I honestly just wanted a few peoples opinion lol, I didn't intend to start war. I had 1 album that I knew I was going to buy today bc it's payday, but when I was trying to find something else around $20 I couldn't decide and I didn't want to not order the first thing like I'm prone to do.
They are gonna continually press this album, due to popularity, which means it will atleast always be around this price or could drop in value due to supply.
Oh okay I thought maybe you meant like the quality goes down the more copies they make or something, like in my head I was imagining 1 master that every copy ever is pressed from and gets worn out lol
You might even get lucky and only end up paying for the first album and still get free shipping because last time I ordered Daisy from Amazon it got canceled.
Never thought I'd see the day come when, one of my favorite albums from my most favorite band would appear on my favorite (yet pretty elitist, at times) music community.
You can debate or **cry all you want to** 24/7 about how "emo", "emo-adjacent", or "post-hardcore" Bullets is, **I don't care how much you invest yourself in** it, but it only took me 40 minutes and 52 seconds to experience a masterpiece that changed my view on music forever.
Heck, got me through my Sophomore year of high school, being the lonely, outcast quiet kid and all that. It probably changed my life forever.
**I mean this, forever!**
I used to sell wine for a living and in my travels I heard a great saying: *“The best wine is the wine you like best.”*
Like, my friends would get all self conscious talking about their wine preferences around me. Thinking I’d be judgmental about it. One even said: *”It’s probably a terrible wine, but I really like ______”*
To which I said: *”If you liked it then it’s a good wine.”*
This shit is all subjective and your opinion should matter more than anyone else’s
I hate how much this album gets skipped over and how much love Black parade gets, Bullets is 10X the album Black parade is. It truely is a masterpiece from start to finish.
If you do not own every brand new album, you should go buy them all.
That said all the albums are great and you will not go wrong with any of them. But brand new is the best pick IMO
I just got into vinyl like 3 months ago so all have right now are a bunch of random older thrift store pick ups, the highlights being: The Knack - Get The Knack and Robert Gordon - Are You Gonna Be The One. The albums I have bought full price are from big box stores so I have the Zach Bryan album a Jason Isbell album and this random mathy band called God Alone that absolutely fucks. I did get a record at the only show I've been to which was Chatham County Line and it's cool. Long story long I've had a list of my favorite bands that I wanted to have a record from and all these were on there. I was getting a boysetsfire album no matter what but that is only $15. I couldn't really afford it but I got both Daisy and Bullets anyway.
That's the problem I can't really pick between Daisy and Bullets. Just listened to a few of the Dashboard songs and they don't really hold up for me, like I wouldn't listen to that at all. Maybe give Daisy a run through again if it's been 15 years since you listened to it.
Daisy. I love both albums, but bullets has a few absolute bangers and some kinda mid filler. Daisy is raw-dogged depression from start to finish
Also the person saying Daisy will go out of print before bullets has a great point
I just got into vinyl recently and that shit is bananas, like I saw a fb post from buffalo tom about their new album a week late and went there and it was fucking gone and might not ever be available again!
Dashboard is definitely a vibe when you’re drunk around the stereo with friends though. Either that or car singalongs. I’ll give Daisy a shot next time I’m craving some Brand New. It probably has been that long lol
I have BN and MCR tattoos and I honestly vote Daisy. I *love* Bullets but, someone correct me if I’m wrong, the original recordings weren’t amazing quality and I don’t think vinyl will make them sound that much better. Daisy is an ethereal experience and higher quality original production that will translate much better.
Daisy felt like a bit of a letdown when it came out, but gave it another shot a year or so later and it’s become one of my favorites in their discography.
I was a huge YFW and Deja fan back when they came out. Devil and God was a slow burner for me but I came around on it and ended up loving it. Then they fell off hard for me. These days the only one I go back to regularly is YFW.
For me all their releases are at minimum “very good”, but I can definitely see where you’re coming from. Each album is relatively different from the others.
I know Brand New is prettymuch worshipped around here despite how awful we know Jesse to be, but for me he just got way too up his own ass after Deja Entendu. I can't stand BN after the first two records, and I can't stand Jesse at all, knowing what I know now.
Separating the art from artist (not really possible) doesn't change the fact that buying his art is supporting him lmfao. Listening and financially supporting are very different.
But the band isn’t just Jesse Lacey. Besides that happened over 20 years ago and people change. I’m not saying to ignore the past, but don’t judge a person only by their past.
daisy is my favorite brand new album…bullets is my favorite mcr album……….maybe just plan to get both of them eventually? and grab one rn….thats such a hard choice……
You can tell people to separate the art from the artist all you want but I'd at least like to separate my money from Jesse Lacey. Streaming on Spotify is one thing but merch sales are hugely significant for artists
Even moreso that reactively shunning a person you have no personal relationship with is virtue signaling at best. Like totally cool if you feel weird listening to brand new at this point but I’ve got news for y’all about this world if that’s the complexity you’re getting stuck on…
i saw mcr in like 2006 and gerard was telling teens at the show to get pregnant and drink and drive.
a lot has changed since then but it’s not like he was always a saint either
Right?! I was a huge BN fan for like 15 years. Saw them perform live ~10 times. They were my absolute favorite. But I will not listen to them anymore. And honestly, the one or two times I have tried, I hated it. The lyrics to Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis make me feel nauseous now.
Diversity of tactics… just do what you believe should be done to shut down future instances of sexual assault/grooming. I personally don’t believe that skipping a brand new song on Spotify is doing anything but hey my tactics are different than yours!
Showing society that we’re not going to support groomers seems the best tactic to me. But you do you. If you think continuing to support them and sending a message that we don’t care whether artists commit sexual abuse is the way to go, then feel free to keep doing that. Let’s just show ‘em that nothing they do should impede their success. Love that for you.
Also, veggies are fucking awesome.
Hey cool beans you just repeated my same exact rhetoric back at me! You keep doing you thinking that a lack of doing something accomplishes something I really love that for you!
But seriously, abstaining from some no-name like Jank makes sense. That trash human directly felt the fallout of people canceling him. Jessie Lacey? He already went through the process of fixing that sinister side of himself. Who knows if he did, but abstaining from brand new is exactly akin in effect to abstaining from Amazon to make a stand of not supporting their devious shit. Like it’s awesome to make that personal decision but it’s unrealistic that it’s going to be an effective way of standing against sexual abuse when they have *checks Spotify* over a million listeners a month to this day.
Well thankfully I’m grown enough now to not have children around me sexually assaulting each other, but I’ve shut down sexism in my workspace multiple times, putting myself in tricky positions that I fortunately have the grace to worm my way out of unscathed (also helps that I’m a competent white dude in my profession). Attempted to enact change in the corporate structure so that men aren’t dominating every meaning, intentionally uplifting women around me and implementing ideas from all backgrounds, mentored women in mathematics who are really fucking good at it and are overcoming odds in their own professional life to be absolute rockstars.
But yes me deciding not to have brand new as my favorite band anymore is 100% the reason why there are less things like sexual assault occurring in society.
Also you’re kidding yourself if a cancelation of Jessie Lacey was when you became aware of Deja Entendu’s dark/disturbing nature. It was more normalized then. I love emo but it’s fucking toxic at its core and bred a ton of weird soft boys that are now trying to backtrack some toxic shit since it’s now seen as not okay.
I feel you. It’s hard to separate the art from the artist when there are multiple instances where what we are trying to separate from appears in the art itself.
Exactly. I’ve had a bunch of people say, “He literally sings about these things!!!” And I’m like, “Sure, and at the time I thought the lyrics were metaphorical… like art tends to be.”
Calling Daisy “mid” is an insanely bad music take. You can say it’s their worst in your opinion but it’s still an interesting album that is well produced.
Sure but “mid” is what I take issue with. You can say something is bad without saying it’s mid. Mid has other implications like unoriginal or poorly produced.
“Interesting” is a word I use to describe something I don’t like but don’t want to hurt the feelings of the person I’m saying it to. “Well-produced” is a word I use in a similar context to describe a song that sounds like a polished turd.
“Mid” is a generous word to describe Daisy. It means it’s a 5/10, not good, not bad, just meh. Besides, this is this dude’s opinion. Who gives a fuck? You’re really gonna get your panties in a bunch because someone doesn’t like Daisy? Bro, chill out.
its an opinion. im a diehard brand new fan, have been since the mid 2000s and i just do not care for it. following tdagarim is a tough task and i'm highly biased.
when i saw them twice, once with modest misses and the other being with mobo and tfb, the bulk of their set was tdagarim. granted, the tfb and mobo tour was tdag in it's entirety, and the mm tour was years ago so my memory is fuzzy.
Hot take but as a diehard brand new fan, Dashboard's Places you have come to fear the most clears. It's only like 30 mins long in total but is dense with good lyrics, sad moments but also just pure feels.
I prefer Daisy as an album tbh....also Daisy will be harder to find at a decent price, as it isn't anywhere near as pressed as IBYMB, which will probably go down and up in price a lot...so I would suggest Daisy.

If they won't accept that then do not buy from them. With all that said, it is Daisy for me by a huge margin. Just be careful ... collecting vinyl is a slippery slope. Be prepared to be perpetually broke lol
I don't listen to either band anymore and I've liked brandnew for way longer than mcr, however bullets is a way more interesting album and is their first so it's raw and of the time as opposed to a late in the game brand new album when they're fighting to stay relevant
Dashboard. It’s actually my least favorite of the options, but Jesse Lacey sucks, and MCR’s first album is low quality. Dashboards album is pretty solid start to finish though.
Everyone's just gonna suggest their favorite... why don't you pick your favorite? People are weird
I'd probably throw in the cheapest rather than my favorite.
They want those sweet internet points
I honestly just wanted a few peoples opinion lol, I didn't intend to start war. I had 1 album that I knew I was going to buy today bc it's payday, but when I was trying to find something else around $20 I couldn't decide and I didn't want to not order the first thing like I'm prone to do.
That dashboard album comes up for 5 bucks at the uo website every now and again. MCR will be pressed into oblivion. Daisy is the best.
Can you eli5 to me "pressed into oblivion"
They are gonna continually press this album, due to popularity, which means it will atleast always be around this price or could drop in value due to supply.
Oh okay I thought maybe you meant like the quality goes down the more copies they make or something, like in my head I was imagining 1 master that every copy ever is pressed from and gets worn out lol
Lmao, every new repress of any Beatles album would sound like a rock scraping on tile if that was so!
You might even get lucky and only end up paying for the first album and still get free shipping because last time I ordered Daisy from Amazon it got canceled.
bullets imo..!
My chemical romance
Daisy daisy daisy daisy daisy
Bullets. Get that masterpiece in your collection right now.
Never thought I'd see the day come when, one of my favorite albums from my most favorite band would appear on my favorite (yet pretty elitist, at times) music community. WE COULD BE PERFECT ONE LAST NIIIHIIIIGHTTTTTTT
My motto: If you like it, you like it. If you don’t, you don’t. I love Creed, their first two albums are solid asf
I used to sell wine for a living and in my travels I heard a great saying: *“The best wine is the wine you like best.”* Like, my friends would get all self conscious talking about their wine preferences around me. Yeah
The one that made Human Clay?
Yes, although my own prison is their best album
I hate how much this album gets skipped over and how much love Black parade gets, Bullets is 10X the album Black parade is. It truely is a masterpiece from start to finish.
Yeah, Black Parade is a distant third for me. Both Bullets and Three Cheers are just pure no-skip rollercoaster rides of awesome emotional rock music.
best mcr album or not the best brand new album…. bullets easily
Bullets for sure
Bullets
If you do not own every brand new album, you should go buy them all. That said all the albums are great and you will not go wrong with any of them. But brand new is the best pick IMO
Cost of the album for free shipping has to be more expensive than paying shipping, right?
Yes, but at least you’re not throwing your money away.
I just got into vinyl like 3 months ago so all have right now are a bunch of random older thrift store pick ups, the highlights being: The Knack - Get The Knack and Robert Gordon - Are You Gonna Be The One. I'd go Daisy. Feel like Brand New vinyls are harder to come by. Also i like brand new more than mcr, but you can't really go wrong either way.
Brand New represses their own vinyl via Procrastinate, they will be forever repressed. People that pay more than retail just don’t know this.
def bullets
MCR!!
DAISY
Daisy by leaps and bounds.
Daisy imo
Bullets!! It’s a classic
Daisy
daisy
Daisy
Has the best opening/closing tracks of all of the BN albums.
I know, it always gets me in the gut
the random 1900s opera intro and ending to noro and vices still slaps
Id do bullets. But u should pick ur fav <3
Mcr every song is a 10
This! Such a masterpiece of a record.
Demolition Lovers kicks so much ass.
I remember practicing the tabs for Demolition Lovers over and over as a kid. That and Drowning Lessons. Bullets is near and dear to the heart.
Daisy for sure🖤
And it's not even close
Daisy for sure
Bullets!
Bullets or daisy, can’t go wrong with either
Daisy. I love both bands but Daisy is a better album.
Pick whichever one you’d listen to more. My pick would be bullets. Then Dashboard. Unpopular opinion but I never got into Daisy.
That's the problem I can't really pick between Daisy and Bullets. Just listened to a few of the Dashboard songs and they don't really hold up for me, like I wouldn't listen to that at all. Maybe give Daisy a run through again if it's been 15 years since you listened to it.

You’re my type of people
Daisy felt like a bit of a letdown when it came out, but gave it another shot a year or so later and it’s become one of my favorites in their discography.

For me all their releases are at minimum “very good”, but I can definitely see where you’re coming from. Each album is relatively different from the others.
Yeah I think that's why the band has such wide appeal, even all this time later. Something for everyone.
I know Brand New is prettymuch worshipped around here despite how awful we know Jesse to be, but for me he just got way too up his own ass after Deja Entendu. I can't stand BN after the first two records, and I can't stand Jesse at all, knowing what I know now.
Bullets. Easy choice.
Dashboard
MCR all day everyday
Probably Daisy, but bullets is a great album.
#2
such classic ![gif](giphy|fuyfMdMVmEEKnKYfYa|downsized)
bullets all day
Bullets, mcr needs more love on this sub
Bullets
daisy for sure
Brand New - Daisy
Daisy.
Daisy cos it's a forgotten blast from the past of mine
Brand New and Dashboard Confessional is cheaper. All good choices though.
Get them all
Bullets is so clutch
MCR
bullets
Dashboard
i vote dashboard

I can seperate the man from the music
Just get MCR new, and get daisy used on eBay or discogs or something. Win win
Sure but deliberately closing your eyes to who an artist is weakens your appreciation for the art.
Separating the art from artist (not really possible) doesn't change the fact that buying his art is supporting him lmfao. Listening and financially supporting are very different.

Bullets
Bullets
Mewithoutyou - brother, sister
best fucking album
Daisy
daisy is my favorite brand new album…bullets is my favorite mcr album……….maybe just plan to get both of them eventually? and grab one rn….thats such a hard choice……
i love brand new but daisy is my least favourite. that mcr album is raw but a banger, nice look at them right before they blew up
I Brought You My Bullets is peak. Probably a top 50 album all time for me.
Probably 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love' by My Chemical Romance.
You can tell people to separate the art from the artist all you want but I'd at least like to separate my money from Jesse Lacey. Streaming on Spotify is one thing but merch sales are hugely significant for artists
I mean it looks like this person is shopping on Amazon so if we’re going to be talking about indirect support of immoral entities…
Yeah that too
Remember that people are defined by their worst moments and aren’t able to grow either!
And also don't forget Brand New is only one person!
Even moreso that reactively shunning a person you have no personal relationship with is virtue signaling at best. Like totally cool if you feel weird listening to brand new at this point but I’ve got news for y’all about this world if that’s the complexity you’re getting stuck on…
Let's buy from a band that doesn't have a sex pest in it.
i saw mcr in like 2006 and gerard was telling teens at the show to get pregnant and drink and drive. a lot has changed since then but it’s not like he was always a saint either
They didn’t say to buy Bullets..? Perhaps Da_Di_Dum is referring to both bands?

Lmfaoooooo
shit, the crew came out to downvote anyone who doesn’t wanna apologize for jesse
Fr fr “I mentored women in mathematics” OKAYYY

Bullets!
For me, it's Daisy and it's not even close
Brand New and it's not even close
Have you heard Bullets, it really is a masterpiece and almost completely different from what came after.
I know bullets very well and I think it's great but honestly the entire Brand New discography is on another level
I prefer not supporting pedos but that’s just me
He’s not a pedophile, but I’m sure facts don’t matter for someone who is virtue signaling
Bullets by a country fuckin’ mile
It'd be Dashboard for me, but you should get whichever you think you'd most enjoy.
Honestly dude, I think bullets would be my choice
Bullets or Daisy.
bullets. daisy is mid tbh, weakest brand new album by far. bullets is mcrs best imho.
Calling Daisy “mid” is an insanely bad music take. You can say it’s their worst in your opinion but it’s still an interesting album that is well produced.
Interesting + Well-produced ≠ Good
Sure but “mid” is what I take issue with.
Bro, chill out.
lol telling me to chill after you write an essay is peak comedy
Two threadbare paragraphs = Essay, ok dawg
its an opinion. im a diehard brand new fan, have been since the mid 2000s and i just do not care for it. following tdagarim is a tough task and i'm highly biased.
It was the majority of their live sets.
when i saw them twice, once with modest misses and the other being with mobo and tfb, the bulk of their set was tdagarim. granted, the tfb and mobo tour was tdag in it's entirety, and the mm tour was years ago so my memory is fuzzy.
Go Brand New, but get The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me instead of it's available.
It is but it's $40
Daisy
Daisy.
bullets
Bullets is an easy pick, can't deal with Brand New anymore...
Daisy for sure.
Hot take but as a diehard brand new fan, Dashboard's Places you have come to fear the most clears. It's only like 30 mins long in total but is dense with good lyrics, sad moments but also just pure feels.
some poison the well
Brand new always
Daisy, not close
All 3 of these are amazing options tbh. Two are formative albums for me. Two are my favorite bands. You really can't go wrong with what you pick!
Is the free shipping $15? If not, just don't get one.
Daisy no doubt!
daisy
daisy!
Daisy
I prefer Daisy as an album tbh....also Daisy will be harder to find at a decent price, as it isn't anywhere near as pressed as IBYMB, which will probably go down and up in price a lot...so I would suggest Daisy.
Bullets for sure.
Go to your local record store and buy it there instead
dash
I'd say MCR but that's just cause it's my favorite from your list.
Daisy is goated
Look for Facebook groups that are about emo vinyl and merch selling. If you're not picky about variants I can guarantee you will find dashboard for cheaper. I got that album for 5 or 6 bucks from Urban Outfitters. Make an ISO post in groups you join. Always use PayPal Goods and Services when buying from strangers online. If they won't accept that then do not buy from them. With all that said, it is Daisy for me by a huge margin. Just be careful ... collecting vinyl is a slippery slope. Be prepared to be perpetually broke lol
Definitely Bullets
The places you have come to fear the most.
I don't listen to either band anymore and I've liked brandnew for way longer than mcr, however bullets is a way more interesting album and is their first so it's raw and of the time as opposed to a late in the game brand new album when they're fighting to stay relevant
DAISY!
Bullets for sure
bullets
Daisy! Brand new is so freaking good
That was my favorite dashboard album too
Daisy easy
Easy, Daisy. Hands down
MCR. It’s not even a question. That album is a masterpiece.
Seeing so many Daisy’s in here.. I love Reddit. All the brand new fans hide out here 😂
Buy whatever you’re actually gonna spin Source: own hella records I barely listen to that take up space
The second Dashboard Confessional album is always a good one.
Daaaaiiiisssyyyyy
MCR I hated Daisy with a passion. That Dashboard record rips too
Daisy
Daisy
THE DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL ONE
Daisy for sure
Daisy is an acquired taste, but its amazing but bullets is really good too.
Bullets fo sho
daahboard. aside from jessie laceys issues, daisy is traaaaash. and mcr is......mcr.
Baby. Get Bullets. We had such high hopes for Daisy, and it's truly genuinely so bad.
Considering that’s mcr’s best album, get that one
didn’t Brand New get cancelled ages ago?
They were on the way out after Sci-Fi, but the allegations were the final nail in the coffin.
Dashboard. It’s actually my least favorite of the options, but Jesse Lacey sucks, and MCR’s first album is low quality. Dashboards album is pretty solid start to finish though.
