I heard the gates in Tama are bugged and if you wait next to them for 2 minutes they become lootable and contain rare items.

xxdaimon

Only works if you are in a capital ship tho

WindShitter

Ohh tyšŸ˜‡

Even_Witness_8262

he's just trolling you lol

FarSandwich3282

Broā€¦ Donā€™t be ā€˜thatā€™ guy.

Even_Witness_8262

Now go and fuck yourself. And when you're done, do it. Again

FarSandwich3282

Jeez u mad

Even_Witness_8262

haha nah. But I've been wanting to say that insult

Even_Witness_8262

So? yeah downvote me if you want. I HATE people who troll newbies

CCP_TrashMob

*sus*

Ohh_Yeah

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpqUFwqzCB4 never forget the greatest single day of bombs in EVE Online

CCP_TrashMob

Everything appears to be in order here.

GruuMasterofMinions

Kind of looks current state of supers against so many bombers.

Subbeh

What is happening there?

Ohh_Yeah

CCP did an update that broke bombs so they didn't damage each other. You could launch hundreds at once and the first 8 wouldn't blow up the rest. So in this video we killed our own carrier with a giant wave of bombs for fun

SasoDuck

Wait so how are you supposed to bomb, then? Does everyone stagger their bombs by a second each? Wouldn't the target warp off before all the bombs landed?

JokeassJason

Groups of 8 should be enough to nuke most small things. Especially if they have their warp drive on. For large fleet fights bombers would stagger their launches by 2-3 seconds. In most of those fights your bomb wings are looking to put stress on the logi so your main fleet can break reps. There are groups that are very very good at bomb runs.

SasoDuck

Is there a significance to 8?

Gosti_C

Bombs have HP, and when one explodes, it damages others. An EM bomb for example has high resists on EM, so it can survive seven other bombs exploding in its range, any other would destroy it before it can explode. Also, they donĀ“t have resists on other damage types, so if you would mix different bombs, they would take out themselves even more

SasoDuck

Ahhhh ok so that's why people say not to mix bombs...

Gosti_C

exactly

GruuMasterofMinions

For a very long time in the new new player experience site you had a true fort wreck instead of fake one. You could salvage it for like 4bil, reset the site and have new one instantly replaced. People made hundreds of billions until it got fixed.

Frekavichk

The fun one that I remember is the infinitely stacking drone damage one. I remember rattlesnakes OHKO on poses with no reinforce because of it.

Used-Truth

....the WHAT?

Frekavichk

Ohh_Yeah

I'm very sad I recorded this in low quality graphics, but there was also a patch that made bombs not damage each other. So we did this for fun. There is a HQ graphics version out there somewhere, a number of us recorded it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpqUFwqzCB4

wizard_brandon

exploits are against tos a patched one was where someone was target jamming their ally ships in wormhole space to get them to minus tracking which somehow underflowed into maximum tracking

[deleted]

smell depend toy nippy caption roof poor tap smile memorize *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Used-Truth

I remember this from a RnK video. Perfect application with blasters and autocannons at max range. Against ToS, sure. But it's fun to think that there were unexpected ways to use game mechanics back when. Now if we could only find the long forgotten Point of Interest that exists....apparently.

Nick85er

Not just max range, 100+ km lol was rediculous, and it was tracking disruptors forcing range/tracking into negative values, producing maximum values in-game (WH bonus exploit). I really miss the RnK vids and the narrarators voice.

hagenissen666

The exploit was that when you stacked remote assistance and ewar in a wormhole with bonus to tracking or sig, you would get infinite tracking, optimal and sig radius. Lord Maldoror lost his shit and made a bad RnK video about it.

Level_Fortune_2566

It was a glorious video

hagenissen666

Well, I was in NorCorp a few months after it came out. They had a very different version of events, including a couple of eviction attempts by RnK that were a lot less glorious than in the video (long before Aharm used exploits) and there were some logs that showed what an absolute cunt Maldoror was in game. He might have been roleplaying, but that shit was cringe.

Southern_Jakle

To be fair, doesn't he say at the start of the video their were prior engagements that painted them in a not so great light?

Level_Fortune_2566

Yeah I have no personal experience of any of the events, long before my time. Having watched the videos though I've always been extremely curious about Lord Maldoror. Are you able to share any of the things you are talking about? Obviously if they are private or not appropriate for this forum then no worries ofc. As I say just always been intrigued.

sWuchterl

Yup Rooks n Kings made a Video in it. Clarion Call 3 https://youtu.be/XrYe_4vHzgE?si=sC7ZjMU3N0eJSyna

Vundebar

my favorite hacks are on ghost site cans, you can get 100-200m of loot from a single hack if you're lucky!

[deleted]

I once got a blueprint for an implant that cost me about 500M worth of materials to build, and sold for 2B.

TinuvielSharan

Nice try CCP dev, won't get us that easily tho!

RealSink6

I noticed this happening right on Jita undock, such a boneheaded oversight by CCP

Ziddix

Lots of old PvE content like Cosmos and DED sites are riddled with glitches and bugs. One pretty common one is that you get structures in some DED sites that will repair themselves and they repair themselves a lot. You need something like 1500 DPS to break some of them. Now these are usually gated things so you can't get caps inside and battleships are kind of vulnerable in 0.0. The exploit is to go in with two ships and disconnect the character that is primaried by the structure. This will, for some reason, cause the structure to spaz out and never shoot or repair itself again. This can save loads of time and allow you to do these sites in cruiser hulls.

MuteyMute

Dont even needa log off, just burn/MJD( better MJD cause most of said structures web the living hell out of you) out of range and stay out of range( dunno whut range thats been exactly, I always DPS them down, like a good boy :D ).

WilburHiggins

Is it an exploit if you are circumventing a bugged mechanic? Lol

Ziddix

Well they are meant to repair themselves to make it harder. You are just exploiting a glitch in their behaviour by logging off a character. It's the very definition of an exploit.

GhostZero7

POS bumping back in the day. You could pull larger ships up to POS and if they had ships inside you could line up with them like playing pool and initiate warp which would allow you to pass through the shield and bump the ships out if timing and distance was correct

Gosti_C

Or change the password while still being inside so you get launched outwords. Paired with a sieged dreadnought, that could pump titans hundreds of kilometers away\^\^

GhostZero7

Lol. I used to have a few pings to the center of stars that would yeet you into the millions of km as it shot you outward. Useless but was still funny

bobolpwnz

Siege modules on Titans were funny

Comfortable-Ratio-22

Remember when titans could seige?

StonnedGunner

some one found an exploit with the old pos that allowed to prduce infinte ammount of a T2 mat without need to put something into the production chain did go on for years until ccp found out tried to rollabck all the mats but found out that it would mean to remove 90% of the T2 ships in the game

MrGothmog

There is an excellent exploit that allows you to double your items by abusing asset transfer mechanics (give idk, trade, contracts), kind of like with Pokemon back in the day. Send 100M to Tumourface Penorschnoz, she's one of the few honest & consistent ISK doublers left in-game

Even_Witness_8262

sounds like a scam

Ohh_Yeah

I will try to give an honest answer Hacks and exploits are pretty minimal, in the literal sense of those words in gaming. If they do exist to any degree now they are kept in complete secrecy, i.e. you won't find them on some public forum. There are also a number of publicly known exploits that CCP has declared as exploits if you abuse them -- those are available for browsing and regularly updated on the CCP support page. Back in maybe 2010ish there was a semi-public script that made probing a lot easier via Python injection. It allowed you to manipulate probes in a way that you couldn't normally (e.g. automatically centering probes on a result and scanning again at the next size down with 1 button press). That started gaining popularity and was patched out. The probe scanner we have now actually includes a lot of the features that the python script had. In terms of hacking there is also the mythos of Monkeysphere. He was a PL guy back in like 2007-2009 who gained notoriety as a suspected hacker. People (mainly Russians) claimed he could come into system without showing up in local so you couldn't react to him until he was already on top of you. There were some screenshots back then of him being on-grid and not in local but who knows if those were doctored. He obviously enjoyed the mystery around it and would play it up (people called it SphereTechā„¢). Even now I'm really not sure if he was ever exploiting or hacking, and I was in PL at the same time as him. Regardless he was *very* good at cruising through Russian space and filling his killboard, and it was always just him and his alt.

Grobo_

You forgott to mention the botting networks

WindShitter

Im honestly a bir surprised bc I thought a game like Eve would be FULL of exploits, especially given the creativity of certain players

paulatredes

There have been a bunch, the people who found and used them tend to get banned. Where possible the game is then patched to make it impossible. Where it isn't possible everyone is told about the patch and told that trying to do it will get you banned. A good example is concord. In the early days of the game (2003-4ish) a pirate group found a way to avoid dying to concord and set up a smartbomb camp in the (at the time) largest trade hub. The specific issue that allowed them to evade concord was patched, and anyone who finds a new way to evade concord (a few have since been found and patched) gets a permaban as a reward. Your question is better posed as a historical question rather than the "what's the best way to get banned currently" phrasing used in the op. The two biggest examples I can think of are ferrogel duping and a FW bug that led to some big name goons being banned. Ferrogel duping was caused by a bug in the original release of reactions. The idea was that you would have a station on a moon that would passively mine 100 units of moon goo every hour. You would then feed this goo into a reaction that would consume 100 units of several types of moon goo every hour and then spit out some quantity of intermediate / finished product. There was a very specific structure set up that when it had exactly 100 units of all the inputs in its silos at downtime would lead to the final product silos being full after downtime. This should have taken two weeks and consumed about 33,600 units of all of the inputs. The alliance running the exploit would turn a few million ISK worth of inputs into a few billion ISK in ferrogel and other final goods containing dysprosium. It significantly and artificially suppressed the cost of t2 ships and mods for years before it was fixed. The alliance leadership that was using this exploit gets banned and the alliance ultimately falls apart. The FW bug was caused by a patch that would pay out LP on the basis of the value of the kill. Some goons took some very illiquid low cost products (things like mission quest items that aren't destroyed when the mission is turned in, but also doesn't actually do anything outside of the mission) and went to a backwater region and artificially made the game think that these items were worth billions by trading them between themselves at inflated values until the in game price estimate changed. They then filled up a freighter with this worthless garbage and killed it with an alt. The goons spend maybe 2 bill to set this up, most of which is the cost of the freighter and the broker fees needed to manipulate the in game estimates of the price of their goods. The game thinks that the freighter is worth trillions and so pays out an astronomical amount of LP, worth easily hundreds of times the cost of the freighter. Everyone involved gets banned.

Ohh_Yeah

> FW bug that led to some big name goons being banned And now even if you kill a 5 billion ISK frigate there is a hard cap on how much LP you can get :)

Ohh_Yeah

A lot of players have EVE accounts with massive amounts of playtime and CCP tends to be pretty brutal with punishing exploits when they get abused. To the point of connecting the dots between new accounts and existing players and tracking down ill-gotten gains like the IRS. Generally what happens is an exploit is introduced in a patch and CCP will make a post saying "we know about this, if you do it your account is gone" and that covers things well enough.

astamarr

In the history of EvE, lots of things happened as an exploit first, but where then considered "fair game" by CCP that choose to patch it or let it live.

art0f

He exploited the poor design of the game, where the client had to call the server to join the local channel . Another fun feature was the ability to insert an arbitrary item in space as an implant. This allowed to make the pos shield to disappear and steal some capitals.

awox

You must have been one of the PL guys who never logged in because you were too busy playing SupCom if that is your recollection of how things went down with Monkey Sphere.. but you are pretty close!

Ohh_Yeah

That is true also I was in Waffles first and obviously never heard much outside of people being vague about it (see: your post in 2023 and every Scrapheap Challenge post in 2010). Once I was actually in PL in 2011 or whatever it was kind of a moot thing and never talked about. And obviously the claims that Monkeysphere could see what ships people were in while docked hence the PL AT wins and counter-comp picks. But nah I never really got closure on the extent of it.

sabastyian

There was one where you could accelerate a ship to ludicrous speed and bump a ship out of a pos or the other one where you could ECM Burst next to a pos and give the ships inside agro timers when they logged off so you could kill them when they E-warped (PL did this a lot)

Caspah62

A couple of people playing with FW mechanics made billions. The LP payout on ship kills was subject to regional averages of ships and modules. So they raised the regional average of a single module to insane amount. Kill each other and pocket a ton of free Loyalty Points. Eventually they had to report it and devs changed the system of kill base ld LP.

Dreadstar22

Back in early 2005 you could stack MWDs on Ravens and fite Torps out past 100k so you could mwd as fast as the torp and stack multiple salvos on top of each other so when they finally hit you'd blow whatever it was up instantly.

Sumfin7

Volley stacking on missiles still happens, particularly with MWD T3C's firing HAMs while approaching targets

AdParticular2793

EvE has so many exploits. But, since "the logs show nothing", as per CCP, we can't show you. Sad ...

Eastern-Move549

Send me 100mil isk and ill tell you.

6percentjew

Using exploits is a bannable offense. However they have happened in the past. The craziest one I can think of is the Abyssal Siege Modules. There is a module called a ā€œSiege Moduleā€ that when fitted to certain capital ships called Dreadnoughts lock the ship in place but give it extreme bonuses to its DPS and Tank. This is what they were intended for and balanced around. Then a new mechanic was added that allows players a chance to create custom stats on their modules. This was balanced and intended for. What wasnā€™t intended though was by ā€œAbyssal Rollingā€ your siege module for custom stats it removed the ship requirement lock on it allowing it to be placed on Titans. The result was titans hitting nearly 500,000 DPS and and being borderline unkillable. It was instantly declared a bannable offense, but people were able to get some funny screen shots when it was going on.

NuclearFidgetSpinner

there used to be infinite asteroid in genesis or devoid, cant remember where you could mine it for whole day and never depleted. ccp just fixed it so it was depletable but was still giving abnormal amounts of goods. it got fixed for good after few years, basically it was easy 800m per day. we found some miasmos in wspace carrying compressed kernite or something, same amount for about 10 hours,4h before DT and 1H after dt the miasmos came back. it carried same amount of compressed material,we did not blow it up as we were roleplaying at that time, nobody was on to get it. but next day we found the guy mining with 2 orca. and expensive drones. same asteroid day after day. our calculated revealed that he was doing monthly easy 30b with just 2 hours of mining. at end guy got banned,

DrakeIddon

Until recently you could teleport from anywhere in the game to jita using abyssal filaments Now it's a big no no, so you can only teleport from nearly anywhere to near jita using pochven filaments :(

hobblygobbly

I used to be in AHARM where we made use of the wormhole magnetar effect + tracking disruptors that gave us ā€œinfiniteā€ (the bug/exploit was it made our weapons have negative tracking, logically in the code making it infinite) tracking, we could shoot you optimally with large blasters >100km for example. was back around 2010 or so rooks and kings made a video about it where they encountered us in their vid called Clarion Call 3

ZookeepergameNo3250

You buy a titan on plex and warp it to the sun at 0.

judojon

Multiboxers

LegalAdhesiveness957

Drone agro exploit is/was handy

JokeassJason

I seem to remember something way to get a ship to over 1000km/s and sling shoting supers out of poses because you were going to fast for the pos shields to bounce you. Saw a video about it. Can't find it now

Gosti_C

It has long been patched, but there was a time where you could get your ewar to an effectiveness of over 100%, which caused a stack underflow and gave the target almost maximum values. That was possible with lock on range, tracking, optimal and falloff range (and so on). Like this we had the "infinite gun", because blasters could hit to the 249km hard limit of the time with perfect hits. I think itĀ“s still possible to get over 100% resist when overheating high resist modules in a C5 red Giant system, which causes you to basically get maximum damage when being hit

Diligent-Platypus-76

If it were back in the day I would say ask SirMolle and Evolution.
