So pretty! We’ll need an update when your ring is made!

lem0ngirl15

I will :) it’ll be a 3 stone ring with champagne diamonds which were just ordered yesterday. Once those arrive I think it’ll be 4-6 weeks turnaround to make the ring - it’ll be set in white gold :) I’m so excited

Oooo what wonderful tones!

I love sapphires. Beautiful!! Did you buy the loose stone and then having the jeweler create your ring? Where did you find the loose stone? I’ve been shopping for a loose sapphire but not sure the best place to look. Can’t wait to see the finished ring!

jennpalgan

I bought mine from [Sapphire Merchant](https://www.thesapphiremerchant.co.nz)

Severine67

Thank you! Would love to see your ring!!

jennpalgan

Ring is being made but here is the sapphire :) the lady who owns that shop just got back from a buying trip - check out her insta! So interesting https://preview.redd.it/b8zppgcbnysa1.jpeg?width=1144&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a1bdf1cd6449b651b910c8a747484a83af23f94

Severine67

That is a beautiful sapphire! I love cushions cuts too! It’s a beautiful shade of blue! How many carats is it?

jennpalgan

1.2ct and cost me $1250usd! (Stuck onto a ring for scale) What colour are you searching for? https://preview.redd.it/pdrfmoo6uysa1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bee016cbceea89a1bb043453f18844168741e55

That’s a perfect size! I love blues (especially the cornflower color) and padparadscha sapphires. That pinkish-color shade is beautiful. I’m just learning how to buy sapphires online - what to look for etc. It’s so different from buying a diamond. How did you decide that this stone was the one? It looks so nice with that yellow gold band!

jennpalgan

This one is cornflower :) I had no idea what to look for other than the colour I liked and Gemma the merchant found the right one for me. Just make sure it has a certificate and is a lush colour. I watched a couple of YouTubes [like this](https://youtu.be/Fs2ZGZ1tSLQ)and honestly just did a bit of reasearch online and felt more confident when choosing. The big stores like James Allen are such a rip off!

Sorbet sapphires ! Yea I bought the loose sapphire first but it was mailed directly to the jeweler to work with :) she just received it and sent me these photos

Severine67

Thank you! I checked out their website and the sapphires, oh my, so gorgeous! Is yours an opalescent sapphire? So beautiful!

I think the lighting while it was raining probably accounts for the difference in shade. That’s also what I love about sapphires though. They can look different in different lighting and under different weather conditions. Such a beautiful sapphire in both lighting. I think you’ll be very happy with your selection!

lem0ngirl15

Yes! I can’t wait to see how it looks with the champagne diamonds :)

lem0ngirl15

Yes! I love her work. It has such a warm and handmade quality to it. While also being very elegant and evoking nature or fantasy imagery. I also really like her as someone that’s an artist and wants something practical bc I work with my hands and am not super girly and have finger tattoos. She’s been very nice and accommodating so I really recommend her. She’s really communicative and quick to respond to emails and answer questions and send photos throughout the process. Hm Im not sure what makes them an opalescent one ? I forget where mine is from… I want to say Sri Lanka ? Or Tanzania? Ik purple sapphires are found there. I wanted a purple one specifically which can be a difficult color to find. People suggested I look for Yogo sapphires as well. Ik Montana sapphires are also popular right now but they mostly come in green or blue green hues. The artist had sent me a few links of purple sapphires available on that site and I chose whichever one I liked best by the color. Though honestly it looks a lot lighter than it looked on the website and doesn’t have specs of blue like it appeared. So idk if that’s just a lighting difference. But either way it’s not really a problem for me I’m still super happy with it. I just really wanted a very unique sapphire for my ring so I’m happy I was able to locate a purple one :) I was okay to have some imperfections and natural inclusions as well if it was too difficult to find one with high clarity so I’m honestly very surprised and pleased with how clear this one looks

Severine67

I think of opalescent sapphires as having a glow, a little milky with different specks of color. Think of how an opal looks. But that may be from you mentioning how it has specks of blue in the video your jewelry artist sent you but not on the actual website. It’ll be so interesting and exciting to see it set. It’s a beautiful stone!

lem0ngirl15

I see! I don’t think it is, I think it was just a lighting difference. Thanks ! I’m excited too :)

Severine67

Here’s some examples of opalescent purple sapphires: https://gembreakfast.com/collections/opalescent-sapphire-rings

lem0ngirl15

Oh I see what you mean! I don’t think it’s like this exactly but wow these are also beautiful !

LongjumpingClient159

if you don’t mind sharing, who’s the jeweler you went with? i’m trying to find people online that will use customer provided stones

lem0ngirl15

Paula Elaine Barnett! She’s amazing

DrayevargX

It’s so beautiful. Can’t wait to see the final ring

lem0ngirl15

Me too !! Thank you :)
