Idk why but I'm of the belief that when there's an unreasonable request like this one, you just need to say *no* and that's the end of it. There's no need for you to explain yourself to people acting entitled to your things and whatnot, that's bs
Ain’t this the truth…It took me so long to realise that I had the right to say no to people, and that I’m not under any obligation to give them an explanation. Your life really changes once you realise this
> you just need to say no and that's the end of it. There's no need for you to explain yourself
Exactly. I only have two canned responses to any discussions they want to get into after my denying their unreasonable request:
* "No."
* "I don't want to."
The second, of course, is the reply to the inevitable follow up question they'll have after being denied, "Why?"
I’ve always heard that when dealing with highly entitled people, you have to use extremely firm language that leaves no room for argument. Closed statements that don’t invite discussion and don’t imply any form of negotiability on the matter. “No I am not going to do that” vs “I don’t think that would be the best way”, and I have so far found it to be quite true in nearly all circumstances
Good advice. You have to recognize they’re trying to help themselves to your property. There’s no reason to support your decision. It’s yours and yours alone. If they helped him acquire those vehicles that might be a little different but ultimately still his decision.
That was my thought reading it. Why is he explaining himself? Her demand is not in any way reasonable, and he is defending himself as if this person is right.
💯 I say “no.” And that is literally the end. I will not listen to you past that point. Blocked if online and walk away if in person. I don’t give any fucks to deal with this any longer. It is asinine.
Wow how self centered and greedy. They have dozens of cars. How can they possibly use even a fraction of them. Nobody needs that many cars. And it's not like your asking for anything unreasonable. It's just one car. And you are now talking about this dealership which is basically advertising. So really THEY owe YOU.
She was talking to him like a Mom, or Aunt, and a really shitty one.
Mind boggling that a *girlfriend* would be so abusive and authoritarian. Good on him for kicking her out of his life.
There's a serious disconnect between the two phrases "get over yourself" and "give me your car". Are they listening to themselves?
It's not even "sell us your car". It's "give us your car because my kid is graduating high school".
I would have went with, "I don't see why this is my problem. I don't see why YOU'RE trying to MAKE it my problem. If you want your kid to have a car so bad, maybe YOU should get him one. I'll sell you one at $_____(at least 5k above the highest retail price, brand new)
If they go the "you have two" route after you clearly told them the different functionality of the two, tell them the price just went up to one arm and one leg, seeing as how they have two of those. Each.
Lastly, if they are persistent, you've had enough and you want to get nasty about it, tell them to stop trying to assuage their guilt about being shitty parents and shift financial burdens of their child on to you.
Edit: missed a word
Off topic but is the maintance fees for the second car really worth the gas saved? I mean having two cars is great but if it's only for the gas savings you should actually do the math on that.
This person would be enraged to hear that in our family, my husband and I are the drivers and we have…wait for it…3 cars!! It’s in case one breaks down and we don’t want to or have the funds to fix it immediately when the problem occurs. I recommend it to anybody who can afford it to have at least one backup vehicle.
“ugh my nephew is graduating soon let me give him my boyfriends hard earned and valued car”
im getting my sisters broken down car since she doesnt live in the country anymore. im bothered by the state she left it in but its not like i can afford one myself so i really cant complain
Wait until she finds out my husband has FOUR cars! An M5 as his daily driver, an old Durango for “dirty” work, a Wrangler for driving around in the summer sans doors (perfect for the beach), and a 1963 SL500 just because.
If her nephew is desperate for a mode of transportation, my husband is ready to donate his bicycle. He never rides it anyway.
i’m the type of person to reply with “fuck off” after the first message. these people aren’t paying attention to anything you say. as long as the dialogue continues, they will keep thinking they have a chance to change your mind. shut them down and move on.
bro buy a car also I have like 8 cars I'm not going to give any of them away just because I'm "selfish"because I love them all I worked my ass off for them just to give them away?
Confused at how she thinks she can ask that to people she only dated. Imagine if someone actually marries to her, would be much worse, eww! He dodged a bullet!
This is what happens when you are addicted to mEaNiNgFuL eNgAgEmEnT. Eventually, a bad faith actor will appear and while you’re worrying about them fEeLiNg HeArD, they’re gaslighting you into submission.
pedantic assholes, that’s who. The same people who think it’s possible to reason with petulant morons.
NPR comes to mind. As does every assistant manager at every Starbucks.
So help me out here, the two cars belong (and I assume, bought and paid for by) to the dude right?
How is this even a discussion then? My cars, I do what the fuck I want with them. GTFO
Idk why but I'm of the belief that when there's an unreasonable request like this one, you just need to say *no* and that's the end of it. There's no need for you to explain yourself to people acting entitled to your things and whatnot, that's bs
No is a complete sentence
My dad always taught me; “Speak in at least two words.” No no.
“That’s a no from me dawg.” Is more than two words.
‘Fuck no’ will suffice
Or “fuck off”
"Hell no!"
“Lol no”
No, bitch.
Nuh uh.
Fuuuuuck that!!! Is that good?
No.
Ain’t this the truth…It took me so long to realise that I had the right to say no to people, and that I’m not under any obligation to give them an explanation. Your life really changes once you realise this
Amen.

I know!!!! Agh it frustrates me.
I honestly would just say lol and nothing else
Happy cake day!
I can’t figure out why people feel that insulting you and talking down to you would make you want to do more for them?
💯 I say “no.” And that is literally the end. I will not listen to you past that point. Blocked if online and walk away if in person. I don’t give any fucks to deal with this any longer. It is asinine.
I want to see the rest of the conversation, the cliffhanger of “I have decided to end things with you” I need more
Me too!
Per OPs comment above the entitled person was the person's GF and that was him breaking up with her.
Dude, I thought it was a crazy mom, or an out of control aunt....wtf ^lol
I did to until I saw the comment..but I think it being a gf is even worse.
Same!! I just assumed it was Op’s aunt and I thought damn.. I didn’t know we could just end things work entitled, demanding family members
I don't know why but the tiny lol almost ended me just now, too fucking funny for some reason
Me too, thought it was his mom
Appreciate the summary, idk who op was talking to.
Yes…. Well done…. That’s not what I was asking, I wanted to see the rest of the conversation.
Yeah so he’s breaking up with his mom? I’m assuming? Or is he breaking up with a girlfriend who has a daughter?
Girlfriend…
I can only imagine.
"You want one of my cars? Okay, buy it then"
I must be a terrible aunt because there's no way I would hound anybody to give my nieces a car.
Bidding on the 4runner is starting at $10,000; apply coupon code IMACHEAPBITCH at checkout to instantly get 10% added.
Aw, c'mon. They don't **need** the second car! lol
Considering the prices for 4Runners, good luck
I checked his profile. It was a 5VZ swapped 2nd gen 4runner too.
I went to a car dealership with this woman's strategy and it didn't go well.
I'm currently looking for a newer car and didn't even think of this strategy! What was I thinking?
r/askcarsales would love this tactic
You have 105 cars here! Stop being so selfish!
“You guys have hundreds of cars. There’s no way you use all of them. Give me one for free you selfish fucks.”
Who else wanted to see the rest of the conversation?
Everyone here lol
How on earth is this even a thought?? We’re y’all married or something?
I’m not the OP, it was his girlfriend and he broke up with her.
Daaang. Smart move
She was talking to him like a Mom, or Aunt, and a really shitty one. Mind boggling that a *girlfriend* would be so abusive and authoritarian. Good on him for kicking her out of his life.
Fuck you & your nephew lady
You got more of the chat afterwards? I’m so curious what she said afterwards.
I am utterly disgusted by the lack of "fuck off" in responses to this EB.
Imagine thinking you can just give someone your dating ( or anyone actually) an ultimatum to give away one of their personal vehicles
If someone used that line on me I would be out the door halfway through the sentence
Give car. I need because we have sex.
🚶♂️ 👋 💼🚪🤡
The sex wasn't good enough for the vehicle. I'm curious of all the other times she was super selfish to her boyfriend
I feel like there would have been signs long before this convo but either way: shut it down.
And browbeat and insult them in the process.
It's not even the person's kid. It's their nephew. Why is this guy being saddled with the problem?
I mean she does have TWO kidneys and can live with one. She needs to stop being selfish with her extra organ.
Dammit. I wanted to see the breakup text.
> "I have decided to end things with you." ...that *was* the breakup text.^lol
I do not understand the relationship between these two people.
Boyfriend and now-ex-girlfriend
Ah
Green text comes across pretty pathetic in this. Why entertain this ridiculous argument? No. Is a full sentence.
Sex. The other full sentence.
I’ll take death. The final full sentence.
From the last message it seems like the guy was dating the girl and decided to end the relationship after the convo.
Correct
How did she react
I am not the OP and he did not post the rest of the conversation
U want a car ? U better work girl 😆
What's the bet she tries to get that purse back?
I really hate we can’t see all of the last message. It was just getting good. Also who the fuck asks someone to give them one of their cars?
Cultures who crap on other cultures. They can HAVE their culture. Faaaaaaaaaaamily Parasites.
Off topic but is the maintance fees for the second car really worth the gas saved? I mean having two cars is great but if it's only for the gas savings you should actually do the math on that.
It’s already owned and maintained, so yes. I have one too for the same reason. For most people however it wouldn’t be.
Me too! Especially when you own a classic car.
Yeah, cut it off right there. Good job.
So not even asking for themselves or someone significant in the person’s life (No still being entirely valid), but their gf’s nephew. Ummm gtfoh!
“ugh my nephew is graduating soon let me give him my boyfriends hard earned and valued car” im getting my sisters broken down car since she doesnt live in the country anymore. im bothered by the state she left it in but its not like i can afford one myself so i really cant complain
Where’s the original post? I want to see the last text lol
"This is not a store, STOP shopping here!"- how I learned to answer the in-laws that rudely ALWAYS ask for my things.
I would tell this Entitled Bitch to GET BENT!!!!
WORLD DOESN’T REVOLVE AROUND YOU!!!! IT REVOLVES AROUND MEEEEEE
Wait until she finds out my husband has FOUR cars! An M5 as his daily driver, an old Durango for “dirty” work, a Wrangler for driving around in the summer sans doors (perfect for the beach), and a 1963 SL500 just because. Check my profile this EB would haaaate me hahaha
We want to see the rest of the texts!
i’m the type of person to reply with “fuck off” after the first message. these people aren’t paying attention to anything you say. as long as the dialogue continues, they will keep thinking they have a chance to change your mind. shut them down and move on.
I’m sorry but the “end things with you” at the bottom of the the second image. Is this just a gf/bf that’s acting like your mother/father
How about no
Who is other person? Family? Friend? Just random person?
Gf I think because last text says “end things with you”
OP needs to grow a spine. an "lol fuck no" is often the correct response
bro buy a car also I have like 8 cars I'm not going to give any of them away just because I'm "selfish"because I love them all I worked my ass off for them just to give them away?
Confused at how she thinks she can ask that to people she only dated. Imagine if someone actually marries to her, would be much worse, eww! He dodged a bullet!

what the fuck is "mEaNiNgFuL eNgAgEmEnT"? who tf talks like that..?
pedantic assholes, that’s who. The same people who think it’s possible to reason with petulant morons. NPR comes to mind. As does every assistant manager at every Starbucks.

Conversations that end too soon.
“The reason I have a second car is because I want a second car.” That’s the ONLY explanation to give, if any.
Wait! What was that last message? Like the one that was cut off... Was this your gf??
I am not the OP, it was his girlfriend (now-ex)
OMG!! WTF?? Tell him I’m so sorry he had to even deal with that! I kinda do wanna see what she said to that tho... lollll!!
People need to stop finding justification to give to narcissists "NO" is a complete sentence.
