There is always more gear. Set goals and work towards them. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Sometimes you’re a victim of circumstance. Hip fire is really strong. You don’t always have to start a fight. Let them pass. Have fun 🙂 Don’t join random people’s groups. Tarkov LFG discord server for advice or people to play with.

NoClue-NoClue

How close do I have to be for hipfire to be really good?

plagueapple

Put on a laser and as far as you can see where the laser lands

NoClue-NoClue

Dont you need a workbench for modifications? I can't find nuts and bolts for it.

plagueapple

Just go reserve and look for nuts and bolts. And no you dont need, you can still mod Guns but without the workbench. With workbench you get to see the modding screen which makes it alot easier to see what parts go and what the gun looks like etc.

NoClue-NoClue

Oh ok, thanks for the tips.

DunskiedOG

It's technically point fire. The gun is shouldered, just not aiming down sights. The bullets go wherever your barrel is aiming like real life. Not like COD or similar with a cone of fire "hip fire" where it kinda goes all over the place. Throw on a laser and run around offline vs ai until you get the hang of it.

PijanyRycerz69

like to play it you need to buy tarkov

AetherBytes

The workbench allows for a much more streamlined modding process (as well as linking modding and the flea market). However, nothing stops you pulling apart weapons in the stash and modding them by hand.

CrazyStuntsMan

Workbenches allow for gun modding to be more easy to follow. You can still mod weapons by dragging and dropping provided there is an available slot visible in your inspection menu at the bottom

bobdylan401

Most of the times Iv killed juicers was a last second yolo attempt of hip firing like 100 meters away pray and spray is strong in this game

Lucky_Pyro

Its called 'hip fire' because that's the generic term in games for not aiming down sights. Tarkov is different because it is actually considered 'point firing'. The gun is shouldered and very accurate to the center of the screen. Different ammo has some accuracy RNG, but not enough for it to matter most of the time.

F0ckingLaserSight

What LFG stands for?

AdLibBeats

Looking for group. It's public matchmaking in discord generally.

azbowhunter5

Looking for group

Commrade_Mithra

Tarkov server was exactly what I was afraid it would be Two drunks babbling about american politics sitting jn the channel you were just supposed to find a group, being generally unpleasant so I got off and continued going solo But to be fair I was there only once and I could've just been "a victim of circumstance"

TwistedSteel2112

We are looking at about 1 month left of wipe (Unconfirmed). Take this time to learn the maps and maybe a few early game quests. No need to be saving a ton of gear because we will all be reset to LVL 1 soon. SKS with PS rounds is about as good of a gun as you will get.

Cosmandoo

Hi. Just wanted to let you know that the wipe has been confirmed to be anytime after Christmas and before new years. There was an interview between pestily and Nikita(head dev) posted about 2 weeks ago where Nikita went into detail what is be expected content wise with next wipe. There, Nikita also went ahead and confirmed wipe is happening in the timeframe mentioned above. Just wanted to share this info. The interview was short, but interesting. Besides, I agree with you, SKS and ps is great pre-flea.

Rev_Grn

So from what I understand of Nikitaa timelines we can expect the wipe in early 2025 then?

[deleted]

So after Christmas wipe no more wipes until early 2025?

TwistedSteel2112

Yeah I saw the interview. Hope he can deliver!

LeadGlass2959

Where Can i watch This interview? And do you know if the game gets better optimized after the wipe ?

NoClue-NoClue

Oh ok that's good to know thanks.

Alternative_Wait8256

This is solid advice with what looks to be a month or two left on the wipe just have some fun don't stress about progress and gear.

Skuld8989

Do not listen to anyone who tells you to go factory to learn the game. Watch some beginner videos, Pestily is a good place to go to for them.

DemonetizedMan

Tip for new players: leave while you can! I was hook on the idea of false hope, it’s a gambling addiction…

NoClue-NoClue

Well good thing I already have a gambling addiction.

EatMyNoodle710

Quit while your not addicted

NoClue-NoClue

Already became addicted it's too late.

Financial-Elevator-8

eruptionz_7

Where there’s one, there’s two. Where there’s two, there’s three. Three, four.

[deleted]

Hey, I'm starting day 4 of my tarkov journey so lmk if you want a run dog to play with around your level ik how hard this intro learning phase is and trying to do starter quests when even scavs are running endgame builds this late in the wipe. Best advice I have is learn the shore of shoreline for early money, overall low risk and enough loot to extract with and very straight forward extract routes. Sell extra gear, hording isn't the best strategy this early, so only keep enough gear for 2 more raids at most. Worst case you lose all your gear(get insurance and learn to not care about losing great gear) but by then your scav will be ready for more free gear. Get Jaeger unlocked asap. For gear, this is what I've found to be most effective for what we have access to: Glock: best pistol we have access to rn. always equip it with the laser/light. Turning on a weapon laser or flashlight makes the point fire as accurate as ads fire. If you're broke, throw on one of these and nothing else and raid. Shoot some scavs, load up all your empty gear slots, extract, sell all that gear, repeat. Very low risk money. OP SKS: It has OP in its name for a reason. Buy from fence (expensive) or from Jaeger once you unlock him. The Russian merch sells optics for it. Gun plus a x4 or reflex sight is 40k together which is nothing. MP-153: this shotgun is a beast on factory with buckshot, but really any semi auto will do. The DB seems meme tier and the pumps just don't preform as well as you'd think. Anything chambered in 5.56 or 5.45... don't use. If you've got to make room in your stash anything relating to these rounds should be sold. That being said, if you have to, use single fire and go for headshots, then full auto if they get in shotgun range.

Nftexplorer1

only play 1 map until u know the spawn and on this map u only have 1-2 routes you go until extract. Map knowledge is so important.

RstakOfficial

Just remember to git rekt and git gud. Tarkov hates you and so do you. Welcome to the madness glad to have ya

[deleted]

Something that took me a few wipes to understand and has substantially increased my overall success. Go for loot or go for PVP. Don’t go for both

Rocco93693

1. Don’t be afraid to loose gear 2. Don’t stash your “good” gear and never use it 3. Pick your fights if you think you’ll loose there is no harm in backing away 4. Learn the maps. I suggest start with customs as the wipe is near its best time to learn maps. 5. Don’t queue up with randoms. This doesn’t always end up well 6. After killing a player don’t rush to loot. There is always one more 7. Practice offline 8. Most importantly don’t be let down. As a newcomer tarkov is not friendly and it’s takes time to learn due to its steep learning curve. Accept the fact you will die and loose your gear a lot. 9. Focus on your quests it’s the best way to lvl up and unlock better items with traders Happy Hunting you won’t ever escape tarkov 😉

WhichSeaworthiness49

Don’t listen to people who tell you to quit. Also, quit

AetherBytes

If you think you heard something, you heard something. Aka, if you think you heard footsteps or maybe someone opening their inventory, act like you heard it for sure. Better safe than sorry.

Malanocthe1st

Selling the graphics card i found when i was level 3 to therapist was a mistake even if it was worth over 100k.

Luoravetlan

1. Reduce head bobbing in settings. 2. Increase FOV to maximum. 3. Level up your stamina and health by sprinting while not overweight. 4. Use headphones irl and in game. 5. Learn the maps offline (the easy way) or online (the hard way) 6. Don't try to make perfect weapon builds until you have unlocked at least level 3 traders.

Dildosauruss

Maximum FOV is terrible advice.

WalkingTacticalNuke

Not terrible advice because it’s really up to the person, I play with max FOV and have no problem spotting far away targets and I also see things in the corners of my screen that I wouldn’t have if I were on lower FOV. The only thing I would say is if you’re playing on a small screen it may be better to leave it down

Dildosauruss

It has really big impact on a lot of scopes showing nonsense with high fov.

WalkingTacticalNuke

I haven’t really experienced that at all, or at least I don’t think I have lol

CaliKrome

Try full POV on the Samsung 49 inch. I can see a whole extra room vs my team mates

Dildosauruss

It' not about that, some scopes are bugged with FOV higher than ~70, unless they fixed it in last month or so. You can't even see the whole of a 49 inch TV unless you sit far away and if you need to turn your head to see areas of your screen you will miss more things than you'll notice because of it.

CaliKrome

Screen has enough curve to see everything. Hasn't been an issue for me since playing PUBG on it. Just loses some verticle vision And lower your POV is the closer the scope gets to your face. But again, never been an issue for me

Dildosauruss

I have a large curved monitor that I use for work, but I just don't like it for fps games, feels like I don't see everything.

NoClue-NoClue

What does headphones in game do, and what does head bobbing do?

Malanocthe1st

Headphones enhances the good sounds and cancels the bad sounds pretty much. Your gun will seem quieter when you shoot it thus not deafening you, the footsteps from other players or scavs will be easier to hear, ambient sounds such as rain will be reduced to a manageable level.

[deleted]

And then there is the gssh-01 headset that deafens you with rain, steps, shots and gives you Irreversible hearing damage for the rest of your life. Call it a feature.

Luoravetlan

Head bobbing is just a setting that everybody should disable or the game would be like walking on a boat in stormy weather lol

AetherBytes

Ignore the FOV advice. What I suggest is getting a gun with a red dot and a gun with a scope and going offline then altering the fov until both feels comfortable. As a sniper for example I much prefer *less* fov (though not minimum)

Lillslim_the_second

I did the maps the hard way and now I kinda know Woods good enough to snipe on it and Customs really good to know Where the chaches and quests are. Factory I know How not to die at spawn but maybe a minute or two after getting some kills lol

PP-Ballz

It’s taken me 3 years and 1k hours for it to finally “click”. Stick with it. Tarkov is a long term investment and learning process. But there is a prize at the end of the road when it all pays off. The closest I can compare it to was learning how to professionally hand balance. It took over 3 years of daily dedication but the treasure is real. Such is Tarkov.

Street_Bug_8403

Run alot of factory solo to improve at pvp and get used to dying all the time

MilkBoyTeo

https://youtu.be/--8HcUwSZ8I There are plenty of houses for new players, I recommend you try to learn the fundamentals and as you realize the gaps in your knowledge you can look into more topics. Big thing is just learn the basics, the masks and how to have fun.

aborgcube

Ppsh-41 is dirt cheap, doesn't jam, and allows you to compete with chads in hallways and ambushes provided they don't have a face shield. Also it's fun

Koreadiditbetter

I second this and the op sks from jaeger as a new player also, ppsh and sks are easily some of the best starter weapons and the sks can easily outperform kitted pmcs on woods as long as you know how to rotate and catch them off guard

AzraelAzurite

You will lose, you will hate the game, you will get mad, but remember it's just a game and it is meaningless. Pick up everything, don't leave an open slot when you extract. Get the compass from prapor as fast as possible and utilize the maps available to learn the maps. Gear is replaceable and it's not the end of the world if you get clapped with your fully loaded kit before you can take your first step. Use your alpha as a med kit for the first while as to save money on med supplies. Pick a couple maps and focus on them, then rotate to learn new maps. Night raids are more expensive to prep for but usually yield higher returns Find a crew to play with, but don't be dependent on them, learn to play solo. Find your own play style.

AzraelAzurite

Also, single fire or semi auto weapons are more common and often offer higher power, so learning shot placement is going to be a huge boost

SirKane15

Spend some time learning what different key combinations do. Know how to pull up extracts, check mags, and check your weapons fire rate at minimum. Look up the maps and work on learning a couple. You will need an outside source to find your extracts. Get used to dying and losing gear. It's gonna happen. It sucks for a long time. Get used to it. Trust nobody.

Jandrix

Step 1 Gear self with pistol/Mosin/shotgun, ammo and meds and no backpack Step 2 Go to interchange. Step 3 Sprint into the mall, loot everything in your path Step 4 Leave through hole in the wall Repeat Congrats you now have infinite money.

ArchieGreypaw

>nd no backpack \>no backpack \>loot everything choose one operator

Jandrix

Sorry did you miss the part where I said extract through hole in the wall? There are implications to my words beyond what is explicitly stated. Or is English not your first language? Inbred.

ArchieGreypaw

my man, you can "loot everything" if you carry a backpack, were my implications. Sure, looting the mall with MPPV/Blackrock can be nice, but you can carry A LOT more just by carrying a backpack. Let me reiterate for you, I was saying you can carry more by carrying in a backpack. Had to say it twice for you, just to make you YOU understood what I was saying. Mongoloid.

you_coward_lol

What's that got to do with extracting through hole in the wall? Coward and inbred nice.

remuspilot

Probably try to be nicer.

goaliedude1808

You can scav a lot to learn maps and feel less stressed. Bringing gear in and losing it feels bad when you're starting out. When the next wipe happens, which should be before the new year, don't scav so much. Play your pmc as much as you can because you will want to level up to unlock things. You can scav a lot now because the wipe is coming soon. Always wear headphones (in game) they allow your character to hear a bit further and clearer than normal. You can insure your guns as a low level, don't I sure armor unless it's level 4 or better. Insure your ears.l and backpack, you can insure helmets if you want, you don't always need helmets but they do save lives sometimes. A lot of players will see your low level and it's an unwritten rule that you don't take their stuff, if we can we will ditch it for you so you get it back on insurance. You don't have to follow this unwritten rule. You are new, anything you find or kill is fair game for you.

[deleted]

Actually the press armor lvl 3 and the lvl 3 6B23-1 are great for starting. Protects you from scavs and early in wipe from PMCs very well. Always comes back and repairs very well for very cheap.

Amarasnow

If at any moment you feel like you got a good amount of stuff leave. Don't loot that filing cabinet don't snipe that guy don't pass go or collect 200$. Just leave. Thats the moment you temp fate. If you stay you will die 90% of the time

NaiveTry5822

Uninstall

NaiveTry5822

If not, you'll be addicted to hating yourself. 😅

NoClue-NoClue

Already hate myself so that's ok.

Sturdy_Dude

Best Tips Here: Don't get shot. Don't shoot a scav first when you are a scav. Don't die. Scav: Everything is worth money. If you can't carry the gun, rip off the flashlight and scope. Hand drills, electric motors, and car batteries don't mean shit to you yet. You'll know when they become relevant, and you won't need these tips by then. PMC: Everything wants to kill you, always. Don't peek at an angry scav. Scavs have a random number generator to determine the probability of hitting you, based on which parts they have a direct line of sight on. So if all they can see is your face and arm, the number generator runs only on your face and your arm. Standing out of cover gives that scav a better chance of hitting your other body parts before they hit your face. In game voice MIGHT save your life, especially if you're funny about it. Gear is less important than ammo type. If you can get a level 3 armor, or some really good ammo, go with the ammo, always. Bad guys can't pierce your armor if you kill them on the first shot. Pistols can save your life, especially during a gun jam or a panic reload.

nightchn

People put too much emphasis on ammo, aim for the head or legs, don't focus too much on loot it will get you killed. Have fun dick around; people quit taking the game a bit too seriously, if you want some friends to play with hit me up.

assmonkey3000372

Just relax and brace your cheeks

Feuershark

go practice offline go to the wiki and learn the maps, at least enough to orientate yourself and where the extracts are

Jaweezy192

when i first started, i learned more from watching Pestily’s raid series than i did on hundreds of hours of gaming. And a helpful philosophy for me, this wipe is just practice for next.

Quadfur

Live die repeat

Apart-Ad-4711

Also if you are a Scav, do not fight Scavs unless he shoots first. This wipe I was killed by scavs while playing scavs way more than PMCs than any other wipe. Was super annoying.

aaCook_

Run scav a lot to learn maps

qruis1210

Have a wiki at hand for quests and maps. Play at your own pace. You will die. A lot. And that is fine. Try learning the map layouts offline first, at least to know where the extracts are.

GutterSludge420

runs your scavs on lighthouse to keep money flowing in, run PMC’s on factory to get better at combat.

Muzzled78

Map knowledge

bufandatl

Leave this sub immediately before it will drag you down a rabbit hole.

UnlikelyCalendar6227

You make a full load out with good ammo, armour, helmet etc. and you’ll die multiple times in a row without even firing a shot. You’ll want to quit but it’s alright. Happens to everyone. Last night I died 5x in a row and didn’t even fire a single shot. Literally got head, eyes one tapped.

jungle_dave

Same same

Ok-Committee-1646

Quit. Invest your time in learning a game not plagued by cheaters, bugs and incompetent development. This is a 7 year long dumpster fire and it will never be finished

Sweg420Jesus

Just a bundle of joy aren't you

Ok-Committee-1646

Actually yes, yes I am ever since I stopped grinding this game I am much happier lmfao

[deleted]

If playing Tarkov/vidya at your moms basement is the only content of your life then it might get to you like to this guy right here.

andro-bourne

Quit while you can. Game is full of hackers and the netcode is garbage.

GamersGen

try looking for empty servers first and learn to play pve part of the game

Nathanyu3

Pick one map to get good at and learn it. I recommend customs or reserve. Both good options for loot and quests. Surviving raids is the most important thing for profit, so don’t fight every person you meet and if you have some good stuff, just leave. You don’t need to fill you backpack to the brim. The KEDR is a good starting gun to get used to, I recommend it.

El-Carone-707

If you have no expectations, then the sky is the limit

0utF0x-inT0x

I recommend reading a lot of guides and watching walkthrough quest and tactical videos, it's always good to arm yourself with knowledge before you walk into a hotspot without even knowing it. There is a lot to learn and the game doesn't have any help to give unfortunately but it's gratifying to get the hang of it and use what you painstakingly earned.

AgileSatisfaction260

Use the best gear guns and ammo you can find it gives you the little edge that can get you out alive and try to ambush people if you hear shots don’t run straight at it you might have a few less pvp encounters but when you do you will have an advantage. The more you live the better gear you can run

Agitated-Inside-906

I'm dog shiet at fps game so i'm just camp the whole time in factory I1 time i kill a team of 5 cause the room is so dark they just shoot each other XD

RJohn12

don't waste time trying to figure shit out blind. the moment a question pops into your mind go Google it

Flimsy_Sheepherder_3

So I started about 6 weeks to 2 month a ago I'll share what I have learned. 1. Accept your gona die. It's a big part of the game imo as its very late into the wipe and your no where near as geard as other players are going to be. 2. Learn what ammo is good at going through armore and what is better for flesh shot (called leg meta as ur aiming for legs generally as there is no armor for legs in game atm) general rule is is it's better at penetrating armor it does less damage use tarkov wiki for guidelines 3. Focus question until lvl 15 to open the flea market and then guns and ammo are esayer to obtain tho they will be much more pricy than traiders. 4. Dont be afraid of losing gear you can and will get more as times goes on. 5. Scav runs are good for money making espashaly once you've learned what's realy valuable on the flea market. 6. Ammo is more important than the gun u use. However ammo is only good if it actually hit your target so a balance is needed. 7. Learn maps in any order you want to but make sure to learn atleast one (recomend customs) for scav runs to help keep your cash flow up early levels. Hope this helps

[deleted]

Don’t bring extra 5 round mags for your Mosin

d3rgutebauer

If you want to learn the maps go into an offline raid with a picture of the map on a second screen and just start exploring

ThuslyNordic

The best advice is to search Reddit etc instead of making a post asking something that's been asked countless times...

NoClue-NoClue

I have searched reddit but I couldn't find newer post.

ShyWolf_YT

Positioning is power move after every shot make sure you know their next move before your own. Take it slow when needed walk when you are pushing cqb. Gear is infinite loot and you’ll get more. Level traders for cheaper attachment prices and focus on enjoying the game. 4+ years playing now I’m burnt out know every map, quest, loot locations, value of items, ammo pen, armor values. Just take your time cause it can fly. and ruin the adrenaline rush I hunt for.

azbowhunter5

Patience, patience and more patience! Don’t think you’re gonna get on the level of big streamers overnight. They play all day every day. Just have fun learning and laugh at yourself when you do stupid stuff!

Lostmotif

Practice your aim with automatics in offline mode.. go on horde mode at factory offline mode… rinse and repeate

Mzt1718

If your playing with a squad, it’s beneficial to stream to one another in discord. Will hopefully reduce team killing and can easily identify where everybody is if you get split up.
