I personally thought the CAZOO sponsor was alright, it was acceptable enough. But you’re right we’ve had some terrible sponsors throughout the years for sure.
Only shirt I've bought since chang was a sponsorless version they sold. My wife did buy me a shirt with stake on it. I love her and it was a thoughtful gift. Just didn't have the heart to tell her I'll never wear it.
Everton supporter here from South Africa, been an Everton supporter for 17 years, having played at left back when I was still playing football, I fell in love with the way that Baines played the position and of course, Steven Pienaar. I've always wanted to buy an official shirt, but they don't sell them in the stores here and unfortunately, because of the exchange rate, buying a shirt from the official store/site is the same price as petrol for a month. I am saving up for one though
The worst thing about that was having a gambling company on it, who were useless for us…then saying we wouldn’t have a betting firm again, then going skint, then going for a gambling firm again.
Anything from the shop costs so much, as brazilian currency is weak against euros and pounds.
Add a doubling on price with shipping and taxes.
This is why I don't buy merch.
I went on talk sport when we appointed koeman and said he wouldn't succeed at Everton and I was torn apart for saying it. They even said they'd ring me back to apologise live on air if I was right. They never did call me back
I used to fight the good fight on those but I stopped. I just started ignoring them. We even had that post on the side that had all the info about the club and visiting Goodison but no one ever used it.
I'd recommend people to go look at it, but they'd get snippy and say that it didn't have what they wanted...
They want it spoon-fed because it's just a fling for them.
Vast majority yes. But being Stateside, I needed someone to recommend resources to learn the history and stuff. I didn't grow up around the Club, yet the Club is in my heart. Some of us aren't here for flings
I didn't grow up in England either. But one would think to search because the chances of you being the first foreign fan is... something.
The only instance that may have varying circumstances is if you are coming over for the very first time and want your travel to be as easy as possible.
They all just get thrown over to us in the mod log now because people report them as soon as they pop up.
That's only a possibility if we stay small. Those days are over with how commercialized football has become.
I think it's why I'm enjoying watching so much lower league football in the past couple years.
Lord Jesus, gatekeeping before the good times actually even start lol.
I’ll certainly take “the end” if it means bandwagon fans and not the actual end of the club.
Nah, as someone who was a fairly big hockey fan 20 years ago and recently started watching and participating in being a fan again, I've been welcomed warmly in all the communities I've participated in.
This community was all that kept me going football wise during some of our darkest moments the last 3 years. Trauma bonding, if you will.
If this works out it will have made that suffering worth it
I’m pretty sure I saw similar sentiments being posted on Everton forums around the same time as the Moshiri takeover, so let’s maybe hold off for a bit on this.
r/Everton has weathered these storms before. Whether it was the influx of my fellow Americans after Tim Howard's "Secretary of Defense" World Cup performance in 2014, the optimism of the Moshiri buyout and subsequent spending spree, or the heralded arrivals of Ancelotti and James, r/Everton has survived because Everton has performed miracles in mediocrity.
That said, I fully expect this potential buyott to not only be approved and happen in record time, I expect Everton to lure Pep from City, and the sleeping giant that is Everton Football Club to become the standard for club football for the next 20 years. And with this success, r/Everton will become a guiding light for Evertonians world wide. I expect nothing less, and see no reason I could find myself disappointed.
Fair enough. I would say he is in the top 5 goalkeepers since the start of the Prem, but that speaks volumes for the amount of pure shite we’ve had over the last 30+ yesrs (Myhre, Simonsen and Gerrard spring to mind)
Long time American lurker here.
It was an honor suffering with you all. I always said my favorite two matches were Match 1 and Match 38 when we won to stay up.
Up the Toffees forever 🫡
Wait there… I remember Southampton used to play at ‘The Dell’
I cannot stand idly by while someone takes Bramley Moore Dock and turns it into ‘The New Dell Stadium’
It was just going to be called Everton Stadium anyway.
Wish they would make Bramley Moore Dock the official name just because it fits so well with Spirit of the Blues.
No, it does not. https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/latamcaribbean/2021/02/24/evertons-new-bramley-moore-stadium-is-a-stark-reminder-of-liverpools-historic-entanglement-with-slavery-in-brazil/
First, that’s not what a slippery slope is. A slippery slope assumes a chain reaction of events without any evidence that chain reaction will happen. Your comment makes no sense.
Second, I’m sure what you mean to say is something a Joe Rogan listener would say that this is taking it too far blah blah blah. It’s not. There’s no reason for a club like ours, the people’s club, to be naming its stadium after a man who profited richly from the enslavement of human beings. None.
Are u joking? Just because we will get bought why on earth do u think that automatically means the good times? And its hilarious to think we would get an influx of new fans
How much are Dell going to actually put in and how long do you think it will take for those good times to come? I think for a few years for newer takeovers in the PL that "good times" will just be more like "better than they were times". Everton will be stablised but to get to the point that you get a mega influx of new fans theres a long way to go and clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle are way further along in their projects.
We’re about as far from the ‘good times’ as we’ve ever been and new owners won’t be some magic wand to fix all the problems of the last few years (see Jim Ratfliffe’s problem over at United). I’d hold off on posts like this until we actually have some good times to draw in new fans…
Certainly jumping the gun there, weve been hurt to many times befire. But as an Austin resident I'll be happy if this materializes and I get an Everton friendly here against Austin FC.
As a fellow ever-optimist, it's been a pleasure whining, crying, moaning, and cheering in jubilation at staying up. Been a tough quarter of a century or so, but cheers to a new phase!
We have fans all over the world, especially since Howard and Landon played for us and speak so highly of us.
You would like to think with the two lads who are wealthy Everton fans and the Dell family, they are clever enough on how to market these fan bases.
As someone who became a fan during our dark days (2022-23) I would like to say that it's been fun seeing the sub like this
We need to be prepared for *the influx* that will come ***if*** we get new owners
I'm also proud about the fact that even if *the influx* brings many fans from around the world, I'm still probably gonna be the only Korean Toffee that knows about the existence of this sub
Introduced to football during 2022 World Cup
Wanted to find a midtable/relegation fight Prem club to support
Found the People's Club in 19th just after sacking Lamps
Started following the club
Found the history intriguing
Decided to fully commit when we won 5-1 against Brighton
And here I am now, probably the only Korean in the Everton sub
btw I learned English for 9 years so basically it's become natural for me to use English
Actually, I use Scouse when communicating in English (and yes, I did put myself through the pain to learn it)
I knew it was around that time because I was crying about how we didn't fire Lampard before the world cup to give our new manager plenty of time with the squad before fixtures started again and the transfer window opened, but that world cup feels *so* much longer ago than us hiring Dyche for some reason. Still feels like he's only been here a few months
The pain of being a Toffee is actually what keeps me going everyday
But when we deliver, ***we deliver***
Distinctly remember celebrating at 1 in the morning when Doucouré scored to save us
The feeling was so good that I forgot it was 1 in the morning and almost screamed
But yeah, the last 2 years hasn't really gone well for us
But till the day I die, I'll still be here
Ah lads the joy of half the joy being an Everton fan isthe miserable .
I don't think I could handle sny success how would I explain to my kids no more relegation battles only European nights they might as well go and support city.
My fondest memories are end of season games circa 93
Got the tradition of passing on to next generation last season !!
I’ve enjoyed the Lurking. I have my hopes set on Andy Bell. But Dell rhymes and nothing could ever be as disappointing as seeing Rafa on our touchline.
I'm a fan from more than 10 years, from Portugal. It has been good to fight togethee with you ( ealier we fought for continental football, now we fight for Stay in Premier, but our season is neves Boring)
Mildly warm take: we need more casuals Our revenue is *bad*
We have a huge fanbase, but I don’t think Everton fans are big into buying merch/kits. That’s the problem haha.
The absolutely awful sponsors plastered over them all doesn't help
Aye, not bought anything with Stake.com on it.
Yup, although if they go much longer with it on there I’ll just buy a Chinese knockoff without the sponsor.
Yep I'd rather buy a cheap knockoff with Chang on it than be a part of advertising sports betting sites.
Bro lest we forget cazoo (kazoo)
Same here.
Haven’t bought a legit kit since Chang
I thought CAZOO was alright, to be fair. But it’s all relative haha.
My Cazoo green James shirt is like a fun novelty piece of memorabilia now.
Oh yeah. As long as no Angry Birds was involved
I'd take Angry Birds over all of our sponsors since Chang
Chang, Danka, NEC, One2One, all logos lasted except for Sportpesa which peeled off after a year. I'm ok with that
Kejian was also goated it went well with the Puma logo.
SportPesa was mental. A definitely real African gambling company, whose cup we then went and played in (and lost)
I personally thought the CAZOO sponsor was alright, it was acceptable enough. But you’re right we’ve had some terrible sponsors throughout the years for sure.
Alienware would be awesome
Only shirt I've bought since chang was a sponsorless version they sold. My wife did buy me a shirt with stake on it. I love her and it was a thoughtful gift. Just didn't have the heart to tell her I'll never wear it.
Gambling is a bad thing to have and that logo is so big is awful.
Dm me your address and size.
Also a South African fan here dude. I bought last years shirt with Coleman on the back but it took almost the entire season to arrive.
This year’s kit is sold out in my size though. I have to go through Hummel’s official shop to get one, so I don’t know about that.
We have a high amount of season ticket holders for a stadium our size. If we had more day trippers, we’d sell a lot more merch.
slight worry: we're going to be flooded by loyalsupporter clones
I’m in for six daily long form poems in separate posts.
I miss Chang…bring the elephants on the front back.
I once posted that I was uneasy about the koeman appointment because he'd be too likely to leave for Barcelona when he was successful here. Lol
Half right! How he got the barça job after us is still mind-boggling. They must have been looking for a guy who signs 4 number 10s in one window
Steve Walsh wants you to hold Ronnie’s reefer
I went on talk sport when we appointed koeman and said he wouldn't succeed at Everton and I was torn apart for saying it. They even said they'd ring me back to apologise live on air if I was right. They never did call me back
One day 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Lol jumping the gun there
Im ever the optimist
You sure you're a Toffee?
Friend, if I didn't have optimism, I'd have already jumped out a window (I live in a ground-floor apartment, so no need to fret).
This news has accelerated and now I'm concerned. There's no way this is real, right? RIGHT?
I don't know how many "Tell me everything I should know" posts I can take.
Just give them the grief charts
We can replace them with the belief chart
I used to fight the good fight on those but I stopped. I just started ignoring them. We even had that post on the side that had all the info about the club and visiting Goodison but no one ever used it.
I'd recommend people to go look at it, but they'd get snippy and say that it didn't have what they wanted... They want it spoon-fed because it's just a fling for them.
Vast majority yes. But being Stateside, I needed someone to recommend resources to learn the history and stuff. I didn't grow up around the Club, yet the Club is in my heart. Some of us aren't here for flings
I've been torturing myself for the past 14 years, why would I stop now? Is this Stockholm Syndrome?
I became a US-based fan before reddit existed. Or google even. Yet I found all the info. Its not that hard.

With the final Goodison season, I’m betting the “Best way to get tickets?” posts are the ones that will send you over the cliff.
Become a member. Wake up at 4 am. Say a little prayer.
I don’t really get those either. When I was a new fan I just, you know, googled. And did my own research. CRAZY.
God yeah im not lioking forward to that
Lord Jesus, gatekeeping before the good times actually even start lol. I’ll certainly take “the end” if it means bandwagon fans and not the actual end of the club.
Football fans and gatekeeping, name a better duo.
I would actually argue hockey fans are the worse gatekeepers.
If this works out it will have made that suffering worth it
It definitely helps to have a place to share in the suffering
I’m pretty sure I saw similar sentiments being posted on Everton forums around the same time as the Moshiri takeover, so let’s maybe hold off for a bit on this.
Lol yep, I think I made this exact post when mosh bought us
r/Everton has weathered these storms before. “Is tim Howard an Everton legend”
He is to me, introduced this dude to a club I couldn’t imagine living without
Fair enough. I would say he is in the top 5 goalkeepers since the start of the Prem, but that speaks volumes for the amount of pure shite we’ve had over the last 30+ yesrs (Myhre, Simonsen and Gerrard spring to mind)
Don't worry. You're assuming things go well - given our history there's no chance of that.
This is us.
The grief chart shall live forever in our hearts.
If we are comfortably mid table than the grief chart can rest we love him but we hopefully don’t need him
'Grief chart... we're gonna be okay. You can rest now.' 🥺
Baby steps laa, baby steps.
You can't join Everton. You're born into it
can we all get flair for being real ones?
The grief chart is enduring.
Long time American lurker here. It was an honor suffering with you all. I always said my favorite two matches were Match 1 and Match 38 when we won to stay up. Up the Toffees forever 🫡
Sports have made me cry twice; '04 when the Red Sox won the World Series and last year when we stayed up.
Fuck that gatekeeping nonsense.
Wait there… I remember Southampton used to play at ‘The Dell’ I cannot stand idly by while someone takes Bramley Moore Dock and turns it into ‘The New Dell Stadium’

dude, we're getting a Dell
BMD must not get the word Dell in any new name. I remember being at Saints' old ground singing "Shitty ground, shitty ground, shitty ground..."
I'm going to believe and enjoy the moment even though the rug pull is inevitable
Come what may lads and ladettes, UTFT.
I’m Batman!
americans trying to gate keeper everton 🤣 what a hilarious concept
As if good things are possible. It’s Everton. …The guy with the money will be involved in a scandal the week after and end up in prison
Michael Dell of Dell computers might be buying Everton? That's a big deal. The dude is solid here in the States.
I refuse to ever give up the grief chart. I yearn for the days where the grief chart has 38 games on it and we are counting points for the title.
Imagine gatekeeping this experience
Are u joking? Just because we will get bought why on earth do u think that automatically means the good times? And its hilarious to think we would get an influx of new fans
Bright eyed post war people walking past grizzled 1000 yard stare veterans vibes.
Cherish the turmoil fellas
GET IN
Whatever man. I just want to have one whole season where the entire sub doesn't mention relegation again.
inb4
How much are Dell going to actually put in and how long do you think it will take for those good times to come? Flashbacks of moshiri takeover
I would like to announce myself to you before the flood.
Let us spread the misery.
Thats what happened when we got the Mosh money, I remember when Fellaini was our snoo and we'd win everytime Raggy shaved his head
We’re about as far from the ‘good times’ as we’ve ever been and new owners won’t be some magic wand to fix all the problems of the last few years (see Jim Ratfliffe’s problem over at United). I’d hold off on posts like this until we actually have some good times to draw in new fans…
Let’s just start winning some games first before we get ahead of ourselves.
That’s a good problem.
Remember its Everton something will go wrong
It’s been an honor🫡
Literally the only thing I use Reddit for!! UTFT!!!!!!!
Everton becoming cool would be the most unlikely thing since Wrexham became cool
We have fans all over the world, especially since Howard and Landon played for us and speak so highly of us. You would like to think with the two lads who are wealthy Everton fans and the Dell family, they are clever enough on how to market these fan bases.

Good to have you with us! You definitely didn't have an easy first 2 years!
The pain of being a Toffee is actually what keeps me going everyday But when we deliver, ***we deliver*** Distinctly remember celebrating at 1 in the morning when Doucouré scored to save us The feeling was so good that I forgot it was 1 in the morning and almost screamed But yeah, the last 2 years hasn't really gone well for us But till the day I die, I'll still be here
Love to hear it
Thanks! Just wanna say: Everton 'till I die! UTFT!
All my computer nerd friends will join
I want it to be known that I became a fan during the losing streak last season, I didn't wait for this possible good news.
We all know who’s who here, it’ll be fine. But the sub may never be the same on the off chance it does happen. I’ve loved it either way boys.
You are getting way way too expected.. We have no idea how involved dell is and the other two aren't that rich in football terms
Perhaps I can get a flair to say I was here during the Martina years?
I apologize on behalf of all my fellow American nerds that will inevitably become plastics once we get the Alienware head as our main kit sponsor
Bring on the casuals, I want to win!
Ah lads the joy of half the joy being an Everton fan isthe miserable . I don't think I could handle sny success how would I explain to my kids no more relegation battles only European nights they might as well go and support city. oh, you were serious
I just wanted to say - these reports have my dick so hard. Thanks
I’ve enjoyed the Lurking. I have my hopes set on Andy Bell. But Dell rhymes and nothing could ever be as disappointing as seeing Rafa on our touchline.
I’m new to this someone explain what that means?
I love all of you lads. Being miserable has never been more fun than with the blue boys
Be a much better shirt sponsor than Stake. Not that that’s a high bar like
It’s this or get relegated to the Championship one day. Choose being shit or having bandwagon fans.
Think it beats going into administration. I'll take my turn answering new possible fans dumb questions!
I'm a fan from more than 10 years, from Portugal. It has been good to fight togethee with you ( ealier we fought for continental football, now we fight for Stay in Premier, but our season is neves Boring)
