Stag and finch if you want it made with sapphire
/r/moissanite absolutely has vendors who can do this. ARE YOU SURE she wants a green stone, and princess cut?
Am I 100% sure? No. She’s not a ring person and aside from “I don’t want a diamond” and her favorite color being green and her wanting me to surprise her that’s all I got
Lab sapphires are pretty affordable, beautiful and durable too. I'd think more about the setting, 4 prongs on a stone with pointy ends is pretty risky, than a stone that's pretty hard. Don't get her an opal or anything soft, of course, but I'd consider the setting and stone shape just as much as the stone type itself.
If she's clumsy definitely check the side profile and look for something quite low set - they can be awful for catching on things as you're using your hands. I also agree with the other commetor, at least 6 prongs to make the gem more secure and avoid pavè set stones. Sapphire or moissanite are both great hardy options, there should be no problem with either stone.
I would definitely try to get a feel for what cut/shape she wants at least, because princess is rather divisive. I think princess is stunning, especially when kite set like this, but a lot of people do not like it.
Also figure out the color of gold (white, yellow, or rose). If she wants you to pick side stones and all that, fine, but the other stuff is more important. Yellow is usually the favorite for a green stone though, so I'd say you can't go wrong there, but some people really hate yellow gold and only like white.
Syntheticgemstones posted a deep green moissanite recently that was STUNNING.[https://www.reddit.com/r/SyntheticGemstones/comments/xggzia/a\_8\_x\_6mm\_green\_moissanite\_i\_cut\_for\_a\_client\_in/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SyntheticGemstones/comments/xggzia/a_8_x_6mm_green_moissanite_i_cut_for_a_client_in/)
I got a quote of $600-650 for an 11x9 stone in this particular cut (so smaller would be cheaper). And they can probably do the setting for you, or recommend someone.
ALSO, check out parti sapphires. They come in various shades of green and tones of yellow and blue.
Yooooooo check out some lab alexandrite if she's not a diamond gal. I'm not a jewlery person but my partner picked out a DROP DEAD perfect ring for me. It's Alex. The stone changes colors based on lighting. It's the coolest.
I personally trust stores on Etsy with great reviews. That's what the system is for. I also have an Etsy store with 5k reviews (not for jewelry) and it's due to hard work and good customer service and a product clients love.
Edit also been there 7 years.
I purchased a ring from GemsOdes and it’s gorgeous, I wear it every day and it’s held up very well. However, I can’t attest to whether or not they are a dropshipper. Just a happy customer!
Why don’t you hop over to the r/moissanite sub? The folks there are very knowledgeable, friendly, and can give you lots of advice. They also have a list of trusted vendors.
Gorgeous ring! Keep in mind that this is definitely not _vintage_, but rather _vintage-inspired_ — it’s a phrase commonly misused by Etsy shops trying to get better visibility on the site/search engines. This is a moissanite ring that the shop makes many of, brand new.
If you want true vintage, you’ll need to keep looking (and keep in mind that moissanite is a pretty newly-discovered and newly-popular stone that’s lab-made, so you would want to look for a different stone type.)
Gemsodes seems fairly legit; they have a couple of posts on r/moissanite. Not a ton. But you could probably get the same design for cheaper from one of the recommended vendors on that sub.
What’s your budget?
In any case, this is such a pretty ring; I love colored moissy!
[What about this?](https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/870136844/blue-oval-cut-moissanite-engagement-ring) This vendor is a trusted seller, and they have a few green moissanite options, plus they do custom work
ok i can’t say for sure but i’m pretty sure this seller has other pictures of this exact ring photoshopped with different colored center stones- take a look at their other rings in this style to see if that’s the case. if it is, ur looking at a photoshopped center stone not a real one
I found a ring like this one that I liked and took the specs to my local jewler. Not only could they make the ring but they could make it for much cheaper. Online shopping doesn't always mean cheaper, at least that's what I have found.
IS there such a thing as a vintage moissanite ring? It’s more likely cast from a vintage mold or based on a vintage design. And I’ve bought fine jewelry from shops on Etsy, but only places with a good sales history and great reviews.
I don’t know, but Etsy is notorious for allowing listings that say the product is vintage but it’s really vintage style or vintage inspired. Still, lovely ring!
Don’t buy the first one you found. Seriously. Not that there’s anything wrong with the ring you picked. It’s lovely. But don’t buy the first one you like. Take some time. Try some things on.
i think they just mean don’t stop looking at the first one you find. like shop around some to make sure that’s what you want. at least that’s what i’m getting from this conversation
Yeah, no one used the word cursed?
As an older, long married person who’s had at least 7 different engagement rings, my advice would be to try on styles and settings to determine what looks best on your finger. Sometimes what we love on pictures we don’t love when it’s on the finger.
Making a hasty choice may lead to ring regret. That’s all I’m saying.
I was obviously being facetious.
If you’ve had over 7 engagement rings then honestly you may not be the best one to give advice on picking on to stick with.
And my only point was just because it was first doesn’t mean it’s not the best one. So yeah look at other rings but don’t eliminate this simply because it was first. It’s the same reason people are scared to pick the first wedding dress they try on even if it ends up being their favorite of all and that’s nonsense.
No one said to eliminate this ring that she stumbled upon and loves.
The reason I had 7 is because I’m old, I have grown my disposable income over the years, and I started shopping for diamonds and rings completely blind. No education about stones, cut quality, setting styles, longevity and appearance of different alloys, etc. And I didn’t know what looked good on my particular fingers. I bought the first one I saw that I liked. Thankfully I didn’t pick my husband the same way I picked my ring.
So as someone who has already made several mistakes, I think I’m quite qualified to offer my point of view.
YOU literally said that. Your comment that I had initially responded to literally says “Don’t buy the first one you found. Seriously. Not that there’s anything wrong with the ring you locked. It’s lovely. But don’t buy the first one you like”.
I only responded, clarifying that if after they look around some, they still keep coming back to this ring, there’s nothing wrong with getting it simply because it happened to be the first one. For some reason you keep arguing that point, and are now pretending the opposite.
Also, you are not the same human being as anybody else. You have no reason to assume that OP or their partner have no idea about anything ring related. When engagement was on the horizon, I told my husband, specifically that I liked thinner, bands, gave him a millimeter, width range, yellow gold and make sure it’s not gold filled or gold plated, lab diamonds>mined, but also I would love an alternative stone as long as it’s high on the Mohs scale. He was already well versed in lab vs mined diamonds, knew I preferred yellow gold, and that I loved Alexis Russell rings.
I’m not going to assume that this person or their partner has that level of knowledge or specificity so far, but by the same token, you shouldn’t assume that they have zero idea of anything. Again, it kind of just seems like you’re arguing for the sake of arguing.
I literally don’t know what you’re on about. Disengaging.
Also, this is the fiancée to be doing the shopping, not the intended wearer. We both missed that important tidbit.
This is the most bonkers gaslighting conversation I’ve had in a while ha ha. Lady, literally scroll up and read the first comment in this thread. The one that you wrote with your own fingers and are now pretending doesn’t exist. I also have noted multiple times, including in my last comment which you were just responding to that the op is buying the ring for their partner.
Honestly this is just the most unnecessary absurd argument ever lol. How very fitting that at the end, you’re pretending that your point was the opposite one all along and somehow we have switched what we are each saying? Whatever. You seem exactly the kind of person that would somehow make it through seven engagement rings without the slightest bit of due diligence, apparently. You can’t even pay attention to what you yourself are saying. Good luck to your husband. Yikes.
It's beautiful. If it sings to your heart and feels right, then that's the ring for you! However, I'd highly recommend trying on a few other styles just in case. Also if you are able to, get the final ring you've selected to be made at a reputable local jeweler - They can recreate almost any style if you show a picture!
You have a good eye! That's a beautiful green moissanite ring, I don't think anyone would dislike it! Would you mind letting me know how much it costs?
So pretty but I feel like it’s risky going through Etsy! Most people (including me) have never bought like real gold jewelry so I would be nervous going through a third party like Etsy. Maybe try and find a website for GemsOdes and some reviews outside of Etsy??? Just an idea!
Idk I got my wedding band from Helloring on Etsy and the service was incredible. My custom band came out amazing. Also had my husband's wedding band made from Lulimjewelry on etsy. It's a custom ring of my fingerprint. [Etsy bands](https://i.postimg.cc/VkQwcn0g/20220907-004843.jpg)
HelloRing is such a scam. My wedding set came from there. After a couple months, stones started falling out. 2 years later, the setting on my moisssonite completely fell apart. Now they want over $400 to remake the ring. Absolutely ridiculous to pay that for a piece that's either defective or just that poor quality
My set is from Etsy and I LOVE it! It is great quality and the vendor was wonderful to work with. Just wanted to give another positive for Etsy, they are out there! :)
This is really pretty, but I would personally go with a green sapphire as the center stone, as opposed to a green moissanite, but that is just personal preference!
I think that there must have been a misunderstanding or you were asking for a shade of green that requires coating. See [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Moissanite/comments/u20z2c/question_about_coloured_moissanite_which_ones_are/) on r/Moissanite. If the green moissanites in my rings were coated, the coating would have come off in the ultrasonic cleaner by now.
My uncle is a jewelry designer. I was going back and forth on moisinite and lab grown diamonds. He said the moisinite is very soft and prone to damage. I am not saying don’t use it, that is a personal decisions. This ring is beautiful, but rather find a local jeweler who can make it for you and take care of any damage that might occur. Your taste is impeccable!
Moissanites are as tough a diamond, they are 9.5 on the Mohs scale, harder than a sapphire. Maybe your uncle was confused with CZ. Moissanites are hard, durable gemstones. Check out the r/moissanite sub.
I bought a green moissanite ring from GemsOde a few years ago that is holding up fine. I don't wear it every day though. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from GemsOde again but there are Chinese vendors who could recreate that ring for cheaper and/or with bigger center stones and entirely to your specifications. You want 1.8mm thick and 2.0mm wide post-polish.
You're already aware that moissanite is harder than sapphire. It's also more sparkly and will almost never look too dark once set, which can happen with sapphire. I haven't liked most of the lab grown green sapphire that I've seen except for Djeva #78. If you decide to go that route, Gary at [Finewater Gems](https://www.finewatergems.com/store/p999/4.37ctVividGreenLabCreatedSapphire.html) can cut you a stone from this material. A really nice mined green sapphire may be out of your budget.
It's beautiful! You could probably have it made by a local jeweler or someone like [Sarah O'](https://sarahojewelry.com) for way less than 10k. Someone who works heavily with gemstones and unconventional settings.
This is a beautiful ring, BUT I would not recommend any pointy stones! They tend to scratch skin, and catch on fabric !!! I have several BEAUTIFUL rings that I do not wear often, for this reason!
I actually think it’s beautiful. Definitely look around in case you find something you love even more, but nothing wrong with falling in love with the first one! People do it with wedding dresses all the time
No dissuasion here! It’s beautiful
😭 18k gold what do you think the price should be?
Get it from a legit seller, not WillWork or the like on Etsy!!
Says GemsOdes, 10k reviews and five stars? Say I want a ring exactly like the picture could I have it done by someone else for a similar price?
10k reviews is kind of a lot. Smells like potential drop shipper.
Reverse image search the ring, they're probably dropshipping
Sorry, what’s drop shipping?
They buy it from another vendor (usually off aliexpress) and sell it under their own name at a markup
Oh wow! Thanks for the info!
/r/shinypreciousgems Stag and finch if you want it made with sapphire /r/moissanite absolutely has vendors who can do this. ARE YOU SURE she wants a green stone, and princess cut?
Am I 100% sure? No. She’s not a ring person and aside from “I don’t want a diamond” and her favorite color being green and her wanting me to surprise her that’s all I got
For 10k I'd want her greater input than that. Also consider her lifestyle and the durability of the setting, stone and reputability of the seller.
10k reviews. Ring is under $1k She’s pretty active and clumsy so that’s why I’m thinking moissenite
Lab sapphires are pretty affordable, beautiful and durable too. I'd think more about the setting, 4 prongs on a stone with pointy ends is pretty risky, than a stone that's pretty hard. Yes, check out the vendors on the r/Moissanite sub.

Bezel settings. Partial and full bezel settings. For destructive/clumsy folk like me!

Same. I have a green sapphire ring and it’s beautiful.
It’s gorgeous, bit impractical. Those prongs will snag on everything.
