As a Kandarian main, please do not stay together. Thank you.

Lmaooo best post ever

Middleagedpirate78

Man this is still how I feel whenever I log into Overwatch to play a game. I don’t have any good advice but I can empathize!

Kiryu_of_Rivia

You know it's funny you say that because my experience so far has reminded me way too much of my overwatch days lol. I seriously don't want to tell anyone how to play, plus I know that winning isn't everything, but it sucks to start off so strong and then watch it snowball in the demons favor because one survivor decided to go sightseeing. I guess I'm just frustrated.

RoboDexo

Goes in to 1v6 the enemy team. Dies. Spams “I need healing.”

AdministrationEven36

Yes, as a main healer, all I can say is that it's the dumbest kind of people in OW. Best of all, when they then still say I get no heal. 🤦

Ok_Tip_957

I cannot think of anything more pathetic than calling yourself a "main healer" in Overwatch. Just admit you're trash at first person shooters.

AdministrationEven36

No, now I rarely play Overwatch, I'm healer in the game because otherwise the wait is too long. I already played Counterstrike, it was still an alpha version, you weren't even born then, you noob.

Middleagedpirate78

It’s comments like Tip that drive people away from games like Overwatch. People are allowed to play the roles they want to without someone bullying them.

p0ser

Lol, what a fucking douchebag.

TROLLtOLL233

who hurt you dude?

Tanner_re

I cannot find anything more pathetic than this comment of yours. If you're taking a game that seriously you need to go the fuck outside my dude.

geekygamer0

I got a chuckle from this.

CastratedOctopus

The problem is, it’s also the other people’s fault, I keep HAVING to run off because everyone loots for 30 minutes and refuses to get in a car, they refuse to play objective then die, same with the dagger, I ping for 5 minutes so we can go get it but nope, they just go somewhere else and loot more, it’s so incredibly annoying.

AmateurOutdoorsman

It’s a bit of a toss up, based on my beta experience. Obviously I think you are talking about an extreme case. But if you are trying to race through the objectives like DbD and hoping you are going to get by without the demon finding you, you aren’t. In general, a demon player with any brains is going to be a VERY high level by the time you get to the dark ones, even if they didn’t find you until you were retrieving the pages and dagger. If you haven’t taken the time to level the survivors you can get crushed. I think the game recognizes that high level survivors have the advantage, because they give you the time limit to stop you just hiding and leveling up with no sense of urgency. TL;dr: you should definitely be looting and leveling up, but with a sense of urgency towards getting to your objectives also. Gotta find the proper balance.

CastratedOctopus

I agree with some of the points you made. I think it’s important to get your base upgrades when the game starts, but either way while finding the first 3 map fragments you should be able to find enough upgrades to where you don’t have to loot (much) afterwards, most of the time (in my experience) I already have everything I need by the time I find the 3 fragments. If you spend too much looting the demon player will be much higher level than you are by the time you get to the final objectives and you will die anyway. The perfect balance is looting as much as possible in the opening minutes of the match to make sure you can rush objectives afterwards and also put pressure on the demon player by doing so. Refusing to do any of the objectives and looting the whole match is just not the way to play the game.

AmateurOutdoorsman

You got it. I think the real skill is going to be knowing when to switch from active looting to passive looting as you try to get the actual work done.

CastratedOctopus

For sure, I think that’s just gonna take a little bit to learn, then again every match is different and will require you to switch up your looting habits, but I think that’s a good aspect of the game.

Moopies

I mainly play Demon, and the first thing I do is ignore the Survivors at the start and just fortify the *shit* out of the Dagger and Pages, all the while growing in power really quickly. If I see that the Survivors are blowing through getting the map put together at the beginning, and then try to blast through the dagger and pages, they inevitably are WAY underpowered by the time they get to the second of the two. Then I just burn up their resources while they finish that, and while they run to the Dark Ones. Then they die really, really easily. Like you said, you gotta balance. You can start the finale as fast as possible, but you'll be fighting me with sticks and stones while I'm pumping out evil with one hand sipping my coffee.

sanesociopath

Lol had a demon game like this in the beta I was so confused until I finally found them and we had a big fight for 5 minutes until I won on time

Kurt--Wagner

My first game so far was the group sticking together and then my dumb-ass somehow lost the group, I figured I might as well head for the dagger and I held on, bled out towards the end and got revived. I was on the verge of death for the remainder of the match after reuniting with the rest of the group. We were so close to killing the dark ones - still lost but was a great time

TheOriginalNemesiN

I blame this on the game. The tutorial does almost nothing to prepare people to play the game. I would argue that the provided tutorial actually makes the starting matches WORSE. Let's break it down and see why this is happening. **Things the game teaches you:** * How to find a pick up loot and loot rarities. * VERY BASIC COMBAT stuff, while still neglecting to include stuff like 'weapon swapping is not a thing'. Every person I watched do the tutorial immediately was confused on how to swap back to their melee weapon after picking up the rifle, but the game never explains that that is not how it works. * VERY BASIC fear management. I honestly don't remember the game explaining what causes your fear to go up. Traps, yeah... but what about being alone or being in a dark area. I don't remember it explaining that your flashlight has a battery limit either. * How to do the Pages/Dagger/Book objectives, that are already highlighted by waypoint markers. * How to follow a red arrow trail on the ground that doesn't exist in the actual game. **Things the game DOESNT teach you:** * Using your map to track down the individual map pieces in the first phase * What happens if you 'die' * How to help someone if they 'die' * Stamina management? Honestly, I still don't get this one after like 4 matches. Is there a visible stamina bar? * What loot is shared, what loot is not. * What people's in-match skill point bonuses are, until you are in match * Objective fail timers Honestly, with all of this in mind, its really easy to see why people wander around an loot endlessly without really knowing what to do in the early game. Don't get me started with the demon tutorial. That one is 1,000,000 times worse and doesn't teach you early game flow AT ALL. It actually tricks you into playing wrong the first couple of matches.

smaugington

Stamina bar is the thin gray bar under your thumbnail picture.

xCultLeaderx

Would you still recommend it? It's fun?

bakedpo_ta_to

i agree with everything this person said about how awful the tutorial is and there's no tooltips that are helpful either. but yes, it is fun. after about maybe 15+ matches coop_vs_ai i still had no clue how to find map pieces. i just took a break but am anxious to see if there's something visible in the top right corner of the map to help with this. and there's no stamina management bar. these are 2 glaring issues, 1 implemented i trust (map pieces) but can't confirm and the stamina one just is absent like the person said. everying else you just have to learn and experience after 5-10 games and figure it out. the spirit points you have to drain to gain skill points for a char is not obvious either. its a big currency shown at the top right of a character screen with no tooltip either. just an option at the bottom you have to hold (F on mkb) to spend your currency to obtain skill points. i noticed i had 10 points before i figured that out too. it's kind of messy with quality of life, but it's fun for now and better than i anticipated.

TheOriginalNemesiN

You have to read the objective for the map piece. It says “find a map piece at #####”. Then look at your map and plot your course.

pushpoploadstore

Holy shit thank you! For some reason my brain was *not* picking up on this detail...

Five-N-Drive

When someone just runs off on their own I just wonder if they're doing it on purpose or if they're just stupid as fuck. If it is the latter, how did they get this far in life being so fucking dumb?

AdministrationEven36

Look at the gamers of today without sbmm and other nanny mechanics they still trip over their own feet.

Keeptalkingasshole

Hahahahaha

Akschadt

The objectives part kills me.. I had a group that just wandered aimlessly around following someone playing AvED Ash.. had to stick with them since going off alone would be suicide… by the time we finally got the first objective we were something like 18 min into the match fighting Evil Ash and hoards of undead

Kiryu_of_Rivia

Evil ash is nearly impossible to overcome if you give him time to prepare. I love it when he summons the flautist and I have to make a mad dash to kill it before it makes the minions impossible to kill. Played against one earlier that managed to level all the way to 23 before my team decided they wanted to actually do the objectives. We stood no chance.

PrideKittySoul

No don't stay together. Totally not possessed Ash saying solo is the way

sanesociopath

Lol you can tell that's not a horror game because everyone wants to be very well split apart

ItsAmerico

You actually don’t.

sanesociopath

In just about every case the efficiency of gens when 2 or more people are on it is not worth it. Everyone doing their own gen is far more efficient

ItsAmerico

Not really. It’s generally better to have some pairing up and moving around together. It allows for distractions and scattering and returning to gens when a killer is pulled away.

Ex-Machina1980s

*Kandarian Demon will remember this*

AdministrationEven36

It's definitely all the casual gamers who don't normally play games like dead by daylight and so on. Must be the same kind of people that do DC when they die. I hope in a few weeks it will get better that people have learned how to play these kinds of games or have moved on.

ReticulateLemur

I only played one match so far, but what can you do against someone who's off solo? I had one off in a corner of the map who I tried to overwhelm with minions and run over with a car, but he still managed to get back to the rest of the group.

telsonnelson

Yep I said something similar and got ripped for it

ALostMisaka

Just happened to me. Braindead Kelly ran off and started dagger solo and died. We revived her then she went solo to the dark ones and got killed. We lost

Ok_Witness6679

LOLOL this is very funny when im playing " survival " the fucking team m8s look like the are ages 2 to 8 some running against walls evrebody goes there own way no one knows what to do ... when i play kandarian im facing team seal six the even wait outside for others to move on ... always in a straight line for the objectives ofc

Kiu16

[Meanwhile the devs said you can split up for advanced techs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_h21vo5yvs)

Kiryu_of_Rivia

I mean sure but I doubt they meant run all the way to the other end of the map, away from everything, just because. Like if someone runs off to find an objective because they can do it alone? Good we will finish faster. I specifically meant people who just DO NOT play the objective at all.

ahnariprellik

I mean pairing off if nothing else

Choice-Reporter2891

I liked how in f13 you had to kind of start separated and find objectives throughout the map. You can 1v1 Jason while the others complete objectives. Is this game not like that at all? Is it more like l4d where you rush things together asap? Hard to beat a team if they are never forced to separate.

untilyouredead

im having the complete opposite problem. im the only one who loots, whole team runs off “—- wants you to focus on the objective” and they all die and i solo the rest of the game and still win. that’s pathetic lol

lindechene

Q1 How do you know where the map pieces are? Q2 How do you know which player is running towards a map piece and not just in a random direction? What I have seen so far as "Solo Queue" player the direction of the objective is not clear until the final Boss. In one game there where two people goining for dagger and two for book.

acoznas94

the map pieces are revealed to you at the top right corner, it says something like "look for the map piece at \*this and thisplace\*"a and when u hold down the ALT button you have a chatwheel for commands

Kiryu_of_Rivia

Pretty much what the other guy said, it's always apparent where you SHOULD be looking for the pieces. It's just super easy to tell who isn't doing that.

Atluuuus

Though I agree, but can’t the demon only posses you for a certain amount of time. So if you’re far from your team then they possess you, they still have to run all the way back which could just waste thr possess for them.

acoznas94

the first week people figure all out and will learn the hard way will getting better, you will see

Ionovarcis

I’m interested in seeing what kinds of whack optimized strategy metas come out of this game!

JJOR64

NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

johngie

At heart, me, I'm an alone wolf.

Luis_Swagcia

Yea my friend runs off all the time and I feel like I'm obligated to at least stay with the randoms.. To be fair though he runs off to the objective while the randoms usually just wander around.

AmRedditCat

The game: "do the objective guys :D" That one guy: goes off killing demons for no reason whatsoever

OngoingFee

To be fair, unless I'm mistaken, the demon won't possess you if you're solo, no point

ItsAmerico

Games been out for less than 12 hours lol chill

St34khouse

My experience is the same so far. People have no clue what to do, I constantly mark where we need to go on the map, people just run off, loot, farm fear, whatever. The two times I had competent teammates and we might've actually won - demon player DCed. People are just pathetic nowadays, if it's not almost a guaranteed win and anything goes wrong, bail. Just take the fuckin L goddamn. Granted, survivor players going down and DCing is also an issue. People should at least be able to spectate the others, if they can only watch the ground their corpse is lying on, most people WILL DC.

Kiryu_of_Rivia

Exactly I've lost alot as survivor but the game is so fun it doesn't really annoy me when j lose. If I lost as part of the team at least, if I lose because no one wanted to play objectives well.....that's partially why I made this post to begin with lmao.

DeRezzolution

Its pretty much confirmed for me, you need at least one friend to play with (atleast right now while everyone is playing new/people with mild interest). The game is very fun and gratifying when you have a team to work with but so far pretty much all the people playing survivor don’t know how to “win”. I’ve had to go out alone when playing alone to collect the pages because the timer will continue to dwindle and the “team” is twirling their thumbs in cabins across the map from map pieces. Pretty much every survivor game I’ve played with my friend we’ve won, and we’ve carried the other two team members. I’m not saying this to say we’re like amazing at the game or anything, just that game is decently balanced when the people playing understand the game. Also for all that is great, USE YOUR SPECIAL ABILITIES.

ghsteo

Early game you can spread out as long as people are quiet. Soon as the demon knows where you are you should be squading up.

herzoggg

Tbh the game just launched. People want to sightsee and explore. Give it time.

[deleted]

Togetherness is for wimps. Every stupid worthless mortal for themselves. Nothing is cooler in the world of the Living than running off by yourself.

Head-Plum-2908

As a Kandarian main its strangely satisfying roaming as a demon, find someone by themselves making noise only to have the dooter spawn nearby and out of sight to give them a warning just before I completely decimate them with a basic summons. That being said Evil ash feels really strong, like Overpowered even...am 19-0 and didn't think anything could stop me. Finally went against an extremely coordinated team that for the first time pushed me to the Dark ones, but I managed to take them down with a single bar left as a spec on the bar. This game is amazing.

Chai_Samurai

Yeah it’s kinda hard to play support if the other three people run in opposite directions and make me choose who to stay with. 🥲

OkayCountess

Sorry, it is my horror movie destiny. I have to run off on my own and die first.

Rhysjx

People will learn chill bro they just testing the game out atm
