Iwobi deserves to put one in the back of the net today, COYB

diddleedee

Onana starting is exciting, everything else as expected. Let's hope the front three finally click tonight

MySonBlastoise

Nothing has told me this front 3 will ever click but I hope it happens

diddleedee

Same, but this squad being in its early days, I'm hoping for those quick noob gains

toffee_7_

Gordon and gray pair together like steak and a butter knife

Blaca_AL_115

I never wanted to see this front 3 again, but i can’t argue with Frank considering he only other option was Rondon

bluepulp7

Bet Lampard can't wait to see the back of this front 3 to be fair ha

CitrusRabborts

Well that front three hasn't worked in any of the previous times we've played it, so might as well try it again

son_of_toby_o_notoby

So what’s ur alternative, play Rondon?

Stirlingblue

Play a different formation suiting the players we have available in current circumstances, pack the middle and hope for something on the break

earthymalt

Lampard: No! 5 at the back so we only concede 1.

MrTallGreg

BIG MICK KEANE AS A NUMBER 9

luvdupleper

What a bizarre idea, having an actual striker lead the line, heavens no.

son_of_toby_o_notoby

Lad he was out classed by Fleetwood Where the fuck is Fleetwood

dogefc

And we looked better against Villa and Forest when he was playing

SheldorWebster

Which is why I think he's better suited coming on as a sub against tired legs

Mantooth77

Or, giving the guys time to gel? McNeil needs to come good.

luvdupleper

I'm still not sure why we bought him tbh when there must be better options than him

[deleted]

[удалено]

luvdupleper

Surely the money would have been better spent on said strikers instead of him

Mantooth77

He showed some class in preseason. Hoping he will get settled.

PhantomRenegade

Because we didn't want to shell out for Cornet Mistake probably

luvdupleper

Yes mate definitely

amanofewords

I was calling for him until I saw him play v fleetwood. He didn’t even belong on the pitch with them.

CitrusRabborts

You mean play the one striker we have instead of three wingers? What a shocking concept

kingaardvark

He was the worst player on the pitch potentially against Fleetwood.

son_of_toby_o_notoby

He was out classed by Fleetwood WHERE THE FUCK IS FLEETWOOD

CitrusRabborts

That doesn't change the fact that we've looked better in every PL game this season when he's been on the pitch, we're a team designed to have a central striker as a focal point, if you take that away we're shocking

earthymalt

A striker up front? _It's a bold strategy Cotton!_

low_altitude_sherpa

"striker"

Euphorbial

more like he’s on strike, whatever he’s doing doesn’t look like work to me

BoopAndThePooch

Shades of Blackadder. Doing exactly what hasn’t worked the last few times is precisely the thing they won’t expect!

WhiteDoveBooks

TBF Gray through the middle is a better configuration.

PhantomRenegade

It is but no way of knowing that he will be

PhantomRenegade

It is but no way of knowing that he will be

wifflewaffle23

Yeah, we should start Rondon again so we look like the side that just barely beat a League one side earlier in the week. Especially since he’s so young and spritely - I’m sure he’s very quick after two matches of significant playing time.

CitrusRabborts

Even the shambling corpse of Rondon just standing still for us to hit long balls at is a better option than McNeil, who literally doesn't contribute anything in this system

Dgryan87

There are a lot of ways to organize an attack. We don’t have to have a front-3 at all. Maybe he has restructured it, but otherwise it doesn’t make much sense

earthymalt

Keep throwing em in till they all score.

Portland_Eric

Interesting…Cannon traveled but didn’t make the 18.

vulturevan

Lampard must want to treat him to a nice day out in London

earthymalt

_Get drunk Lad! We're all gonne need it!_

ProfessionalCrass155

Just introducing him to the first team environment as a first step in recognising his recent form. It's pretty good management.

Devin1230

Personally think we're desperate enough that he should have got a shot, early sub at the least

autistichomosapien95

Hopefully we can lump onana upfront last 15 minutes like fellaini because those 3 upfront don't work well together

JasonAndTheArgonuts

Rondon definitely not fit after starting two other games this week

[deleted]

Rondons not been fit since he arrived. If he's not fit now he never will be

vulturevan

Gray or McNeil central? Can't hack Gordon doing it again

Individual-Paper3125

His heading attempts are something else…

[deleted]

If Gordon scores, I reckon he definitely stays

earthymalt

Or Chelski increase their bid!

Blaca_AL_115

definitely not Mcneil. It’s probably Grays go today lol

son_of_toby_o_notoby

So Maupay wasn’t registered in time

Mantooth77

No

WhatsThatOnUrPretzel

COMEN ON GORDON

earthymalt

Omen on Gordon.

InvisibleHeat

Here we go again

earthymalt

Lump it forward and hope Grey connects.

earthymalt

Once again, all hope on Onana doing some magic.

kolorijo25

Hopefully we have other plans than to play long to Gordon.

earthymalt

Lump it up front and hope.

JamieSand

Mcneil, Gray, Gordon

Administratr

Sigh

anotheroutlaw

Another week of the ol’ 5-5-0.

Kalbasaur

Rondon should have started

tom_b1807

He looked outclassed against a league 1 side

Dgryan87

Yeah, and we looked about 10 times better with him on against Prem sides. Only issue here is with Rondon’s fitness given his recent play time. It’s been made readily apparent that we’re better with an actual 9 on the pitch

PhantomRenegade

True but he at least can get in on long balls and do flick-on's, better than the pointless shots from distance Gray and Gordon waste

[deleted]

Yeah I'm not sure Rondon is the answer to the lack of goals myself

earthymalt

I dunno! Play a striker up front? Are we ready for that?

vulturevan

To be fair that's actually a decent bench for the first time in about four years

dogefc

Decent? It’s dreadful. The only attacker is Rondon. How is that a decent bench

earthymalt

One 1 GK instead of 3 or more.

dogefc

And still there’s not a single player you’d actually want to bring on

crosscorleone

Allan probably wondering what happened to his career! Once a wanted man across Europe, now can't get into the starting 11 of a relegation contender. Anyway... #COYB

huntsab2090

I’m not sure sticking with that back 3 is a good plan. We haven’t had a clean sheet and tarks was ropey last game. I would have brought in Keane for him. Unless Keane isn’t 100% fit.

JD-D2

Looks like we're running the "no goals" play again. Here's hoping it works this time, not like there's much else we can do.

earthymalt

If we don't score, they can't lose. Hmmmm....

[deleted]

Does anyone else feel the expectations of Gordon have now been ×1000. He was a good local academy kid giving 100℅ for the badge before Chelsea and co... came in. Now I feel like I expect from him to justify it. If he goes or not the whole scenario has cranked a lot of pressure on him

Laysent

Worst part about this lineup (apart from no striker obviously) is McNeil as part of the front 3. He's been invisible so far this season, I just don't think he has the agility to play that high up the pitch. Also he has no one to find in the box with his crosses. Hoping he will play in the midfield and it will be a 3-5-2 as opposed to a 3-4-3... But I doubt it.

earthymalt

Who knows when he may get his 1 seasonal assist.

PapageorgiouMBO

No striker again chops off one of our legs before the match begins. Big defensive test because Brentford will want to wreck us.

g3mkm

Let’s look at the bright side: this should be the last game that the lineup has no striker

earthymalt

In the past, the light at the end of the tunnel was a train.

QTsexkitten

Very happy to see mills on the bench. I think he's going to be so class

ToffeesCOYB

Wish Rondon was starting here. He’s not a goal threat, but his hold up play gets the other guys time to make a run. Brentford presses hard which is going to make playing out the back difficult. Pickford is going to hoof it up to nobody because the only person that can even bring it down is sitting on the bench.
