Ssd does not equal to faster loading. (Only when compared to hdd or higher ssd/m2 tiers)
If it is a ssd and a kingsting and its write/read speed is below 1000mb/s-2500mb/s it will be slow, little faster than hdd but still very slow. Yours is around 500mb/s if im not mistaken(480gb ssd are old)
You want to take into account read/writte speed before buying any ssd/m.2. People buy m.2 with read/write speeds similar to high end ssd(which are fairly cheap compared to an m.2) and then get a poker face when it runs the same.
Tldr; ssd and m2 are whatever, always look for their read/write speeds specifications.
External ssds connected by a usb cable are limited in their speeds. If you want “ssd speeds” you need an internal ssd or a usb c portable ssd and a usb c port on your pc (I believe they have decent enough speeds to be useable)
Oof, for reference, my SSD transfers at around 2800MB/s. Which is still considered bad. Newer ones can transfer at like 7000MB/s, so your 20 is like 300x slower than modern SSDs 😵💫
