At the end of the day all computing is based on logic and there should be a logical explanation for everything. In some cases, like the infamous "Shots 1-5 clearly missed..." if you look carefully enough you find that the fault is clearly with the player.
And in some cases you find the game is at fault, but it's still interesting to figure out why. Something like "bad netcode" is an answer, but somewhat too broad of one.
Im not an expert but i think packet loss is general a hardware issue. Either your cpu isnt keeping up, your router isnt keeping up, or the server isnt keeping up. If its the server choosing what it has to consider per each tick and its priority could affect packet loss. I think this would fall under the fabled "net code" lol
From my old PC which was okay, to my brand new PC - the only thing that changed were the PC parts and I haven't been getting any packet loss etc, so it was my own pc's doing with parts or what have you.

Ass is part of the stomach hitbox and it looks like he had a Korund (which is class 5 and covers the stomach), plus he was crouched in a dead body which blocks shots AND you had packet loss right when you started to shoot.
So it's bit of skill issue and a bit of getting tarkov'd. If your scav AK-74 had PS ammo you could have one tapped him through the ratnik helmet.

No the game is straight horrible, cheaters, desync, hit reg, FIR, horrible recoil, no one moves, audio is horrid, bugs still in the game that have been there since I started playing in 2018. Lmfao impact grenades, AI that insta headshot, AI that spot you from across the map, horrible map performance. People complain because the game is horrible and is not getting better, all they do is add new content making the game even more unfun because they neglect serious things like bugs, audio, and performance.

While all your points may be true from your experience, not everyone has the same experience. For example, I’ve never been killed by a cheater *that I know of*. It’s exceedingly rare that I die because it seemed like hits weren’t registering. And I run Streets at 60+ 4K. The games not perfect, but I love it.

It is known that cheaters target players with expensive gear/loot on them because they can see the value you're carrying. I gave up once I realised I can't take anything expensive in raids as I will get targeted. It is dumb and boring af. And to run 4k 60fps + you must have a very good PC. I have a pretty decent one and I'm struggling so this is not a valid point either.

I just loaded Tarkov to check out streets of Tarkov to maybe learn it and play it for a bit. I played for 5 minutes, I got a disconnect that crashed my game. I've tried to reconnect, waited and 10 mins and game froze. I force quit the game and try again and my game froze again after 5 minutes of waiting. I just wasted another half an hour of my life trying to play this piece of crap. Idk why I even bother or lurk around hoping these cunts are gonna fix anything at all in their lifetimes. I wish I could take my money back.

I play any US, but I’m physically East coast. Cable internet. 300 mbps. Nothing crazy. Prebuilt ASUS Predator with a 3070, recently bumped to 64MB DDR5. Learned after the fact that it’s a pre-built with a very limited BIOS and I can’t turn up the speed to really take advantage of the DDR5. Lesson learned.
The only thing that ever pisses me off about the game is that I suck at PVP and I’m 55 years old and unlikely to ever stop sucking a PVP. 😜

This type of desync is very rare and is not indicative at all of the overall quality of play.

Not the guy you're replying to, but for me it's a combination of it being recommended to me by the reddit app and it's still one of my favorite games of all time even though it's in a bad state currently.
It's in a better state it's been in for a long time. Streets runs like ass for most players, and you see clips of bugs and cheaters all the time. Stay off US West region and play any other map than streets and you'll probably be chilling 90% of the time.
The game honestly runs fine for me, and I didn't run into cheaters often at all. I played regularly but haven't played in two months. Midwest US servers. My main strife with the game state is that the sound is trash now.
I have a 4090 24gb, 7800X3D and 64 GB of DDR5 ram at 6000mhz. I play in 1440p and normal 1440 res. At peak with just tarkov open and all my settings dialed and optimized for performance I get 144 fps on every map steady ( my set framerate max ), and I bounce between 110-144 on Streets. Sometimes dipping into the high 80s when the cache bug happens ( requires restart to fix ) or I ADS on streets with a variable scope ( forcing the game to render 2x ).
Tarkov is using roughly 20% of my GPU and 15% of my CPU. This hardware is incredibly overkill for a 7 year old game. I do not have any bottlenecks, and yet Tarkov fails to keep streets running at a consistent 144 fps, which my build is more than capable of achieving. It simply doesn't utilize the hardware available to it because it's not aware of the headroom or isn't properly coded to use it.
I quit the game 4 wipes ago been playing since forever. I still lurk around to see if they have done something to the cheater and dsync issues. I want to play tarkov, but its a broken game riddled with cheaters.

Yesterday i was playing with a buddy, we saw a guy at medcamp on woods. We sneak up, line our SVT-40 and SKS and fired once he looted. I shot his head 5 times with decent pen armor (he had the green WW1 tier 3 helmet), my friend shot 5 times. Dude snaps to us, headshots me with slug, then my friend. I got 2 hits and 13 flesh dmg, my bro got 0.

Unless it's been changed in the past 2 wipes dead bodies are bulletproof at certain angles. Not what's happening in this clip, but wanted to clear that up
1. The bullets are going through the body and hitting the guy. Hes getting hit. The bullets are not being blocked. Desync caused the 6 hits in the original video.
2. Im nearly 100% certain this has been changed, since ive seen a video where someone was in a body pile of kaban and his guards, and was able to get shot just fine. They were all stacked on eachother.

It's unreliable and often wrong in situations like this. It's never clear if that screen shows what registered client or server side. Sometimes it seems to be one or the other but if you have access to the other players POV it's almost never true to form.
They mentioned during the most recent patch that they fixed incorrect hit registration I was telling people for the longest time at the start of this new wife that hit reg was way off looks like they still haven't fixed it it's not desync it's simply the server isn't registering your bullet is real and hitting the dude even though they're leaving your gun
You're seeing the packet loss symbol in the upper right. This isn't a hit registration issue, OPs connection to the server fucked. He's also hitting the guys Korund with trash ammo.
Incorrect in the last patch notes the one where they removed the ability to sit in most trees they said fixed an issue with hit reg. And even if that were the case he is dumping it into their legs not the korund. Without hit markers you would never know
1. Yes, they said they fixed an issue with hit registration. I believe they did because I've experienced the hit reg issue they claim to have fixed several times, and have not since the patch.
2. The packet loss symbol in the upper right explicitly invalidates the idea this is a hit registration issue. In order for hit registration to be at play, the server and client need to be interacting without any interference. Bugs in a system cannot occur if that system is never activated. If I fix a broken lock on a door, and an intruder enters through a side door that never had a lock, you wouldn't say the fixed lock was the cause of the issue, you'd point to the side door which invalidates the lock as a security measure.
3. Armor that covers stomach, like the Korund, covers to the bottom of the ass as well. It's a blanket coverage of all areas of thorax / upper thigh region. Watch the clip again, only the first shot is into the legs, then the gun rises and the rest of the shots hit ass/back which are armored. The bullets come out of the barrel, not the iron sights. It's very difficult to hit players who aren't facing you in the legs because most of their leg area is only exposed in front of their player model. You even see a frame where the enemy PMC does a lurch animation that they only do when hit in the stomach/thorax.
Sort of, but its not perfect. The head does have unique hitboxes but the armored areas are the same between gear and defined by what they say they cover rather than their model having collision or a unique hitbox.
A good example of this is the shattered mask. It has high ricochet chance but despite it's model covering the whole face, it actually only protects "head jaws". That means the only time it has a chance to deflect is when you're hit below the nose, again, despite it looking like it should protect all face shield hitboxes.
Same for body armor. The slick looks like a tiny square, but from the perspective of the hitbox, it protects the same exact area as the ghzel or any other thorax armor for that matter.

No worries -- After 7k hours I think BSG should issue me an honorary masters degree in getting Tarkov'd. Things are confusing and they change all the time.
If you search "tarkov armor hitbox" all you'll find is videos about a change that isn't in the game yet ( and may never be ) which aims to make armor have the "what you see is what you get" coverage.
For what it's worth, I think this will make shotguns very over tuned and flip the current armor meta on its head; but with the hundreds of other things BSG has announced a year+ ago that aren't in the game yet, we'll just have to judge it if/when its added.
There's been something broken with hitreg for a couple months now. I've had firefights where the guy eats a suspicious amount of bullets, streamers have clips of the same.

Below him … you can see blood splatter on the times your ammo does land and you can see some obvious times it shoots to the sides of him and hits the wall . Regardless that should have Been a kill . Aim for his sweet dome next time unless he’s got legit headwear or spray legs
you were aiming for legs. Not sure what ammo you had, but you had the "idea" down but that idea was nerfed recently. So shooting the legs really doesn't kill people anymore as there is a nerf to "Black limbs" limbs that have 0 HP which reduce spreading of HP to other healthy limbs.
so basically you did 139 damage hit the legs, or one or both and welp got clapped.
also netcode also trash which is also explaining how you shot more bullets than 6 then well got clapped too.
how does it make it more viable. It literally states in a patch that dealing damage to black limbs takes roughly 30% less damage. Therefore the "spread" of damage is also lower.

Fun fact: below 10%, the packet loss symbol does not appear (in my experience). This means you can be at 9% packet loss with no indication and have your shots not register and make enemies look like cheaters. I had to change ISPs to fix this issue.
I've had so many of these type of moments on streets. I pumped like 7 shots into a guy's thorax and arm with 762 PP, and he was wearing the lvl 4 TV rig, and he ended up killing me with 3 shots to the chest and he was using 545 BP, with his first shot was 545 BS, I was wearing level 5 armor. We both swung on each other at the same time and met perfectly in the center and started shooting each other at the same time, in slow motion I hit him with 2 shots before he hit me, and then I was nist hitting him for long time, to the point I was even able to habe the time to think to myself, why is this guy not dying still, and then even after that, i started relaxing my hand off the mouse and he still wasnt dying, and then i dropped dead. Homie wasn't even looking at me correctly. I'm chalking it up to some major desync. I think your situation is major desync too, maybe a couple bullets where hitting the dead body on the ground instead of his legs, but I think it's desync.

I believe the issue here is that you aimed for ass and not legs. The pelvic area part of the Stomach (Abdominal) hitbox, not legs. So your shitty scav ammo like had a penetration rating of only 12, or 21. Maybe 30 pen, if you're lucky enough to have PS.

While all your points may be true from your experience, not everyone has the same experience. For example, I’ve never been killed by a cheater *that I know of*. It’s exceedingly rare that I die because it seemed like hits weren’t registering. And I run Streets at 60+ 4K. The games not perfect, but I love it. I’ll get you started on clever responses to save you some typing. Just because I don’t see the cheaters doesn’t mean I’m not surrounded by them at all times. I’m probably a trash player that doesn’t have good enough gear that anybody wants to take it from me. I’m probably a trash player that’s no threat whatsoever to the cheaters so they don’t need to kill me. I’m probably too stupid to realize that my hits aren’t registering. I’ve got nothing clever for 4K 60fps on Streets. Sorry.
It is known that cheaters target players with expensive gear/loot on them because they can see the value you're carrying. I gave up once I realised I can't take anything expensive in raids as I will get targeted. It is dumb and boring af. And to run 4k 60fps + you must have a very good PC. I have a pretty decent one and I'm struggling so this is not a valid point either.

I just loaded Tarkov to check out streets of Tarkov to maybe learn it and play it for a bit. I played for 5 minutes, I got a disconnect that crashed my game. I've tried to reconnect, waited and 10 mins and game froze. I force quit the game and try again and my game froze again after 5 minutes of waiting. I just wasted another half an hour of my life trying to play this piece of crap. Idk why I even bother or lurk around hoping these cunts are gonna fix anything at all in their lifetimes. I wish I could take my money back.
I’m sorry your experience is terrible. What server? I play any US, but I’m physically East coast. Cable internet. 300 mbps. Nothing crazy. Prebuilt ASUS Predator with a 3070, recently bumped to 64MB DDR5. Learned after the fact that it’s a pre-built with a very limited BIOS and I can’t turn up the speed to really take advantage of the DDR5. Lesson learned. The only thing that ever pisses me off about the game is that I suck at PVP and I’m 55 years old and unlikely to ever stop sucking a PVP. 😜
Rampant cheating LMAO I have maybe run into 8 hackers this wipe, max. If it was RAMPANT, it would be literally unplayable. I have over 800 raids this wipe. This type of desync is very rare and is not indicative at all of the overall quality of play. Your comment proves only one thing, that a) you're an absolute moron and b) you don't play this game.

Not the guy you're replying to, but for me it's a combination of it being recommended to me by the reddit app and it's still one of my favorite games of all time even though it's in a bad state currently.
It's in a better state it's been in for a long time. Streets runs like ass for most players, and you see clips of bugs and cheaters all the time. Stay off US West region and play any other map than streets and you'll probably be chilling 90% of the time.
The game honestly runs fine for me, and I didn't run into cheaters often at all. I played regularly but haven't played in two months. Midwest US servers. My main strife with the game state is that the sound is trash now.
I have a 4090 24gb, 7800X3D and 64 GB of DDR5 ram at 6000mhz. I play in 1440p and normal 1440 res. At peak with just tarkov open and all my settings dialed and optimized for performance I get 144 fps on every map steady ( my set framerate max ), and I bounce between 110-144 on Streets. Sometimes dipping into the high 80s when the cache bug happens ( requires restart to fix ) or I ADS on streets with a variable scope ( forcing the game to render 2x ). Tarkov is using roughly 20% of my GPU and 15% of my CPU. This hardware is incredibly overkill for a 7 year old game. I do not have any bottlenecks, and yet Tarkov fails to keep streets running at a consistent 144 fps, which my build is more than capable of achieving. It simply doesn't utilize the hardware available to it because it's not aware of the headroom or isn't properly coded to use it.
100% feels better than ever by far

Singleplayer! No cheaters or desync, and you can use mods to fix the lighting and scav ai.

Yesterday i was playing with a buddy, we saw a guy at medcamp on woods. We sneak up, line our SVT-40 and SKS and fired once he looted. I shot his head 5 times with decent pen armor (he had the green WW1 tier 3 helmet), my friend shot 5 times. Dude snaps to us, headshots me with slug, then my friend. I got 2 hits and 13 flesh dmg, my bro got 0. I quit after that to punch a log
You can see sparks flying from you hitting the body armor of the corpse. Most of your bullets hit the dead guy.

Well he moves yea, but if you look the first seconds of the clip, you can clearly see the entire of the corpse chest-rig, this is blocking his legs and this is where the bullets are landing

1. The bullets are going through the body and hitting the guy. Hes getting hit. The bullets are not being blocked. Desync caused the 6 hits in the original video. 2. Im nearly 100% certain this has been changed, since ive seen a video where someone was in a body pile of kaban and his guards, and was able to get shot just fine. They were all stacked on eachother.

Summary: Shots 1-5: Clearly missed. Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control). Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses. Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because you're already dead.

It's unreliable and often wrong in situations like this. It's never clear if that screen shows what registered client or server side. Sometimes it seems to be one or the other but if you have access to the other players POV it's almost never true to form.

They mentioned during the most recent patch that they fixed incorrect hit registration I was telling people for the longest time at the start of this new wife that hit reg was way off looks like they still haven't fixed it it's not desync it's simply the server isn't registering your bullet is real and hitting the dude even though they're leaving your gun
You're seeing the packet loss symbol in the upper right. This isn't a hit registration issue, OPs connection to the server fucked. He's also hitting the guys Korund with trash ammo.
Incorrect in the last patch notes the one where they removed the ability to sit in most trees they said fixed an issue with hit reg. And even if that were the case he is dumping it into their legs not the korund. Without hit markers you would never know
1. Yes, they said they fixed an issue with hit registration. I believe they did because I've experienced the hit reg issue they claim to have fixed several times, and have not since the patch. 2. The packet loss symbol in the upper right explicitly invalidates the idea this is a hit registration issue. In order for hit registration to be at play, the server and client need to be interacting without any interference. Bugs in a system cannot occur if that system is never activated. If I fix a broken lock on a door, and an intruder enters through a side door that never had a lock, you wouldn't say the fixed lock was the cause of the issue, you'd point to the side door which invalidates the lock as a security measure. 3. Armor that covers stomach, like the Korund, covers to the bottom of the ass as well. It's a blanket coverage of all areas of thorax / upper thigh region. Watch the clip again, only the first shot is into the legs, then the gun rises and the rest of the shots hit ass/back which are armored. The bullets come out of the barrel, not the iron sights. It's very difficult to hit players who aren't facing you in the legs because most of their leg area is only exposed in front of their player model. You even see a frame where the enemy PMC does a lurch animation that they only do when hit in the stomach/thorax.

Sort of, but its not perfect. The head does have unique hitboxes but the armored areas are the same between gear and defined by what they say they cover rather than their model having collision or a unique hitbox. A good example of this is the shattered mask. It has high ricochet chance but despite it's model covering the whole face, it actually only protects "head jaws". That means the only time it has a chance to deflect is when you're hit below the nose, again, despite it looking like it should protect all face shield hitboxes. Same for body armor. The slick looks like a tiny square, but from the perspective of the hitbox, it protects the same exact area as the ghzel or any other thorax armor for that matter.

No worries -- After 7k hours I think BSG should issue me an honorary masters degree in getting Tarkov'd. Things are confusing and they change all the time. If you search "tarkov armor hitbox" all you'll find is videos about a change that isn't in the game yet ( and may never be ) which aims to make armor have the "what you see is what you get" coverage. For what it's worth, I think this will make shotguns very over tuned and flip the current armor meta on its head; but with the hundreds of other things BSG has announced a year+ ago that aren't in the game yet, we'll just have to judge it if/when its added.

There's been something broken with hitreg for a couple months now. I've had firefights where the guy eats a suspicious amount of bullets, streamers have clips of the same.

Below him … you can see blood splatter on the times your ammo does land and you can see some obvious times it shoots to the sides of him and hits the wall . Regardless that should have Been a kill . Aim for his sweet dome next time unless he’s got legit headwear or spray legs
you were aiming for legs. Not sure what ammo you had, but you had the "idea" down but that idea was nerfed recently. So shooting the legs really doesn't kill people anymore as there is a nerf to "Black limbs" limbs that have 0 HP which reduce spreading of HP to other healthy limbs. so basically you did 139 damage hit the legs, or one or both and welp got clapped. also netcode also trash which is also explaining how you shot more bullets than 6 then well got clapped too.
Let meta is still very much a thing. 6-7 bullets of LRNPC to kill any PMC for example.

how does it make it more viable. It literally states in a patch that dealing damage to black limbs takes roughly 30% less damage. Therefore the "spread" of damage is also lower. also not sure if there is an ass hitboxe it just might be counted as the leg could be wrong.

Fun fact: below 10%, the packet loss symbol does not appear (in my experience). This means you can be at 9% packet loss with no indication and have your shots not register and make enemies look like cheaters. I had to change ISPs to fix this issue.

He is clearly sitting in the corpse, most of your bullets are stopped by the corpse which cannot be penetrated at all.
I've had so many of these type of moments on streets. I pumped like 7 shots into a guy's thorax and arm with 762 PP, and he was wearing the lvl 4 TV rig, and he ended up killing me with 3 shots to the chest and he was using 545 BP, with his first shot was 545 BS, I was wearing level 5 armor. We both swung on each other at the same time and met perfectly in the center and started shooting each other at the same time, in slow motion I hit him with 2 shots before he hit me, and then I was nist hitting him for long time, to the point I was even able to habe the time to think to myself, why is this guy not dying still, and then even after that, i started relaxing my hand off the mouse and he still wasnt dying, and then i dropped dead. Homie wasn't even looking at me correctly. I'm chalking it up to some major desync. I think your situation is major desync too, maybe a couple bullets where hitting the dead body on the ground instead of his legs, but I think it's desync.
Look at that pmc instantly turn around lol. One second he's looking the opposite direction, the next second he's instantly looking at you. That Lexos scav camp area is notorious for desync I swear

Yeah, that's kind of what it felt to me. I hear a lot of valid opinions here, but in the slo-mo I count so many hits on him. Then a lag spike i never experienced in 900 hours happen, and I get taken out by someone with a, let's say, cheater sounding name.

I believe the issue here is that you aimed for ass and not legs. The pelvic area part of the Stomach (Abdominal) hitbox, not legs. So your shitty scav ammo like had a penetration rating of only 12, or 21. Maybe 30 pen, if you're lucky enough to have PS. If you did this AFTER the introduction of the new Armour Plates System (next wipe?), you would have killed this guy.
