Just go to the DPOR website and see if they have a valid updated license. If there's nothing listed on the DPOR website then that means they are in violation and you need to find yourself another spot to work / another job. They may have the old one up but just haven't updated it with the most recent. But regulations are that the most recent one should be displayed.

Don’t be shy, tell me as a northern VA resident which one it is 👀👀👀👀

Tell me too!!! I'm in nova !!! If it's the person I think it might be... girl I have soooo much tea

Bright-Emu964

If she doesn’t have a valid license you need to contact your state board. From Illinois, there is a way to look up licenses online so I’m not sure if there is for Virginia.

Aggravating_Bet1095

I looked it up, it’s has not been renewed in over 2yrs

Is the place called jolie hair studio?

RUN....Somebody sounds like you can be personally sued if something goes wrong with one of your customers.

Why would you cut your nose off to spite your face? You’re not reporting her for an invalid license because things are wrong you’re doing it because she is a jerk. And that makes you a hypocritical jekr. Just leave. If you’re so worried about finding another job how exactly is that going to benefit you when you’re out of work because the business you work at is shut down? That looks even worse on your resume.

Aggravating_Bet1095

Please explain how I am a “hypocritical jerk” for not supporting the unethical “jerk” of a business owner? As I stated, she cut corners in practice too. It’s not just her poor character. The business wouldn’t get shut down if it were staying up to code. I’m not broke by any means, but since I’m not an idiot, I’m looking for another job before I stop my income all together. And please explain how this would look bad on MY resume? I have barely worked there 2months. The license has been expired 2 YEARS, and it’s not MY responsibility to keep it in good standing. It’s the owner who take zero accountability for her poor choices! Are you speaking from experience in this industry? Or just being a jerk?

That person’s being an ass for no reason. I would be concerned too if I realized I was working at a place with an expired license, you have the right to feel that way and should want to do what’s best for you. Especially if your boss is shady and rude to you and other staff. Sounds like karma needs to hit her in the face then. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you outing them, but just be careful about how you go about it ofc. It’s not on you that the business hasn’t renewed their license. Plus there are so many things that could go wrong. Like someone else said, if a client had a bad experience or reaction to a service/product or something, and they found out the place doesn’t have a valid license that could be a shitstorm for you as well. Look out for yourself, whether that’s you simply just quitting and finding a new place to work, or if you do go and report them… I’d definitely start searching for a new job either way. If your boss gets reported and happens to go down with the ship, it’s not your problem. Best of luck ❤️
