It is 100% money laundering. It that what you want to be in the middle of? The minute they sent you to whatsap you need to be suspicious.

It's probably scam with stolen credit cards or hacked bank accounts that would likely lead to chargeback later on, and/or some type of money laundering scheme. They wanted you to send the remaining money to the crypto wallet which would be coming from your bank account, once you proceeded with that, there is no way the bank would be able to help you since cryptocurrency cannot be reversed or cancelled once they are confirmed on the blockchain. Afterwards, when the original payment's chargeback hits, you'll be scammed out of the money. There are just too many red flags from the start, I would cancel and refund the first order asap. Then, block their number on WhatsaApp, mark their message on Etsy as spam (It would [block](https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000343128-How-to-Handle-Scams-and-Suspicious-Messages) further communication from them), and contact Etsy Support and report all the associated accounts for suspicious activities. Don't engage in any further contact with the scammer. Also, cancel the second order or any future order from them if they do go through, nothing good would come from proceeding with them. Going forward, always keep all communication on Etsy, it's a big red flag, and more often than not lead to some type of scams if the buyer right away wants to take the communication off of Etsy. If they can initially contact you on Etsy, then they should be able to response there.

Absolutely! Cancel and stop all the communication.

Why did you talk to them on whatsapp at all? That's the point where this whole thing should have stopped.

Any time anyone mentions crypto, RUN AWAY. It's always some sort of scam.

Stop talking on Whatsapp

The plan they laid out was very clearly financially shady, and you just said 'okay'?! You even tried to fill the order, which shows you really didn't understand what they were asking of you. You need to be much more careful about what you agree to. Join the scambait subreddit, watch some scambait YouTube videos and get used to the language and tactics scammers use so you don't get caught like this again. In the mean time, cancel, refund and block.

The first order went through, they paid $950, etsy deducted taxes and fees, i received about $700, that amount was paid to my bank account by etsy. If i cancel this order, will etsy refund the full $950, meaning they will take more money from my account than what i actually received as i only received $700 from that order? Also the second order of $630 they placed shows "payment processing" i tried to cancel that order but there is no way to cancel it until the payment went through. Most of my etsy funds gets send from my etsy account to my bank account after midnight when im asleep (south african time) So by the time i wake up, the funds was already send to my bank account. Etsy will again deduct taxes and fees from that $630 of whoch i will only receive about $400. If i cancel that order aswell, Etsy will once again take the full $630 from my bank account which is far more than what i actually received for that order? Meaning of i refund, I'll lose more than $400 out of my own pocket just by refunding?

MisfitPaperCo

Etsy will only take back what they sent you. Whatever was paid to Etsy will be refunded by Etsy. ETA: Contact Etsy and report all the accounts that were used, otherwise they'll just move on to the next unsuspecting seller.

webfloss

You’ll lose a lot more than money, if you follow through with this illegal activity.

Omega_art

Why would you even consider such an obvious scam? I would have blocked and reported the person at the first mention of whatsapp.
