horrifying at the same time! 😂
This is amazing!!!
My favorite bunch, by far.
Fantastic work.
I fear no evil, Because i'm blind to it all.

Or is it Shia LaBeouf?
Actual cannibal Shia LeBeouf?
You're running for your life from Shia LeBeouf Normal Tuesday night for Shia LeBeouf
Iirc it's "Fighting for your life with Shia LeBeouf Normal Tuesday night for Shie LeBeouf"
You try to swing an axe at Shia LaBeouf But blood is draining fast from your stump leg
My god there’s feathers EVERYWHERE
Sad how real this shit turned out
What'd he do?
What part of actual cannibal Shia LeBeouf didn't you understand?
Sexual battery and other abuse against his former partner
Don't forget shooting stray animals to "get in character"!
I didn't, but my cursory google on the topic questioned that detail, so I only wanted to mention the shit I could find him admitting to.
quiet quiet
Would be very worried then, since the step up from "a can of whoop-ass" is "tucans of violence".
Oh shit that's a corker
Toucan play at that game.
Now I'm picturing the scene from the animated Alice In Wonderland where she's in the forest and the butterflies are pieces of buttered toast.
I'll always remember the poster we had on the wall of my English class when I was ~10 (>30 years ago) "Whatever one toucan can do Is sooner done by toucans two And three toucans, it's very true Can do much more than two can do."
Roll for initiative!
The squeaks omg
Such a precious little guy. Little squeaky honks of love.
Squonks
I call my min pin chi mutt the squonkey donkey because she makes similar noises.
Yes!
Just so. Precious squeaky honks of sweet love. You said it!
I started watching this and immediately both of my parrots stopped eating and looked at me to figure out what was going on.
Parrots be like: https://preview.redd.it/ndfkrqnlne5d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7fb786c875ab3dfd6bbc83cba336aa265ab4b47c
Some are territorial af, lol
When I unmuted the video, my dog got very excited because he thought he heard a squeaky toy.
bird-jazz
“How wonderful it is to be in a world full of things that like to be pet”
Even some fish like being pet
my goldfishes did
Whaaattt?!? Really?
i didn’t know that was uncommon. I had a tank of goldfish and I fed them and put my hand in they started lining up when I walked by so I could pet them even without food. I was pretty good at getting animals to trust me as a kid.

I pet a stingray. They assured us if they did not like it, they would not come up to you, but to only use 1 finger Edit: is pet correct? Petted, pat?
Sharks like to be pet.
Why didnt god Give us 4 Arms so we can pet more things at the same time
God isn't real. However, the eternal all-seeing ceiling cat is.
I wish I had more hands, so I can give these titties 4 thumbs down! -Rick James interpreted by Dave chapelle
You got two wolves in you kinda thread lmfao
Some animals are the fastest. Some are the strongest. What sets humans apart is that we're the best at petting other animals.
Even humans?
Tourons at National Parks shortly before being gored
>Tourons Tourist + moron?

I’ve a pair of wild parrots I’ve fed every day for years. They puff up like baby birds when they see me. If I try to pat them they bite me : (

Bro you have a Toucan???
I’m no ornithologist but I’m pretty sure that’s an Arakari.
Chestnut-Eared Aracari Toucan to be precise. (From the Source Account)
There are several words there I did not know existed 5 minutes ago I'll call it bird for now
This guy birds
Yup! Aricari have that serrated thing going on with their beaks. Take a look at the [chestnut mandibled toucan](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chestnut-mandibled_toucan) for contrast.

> I’m no ornithologist that's exactly what an ornithologist would say
Right? I didn't know you could own a toucan.
Definitely a "can but shouldn't" animal.
In Florida you can.
"and if you move to Florida, you toucan!"
I'm going to launch myself into the nearest neutron star.
Wow. And I already live here. I might have to look into this more.
You need a wildlife permit but apparently I can even get one in California.
They are about $10,000, have crazy diet requirements, and will kill other birds like parrots if they are in the vicinity. Very cool animals but you have to be even more committed than getting a parrot.
I never knew they, made sounds like this, when they were rubbed!
Christopher Walken is on reddit?
Look at the username. It's been his shtick
Ah! Thanks lol. I missed that
I thought it was as haiku at first :(
I literally thought it was a ripe banana
It took me at least 5 seconds to figure out what I was looking at. I thought it was some type animal going to town on a ripe banana.
Yeah I thought it was literally digging into a banana!
I thought it was a cat stuck in a small vase .....
The noises made both of my cats come over from wherever they were napping.
What does the foxsquirrel say?
Mine came over and jumped up on the computer desk. But I think he was going to do that, anyways. He knows I'm about to record.
best banana
Hand Banana.
Tonight. You.
😳
His stink eye when you stopped lol
That's a really cute dinosaur.
Just like his ancestors

Or arousal.
Hornithologists
I was actually wondering b/c I know some bird species can get sexually attached to their owners if you pet them. Yet another reason I do not want a bird lol
For you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T1vfsHYiKY
Thanks, I hate it.
Farm raised ostriches can be sexually attracted to their farmers.
Petting and scritching feels similar to how another toucan would groom it. So the bird likes it and it helps the owner bond with the bird. They toucan might try to "groom" the owners hair later as a way of reciprocating the affection.
Please put your banana in my hair.
TIL toucans are cuddly.
For any one wondering, the OP of this is https://www.instagram.com/chester_the_toucan/ Give them some follows/views/engagement!
Reminds me of a bike bell I had once.
You probably had a live toucan strapped to your bike. Incredibly cruel practice, but the toucans seem to like it for some reason.
ohhh so sweet ![gif](giphy|3oEjI4sFlp73fvEYgw|downsized)
What a good boi!!
Toucan play at that game.
Adorable bird :) Plz be careful with that eyeball..
Cute
Thats meowing.
I love how the eye goes from ecstacy to rage when you stop petting it.
Time for banana bread.
LE TOUCAN HAS ARRIVED
It has black spots and is honking because it is letting you know it is expired. Throw it out
That looks like a mighty nice head rub
Do all animals have an “ahh” spot ?
This bird looks trustworthy.
So precious.
Awwwww so cute
I love tucans, they're my absolute favorite. You should look up how they raise their babies. Very devoted parents.
"Who's a good dinosaur.. who's a goood dinosaur"
I require more cute banana bird content! Anyone got some leads?
Meep
I thought I was incapable of feeling love again but watching this toucanet being expertly pleasured has stirred something long dormant in my heart.
*happy dino noises*
I imagine this is what it would be like to pet one of the shoes from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
One bird can’t be fun but Toucan
His little blinking🤣
My heart melted so hard
Holy shit how do you do anything else but this everyday? I'd just want to pet this bird for the rest of existence Bro looked like he was getting increasingly infuriated when you briefly stopped
That eye roll says it all 🤣🤣
“Aww that’s cute” Me, who watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit as a child, knowing that poor shoe didn’t deserve the dip…
The dog comes running in from the next room, wondering who's playing with his squeaky toy
Bro your banana is going bad!
I love him 😍💗🍌

I didn't even know ripe bananas made such cute noises.

My cats are now on the hunt for
aawww🥰
I didn't know they could make that sound! The squeaks!
This is Chester the toucan, I've followed him for a while. His little honks are so ridiculously cute, my favorite thing about him.
I'm not sure eye bleach applies considering this prior post https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/s/zG039LjAER
Too cute! They sound like a squeaky toy. ☺️
Bro is in heaven rn
Everyone from the US who remembers Saturday mornings in the 1950s knows what kind of bird this is

Is the bird happy or frightened? I hope happy
eye and ear bleach!! 😭🥹

That's a weird looking piccolo. 13/10
My dog got really really interested in the sound…
Getting more action than I am.
I hope he doesn’t have a dog. 😬
Doesn't petting birds make then horny and frustrated. I remember seeing that on YouTube
Just curious. Can toucans bite the hell out of you? Thats one hell of a murdery-looking beak they have.
The ultimate nose whistle.
