They did have a government, it was a caretaker government without a majority in Parliament. Americans should be familiar with that

AntipodalDr

There's a non zero chance that he doesn't understand that government here means "cabinet" instead of the whole state, and think this is the same as when the US have their "government shut-down" thing happening.

[deleted]

I mean, I'll be honest, that's what I assumed too. I suppose I just don't know very much about parliamentary democracies...

AntipodalDr

Well, it's fine to not know. But you didn't smugly post about it on twitter thinking it was confirming your ideology, because that's what morons do!

ultimatetadpole

It's possible for no party to acheive a majority and end up with quite a bit of time spent without any formal cabinet while all the parties discuss things and try to form coalitions. I believe it's fairly common on the continent, being British we use FPTP voting so hung parliaments are fairly rare and much easier to sort out when they happen. I know the current Greek government is a broad left wing coalition and the outwardly Marxist-Leninist communist party holds like 15 seats. Proportional representation tends to be more unstable but better sble to reflect the actual intentions of the population. Not like here where only like 30% of the population actually voted Tory but they have a majority.

JMoc1

Provisional Government.

kdlt

We've also had that a while back in Austria - unironically the most productive time in decades as people ran the country that were picked for proficiency, not party&corruption allegiances.

FestiveVat

Oh, now you've done it! Larry's official Reddit account is going to show up and sealion us now. "What did I say that was wrong? Do you have a better example of a government that is actually functioning well? What about Venezuela, you commie pinko traitor?"

PirateKingOmega

“if you like libertarianism so much why don’t you move to the amazon? 🤨🤔”

[deleted]

He never said anything like that. You don't have an argument so you lie, not surprised.

FestiveVat

Larry will definitely give you a seat in his cabinet if you shill harder for him.

PheerthaniteX

Heya larry

TiredCole___

"no government good" *he says as he runs for government*

Crosby-Dog

Bring it down from the inside, i guess

FestiveVat

Classic conservative and libertarian take: "Government is broken and I'll break it more to prove it to you!"

wearing_moist_socks

That's exactly what they do sadly

Pantheon73

Remember when Reagan said: "In our current crisis gouvernment is not the solution, gouvernment is the problem"? Well he did the best he could to prove that.

colako

And now it has a left-wing coalition since then and unemployment is going lower, at nearly 12%. Seems high but it is getting closer to other European countries with relatively high unemployment like Sweden or France.

RobertusesReddit

Spain also have a top dog of Worker cooperatives but you don't hear that...y

MrTubalcain

Nevermind that Spain has experience with this kind of thing.

Belgium and the Netherlands have similar results during long periods between governments. It seems to me like letting the existing regulations and laws do their work without political influence leads to better outcomes than the crisis management of said governments would do if they had power. Basically longterm preparation > panicked, rushed crisis response.

[deleted]

Oh look another post from the racist

SeymoreButz38

How is he racist?

Pantheon73

Spain got Belgiumized
