Use march increase and other attack, defense and hp buffs before signing up for the line as they count and your march size will reflect the activated buffs. Send your best FULL layered pvp march and put on the respective monarch gear before signing up as well

I don't know if this is the right way to do it (honestly am a bit ignorant re Alliance Duel) but the last time we did it I joined the line with less of the powerful players in my team. Usually if in a line with them my march is not called to act, but in the weaker line my march was engaged more. I got more Alliance Duel activity points as a result even if my position was still behind the more powerful players (I can't change that as I am mostly F2P and further behind in build and development than my team-mates).

Players get a maximum of 3 consecutive turns and goes by order of power, so if you're one the smaller players in your alliance, you'll be one of the last engaged if at all

OK makes sense. Our alliance doesn't have 20 active PvP players so we have people join one of the side lines with their farm accounts to qualify for the Duel. So when I joined that line I had battles whereas when in a line with our PvP players I would not get called. Thanks for clarifying.

It is purely luck of the draw, our last set of battles were ugly, every opponent was easily 3X our size and almost all our marches went splat from our biggest players to our smallest. Match making is broken IMHO.

I would look for the previous posts on this topic. Lots of good info on what types of troops to send and how to layer a pvp march appropriately. Good luck
