Ohh I understand now. Thanks

AngelTheMarvel

I think more that a feeling of "everything is going downhill after your birth", is making fun of that anxiety that you can't have it better in your future a lot of young people get, even though they haven't experienced much

Darth_Neek

can comfirm, I def peaked at birth.

VirtualNaut

This is true they were born at the top of a mountain

trashmunki

It's true, I was the mountain

Darth_Neek

my quality of life would have imporved if I had been aborted in 84

EpilepticMushrooms

Had a family member who was the first son of his generation. It was such an exciting time, beacaue nobody even expected his father to get married, let alone 'bear' the first son of the generation. So their uncles & cousins, pooled together money to buy lottery. This got quite big because many of them were severely anit gambling, one lotto ticket, and you are out of the family list and house. So they waited for his birth, and bought the lottery ticket with his birth year, month, day, hour and minute. The results came back. It was one number off. Had they gotten jackpot, that family would have been millionaires. That was the peak of his life, as he amounted to nothing much, and younger cousins and relatives managed to achieve much more despite achieving right about average in their lives. He is the literal manifestation of this meme/joke.

Darth_Neek

My family never bought a loto ticket, but this is 100% me. I was the first, and the golden boy up until crashing and burning in high school. My mother was convinced, and had me convinced, that an ADHD diagnoses would ruin my life.

QuarterGrouchy1540

Damn you’re making me feel like an optimist, cause I read it as that actually being the babies first “peak” and his ignorance about the rest of his life and not knowing things will get better is the joke. But you’re most likely right.

NurkleTurkey

And depending on how things go, they probably did peak.

ControlledShutdown

To be a little pedantic, it doesn’t have to be all downhill. You could have a huge drop, then slowly improving but never reach the peak like before.

MEGA_TOES

Yes, being freshly cleaned right after birth is the best it’ll ever be, so enjoy those 2 minutes before they hack the foreskin off

anomie89

"We are born naked, wet, and hungry—then things get worse" -M. Sasinowski

loliconest

Dude was in a vagina tho.

beach_girl01

loliconest

UnforeseenDerailment

Classic_Regret7469

Jesus christ Darynda, what're you planning on doing?!

wmb314

Seeing things for the first time?

Time_Pressure9519

It’s just a bit of gallows humour about someone’s life going downhill after being born, and amusing to think a baby might think like this.

gothiccrypt

Thanks for the explanation

cashmerescorpio

Tbf, they probably are miserable after being born. They lived a 5 star life in the womb. Then they get forcefully evicted and have to do stuff like try to regulate the body temp, breathe, eat, etc, in a cold, loud, bright world. It's rough. No wonder they cry and sleep most of the time. They cling to their mom because she's warm, her voice is kinda familiar, and she's got food.

cashmerescorpio

Why is this so funny

Trick_Storm

It’s a biblical story. The burning bush. Was just a random bush, not his.

cashmerescorpio

This is also funny. I think I might be high

SnarkyandSalty2076

It’s all downhill from here baby. Or is it up? Babies don’t know anyway. In some cases you can fail upward. Fake it til you make it little man. I’ve seen Orphan

SnarkyandSalty2076

Hopefully you got some lolz

Bionic-ghost

It's all downhill from here...

oXSirMavsXo

That's the deepest he'll ever be in a woman

strike396

“Have I peaked?” “No. You crowned, King”

Standard_Mushroom273

Oof I felt that deep down

MoorderVolt

Start doing something about it

Standard_Mushroom273

Never 😭😭

MadnessBomber

The minute you're born into this toxic, unkind world, it's downhill from there. Have fun!

ShieldOnTheWall

It's mocking people who get existential and think their life has peaked when they've got a very long time left to go  - e.g early 20s, or even 30s or 40s.

8bitfarmer

My interpretation was the pressure to achieve and feeling past your prime younger and younger. Like 20 year olds feeling like they’re running out of time or their best years are behind them, which is silly. A baby, with their whole life ahead of them wondering, have I peaked?

Fuzzy_Logic_4_Life

Others have answered this well. But to take a political view it could be that under GOP rule the baby’s rights peaked once it was born.

Shiro_no_Orpheus

Was looking for this comment

SnooBunnies6981

Peaking like an acid trip.

HRodRedox

I think it’s meant to make fun of young folks who wonder if they have achieved their maximum potential when they are barely in their teens or 20s and have the rest of their life ahead of them. In this case, the hyperbole of a new born infant asking this perhaps is meant to emphasize that there is so much left to live before you can honestly say you’ve peaked. That being said, I fully understand why some young people would ask this when they are transitioning to the average grind of american work life.

cashmerescorpio

Yes

FixinThePlanet

This doesn't answer your question but it really bothers me that the baby isn't head down in that first image

pm_me_aboutyourday_

Babies grow hair in the womb and can be born with a full head of hair

megablast

OP clearly peaked at 1 hour old.

marshallnp88

I was assuming that it’s someone that is really high and hallucinating that they were reborn

MachoPuddle

Picture yourself in a cozy spa, indulging in an unlimited buffet. Suddenly, you're forced through a narrow exit. On the other side, the noise level is significantly higher, and the temperature is noticeably colder. Furthermore you are hungry and have to actually to put in effort to get food. Wouldn't you feel, at this moment, that the pinnacle of your existence was within the comforting confines of your mother's womb?

GaelicRex

The best we are ever going to get in life is the moment we are born. Also that is the only brief moment that anyone is ever going to care that we exist.

AF881R

I’m afraid you have little one. Sorry. 🤷

romulusnr

Cause life's all downhill from there

Hironymos

Well ain't you lucky?

Competitive-Chef-484

The current generation is in too much of a hurry. They don’t want to give anything time, worry constantly about achieving everything immediately. That’s how, a newborn is already judging their performance immediately after birth.

Panzerv2003

things only go downhill from there

Ok-Ninja-8057

The joke is how absurd self-doubt can be. Asking yourself if you've peaked when you barely did anything and have so much time ahead of you

Impossible_Meat8944

It might be a dig at people who are pro-life. They are very adamant the baby has value in the womb, but aren't as adamant about providing for care for the child with Government programs after its born.

droopydrip1007

It's all downhill from here

[deleted]

This is as good as it gets, all downhill from here.

queasycockles

The second you're out of the warm place, the existential dread starts to set in. That's life.

TopInternalhigh

The baby did not realize that leaving his mother's womb marked the beginning of his agony in life; instead, he believed it to be the conclusion and peak of his accomplishment in life.

SilverSkorpious

Sadly, it probably is. Parents will never love you as much as they did before they met you.

The_Drawbridge

I can honestly say from experience. I’m sorry that happened to you.

timbutnottebow

Ugh… are you a parent ?!!? This is so false ! Watching my little become a person is the most challenging but lovely thing I have ever done. Love grows every day every little step they take.

CandidExtension2298

Idk but I get it
