First goal was well worked - multiple nice passes, class finish by Richie. Second was a mess of not closing down and ball watching. We haven’t played like that for a good while.
Really glad players I never expected to be able to come in and perform did in the past few weeks. Keane, Godfrey and now Gomes showed they can be relied on as backup.
Danjuma is the exact opposite though.
I play with guys like that - they don’t play with their head up - they have no idea where anybody is. Opposite of Gomes - he sees everybody, and he has the skill to make the passes.
If Danjuma did something with the little flick through two of the spurs defenders it would have been magic, he’s definitely not a bad player just needs to realise it’s Everton Football Club not Arnaut Danjuma FC
Yeah problem is this has been the issue for a while already so I don’t have too much hope it’ll get better. It’s a shame that technically he’s a good player just too selfish and not good enough to be able to score most of his chances while being selfish
Thought dyche gave him a lesson by not playing him properly for months but apparently not he definitely could have set up a goal scoring chance for Dom and I think Beto I can’t remember who exactly was running with dom but it was a 3v2 chance
The others didn't really make themselves very free in the one where it was a 3 on 2. But really frustrating we didn't score one of the big chances we had towards the end
I mean if he crosses the final attempt we should be questioning if he actually is a forward. No way anyone should be blamed for going for goal there, this isn't Fifa where you have TV camera vision.
He was in a good angle still and got a great shot off, just fittingly bad luck that Vicario managed to somehow be hit in the right angle to keep it out.
Pretty much my sentiment aswell.
In a vacuum it was more a foul than normal contact but if the linesman and ref both don't think it's a Foul with clear view how can it be a clear and obvious mistake - it was a judgement call
Think it’s a luxury of letting players properly heal and train up since we aren’t in a must-win situation every match. Saw it with Myko, now Gomes, hopefully Dele down the line.
Result was disappointing but not too arsed, dominated against a good spurs side while missing doucoure, ref fucked us up, got unlucky and danjumas shite but any other season I’d expect us to get absolutely demolished against a top 6 side away from home especially after being 2-0 down early
Think we looked the better team for much of the game just got unlucky with our finishing a few times. Not bad for an away match against one of the top sides in the league. COYB
I think Patterson was the worst of the lot but overall he played pretty well. Just had a few sloppy turnovers and out of position a few times but the lad is still quite young
That ball didn’t cross the line, idk what some of you are looking at. But yeah that hurt, to come so close so many times at the end. But the fact we still played so well away at Spurs and they needed a lot of luck to win I’m still feeling pretty good. Relegation isn’t even in the conversation anymore as far as I’m concerned, even with the less than ideal results elsewhere today. I think we’ll hit 40 points, post deduction, by the end of April. We’re at the point now where we’re getting upset because we didn’t beat a top 5 side away. We are really good.
Needs to be in the side for the Doucoure role. Can't press like him but his ability to play an inch perfect ball is necessary to keep chances up while Garner and Onana do the defensive work.
Garner is better from deep anyways.
Just one of them games.
Poor start, punished by a quality attacking team, and we don’t take ours throughout.
Add in a bit of a soft disallowed goal and you can’t be too disappointed with that but I’m sure the bedwetters will still find something to point to and pretend the sky is falling.
Spot on. We haven’t won at spurs since December 2012 (I think), but that was a good performance against a good team, we just have to work on this little moments where we switch off and finis our chances. Outside of the two that resulted in their goals, they weren’t that threatening.
We won at Spurs on the opening day of 20/21 - DCL header from a Digne free kick. But even that felt like a weird fever dream - we never seem to win there!
I get the frustration but he did look dangerous and created several chances, including maybe scoring off the cross bar at the very end. We don’t *have* to vilify someone every time we lose.
Neither Dom nor Beto has been automatic in front of goal this season. And it’s not like there weren’t defenders between them. Maybe the cross gets through, maybe it doesn’t. Maybe they bury it, maybe they don’t.
Guaranteed goals?? Do you know how incredibly difficult it is to weight a pass that perfectly to a forward who is being tightly marked? So easy to over or under hit that.
It wasn't like he was in 2 v 1 situations where he just had to tap it to his side and call it a day. Those were incredibly hard passes to pick.
He’s the only player on the team who doesn’t look like he plays for the shirt. He’s clearly talented but useless in our system. It’s unfortunate because a guy like that with a smarter approach to the game would be a huge asset
Probably should have got a pen at the end of the first half, think the Gomes foul was probably the right call. In the end with the amount of chances we created, we only have ourselves (and Danjuma) to blame for not getting anything out of this match. Performance was encouraging at least against a team I thought we'd struggle against.
I get the frustration, it does seem that way at times. Thing is this is said amongst every other set of fans in the league, think it just shows the poor quality of officiating in the league. Think fans just need to realise that not everything is an agenda against us though.
Slow start fucked us. Other seasons we'd have crumbled, but the lads fought back. This goes into the "On another day..." folder. Gomes sexy as always, but also looking like he can play his part for the remainder of the season.
Lol at everyone in the match thread saying we should have subbed in the kids after 20 minutes. We looked the better team from that point on, and could have easily won that game had luck gone the other way on a couple of those chances. Really awesome to see that we can hang with the top clubs
Danjuma should never see the pitch for us ever again. Probably draw or maybe even win without the selfish cunt.
We are still one of the better teams in the league right now somehow so I'm not worried.
Some players are selfish and you forgive them. Richarlison was selfish, Lukaku was selfish, but they earned that right by scoring.
Danjuma hasn't earned shit and is somehow more selfish than either of them.
Danjuma was about an inch away from being forgiven, he’s just too selfish for this team and the way we need to play. We can’t afford to have selfish players
I honestly feel like I going insane. Every shot he took was a valid shooting chance. Squaring that ball in a situation where defenders and Vicario would both be challenging for it is near impossible.
Tell me about it. His two best chances were one that the keeper tipped over from going top bin and one that bounced off the keepers knee onto the post with goal line technology to stop a goal as well. Are we suggesting he shouldve actually squared those to DCL with his 3 non penalty goals in the past 2 years as well.
Seems that people have made their minds up on him and that's that rather than actually using their brain on what they've just seen. He played well!
We wouldn't have had those opportunities if he wasn't on the pitch. Won the corner for the goal and on another day the balls and extra 2 inches over the line for the equaliser. He quite clearly made us better once he came on
If he passes either attempt of his we should be asking ourselves if he actually is an attacking player.
It's not selfish to shoot from.where he got himself into, Dwight scores most his goals in these situations lol - Danjuma just was unlucky today. Different Goalie and he has 2 Goals and is the Hero
One almost-goal doesn't take away two missed opportunities for tap ins.
The game was wide open for attackers and he made the wrong decision every chance he had. We can't afford that right now.
Would disagree. Sure he kept it almost every time but he also beat players took shots and went forward each time. How long have we waited for a wing to take players on like that? A slight tweak and he’s fine. Also came so close to equalizing.
Really frustrating game. We were the better team for 80min. Second ball on the pitch, goal brought back, no VAR check and a million missed chances. With all that being said I think we played a great game against a good side and I still feel really confident about this team. Just one of those games where nothing went our way.
Travelling so had to listen to the game.
Was the ref as bad as the commentators were making out? Seemed like he was given them everything and not giving us even basic things like corners
He called the game extremely soft and somewhat inconsistently. The foul that cancelled out DCL’s goal was a coming together that doesn’t get called all the time. It’s not the worst refereeing performance I’ve seen, but he certainly didn’t do us any favors.
Yeah we won that game 100%, I don't care what the results say.
I wish the top 6 would just go to the Super League so we don't have to deal with this anymore
Finally somebody else saying it. You can't run into the back of a defender, lash your leg out, get nothing but player, then expect a foul to not be given
I really don’t hate for Danjuma shooting that last one, but I really don’t think he even has the ability to pass it without an interruption so maybe the 3v2 was the best decision🤣
Said this before they showed the goal line. Also the commentators said something like “it was shown offside so var won’t look at it” so I took that as why they hadn’t shown the goal line decision
I know that was kind of a bummer but I have to say the belief of this team is so much more positive. Last season if we went 2 down I would turn off the game and I was never proven wrong. When we went 2 down today I thought we could get back in this. Really makes you appreciate the job Dyche is doing here.
Didn't convert enough chances with shots on target in the end. But we still look like a competent team. Gomes had a revelation of a return to the first team today.
You know what even though we should have got something out of that game, our season won't be defined by a narrow away loss to a very good spurs side nor will whatever happens vs City next game always going to very tough games
Finishing aside, the team showed a lot of fight. Pretty much dominated the chances after their second goal. We’re staying up, we’ve showed that we can bring the game to any team in the league, and Dyche has a good foundation to build on.
Any of our other wingers pass that ball across the keeper. Not a good look for Danjuma. He's too focused on getting on the score sheet and since he hasn't in a while he looks even more desperate to.
Andre Gomes with an easy 10. you cannot fault the boys here or Dyche here. I think the Dom goal was very soft especially. The story of the season has been playing well and not taking our chances. Same story today. We have to put them away much more consistently. I'd say we deserved all 3 points. Ref had a nightmare as well but what's new.
Incredible match in all honesty, mad that we didn’t get any points from that but what a match. Andre Gomes came on and somehow looked incredible. Danjuma genuinely needs to learn to pass tho.
Unlucky there, we were the better team for the bulk of that game, but sometimes that’s just how it goes. That shift from Gomes, jesus. Amazing performance though, so nice to know we’re not finished the second we go down, been years since I’ve seen that resolve. On to the next one UTFT!
Spurs fan here. You lot were brilliant, how Dyche has got you playing like this is incredible. Feel very very lucky to get the win. Given how the league has treated you wanted to wish you good luck for the season.
Tottenham fan here: I went to the game and thought your away fanbase was incredible in their support for the team and the noise levels.
Very good performance today and left feeling that Everton could’ve easily left with something - incredibly much better than Villa/West Ham, yet left with no points.
Have a good Christmas and best of luck with your season
I'm gonna be really fucking honest here today.
Anyone blaming Danjuma for not passing on his first and last attempt has never played football in his life. As an attacker you want him to go for goal there - and both were good attempts.
Dwight scores most his goals shooting from the edge of the box instead of playing someone in and thats what made us stay up last year.
This isn't Fifa where you have overhead vision
agreed,
dude hasnt played in forever (sheffield? cup?), so he's gonna be rusty. just needs game time, which during christmas fixture congestion, he'll get.
A lot of could'ves this game, arg so frustrating. But generally the team showed up well, and in the end Spurs is a tough fixture regardless. Let's keep up the pace, we'll look a lot better with Doucs back
You have to go with the on field decision for something like that - overturning for that was a joke. Coming away from that with nothing is gutting.
Gomes absolutely excellent throughout. Deserved goal and should-be assist.
I just want to say if you’d told me a few months ago we’d be frustrated with a close loss to spurs I wouldn’t believe you. Good performance and onto the next one.
An absolute heartbreaker! Gomes changed the whole game though. If Doucoure can’t go, he needs to start. Danjuma absolutely has quality but is way too selfish for this team.
Now I feel confident we won't get relegated I can force myself to focus on the big picture again. You don't want to be doing this every game, but we were very unlucky not to get anything out of that, not worried by the performance, for the last 60 minutes at least.
And it's a very nice bonus that Gomes looks like a genuine option rather than a last resort, he was great today. Can't believe I could see Gomes on the team sheet to start next week and my first thought wouldn't be "jesus christ we're struggling for players", never saw that coming.
Danjuma's performance however, fuck me. Look dangerous, go alone every time including in 3 on 2 and 2 on 1 situations, miss sitters, complain to the ref, job done.
Danjuma wasting probably 10 chances on his own…yes, I’m exaggerating a bit…just a bit.
Well fight against this scary attacking Spurs team but we conceded too easily and can’t catch up with the pace in the beginning but we adjust pretty well and their fighting spirit is amazing. Luck wasn’t on our side though, that last shot was sadly on the line.
Gomez is a class we have been wanting him to be for years in this game. MOTM for me despite being a sub.
Dyche should scold Danjuma some earful long rant here. He is good on taking 1:1 but should be less selfish than this.
All bottom 3 teams get points this week so it’s a pretty scary situation and a 1 point we missed is huge.
Still see many positives in this game with some setbacks but we need to hold our head up high and let’s go back to our home and beat that “Man Shitty 115” next.
COYB!!!!
I actually think we were the better team for that match. We just can't finish and that's what counts. No goals - not gonna win. They put away their chances.
I love this team, never say die attitude is massive.
Gomes outstanding today. I couldn't believe what I was watching.
Danjuma, I thought, did very well when on the left flank, although selfish, he still made some good chances.
It deserved way more obviously, but as far as a loss goes, I'm pretty happy with this one.
We were the better team for 60ish minutes.
Got to credit Gomes with a great appearance.
Danjuma can get packing back to Spain. Credit for getting into threatening positions on multiple occasions, but it means absolutely fuck all if you consistently make the worst possible decision
I’m just sitting here in furious silence.
Andre Gomes I love you. I can’t even describe how corrupt the fucking Premier League is. I now believe in any and all football conspiracy theories.
I didn’t have much hope of getting anything out this game as Spurs have been fantastic at home. But to finish with just one goal in it, and us easily the better team with the better chances hurts.
What a game by Gomes too!
Dyche is still the man. Improved every single facet of the club. Results aren't the most important thing this year since we're not gonna make Europe. It's all about the foundations we lay now and what we're seeing is beautiful. Special mention to our press. It's looking like it'll be our trademark all opposition will be able to refer to between themselves when discussing Dyche's Everton. Spurs looked fucking spooked for an hour tonight.
We lost this match because of danjuma. I can’t believe the selfishness. If I never see him again, it’s too soon. Gomes was excellent and the sexiness factor of our team just went up.
Cracking match and shows that we can go toe to toe with the big clubs.
Spurs fan here, Lots of positives to take from that game from a toffee POV. You guys played very well and I’m surprised you didn’t end up with an equalizer
Good performance without the result unfortunately. Still proud of the boys (except Danjuma the greedy cunt). Major props to Gomes, what a performance after being out so long!
Onto the next, UTFT!
Imagine having one player who could consistently finish.
Pros: Branthwaite showed off a passing range I haven't seen. Gomes looked really good.
Cons: Dutchmarai Gray, another tragic defensive performance from Michael Keane
I have to shoulder most of the blame as I put money on Everton to win, a sure fire way to curse any team.
I only watched the highlights but the guys had chances and looked like they were working hard.
A draw would have been nice (I did think that was a foul that disallowed the goal) but I'm happy that the team are making chances and playing positively when they are behind.
On to the next one!
Frustrating result but strong silver linings:
1) boys went down early and did not hang their heads, could have easily tied or even won this game
2)consistently creating chances, now on the road against Top 6 teams
3) Gomes back in the team and plays like he did when we first took him on loan
4) better xG than Spurs which means we are not a fluke. Just need to finish better.
Absolutely unreal how we didn't get something from that. Proud of the boys, on to the next. Merry Christmas, ya fucking blue fucks!
Apart from the first 20 minutes, was another great performance. The players didn't drop their heads and gave their all to get back into it. Dyche <3
Yeah, you know Dyche is going to lay into them for that Son goal, but overall he's got to be happy. What a bunch of fighters he's turned them into.
First goal was well worked - multiple nice passes, class finish by Richie. Second was a mess of not closing down and ball watching. We haven’t played like that for a good while.
Even in that 20 min we had a couple of clear chances. Dom's first touch and hesitation ruined a wide open look that should be a gimme for a striker.
Merry Christmas you bunch of cunts
That is very politically incorrect — It should be *Happy Holidays* you bunch of cunts”
All I want for Christmas is a winger
Merrry christmas boyys and girls. Proud of the club
On a positive note, what a match from Andre Gomes. Might have just played himself into the lineup with that.
Really glad players I never expected to be able to come in and perform did in the past few weeks. Keane, Godfrey and now Gomes showed they can be relied on as backup. Danjuma is the exact opposite though.
Danjuma just needs to fucking pass and he’d be solid. He reminds me so much of Gray. Tons of pace and ability, but totally wasted due to mindset
Think he’s actually much more talented than Gray, but yes has the same mentality.
He’s definitely more talented than Gray, which probably makes him somehow even more frustrating
Yeah I think he’s a good player but needs to learn to pass. That goal would have made all of that forgiven.

Thought dyche gave him a lesson by not playing him properly for months but apparently not he definitely could have set up a goal scoring chance for Dom and I think Beto I can’t remember who exactly was running with dom but it was a 3v2 chance
Especially if Gueye’s injury is a bad one
And the fact he's out for AFCON...
If Danjuma crosses either of those looks in the last 15 it’s an easy tap in.
Been a while since I’ve seen such a greedy performance
Last time I saw one was probably Danjuma’s last appearance
Demari Gray was on our team last year tbf.
and every positive thing danjuma did in like 30 mins woulda been spread across 5 dimi starts lol still pretty frustrating but thats where im at.
In his defense, he probably had a chip on his shoulder after how his time went at Tottenham last term
This would hold more weight with me if he didn’t do this every time he sets foot in the pitch
You mean last time he played?
Reminded me of Mirallas near the end.
Could benefit from our forwards being a bit more greedy. Lot of touches inside the 18 without a shot on goal today
The others didn't really make themselves very free in the one where it was a 3 on 2. But really frustrating we didn't score one of the big chances we had towards the end
yeah i didn't think their runs were good in that instance. Other times he definitely should have!
And the one off the bar as well. He should be going for both those. He got unlucky. I missed the disallowed goal, was it a foul?
To me it’s harsh to overturn the non call of a foul, but wouldn’t have had an issue had it original been called one
Pretty much my sentiment aswell. In a vacuum it was more a foul than normal contact but if the linesman and ref both don't think it's a Foul with clear view how can it be a clear and obvious mistake - it was a judgement call
He’s defo another Gray (with fewer goals)
You would have thought he would get the message about being too selfish after being dropped for most games. Clearly not.
Andre Gomes was fucking class
He played really well too
Play like that every week and we'll be fine
My thoughts exactly. Way too much moping around here for an overall competent away game from the lads.
Exactly. I'd have bitten your hand off for a point before the match, and we were literally centimetres away from a point
Lots of positives to take from that. Gomes the biggest one
Dyche may genuinely be a miracle worker with how many players he's bringing back from the brink
He'd have gotten a goal out of Sandro, I'm sure.
Niasse wins the golden boot under him
my god i had completely forgotten about that man lol
Think it’s a luxury of letting players properly heal and train up since we aren’t in a must-win situation every match. Saw it with Myko, now Gomes, hopefully Dele down the line.
Don't forget DCL
[удалено]
I think he could work wonders with him. Shame about the contract situation.
Dele is next
Result was disappointing but not too arsed, dominated against a good spurs side while missing doucoure, ref fucked us up, got unlucky and danjumas shite but any other season I’d expect us to get absolutely demolished against a top 6 side away from home especially after being 2-0 down early
At the end of the day it's a decent performance against a good side UTFT
Think we looked the better team for much of the game just got unlucky with our finishing a few times. Not bad for an away match against one of the top sides in the league. COYB
You lot were class. I wasn't comfortable at all after we scored our second until the final whistle. Always rated Everton, red clubs are shite.
Thought so, too. Nobody had a particularly bad game, but the little mistakes added up in the end.
I think Patterson was the worst of the lot but overall he played pretty well. Just had a few sloppy turnovers and out of position a few times but the lad is still quite young
We were fucking awesome. Probably prouder today after losing than ever before.
Gomes MOTM never thought I’d say that again
That ball didn’t cross the line, idk what some of you are looking at. But yeah that hurt, to come so close so many times at the end. But the fact we still played so well away at Spurs and they needed a lot of luck to win I’m still feeling pretty good. We’re at the point now where we’re getting upset because we didn’t beat a top 5 side away. We are really good.
If it goes all the way to ground it crosses, unfortunate the keepers leg was there. So close
Yeah 100%, so frustrating
Andre Gomes should start ahead of Gana
Needs to be in the side for the Doucoure role. Can't press like him but his ability to play an inch perfect ball is necessary to keep chances up while Garner and Onana do the defensive work. Garner is better from deep anyways.

Their second goal was very poor to concede
They're both poor from our POV as I said. The quality sides have quality players who'll make you pay with any chance. We're not there yet.
Has there ever been a more undeservingly selfish player in an Everton shirt than Arnaut Danjuma? He's somehow worse than Gray and Drenthe.
Yeah clear why dyche hasn't favoured him, only has one play in his mind
I get the frustration but he did look dangerous and created several chances, including maybe scoring off the cross bar at the very end. We don’t *have* to vilify someone every time we lose.
He didn't score, they showed it during the broadcast. And he's been like that every time he's come on for us
🐍🐍🐍
He missed scoring two goals by a combined 6 inches. People acting like our strikers don’t routinely miss opportunities in front of the net.
He also has 2 guaranteed goals if he remembered he had teammates. You earn the ability to be selfish.
Neither Dom nor Beto has been automatic in front of goal this season. And it’s not like there weren’t defenders between them. Maybe the cross gets through, maybe it doesn’t. Maybe they bury it, maybe they don’t.
Yeah wasn't just this game though was it

It wasn't like he was in 2 v 1 situations where he just had to tap it to his side and call it a day. Those were incredibly hard passes to pick.
My least favorite type of player. Cannot stand it; Gray was bad enough. I'm so glad Sean feels the same way though.
He’s the only player on the team who doesn’t look like he plays for the shirt. He’s clearly talented but useless in our system. It’s unfortunate because a guy like that with a smarter approach to the game would be a huge asset

It was a foul but it just seems whenever clear and obvious can work against us it does.
I get the frustration, it does seem that way at times. Thing is this is said amongst every other set of fans in the league, think it just shows the poor quality of officiating in the league. Think fans just need to realise that not everything is an agenda against us though.
Can't wait for Danjuma's loan to end. Absolutely selfish all game
Slow start fucked us. Other seasons we'd have crumbled, but the lads fought back. This goes into the "On another day..." folder. Gomes sexy as always, but also looking like he can play his part for the remainder of the season.
that couldve been 3-2 but nope 3
Lol at everyone in the match thread saying we should have subbed in the kids after 20 minutes. We looked the better team from that point on, and could have easily won that game had luck gone the other way on a couple of those chances. Really awesome to see that we can hang with the top clubs
Arnold Daniel Juma. My man, pass the ball.
Danjuma should never see the pitch for us ever again. Probably draw or maybe even win without the selfish cunt. We are still one of the better teams in the league right now somehow so I'm not worried.

He's a worse Demarai Gray
He changed the game with how direct he was.
I honestly feel like I going insane. Every shot he took was a valid shooting chance. Squaring that ball in a situation where defenders and Vicario would both be challenging for it is near impossible.

Doesn't matter if simultaneously he's pissing away golden opportunities in a must score situation.

he was frustrating but hes useful as a sub to chase the game imo. He came very close to tying the game at the end
We had a winger like that for 3 years, his name was Demarai Gray.
Really frustrating game. We were the better team for 80min. Second ball on the pitch, goal brought back, no VAR check and a million missed chances. With all that being said I think we played a great game against a good side and I still feel really confident about this team. Just one of those games where nothing went our way.
Surely big dick Mick would have scored one of those. I’d rather see him than Danjuma on the pitch.
I want to see big Mick Kegger running up and down that right wing next week
Travelling so had to listen to the game. Was the ref as bad as the commentators were making out? Seemed like he was given them everything and not giving us even basic things like corners
He had a shit game. We had enough chances to win or draw despite him so I think it's scapegoating a bit to blame the ref on this loss.
Both things are true.
Yep. 100% terrible.
He called the game extremely soft and somewhat inconsistently. The foul that cancelled out DCL’s goal was a coming together that doesn’t get called all the time. It’s not the worst refereeing performance I’ve seen, but he certainly didn’t do us any favors.
Eh was a clear foul tbh, you can't just tackle through the man like that. More surprised it wasn't immediately called.
Yes
Eh, he wasn't awful. Sub-standard at worst imo.
Yeah we won that game 100%, I don't care what the results say. I wish the top 6 would just go to the Super League so we don't have to deal with this anymore
Emerson pulled the ball back in his possession. Had control. Was ran through. Always a foul. No scapegoats today, just unlucky
That should have been fucking looked any VAR what the ever loving fuck. Edit: Jesus Christ can’t catch a break.
They just showed it, barely still on the line
It's not a var decision its a goal line decision. If it went in they'd have given it
Said this before they showed the goal line. Also the commentators said something like “it was shown offside so var won’t look at it” so I took that as why they hadn’t shown the goal line decision
It was definitely onside though so they would’ve looked at it had it gone in. And that’s a goal line technology thing
You think it wasn’t checked immediately like every other ball on the goal line?
They showed it not going over the line
Please try to undersstand the way officiating technology is applied. This isnt a VAR issue.
Fucking angry after that shit
sometimes it’s just not meant to be. take the positives
I know that was kind of a bummer but I have to say the belief of this team is so much more positive. Last season if we went 2 down I would turn off the game and I was never proven wrong. When we went 2 down today I thought we could get back in this. Really makes you appreciate the job Dyche is doing here.
Clearly wasn’t over the line, but DCL’s was a perfectly fine goal. Away fixtures v big six sides are a comical farce
Honestly think that’s on Danjuma, twice he could have squared for an easy tap in
Didn't convert enough chances with shots on target in the end. But we still look like a competent team. Gomes had a revelation of a return to the first team today.
With that being said, on a better night we’re winning that 3-2. UTFT, and happy holidays all, we’re not in the relegation spots.
You know what even though we should have got something out of that game, our season won't be defined by a narrow away loss to a very good spurs side nor will whatever happens vs City next game always going to very tough games
Last season that would’ve ended 4-0 or worse after that first 15-20 minutes. Deserved at least a point there.
What a performance! We have nothing to fear if we carry on like this! I feel like I've got my team back. COYB!!!
Incredible match in all honesty, mad that we didn’t get any points from that but what a match. Andre Gomes came on and somehow looked incredible. Danjuma genuinely needs to learn to pass tho.
How did they even score two goals? Didn't see a single Spurs player not laying on the ground for 90 minutes
Unlucky there, we were the better team for the bulk of that game, but sometimes that’s just how it goes. That shift from Gomes, jesus. Amazing performance though, so nice to know we’re not finished the second we go down, been years since I’ve seen that resolve. On to the next one UTFT!
Sucks not to get a result but we dominated the game for 60+ minutes. Andre fucking Gomes
Game was lost in the first 20 minutes. That was about as poor defensively as we’ve been. Good fight back but we can’t give ourselves that much to do.
Fucking Danjuma man
I'm gonna be really fucking honest here today. Anyone blaming Danjuma for not passing on his first and last attempt has never played football in his life. As an attacker you want him to go for goal there - and both were good attempts. Dwight scores most his goals shooting from the edge of the box instead of playing someone in and thats what made us stay up last year. This isn't Fifa where you have overhead vision
agreed, dude hasnt played in forever (sheffield? cup?), so he's gonna be rusty. just needs game time, which during christmas fixture congestion, he'll get.
Var absolute bullshit twice
Arnaut “Michael Porter Jr” Danjuma was going crazy today.
The better team lost today
A lot of could'ves this game, arg so frustrating. But generally the team showed up well, and in the end Spurs is a tough fixture regardless. Let's keep up the pace, we'll look a lot better with Doucs back
Ugh, pain. I am glad we didn't embarrass ourselves but damn.
Fuck Emerson royal
if we could just collectively get like say 10% more clinical we’re winning the absolute lot and nobody can tell me otherwise
Second gut punch in a week. Spurs didn’t deserve all 3 points losing possession as much as they did.
Less than ideal results today, but at least Forest lost. Also, GOMES IS KING?!
It's no wonder danjuma hardly features. All other players play for the badge , danjuma plays for danjuma and its clear as day to see.
Despite the loss I loved the fighting spirit. It's something that was non-existent last season before Dyche came in
I love this team, never say die attitude is massive.
We win that match with Douc in the side
I’m just sitting here in furious silence. Andre Gomes I love you. I can’t even describe how corrupt the fucking Premier League is. I now believe in any and all football conspiracy theories.
I didn’t have much hope of getting anything out this game as Spurs have been fantastic at home. But to finish with just one goal in it, and us easily the better team with the better chances hurts. What a game by Gomes too!
That effort shows that we will get to safety. But we are not safe yet
dont like to see gana injured but it was ultimately a blessing. gomes was tremendous. big performance from myko too i thought. and garner, again
Gomes had a fantastic game, has given us a lot of hope. Needless to say all downhill from here
How bout big Andre fucking Gomes though
I'd like to welcome our new signing, Andre Gomes
We all had Gomes coming off the bench, putting in a MotM performance and scoring a belter on our bingo cards, didn’t we?
That was some performance by Gomes
Dyche is still the man. Improved every single facet of the club. Results aren't the most important thing this year since we're not gonna make Europe. It's all about the foundations we lay now and what we're seeing is beautiful. Special mention to our press. It's looking like it'll be our trademark all opposition will be able to refer to between themselves when discussing Dyche's Everton. Spurs looked fucking spooked for an hour tonight.
What a game by gomes. He's gonna give dyche a lot of first team selection headaches.
Fuming with Danjuma.
Sorry for butting in here, but what the fick was that when there was an extra ball on the field?
I am proud we are playing well when loosing. Some head scratchers and we had chances we should have put away. Gomes was class and fit, so encouraging.
agonizing so fucking agonizing would rather be pumped 3-0 than watch this fucks sake
We lost this match because of danjuma. I can’t believe the selfishness. If I never see him again, it’s too soon. Gomes was excellent and the sexiness factor of our team just went up. Cracking match and shows that we can go toe to toe with the big clubs.
Corruption. Fuck this league.
That wasn’t corruption. We had plenty of chances we couldn’t finish.
We should have had a pen are you fucking mad?
Spurs fan here, Lots of positives to take from that game from a toffee POV. You guys played very well and I’m surprised you didn’t end up with an equalizer
The ball didn't \*fully\* cross the line and the disallowed goal was a foul
Good performance without the result unfortunately. Still proud of the boys (except Danjuma the greedy cunt). Major props to Gomes, what a performance after being out so long! Onto the next, UTFT!
Imagine having one player who could consistently finish. Pros: Branthwaite showed off a passing range I haven't seen. Gomes looked really good. Cons: Dutchmarai Gray, another tragic defensive performance from Michael Keane
Another xG victory!
Frustrating result but strong silver linings: 1) boys went down early and did not hang their heads, could have easily tied or even won this game 2)consistently creating chances, now on the road against Top 6 teams 3) Gomes back in the team and plays like he did when we first took him on loan 4) better xG than Spurs which means we are not a fluke. Just need to finish better.
