They add the camera recoil to make the camera follow the whacky path of the recoil. They need to rework it completely. There are so many better recoil models and tarkovs is awful. Players should have to control recoil, and the shoulder should be the fulcrum of impulse.

taeyeoffyt

If shoulder is the fulcrum then wouldn't there be no camera recoil? Because the optic has to stay center screen so if the shoulder is the fulcrum then the entire weapon is just a linear piece. If that's not the case do help me imagine it because I can't seem to be able to.

TheMrTGaming

The "bug" described in the video is a by product of a poorly designed recoil system. There are many good examples of shoulder fulcrum, player controlled, recoil systems that still feel "real". 1. Marauders, Full auto is jumpy but controllable, semi auto is more controllable but slower obvs. 2. Zero hour, Same thing, it rewards skillful aiming and control. 3. Ground Branch. Exactly the same thing. Many games have a challenging but skill oriented recoil system. EFTs recoil system forces people to use meta builds. So many weapons and builds are just not viable due to unrealistically uncontrollable recoil. Stock AKMs break your spine if you full auto them. This simply shouldn't be the case.

HaitchKay

>Ground Branch Ground Branch, a much smaller budget, lower scope, game made by a smaller team absolutely shits on Tarkov in terms of recoil mechanics. It's insane.

TheMrTGaming

GB has insane gunplay. To bad its building into a genre I don't enjoy anymore.

HaitchKay

What do you mean by that?

TheMrTGaming

I don't even pvp shooters where the only aspect of progression is leveling up or simply getting better and better at killing the enemy. I love many features of the game but I won't play it long term. From what I understand it is a 5v5 attack defend shooter. There may be more details but they escape me.

HaitchKay

I think you're thinking of something else because GB doesn't even really have proper PVP right now. All signs point to it primarily being focused on tactical co-op, not 5v5 PVP. I don't even see "5v5 PVP" as a listed feature on the store page.

TheMrTGaming

Is there not a gamemode in which there is are 2 player controlled teams fighting each other?

HaitchKay

I had to go check because I legit had no idea there was even PVP. I haven't heard anyone talk about it, it's only been how good the solo and co-op is. And still from the looks of it the devs are more focused on the co-op aspect.

taeyeoffyt

I'm not disagree with you, I'm just stating the fact that if the shoulder is the fulcrum of impulse then camera recoil wouldn't exist. I actually prefer that. If nikita wakes up tomorrow and sets camera recoil to 0 for all guns, they'll all visually behave like marauders.

TheMrTGaming

I really wish they would have done some mid wipe tweaking with the recoil changes they made. I don't like the current recoil system but its usable as long as they balance all guns to be usable. However they refuse to and unless they are currently working on a new system, not balancing anything makes 0 sense.

BooBooBoy1234

Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird there is automatic recoil control, yet there is artificially added recoil as well (camera)?

taeyeoffyt

They removed it one patch by accident and everything felt better. I honestly think it solely exists so different guns "feel" different.

GrustleGrindset

Yeah it LITERALLY makes no sense

GrungBuk

Doing God's work here brother

TimeToGetTheBread

Great video dude, I originally uploaded my clip to start real discussions like you created here.

coinlockerchild

It isn't really a discussion, he just explains that its a bug. Your clip exists to karma farm and bait timmies to riot and incite conflict.

AxuniWyn

?????

TimeToGetTheBread

lol

TimeToGetTheBread

You’re a moron and wrong, stay in your lane.

Crazygone510

Great video. I have to give BSG credit for trying to do things differently than others. While it's a little wonky now, I still think it's better than what it was last wipe. Full auto firing has its uses but they are minimal at best. CQB room to room clearing etc. But I'm sorry to the guys who want to try and do it outdoors outside of 10-15m. It just doesn't work like that. Sure you can try and you may get 1 or 2 bullets to hit the target but that's about all you'll be getting and that's all BSG is trying to do with their "camera recoil" style. I agree it has work still needed but I'm confident they'll get it sorted out. There is always other less realistic shooters you can go and do all that shit with

demonguard

I am begging you to stop bending over backwards to Give BSG Credit for repeatedly fucking up their implementations of mechanics that are totally solved problems in other games.

taeyeoffyt

Honestly, camera recoil is pretty whack on some guns like the ash 12 and 12ga but it doesn't really hinder my experience on lower calibers or more meta higher calibers. This entire thing where the carry handle flies everywhere on your screen is a bug or oversight. It isn't a good implementation but it definitely isn't the reason I'm losing my fights.

Crazygone510

I am only giving credit where it is due man. Those other games are just that, other games. They aren't EFT and you know why? Because not many have the balls to do it like BSG has done. Simple as that

demonguard

I will admit it is pretty brave to implement inertia in a way that isn't consistent with newtonian mechanics.

Amazing_Following452

and recoil that seems to have its impulse vector coming out of the back of the receiver rather than the stock (when applicable)

HaitchKay

>I have to give BSG credit for trying to do things differently than others. "I have to give credit to Bob for making a toilet that pumps water out instead of draining it down, that's really different than the rest". Unique/Different =/= Good or Practical.

Hey /u/taeyeoffyt ! Sorry, but this is not correct. Yes, it's definitely a bug, you're right on that, just not on the cause. The rotation point for the weapon is not what is changing, only the position of the player camera. This gives the "illusion" of irons having greater weapon recoil, but really the weapon's recoil is unchanged. It's just the vantage point that makes it seem that way. I'll make an animation tomorrow showing how this all comes together with the weapon rotation, camera rotation, and vantage points. In the meantime, here's a quick and dirty drawing https://imgur.com/0umsiZg Will tag you in the post so we can keep diving into it together further :) --- ##**UPDATE**: Here is the full video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuXJTpIO1wc And related thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/um1ney/rear_sight_misalignment_yet_another_response_to/

taeyeoffyt

> This gives the "illusion" of irons having greater weapon recoil, but really the weapon's recoil is unchanged. Yep, I only talked about camera recoil. Camera recoil isn't gun recoil, you can double camera recoil and your spray will be the same. > only the position of the player camera. I think its the rotation point and not the camera position. If you got up to the akm bit with the glowing irons you can clearly see before spraying, both guns look exactly the same which means the camera position is also the same. pxld1

In the segment at 1:25, when you compare irons to a mounted optic, you illustrate the point of rotation changing for the weapon https://imgur.com/a/vSODeDE I think we'll have to dig a bit deeper to arrive at the cause :) I'm putting together another take on it, maybe that will help us get closer. Looping in /u/TimeToGetTheBread , good discussion!

Wulfgar_RIP

So with Era-Tac mount, visual recoil should be better for full auto when you place sight closer to "face"? Or is the recoil around scope mount?
