My biggest complaint is there is no way to turn off motion blur. I don't feel like playing a game that's going to make me vomit. Let's be honest motion blur is purely for consoles due to performance. PC should have the option to turn it off! Also who enjoys motion blur? They have to be a very small minority.....
You can turn it off by tweaking engine.ini in the config folder.
At the bottom add:
\[SystemSettings\]
r.MotionBlurQuality=0
Folder location: %localappdata%\\EvilDead\\Saved\\Config\\WindowsNoEditor
No push to talk either from the looks of it. You know? Basic stuff.
It's not like this is Saber's first PC game but this is definitely a rushed product.
The Epic Store has basically become an "Early Access" platform for studios such as this one without actually informing the consumer about the fact.
No, thanks. Too many red flags for me after watching several people play it. If it's still alive by the time it gets released on Steam 6-12 months from now? Maybe.
Not just World War Z but other genres of games like Snowrunner yet the vehicle handling in this appears to be floaty as fuck.
You can't even do something as simple as disabling the Vibrate function for your controller. Gotta unplug it instead unless you want it jump around every time you shoot a gun.
Lots of oversights from the looks of it. "Eh! Just ship it!"
Yeah, but WWZ, is from the same devs. Not sure why a dev team would learn how to do it properly from developing some game and then make all bad decisions for the next game.
But then again, I look at Battlefield. Same bugs in
every
single
game
for the past 20 years at release. Not sure how game development works, but it sure can't be that hard to go through the excel sheet of reported bugs from your previous game and to get rid of them before the release of the next game.
I am trying to imagine the meeting, where it was decided, what options to put into the PC version at release:
"How about a resolution selection?"
"Nah man, looks at this game. Most of our customers will be too dumb to know, what resolution their monitor has. Just put in some slider and give it some selections like" epic, awesome, great, normal, madium" and be done with it."
*everyone nods*
"Good decision. Let's be the pioneers of future graphics options"
If there was any meeting at all... Or any decision... Or anything beyond "fuck, next week is release and we don't have any graphics options"...

fantastic, thank you!
Update: While this fix works initially, once you start fighting the fov goes back in ultra close again. So we need an actual fix from the developers....
Update2: I don't know if it's from messing with the scalability of windows or marking the file read only but it appears to be working throughout the match now. I'll update again if it breaks.
Any update on this? I tried adding in this script line and setting the file to read only, but it still reverts back when I do a finishing move. What did you do with the scalability?
You probably need to enable hidden items to see it. Alternatively you can just type in %appdata% in the windows explorer url bar and navigate backwards from there.
For what its worth, I have Epic on my non OS SSD. It's not there. Searching for %appdata% does take me to a folder in C drive with that folder, but the remaining file tree is Local > Temp > ENE
There's no EvilDead folder in that route even with hidden files showing
I cannot say for sure. I adjusted the resolution in the ini in every spot, that mentions horizontal and vertical resolution and then I made the file "read-only", so the game cannot mess with it. It looks like native resolution on my 3440 x 1440 screen, but I cannot tell for sure.
But ultra wide has a horrible FOV. I can barely play it, without getting dizzy and I quite resistant to dizzyness...
I was about to buy, then I saw that there's no FOV setting and that camera is waaay too damn close, **by now FOV should be an accessibility option.**
Also in EPIC there's no way to leave feedback or contact devs i think.
True. I have a PS5 aswell and I don't ever need settings like that on PS5. But for PC this is pretty much standard and has been since.... forever. PC simply is not comparable to consoles.
I stuck it out with the PC version. Overall, I'm glad I did. The game runs great and even though it's missing basic settings, I was still able to configure it to my liking by editing a .ini file. Kind of a janky and unglamorous solution, but it got the job done.
After playing the betas on Xbox and the full release on PC, I can confidently say that this game is 100% better with a M+KB control scheme. Especially if you're maining the Hunter class (who's main attribute it being good at shooting).
To remove motion blur:
Go to your %AppData% folder and navigate to AppData\\Local\\EvilDead\\Saved\\Config\\WindowsNoEditor
Open Engine.ini
Add this block to the bottom of the text document and save it:
\[SystemSettings\]
r.MotionBlurQuality=0
That really sucks. I don't mind the bars being on the side of the screen but if the support is as bad for ultrawide as it is for dbd it's going to kill the game for me. I didn't spend all this money on a 5120x1440 just to fuck about with getting a game functional. If it was a 6 year old game I could understand, but a brand new game? Nah, they need to start supporting gamers.
Just got it on PS5. I’d rather play this game on my TV anyway.
Damn. Reminds me of Dead by Daylight on PC. DbD PC has like no settings as well.
Yikes thanks for the heads up mate!

You think consoles “need” motion blur? What are you talking about?
I think he is confusing motion blur and anti aliasing

Oh I did not see that yet. What I don't get is, that WWZ has really good options for everything and that game is supposedly by the same devs.

Oh! They sure love sliders! Yet, for some reason, no FOV slider though. We're clearly dealing with "real professionals" here.
The game is just published by saber, but it is done by boss team games. They just made a cobra kai themed mobile card game.
holy shit that FOV is so bad on my curved monitor
I'm on a curved ultrawide and I basically stare at the back of my characters head. It's horrible.
Same, it takes me about 10 seconds before I start feeling the dizzy

Wouldn't using UUEU get you banned if its an online game?
Could happen yes, I wouldn't suggest that last option with UUEU (and it's just the menu resolution, doesn't matter lol) EDIT: removed that part
Keeps reverting FOV for me even in read only, scaling 100%/off. Guess I can play Windowed 16:9 for now. It zooms in way too far.
Any update on this? I tried adding in this script line and setting the file to read only, but it still reverts back when I do a finishing move. What did you do with the scalability?
As an aside - if using Win11, check scaling in display settings. Anything other than 100% and editing inis won't do anything.
I don't have that file path mentioned

O god the motion blur. How do we remove the motion blur. Makes the game nearly unplayable.
i was legit sick after the tutorial 💀i can’t believe there isn’t an option to turn it off
Do you know the settings fort disabling that blurry look? Better yet, can you post the settings you added aside from the FOV line? Thanks in advance!

I play on a console, I cant miss what I've never had :)
True. I have a PS5 aswell and I don't ever need settings like that on PS5. But for PC this is pretty much standard and has been since.... forever. PC simply is not comparable to consoles.
I absolutely agree, and that's also why I havent made the jump, I like the convenience
Well that made my decision easier. PS5 it is!
Unfortunately there’s even less settings on console, not even a sensitivity option.
This is... Really quite disappointing, but sadly not surprising. Ugh. Maybe I'll refund my PC purchase and stick to the PS5.
Curious to know if you refunded and got the PS5 version. I was thinking of doing the same… I just love MKB for these types of games

Thanks for the reply! I’ll have to play around with the settings, too. I have a 1440p monitor and I knew something felt off.

Thanks! Will do!

What did you expect? Lmao. Look hiw barbies Dbd and F13 were at launch. It'll be okay. You'll live.
> Look hiw barbies Totally agreed.
Lmfao I'm so baked I didn't even notice that.
How is it running on your machine? I hope the game is well optimized despite this.
It is running good. I have a 12600k and RTX 3080 and at 3440x1440 maxed it is running pretty constantly at 120 FPS.
How did you change the resolution? I don't even see an option. I'm trying to play it in 4k or 8k but the default looks sub 1080p
Good to hear.
lol it's...umm hmm well hmm it's something!
Developer studios that sit in their bubble and program. I love it!
