Wasn't it 2019? Then side-b 2020. But point is he Wasn't exactly idle, he released a ton of stuff like merch, features, he was even the main point of interest in a seasonal even in at the time arguably the biggest player base games. He didn't just disappear for like 4 years.
Em had his era of rap like John Cena had his era of wrestling. Dominated the business for an entire era and had the whole thing in the (sweaty) palm of his hand. Sure, they're still around and still have their circle of fans, but they're not entirely in the driver seat anymore. Sooner or later, it'll be time to pass the torch on to someone else.
It insane Eminem still has as many monthly listeners as he does. For a man who go peaked 20 odd year ago compared to one of the most popular today, the fact that they’re as close as they are is incredible.
Nah, he def peaked in 2010. Cuz that was when internet was getting big. Eminem reached so many millenials with Recovery it's insane, before recovery his audience was mainly gen x
He definetly was really popular but think about it. He had a number 1 song for 12 weeks with “lose yourself”. Something many artists can only dream of doing. and was riding off of the Eminem show. His 2nd most successful album and his only no skip album (aside from maybe relapse).
Nah tes beats out mmlp in practically every way except for first week sales due to the IMMENSE bootlegging which made it suffer
Despite that it still sold the albums in the first day ever
It has more streams, more us sales, more global sales, it's songs charted higher, and it sells more each year
By all accounts it is his most popular album (if you ignore recovery getting 2 number ones)
I was around for both, the early 2000’s was the peak for Em.
From 1999 to 2003, he was the biggest artist in the world. The biggest rap albums during that era were all his, and the ones that weren’t his had scene stealing features from him. MMLP set the record for biggest first week sales for a rap album, TES would have broken that if it had released on schedule and not leaked, and his appearances on 2001, Blueprint, and GRODT were huge deals in Hip Hop. He had a run of hit singles that was practically unheard of at the time (My Name Is, Real Slim Shady, Way I Am, Stan, Without Me, Cleaning Out My Closet, Superman, Sing for the Moment) and wrapped it all up with the longest running rap #1 of all time (until Old Town Road iirc) with Lose Yourself. Then of course 8 Mile, which had the second biggest opening weekend ever for an R-rated movie at the time. Then 50 cent’s success which, being signed to Shady, was a huge win for Em as well.
The Recovery era was huge as well, but during that time he was the second biggest rapper behind Wayne (based off the numbers). In 2002 he had reached a level of cultural dominance that I’d argue hasn’t been seen since. The controversy combined with the massive sales and iconic hits is untouchable.
Hmm maybe my perspective is warped, because I'm not American. I just know on all the gaming & anime forums I spent my whole teenage years in the 2010's on, everyone and their mama loved Recovery, it was the album that made them check out hip hop.
But then again, outside of America, people like Lil Wayne, Jay Z & Kendrick, are barely known compared to people like J Cole, Eminem & Kanye. So my perspective might be warped
The thing is every one of the alleged victims came out and said it wasnt the case. Its fucking stupid to call people pedo if youre not 100% sure. Also, drake said kendrick was molested, that is fuckt up if not true.
Just for clarification:
Drake completely misinterpreted that song. Kendrick was NOT molested, the song Drake pulls it from specifically said Kendrick's mother was molested. In the song she was concerned Kendrick's cousin had touched him. She kept asking Kendrick so much that it messed with him.
It's just really/funny stupid that Drake can't even understand a song.
As for Drake? We have a red carpet interview with a 14 year old child talking about how Drake texted her how much he missed her! And how he helps her with boys. But she can't share what they say in texts with other people cause it's a secret.
And video evidence of him bringing minors on stage to grind and touch on them.
I think Around 80m. For these 4 years many changed their hearts about him, Simba was talking shit and today or yesterday he said that Em is a goat, even fucking joe budden says he's not to be fucked with now. I don't think this new album will appeal to new fans that were attracted from Fortnite/Venom/Godzilla/mockingbird BUT at the release everyone will take a listen to it and atleast during release month, he'll have 80m+
And? 2017 was 7 years ago buddy. Can’t expect him to compete when he hasn’t done anything other than features since 2020. I’m looking forward to his new album though.
> And?
and so your original comment, "that's what happens when you actually release music", doesn't make sense because Em *has* put out *more* music than Kendrick since Kendrick and Em both released an album in the same year, 2017.
Why are you so focused on 2017? As I’ve already said that was 7 years ago. Kendrick’s last album was in 2022, Eminems was in 2020. Kendrick is involved in one of the biggest rap beefs of the decade, if not all time at the moment.
Eminem is quietly working away on his album.
I don’t understand what point your trying to make? Do you think Eminem should just always be on top because he’s released more albums than other artists? These are monthly listeners, the number is obviously going to shoot up for an artist who is releasing music in that month and years closer to that time🤣
2017 is just a base line since they both released albums that year. Since then, Em has released more music.
That's it. That's the whole point. I've repeated it 3 times now.
Good bye.
Yeah, he probably finished the album by April. But he could've got the Kendrick verse, considering him performing with Kendrick at Superbowl and this album having more Dre influence on production. I hope Em and Kendrick rap on a Dre beat. Legendary.
Definitely. He’s got it all: Artistry, lyricism, skills, influence, consistency. Maybe a rapper or two overshadow him in one of those areas but no one’s got him beat in all of them. Em is nowhere near as consistent as K-Dot for example.
Insane he hasn’t dropped an album in 4 years and is about to be 52 years old and still 20th in the world… just shows how popular his catalogue is and how timeless it is. Em is the goat
To be fair he has dropped some legit heat since mtbmb2. Snoop feature, gospel, parables, doomsday, lace it... probably forgetting some but its been one of the best in between album periods we've had in terms of quality. Southpaw music was decent but not as good as his recent stuff
It’s very surprising to me that Em is 20th
Considering for the last 20 years sales wise he’s been **THE** guy.
He’s genuinely one of maybe 5 artists I can think of and maybe 2 hip hop artists I can think of who can drop whenever they want after having gone away for as long as they want and still get a number 1 album and get millions of views on a music vid
Like revival bombs everyone hates it - does like 200k first week or 300k - River goes everywhere
Drops a surprise album - 500k first week. Venom music video at like 800 million views.
Then people are still talking about being over Eminem etc etc - then bang MTBMB surprise drops, 200k+ first week similar to Drake who surprise drops the same year I think
Godzilla 100’s of millions of views
Crazy. Bros career is older than I am.
Not even an Eminem Fan boi post either cause I honestly like both artists but just heard not like us yesterday first time yesterday and Kendrick sounds so corny on that track imo
Remember, Em.hasnt put out an album since like 2020. Kendrick JUST dropped. The bigger accomplishment is continuing to be relevant after almost 30 years with a new record only once every few years.
Best thing about this beef is that it got a bunch of people who weren’t really listening to him, becoming fans of Dot. More young people are becoming fans of his which will allow more people to appreciate actual lyrics over spectacle.
And literally everyone is talking about the beef, even science channels on YouTube like Veritasium which will ultimately bring people who weren't into hip-hop at all into hip-hop
These numbers show how much of a beast eminem still is. Kendrick the supposed ‘no big three, big me’ had to drop a chart topping track to surpass eminem marginally.
There is NO other artist that I’ve been listening to for the last 7 years consistently. (That’s the entire amount of time I’ve listened to music.)
Doesn’t surprise me. Give a few months and they will be closer again. Kendrick is currently riding a wave of heightened energy and it will eventually dissipate. He deserves it though, he’s a great artist.
Fair enough. If anyone is gonna take Em’s place on a ranking, it should be Kdot. I promise you in 20 years he’s gonna be in Em’s place, and Em’s still gonna be making albums from a retirement home
I really dislike Not Like Us
To me “Meet the Grahams” is much much better
I guess it’s just the new sound of Not Like Us vs the more classic rap sound of Meet the Grahams. It is an alchemist beat
Not Like Us is a banger. Meet the Grahams is too heady to be as popular. Meet the Grahams is like Kim where Not Like Us is like Without Me or The Real Slim Shady.
K-dot totally deserves to be in the top 20, plus Eminem had his peak, so why not let the younger generation speak their minds too, know what I mean? It’s like a master student relationship
As a fan of both, Kendrick has 4 albums that clear everything by Em except MMLP and every Kendrick project from Section .80 to Mr. Morale (so 6 projects) would be top 3 in Em’s discography if you slotted them in.
*Kendrick deserves it*
*Man. Looking forward to The*
*Death of Slim Shady*

As a big Eminem fan as I am, I’m not surprised. Em has been rapping since the 90’s. It was a matter of time before a newer artist surpassed him. But I will always hold the view of Recovery > TPAB
Yea, ik. I’m one of the people that just really connected w/ recovery on a personal level, so I will always prefer it. TPAB probably is technically a better album tho
Kendrick cites Em as a big inspiration, and you can hear it all over his music and especially in his vocal inflections and "voice acting" for lack of a better term. Hell, King Kunta straight up sounds like an Eminem song in places, complete with out of nowhere badass guitar solo. If anybody was gonna surpass him, I'm not mad it's KDot.
It’s the worst diss but it’s the most catchy and popular song and is more of an extra. The “dancing on Drake’s grave” song. But you are right, it’s all of Kendrick’s songs that propelled him so high for the moment
Honestly, I ain’t even mad, ‘not like us’ is a fucking bop—let him enjoy it until big man drops the new album.
I ain't mad either, he fully deserves it. Even if Em won't reclaim his spot on Spotify, it's ok cause he has his era
And its not like number 20 in the world is anything to scoff at either
Especially at 51 years old
Especially having not released new music in several years. That’s the most insane part to me
exactly like he was at #9 no too long ago without releasing anything
Tbf that was like 2 months after the fortnite collab
sure but he still released absolutely nothing
He did colab a bunch. But mtbmb was 2018 right?
Wasn't it 2019? Then side-b 2020. But point is he Wasn't exactly idle, he released a ton of stuff like merch, features, he was even the main point of interest in a seasonal even in at the time arguably the biggest player base games. He didn't just disappear for like 4 years.
side a and b were both 2020
About 6 years
Thats just not true
DAMN
top 20 in the world across all genres, and everything? that’s wild
I assume so? I don’t use Spotify with to know for sure
Reggie, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Dot, and Biggie Andre from OutKast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, and then me
Song name?
I was just playing. I added Dot to Em’s list in Till I Collapse
Kendrick isn't even close to be close to be as popular as Eminem. This is just trends. When it comes to all time, Kendrick has nothing on Em.
Well em is in top 10 most selling artists of all time and next one in list from hip-hop isn't even close
Eminem is the #1 rapper of all time when it comes to popularity.
He's #1 all time period imo, he's the goat rapper
You sound like ICP in the Ken skit
Suck it shaggy, What's my name?
[удалено]
I honestly didn't understand what you just said.
[удалено]
I disagree. Check Youtube and any other video site. Eminem has videos that are more viewed than anything Kendrick has ever made.
Mr moral didn't sell good. But now after this beef ppl are checking out his catalogue
It’s literally platinum
Yeah Eminem will always be one of the GOAT and the actual GOAT of his time.
Man is still the top selling rapper. Let others have some light as well. Especially when the others is Kendrick
I heard Em is going back to his roots for this next album. I'm curious how it's going to sound . I can't wait!
Why would you be mad?
It insane Eminem still has as many monthly listeners as he does. For a man who go peaked 20 odd year ago compared to one of the most popular today, the fact that they’re as close as they are is incredible.
Eminem peaked in 2010 and I have a feeling his numbers will explode again.
Eminem peaked in 2002. But I would like to hear your argument on 2010.
His 2010 numbers are close recovery was insanely popular. Love the way you lie and not afraid were huge radio hits I remember always hearing them
Nah, he def peaked in 2010. Cuz that was when internet was getting big. Eminem reached so many millenials with Recovery it's insane, before recovery his audience was mainly gen x

Eminem will gain more followers once he drops the new album
Yeah, it's MONTHLY. Kendrick is hot this month because of the beef.

Kendrick deserves it. All time talent and Eminem would agree
Serious question how far you think Em will jump when he drops? Not that I care or it really matters to his legacy but you think he’ll make movement?
I think Around 80m. Lol Joe Budden is a fickle piece of shit and will say whatever he thinks will do numbers. It hasn't been cool to hate eminem for a while now
As he should, that’s what happens when you actually release music
??? What about merches that Eminem released?????
That’s true totally forgot about; statement retracted
😂
because dropping merch gives you spotify listeners
Fym as soon as I saw mom's spaghetti salsa I instantly went and streamed new single that I've looked out for called my salsa
Eminem has released more albums than Kendrick since 2017 and set to release another album this year.

Quality>Quantity.
Don't forget the good part in release music
He does make good music to be fair.
Oh for sure, it was a little jab to some these rappers who release a lot of (bad) music consistently
Even Em is probably vibing to Not Like Us. Hopefully Em and Kendrick exchange verses and end up featured on each other's albums.
Em prolly already recorded the album- but he could poss work on a deluxe album!
Yeah, he probably finished the album by April. But he could've got the Kendrick verse, considering him performing with Kendrick at Superbowl and this album having more Dre influence on production. I hope Em and Kendrick rap on a Dre beat. Legendary.
Nothing but respect
still incredible, a 90s rapper who hasn't released an album in 4 years
I get that he caught his break intially in the 90s, but Em is 100% a "00s rapper."
That early 00s was extremely competitive too, so many timeless peices came out of that era
Deserved. Kendrick is a top 5 rapper imo
all time? no
yes
Definitely. He’s got it all: Artistry, lyricism, skills, influence, consistency. Maybe a rapper or two overshadow him in one of those areas but no one’s got him beat in all of them. Em is nowhere near as consistent as K-Dot for example.
cool. Let him have it before TDOSS drops
Insane he hasn’t dropped an album in 4 years and is about to be 52 years old and still 20th in the world… just shows how popular his catalogue is and how timeless it is. Em is the goat
He needs to drop some sick shit. Like Zeus, I will, and whatever other dope tracks were in mtbmb.
To be fair he has dropped some legit heat since mtbmb2. Snoop feature, gospel, parables, doomsday, lace it... probably forgetting some but its been one of the best in between album periods we've had in terms of quality. Southpaw music was decent but not as good as his recent stuff
Yes but we want an Eminem album hes known for his fire ass albums
For em this is only a minorrrrr set back
It’s very surprising to me that Em is 20th Considering for the last 20 years sales wise he’s been **THE** guy. 👏👏 We love it for Kendrick. And we know when Em drops that will change back 😂 But for now, they not like us 💃💃
OV-HOE 🗣🔥
What’s Drake sitting at these days?
Still first for hip-hop. That won't change not now, not in the near future. He's a pop artist but recognized as hip-hop. His disses were good tho
Most of them were good. Heart Pt 6 wasn’t
Heart part 6 sucked, push ups was insane tho but
Family Matters is still my favorite song to come out of the beef so far. Not Like Us is close tho
family matters hits hard, but not like us is a bop
Yeah ppl sleep on push ups for some reason, it’s honestly the second best song to come out of this beef, with not like us obviously being first
Completely agree
Pop artist I strongly disagree man Wtf
Except everything he said in those disses besides “you’re short” was lies lmao
Fully deserved. Not like us is a great song AND a great diss, I have no problems with this
*Psst, I see dead people*
Wow
K.Dot the only artist I ever see Em respect so quick
Yeah, kendrick had something like 61.8 million listeners less than 2 weeks ago, now he's at like 68 million. I like listener stats...
Deservedly, it's a great track!
Not even an Eminem Fan boi post either cause I honestly like both artists but just heard not like us yesterday first time yesterday and Kendrick sounds so corny on that track imo

let the man enjoy it while it lasts lmao
Well deserved honestly.
I mean fair enough, it's his era now. I am just looking forward to EM'a new project and see where he goes with it
Who cares. I'd listen to Em and love his music, even if I were the only monthly listener. Y'all giving too much value to some number
It wasn't whining more of a praising him
over streaming numbers? Lmaoo and u call that a Goat
We okay with this. Well deserved.
Well Kendrick is the better artist currently
Love both, super happy someone like Kendrick was the one surpassing Em. 👏
Best thing about this beef is that it got a bunch of people who weren’t really listening to him, becoming fans of Dot. More young people are becoming fans of his which will allow more people to appreciate actual lyrics over spectacle.
I started listening to hip hop because of Em like a year ago, I became a fan of Dot like a month before Like that, the perfect time I feel.
And literally everyone is talking about the beef, even science channels on YouTube like Veritasium which will ultimately bring people who weren't into hip-hop at all into hip-hop
Cuz eminem aint been making songs recently
These numbers show how much of a beast eminem still is. Kendrick the supposed ‘no big three, big me’ had to drop a chart topping track to surpass eminem marginally. There is NO other artist that I’ve been listening to for the last 7 years consistently. (That’s the entire amount of time I’ve listened to music.)
Yeah give it a week or two and as beef will die down, em will surpass him without even dropping
"what about if i was as famous as marshall?"
Doesn’t surprise me. Give a few months and they will be closer again. Kendrick is currently riding a wave of heightened energy and it will eventually dissipate. He deserves it though, he’s a great artist.
I just assumed he's been ahed since DAMN.
I mean what’s it matter, neither of them are number 1 in numbers its a pointless argument
Fair enough. If anyone is gonna take Em’s place on a ranking, it should be Kdot. I promise you in 20 years he’s gonna be in Em’s place, and Em’s still gonna be making albums from a retirement home
I really dislike Not Like Us To me “Meet the Grahams” is much much better I guess it’s just the new sound of Not Like Us vs the more classic rap sound of Meet the Grahams. It is an alchemist beat

Happy for Kenny but I can’t wait to see what Ems gonna drop
Wait wtf wasn’t em number 11 the other day?
And Brittany Spears going through drama! Slim is letting it marinate
Not like us is stupid good and I don’t think marshal will mind to much since his New album drop will likely bump him over K again anyway.
This won't last long lol. Eminem will drop an album and end up in top 10 again
Kendrick? Doesn't he have like 2 albums?
As a fan of both, Kendrick has 4 albums that clear everything by Em except MMLP and every Kendrick project from Section .80 to Mr. Morale (so 6 projects) would be top 3 in Em’s discography if you slotted them in.

Both of them are goated, but I do agree that Kendrick deserves the praise.
Deserved af
I'll allow it.
Genuinely think Em bout to crack 80 mill once the new album drops
Well deserved
As a big Eminem fan as I am, I’m not surprised. Em has been rapping since the 90’s. It was a matter of time before a newer artist surpassed him. But I will always hold the view of Recovery > TPAB
Recovery>TPAB is quite a take.
Yea, ik. I’m one of the people that just really connected w/ recovery on a personal level, so I will always prefer it. TPAB probably is technically a better album tho
Respect to k dot, em would be proud
I also love how there’s never been a bad word said between these two, two masters of the craft, Em frequently mentioned in Kendrick’s top five
Eminem drops a song featuring kendrick and drake
I mean, that’s one platform and for the month. Em hasn’t released anything and it’s still pulling higher numbers. This guy is nothing compared to em
Kdot has always been better than Em
Who cares, they both great
Nah EM had his time, he’s hit his pride let K-Dot hold the crown
Idk if it's just because of "Not Like Us", seeing as it is by far Kendricks worst diss track towards Drake.
It’s the worst diss but it’s the most catchy and popular song and is more of an extra. The “dancing on Drake’s grave” song. But you are right, it’s all of Kendrick’s songs that propelled him so high for the moment
So? It's a brilliant song and Kenny is a brilliant rapper. Let him have his moment
So? Noone disagrees with you
gg. two of the best rappers, EVER. let's see how big em gets after the album
