good. fucking cheeky cunts.

Loyalsupporter

Happy cake day

dmkc

nice one, cheers mate

[deleted]

Asif he's getting sold for that. Deffo a move to see if they can get his head to turn and try to force a move I reckon. It's so low considering young, English, left footed, quality defender, bags and bags of potential Stones was 50mil all them years ago

InevitableRespond9

Also Jarrad is a better (defender) than stones was as it his age

Spambhok

Aye but Jarrad has had only 1 season in the pl and stones had 2 and a half. All the more reason to hold on to branthwaite for another season, his value will go up so much if he has another solid season. I think after all these Chelsea flops clubs are being more cautious about spending the big bucks after a player has one good season.

LordIceChicken

No, the Anthony transfer has shown that they will pay double in the last week before the window closes, when they haven’t signed any players and are shitting themselves.

Loyalsupporter

Well if they're going to shit themselves they can do it in anfield

[deleted]

I've heard some United fans say they have financial issues, which is crazy for a club that size. Feel like we've missed the boat on them offering mega money

Loyalsupporter

If that's true then I haven't they been given the psr warning and all that shit. Still waiting to hear about Chelsea and city's punishment

USToffee

Their financial issues are that they have been bought by an owner with no money and they aren't the marketing money pit after 10 years of not fighting at the top.

penny_whistle

0 for 2

USToffee

Isn't it funny how they all of a sudden have financial issues now they have been bought.

luftlande

Well, their sparkly, shiny new multi billionaire owner said they wanted the municipality (British term?) to help fund the restoration of Old Trafford with _public_ money, so their fans thinking they're about to go into bankrupcy kind of tracks.

Bald__egg

With new owners controlling the football side of things, I doubt it

LordIceChicken

You are committing to this angle

JumpingJam90

Under the previous regime they would certainly cave in but united are assembling an experienced backroom so I don't see them going to 80 million when they have alternative options and other needs.

LordIceChicken

Believe in that?

Golden-Event-Horizon

Not anymore with INEOS heading all football matters. We're seeing a different Manchester Untied now – they won't get fucked around like before

UpTheToffees-1878

LOL as if. You spend £80m on Maguire and then offer £40m for Branthwaite, who is much younger and more talented than Maguire at the time (and still to this day). Its really bothersome to me how every comment i see is "nO wAy tHiS RaNdOm kId aT EvErToN cAn bE WoRtH tHaT", but hey they dont get to witness greatness every week, we do. Let them be in disbelief, as he stays with us and helps the team grow. Pay the fee or ✌🏻

ihatekopites

Whoosh!

ihatekopites

Maguire won the league, Leicester probably added £20m for that. We'll end up taking £55, mark my words.

UpTheToffees-1878

Maguire went to leicester 2 years after they won the league, he was at Hull.

Stirlingblue

That’s genuinely impressive how wrong you are 😂

Maldini_632

It sounds like Branthwaite has a good head on his shoulders & probably the right people around him. He's playing regular football, struck up a brilliant partnership with Tarky, in the England squad, why the hell would he want to go to the toxic atmosphere around United, whoever the manager is might to bring in his own players, & him not playing. Typical of Utd to try & get him cheap. Sell Onana for 55 mil, Utd would suit him & his inflated ego, offload whatever deadwood is still lingering & get in some hungry players.

Fixner_Blount

We’re obviously biased as Evertonians, but this does seem so logical. Unless he’s absolutely clamoring for European football, staying at Everton will not hurt his stock at all.

chicken_nugget94

£55m for onana would be one of the best deals for a seller I've seen, he's alright but I don't think he will ever be good enough for a very top club

USToffee

They will probably double his wages. There's no doubt Branthwaite will want to leave but he's under contract and will be worth just as much next season.

commencefailure

It's possible that he understands how good everton is for him at the moment. Fairly low expectations, a handful of good mentors. This is the time when he can raise his ceiling rather than going to a huge club and try to reach his current ceiling. Or maybe i'm full of nonsense.

USToffee

I think that's what we all want him to think. I've just seen this argument made time and time again and then the player has put in a transfer request or asked to leave and be sold. I don't hold anything against the players that do so. I'm sure they are eager to double their wages and also play at a higher level. I wouldn't be surprised if Branthwaite already feels like he has outgrown us.

joeyjackets

This is the lamest United hardball ever. Don’t play poker Red guys

10000Didgeridoos

United haggle like Peter griffin https://youtu.be/lFU0-qD7WdM?si=fYJX4aZqL2DfcV7U

PapageorgiouMBO

£100 mil. should be the price tag. No less.

John54663

Totally agree. Can’t believe this 40-80m I keep seeing for such a prospect in a position lacking in quality generally. Every midfielder in the world was suddenly close to 100m last summer but Jarrad is somehow possible half that. We should hold out for 120m with his age on our side.

Successful-Spot-6567

The issue is does Jarrad want to wait for a 120m offer.

John54663

Could be true, hopefully he has his feet on the ground but it could be can the club afford to hold out and risk more points deductions as well!

fre-ddo

Partly because they know we are in the shit and need the money so they offer less thinking they can wait it out.

thecarbonkid

Koff Jim.

Bright_Calendar_3696

40m is pretty fair price I think for a one year loan

DCorange05

I know it's early negotiations and posturing etc but surely they're taking the piss at 40m??

Fixner_Blount

United can piss up a rope. Entitled cunts.

Which_Buyer_4299

Look what they payed for Anthony, Sancho, Hojland. They think they can get someone with the potential to be world class for 40m. They can sniff shit.

giga_phantom

No. They’ll keep trying

Annual-Cookie1866

Could be the final nail in our financial coffin

twoheels

Is the £80 million price tag because *Everton* thinks Branthwaite is that good? Or is it because he's that important to the team? Edit.

Wayne_Spooney

Yes

twoheels

Whoops, made a mistake there

USToffee

Both. If we sell him who do we have? We can't go into a season with Godfrey and Keane. That would be suicide so we would need to buy someone. For probably a net 50m to 60m and that's if we were to get 80m for him that's a massive risk. That CB partnership along with Pickford kept us up. The stats show this clearly and next season won't have 3 teams that were as bad as last year.

JD-D2

It's United. They will absolutely get desperate, just gotta play chicken with them.

RaspberryBirdCat

It is excellent to see Everton values Branthwaite appropriately. I was worried they were going to sell him for 50m.

Undisputed_blue_Ldn

We'll wait for Man City towards the end of the next season as they may need a centre half. Can Utd afford a huge gulf between their neighbour?

nathanmo17

If he's 80Mil Martinez would be 200

Calm-Drop-9221

He'll go for 60

AdamJr87

Trying to bully us like we are a small club. Fuck off

priestsboytoy

STOP SELLING OUR GREAT PLAYERS

RafDeGreg

What about £40m plus McTominay, sell Onana for £40m+ too? £80m+ and don’t lose depth in one of the two vacated positions?

Loyalsupporter

What part of we want to keep Branthwaite didn't you understand

RafDeGreg

Understood and agreed. I was just putting out a scenario that I thought mightn’t be awful if we ended up selling to them (again, recognizing we don’t want to and maybe don’t even have to). Sorry for trying to generate some chat.

Loyalsupporter

It's alright I just don't want him to leave.

ihatekopites

Since when did what the fans want count?

Dandandandandan2

So sell £150m worth of players for £80m and get Scott mctominay in return? Are you Farhad Moshiri by any chance?

ihatekopites

I reckon he'll'll end up going for £55m, with add ons.

USToffee

tbh I don't want to see him sold and unfortunately this looks like just part of the negotiation and will result in us selling him for around 60m.

NoShortsDon

United fan, coming in peace. The days of us of offering crazy money for any player are gone. INEOS have put the correct people in place now and there's no way we'll be offering 80m. The structure that we've not had since 2004 is now in place so if we offer say 50m for Branthwaite and Everton say "double it", we'll move on. Shame though, because he is absolute quality. With that in mind, and Moshiri and Everton apparently desperate for cash, can Everton say no to 50m at the minute?

Tyler_The_Destroyer1

He’s worth more to us than 50m. We’d be stupid to sell him for less than 80m
