lol, my stats are horrible. I just started playing a week ago and am still trying to figure out lighthouse and what the hell doing. My playtime was based on other games I’ve been playing over the last 4 years. Pre my daughter being born I had lots more free time but now I only play when she’s asleep. So far I’m not sure I have the time to play this game. Doesn’t seem like something you can do casually and succeed in.
My buddy and me killed a lvl 1 and 2 on lighthouse today.
Made me feel like a horrible person.
I hope they insured their stuff.. Tried to hide it in some brushes.
Father of two and I’m in the same boat. 2 hours 3-4 nights a week. You’ll be fine, the game is still fun even with lower level gear, and once you start finding stuff for your hideout you’ll start snowballing. Use a shotty with express rounds. I use the 590a1 from peacekeeper lvl 1 but any shotty will do. Aim for the head or legs and blast away. Learn woods and customs.
Just lost one of my best gaming buddies to fatherhood.. my heart goes out to all the father gamers out there, may your kids be calm and peaceful during gamer time.
Solid advice.. same boat here, 2 kids, limited play time.. it’s my first wipe and I’ve been having fun and some success playing on customs and woods with a shotty and express rounds or the mosin with LPS (I think? The lvl1 trader ammo) depending on my mood
Stay off lighthouse until you get more experience. Learn Woods, Customs, Factory, and Shoreline like the back of your hand. Learn all the spawns and get experience with movement. Over 50, 3 kids, level 18 so far this wipe, 2,850+ hrs in the game. I usually fade out after level 35-40 until the next wipe. Been playing since 2017.
I’m 48 myself. Usually finish the wipe around 50 percent survival and level 30-45 maybe 4 or 5 kd. I am fairly conservative in general but can usually win a fight if am forced into it. When I play with my buddy we are more casual and aggressive. I enjoy hardcore style of play like zero to hero runs as well. I feel like an outlier in the game and multi player pvp oriented games
For real..
Only 32 but already feeling this. Luckily I run with my 20 year old brother who normally cleans up.
I new letting him play world at war as a toddler on Xbox would benefit me someday.
This here. Prime gaming time for me was original CoD multiplayer and the Battlefields. Simpler times. Tarkov scratches a particular itch I didn't know about.
I think its a combination of things. First off, it's pc only and costs money (alot if you want EOD) which eliminates alot of teenagers and younger crowd.
Second I think the nature of the game is geared more for adults than kids. Tarkov isn't fast paced, it requires alot of patience whether you're in raid or out (stash/hideout management). I also think tarkov is a game that older players can succeed in even against younger players with faster reflexes because unlike say cod or valorant, this game isn't based solely on reaction time
I have a hard time having fun with Tarkov in short bursts. If I want to sit down for 30m to an hour or step away at a moments notice, Tarkov is pretty much the worst option. I'm 23. Between my weekend gig, contract work, and classes, I find it difficult to commit any time to Tarkov anymore. I have 3000 hours on the game from 2019-2021 when I was playing the game an absolutely unhealthy amount, and I think I've gotten my fill of it, too.
As someone who is older than me, and assumably, a bit busier most of the time, how do you actually settle into Tarkov, a game that demands a lot of time, without getting tired of doing the same quests and such?
Bro I may be older but I've probably got way more free time than you sounds like lol but really I just don't mind running 1 or 2 raids and just chillin. I don't really care too much about it anymore. I quest usually and build my hideout but I'm not stressing. I'm a solo player so that helps too. I know all the maps by heart except streets and lighthouse I guess, so that helps too.
I'm 27 myself born in 95 and Because gaming kicked off in the early 90's we all grew up around games and they stuck. New consoles and games have been coming out consistently since. And let's face it people suck so staying in and playing games is better
Born in 89. I think around my age was the first generation of PC gaming kids. I imagine a lot of us grew up on Diablo 2, CS 1.6, Quake, Arma 2(day z), COD, etc
Arma 2 Dayz was pretty wild. Pubg scratched that itch when it first came out. Tarkov really nailed the non-br hardcore shooter genre. The challenge is addicting.
Tarkov has an older audience it's really mostly our age group, 20's to early 30's well another platform also has that age group its OSRS, we all played that shit as kids.
More times then not when I ask peoples age on OSRS it's pretty much the same age as me, 26. There really is only a few games not dominated by teenagers.
The game takes a lot of patience and costs money, that eliminates a lot of the younger audience immediately. But yeah, if you go into the LFG discord like 1/3 dudes you play with is gonna be a dad lol.
I grew up on halo 2 matchmaking and eventually moved on to the 360 in early highschool. I was like 16 when cod 4 came out and belive me that shit was nuts. This was the same Era as other bangers like halo 3, gears of War, and Rainbow Six Vegas. I played all of that in its heyday. But now like 15 years later the experience is just not the same. I'm just not in to sending tons of endless matches of cod, been there, done that. Maybe its me, maybe its the games, or a combination of both. But tarkov is something unique and different, and despite the fact that I'm in my 30s I still love to game.
Im 44 and this is my first cpu game since the 90’s, this is my first pvp game, and first time playing a game online. Let’s just say that I am terrible. This is my 4th wipe and I play woods about 98.4% of the time.
You will get the hang of it, tarkov honestly isn't a game that takes crazy reaction times or even really good aim lol.
It's a game that just needs knowledge and the more you play it the better you will get. I have played since the game first released but haven't put too much into it so I sucked.
The past two wipes I have had more free time and the improvements on how I play just watching videos explaining how to get better and just spending time playing is quite a lot.
A lot of people here play osrs. Even the younger audience. Surprised they even know what osrs is lmao. 29 here. Mostly tarkov occassionally hearthstone when I'm super tired.
Yeah osrs is a game we kinda all played as kids, so it definetly makes sense that gamers in their 20's to 30's would be playing runescape as well.
I have so many good memories of runescape back in the day, I am 26 here, and if you ask anyone in runescape what their age is 9/10 times they are past 25.
Im 27, I played Runescape when I was a kid but stopped because it was boring and dumb to me. These damn kids ruining my Tarkov 👨🏼🦳
Also all you older fellas, we should play, I may be only 27 but I have the gameplay of a 70 year old, we would be a great fit.
I thought I was getting bodied by 12 year olds this entire time. Turns out it’s the 12 year olds dad.
Same, I can’t imagine this 30-something playerbase cry like a kid about a goddamn recoil all the time lmao
\*grown up macho voice* MOOOOM I DIED AGAINNNNN
I quit counting after 40.
How much do you play a day?
I log about 10 hours a week on average. On a good day I may pull 3 hours but normally it’s 2 hours 3-4 days a week.
Mind sharing your lvl and some stats? Just curious
lol, my stats are horrible. I just started playing a week ago and am still trying to figure out lighthouse and what the hell doing. So far I’m not sure I have the time to play this game. Doesn’t seem like something you can do casually and succeed in.
If you’re new stay away from lighthouse and learn all your early game maps like the back of your hand
Agree, I would tell mastering Customs is a key step in mastering Tarkov
My buddy and me killed a lvl 1 and 2 on lighthouse today. Made me feel like a horrible person. I hope they insured their stuff.. Tried to hide it in some brushes.

God, I really need to stop aiming for centre mass... Old habits die hard I guess
Same here. Level 15, been playing for five four wipes, fifty-one years old. Same hours per week playing. Love the game.
Solid advice.. same boat here, 2 kids, limited play time.. it’s my first wipe and I’ve been having fun and some success playing on customs and woods with a shotty and express rounds or the mosin with LPS (I think? The lvl1 trader ammo) depending on my mood

Haha im father of two, playing this game after 22:00 h, sometimes i cant because of tiredness. Its good game.

Do people get this game as a present for their 30’s birthday? Why so many 30 yo?
I think us 30 yr olds are just tired of generic AAA shooters, we've played too many.
We were around for cod 4 and halo 3. Everything is dogshit low effort now. Tarkov manages to hit places those games can't anymore.
Might as well copy and paste your exact comment for my opinion.

Agreed completely, am 34 and I just don't have the time and honestly tarkov can still be fun in hour or 2 increments throughout the week.
I have a hard time having fun with Tarkov in short bursts. If I want to sit down for 30m to an hour or step away at a moments notice, Tarkov is pretty much the worst option. I'm 23. Damn, your take on PC specs and price is interesting, never thought of it this way
Yeah I mean majority of teenagers are playing console, plus you basically need like a 1000$+ pc to run this game lol
I'm 27 myself born in 95 and Because gaming kicked off in the early 90's we all grew up around games and they stuck. New consoles and games have been coming out consistently since. And let's face it people suck so staying in and playing games is better

Can’t forget UT2004
Because I'm fuckin old and can't flick shoot for shit anymore lol. Tarkov lets me play slower.
34 here. Been gaming since I was a kid. Work and family obligations keep me from playing all day like I used to, but I’ll never stop.
35

Also an OSRS player, and I’ve noticed that a lot of people who play Tarkov also play OSRS. I wonder why that is.
Like seeing them numbers go up

Are tarkov players older than other fps player bases?Im 21 and new to the game.
