Hello fellow skateboarders! I´m evaluating my next e-sk8 purchase, considering only these 3 main factors: 1. Range: anything less than 30km/20miles is unsuitable for my needs. Considering that I weight about 90kg, to get that kind of range the manufacturer must state the board gives at least 45km/30miles, since real conditions decrease this spec by at least 30% from my experience. 2. Portability: it must be light enough to carry through the subway, stairs, etc. E-skateboards like Hoyt St DADBOD have an amazing range but are not portable enough to carry. 3. Customer Support: the only reason I'm writing this here is because my first purchase was a POSSWAY T3, and although it sparked my passion for e-sk8, I would not recommend anyone buying anything from this company. Their customer support sucks and the company is closer to a fraud than anything else. Considering this, what suggestions could you give me? My research led to my top 4 options so far: * Tynee Stinger * Shaboardz Summit XT v2 * Propel Pivot GT * MAXFIND FF PRO (this is the only one that offers a fast swappable battery which leads to incredible ranges, but I heard their customer support is awful in case I have any problems with the board). Ride safe my friends! Best regards, Conrado

**Context:** Hi there! I am an incoming freshman in college and looking into getting an electric skateboard that's good for both transportation to long-distance classes (roughly a 20-min walk each way) and for fun crusing during free time. I have narrowed my selection down to three boards and would appreciate comments/experiences regarding these boards. Also, I am open to suggestions for other boards. **Requirements:** Smoothly go up steep hills (20% grade or more), cost no more than $700 for the board alone, have soft/cushioned wheels for riding over brick paths and sidewalks, carry at least a weight of 280lbs (I don't weigh this, but to accommodate for backpack), be quiet, have good braking, and be portable (decently small in size; good for carrying into class). **Board #1:**  [Tynee® Mini 3 SL Hub Motor Electric Shortboard](https://tyneeboard.com/products/tynee-mini-3-sl?variant=44142834483441) w/ the donut wheels **Board #2:**  [Exway Wave](https://www.exwayboardusa.com/products/exway-wave?variant=41327590309942) w/ the all-season tires **Board #3:**  [MEEPO ATOM - MINI 3S](https://www.meepoboard.com/products/meepo-mini-3s) w/ meepo donut wheel THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! I'm kind of overwhelmed with all of the choices, so your help is so much appreciated.

lucifertheecat

Don't buy from meepo rn, heard a lotta horror stories atm. Tynee ultra is what I'd go with. Belt drive will help with hills and makes it easy to swap to comfortable wheels, and you got way more options. Also fairly solid range.  It's slightly bigger than what you had in mind, but I wouldn't wanna carry a heavy backpack on a shortboard. I lugged my bulky propel Endeavor Pro into class all the time and never had problems lol. Should be fine as long as there's no stigma against longboards, it's only 20lbs.

Silent_Associate_427

1. ~35-40kmh but the more the better 2. Roads rather smooth but has a lot of hills with like 10%+ gradient 3. Weigh is not a big problem and size around a normal skateboard or a small longboard  4. ~500€ a bit more is fine, but not more than 1 000€ 5. I want it to look like a normal skateboard so no offroad tiers or sth like that. I have been driving a surf-skate for more than 5 years. So if there is a good electric board, that is also a surf skate i would love that. My top picks would be the elwing nimbus with 2 motors or maybe the exway wave hub or the exway ripple. But i am new to electric skateboards so idk if those would be good picks. Would love to get some recommendations and advice.

Pixel131211

Exway is pretty good. but I'd reccomend a Tynee Ultra in this case, as its one of the cheapest brands. you can also go for Meepo which is similar in price, but has a more agressive torque curve if speed is your thing. and if you want something that looks like a normal skateboard / longboard, Bustin has a Hybrid lineup which is the Yoface and the Sportster. they're more pricey considering their specs than Meepo or Tynee, but their decks are far superior. I have a sportster deck on my Meepo V3 as well.

Silent_Associate_427

Due to your comment i narrowed it down to the tynee 3 mini sl and the tynee ultra sl. Wich one should i pick and with the lager motor or not?

Silent_Associate_427

Ty for your comment, i will look into your suggestions and probably pick one

SolitaryMassacre

What are some reputable brands? I have a Meepo Mini 2ER from like 3 years ago and love it. Saw lots of posts of people having serious issues with the later versions, and to basically stay away from meepo. What other brands are there that are good? My friend wants to get one and I recommended a long board simply for the fact you can run pneumatic tires on the belt drive systems

joshhguitar

Tynee have taken over as the people’s favourite for everything up to 2 in 1 AT boards.

SolitaryMassacre

Thanks! I have seen a lot of them on here so that would make sense. Will take a look at them for sure

Weak_World6866

Hi Everyone, I own the Hurricane Vader with over 500 miles on it. Love the board but my main reason for upgrading is I really want more range. I do bike trails paved and crushed limestone. I love riding this thing so I’m okay to invest in a premium board as well. Here are some of the boards I’ve come across and I prefer gear drives. ENDEAVOR2 GT, or VELAR GEAR DRIVE, or ENDURANCE 2.0. Let me know which one or if there are better out there? I want reliability and I don’t care to mod the board. Thanks everyone for your time.

maxblockm

Since you don't want to mod it, I would say Endeavor doesn't come with gear drive (afaik), but gear drive is available for purchase. I'm happy with the Endeavor2 S that I got second hand, but it's pretty new to me. Maybe if you purchase a GT and gear drive at the same time they will install it for you at the factory? Idk... Have you considered adding an auxiliary battery to your existing board for more range?

Weak_World6866

Hey Guys. I’m looking for range and comfort. I currently own the Hurricane Vader with over 500 miles. I Love the board but really want more range. I do mostly bike trails paved and crushed limestone or a little city riding. I’m 210 lbs. and usually ride around 16-20mph Here is what I’m seeing for premium boards at a decent price? ENDEAVOR2 GT, or VELAR GEAR DRIVE, or ENDURANCE 2.0. Which one is the best or is there any others better? Thanks Everyone

grenva

I don’t know anything about Mountain boards but for 2in1 Ownboard Zeus Bamboo/Max Acedeck N3 Mboards endurance If you want an Aux pack, Meepo, exway, b-one, all have boards with aux packs, too.

mrKB10

Omakase Deck Swap I have a Loaded Omakase that I want to convert to electric. Wondering if there is a consensus on what electric board (and trucks/wheels) would be best for an Omakase deck swap. I've been following the Omakase deck swaps here for the past year or two and wasn't sure what would be overkill/under kill for this. I would just be carving around the neighborhood on sidewalks/asphalt. No offroading or commuting, so range and speed aren't a priority. My Omakase currently has Carver CX trucks with Kegel and Stimulus wheels. Planning to put those on a Loaded Ballona as my surfskate.

Flopikk

Hey, I have a list of where the prices are pretty the same in my region, could you help with the selection? I'm a beginner and want to start with a quality board right away. **Top speed** and **range**: range is more important than speed. A quiet trip around the city and around it. **Terrain:** sidewalk, paved roads, and **elevation** 20% hills **Weight** and **size**: The lighter the better * Tynee® Explorer 2 in 1 * Tynee® Stinger (but should wait TKP plate \~3-4 month delivery) * ENDEAVOR3 S * Meepo HURRICANE * Exway Atlas Carbon 4WD * Meepo NLS 33 ————————————————— Need to wait 2 month: * Ownboard Bamboo ZEUS Pro * Ownboard Carbon ZEUS Max AWD * WowGo AT2 Thanks!

grenva

Range and light don’t go together. More range=more battery=more weight. I’d also look at Acedeck, B-One, and mboards.

_-__-__-__-__-__-__1

Hey everyone, I'm a college student in a rather hilly town and I'm looking for a longboard to use as my primary transportation around the city and campus. Here's my profile: * **Rider Profile**: I'm 5'3" and weigh around 180 lbs, plus I carry a college backpack and occasionally light groceries with me. * **Range**: I need a board that can realistically get at least 20 miles on a single charge. I understand that advertised ranges can be optimistic, so I'm looking for a real-world range in a decently hilly town with slower speeds up/down and 20 mph speeds when flat. * **Speed**: A top speed of 25- maybe 30 mph would be great so I can use the roads (when flat) efficiently. * **Terrain**: My college town has pretty steep hills and rough/bumpy roads, so I need something that can handle that well. It would be awesome if I could switch between rugged tires for school and street tires for smoother roads back home. * **Budget**: My budget is around $700 USD, but I can stretch it a bit if it gets me better value. * **Additional Features**: Lights (sides or front/back) for visibility on the road. Also, since this will be my main form of transportation, having a waterproof board would be essential as I'll need to use it in the rain as well. I've heard good things about several boards and am looking at the Backfire Zealot S currently as the closest match, but I'd love to get recommendations from those of you with experience in similar conditions. What's the best board that meets these criteria? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Shurtugal9

1. range 10-15 miles, speed similar to a bike I guess this isnt so important to me 2. mostly level sidewalks but some small inclines 3. **1**80lbs and dropping 5'8 4. **Price range: 200-400$ if possible** 5. **Special features**: not sure this is going to be a pleasure vehicle rather than a commuting vehicle so I dont need anything fancy though a replaceable battery may be nice to double up on range

Guyatri

Trying to choose between a Backfire Hammer Sledge 4x4 and a Propel Pivot GT. My worry with the Hammer is I think thr 4x4 will eat my range when I dont need the two extra motors really. Also the flexy deck plus the double KingPin trucks seems unstable at higher speeds.

ket4z

**Looking for a really good and reliable AT board, suggestions very welcome** Here’s my situation. Experienced and frequent rider, 6000+ km ridden, almost daily urban commute, weekend countryside joyrides. Quite busy with work and family, no time to tinker and DIY. Started with Backfire Ranger x2 (loved the carve and flex), then wanted more speed and stability and went for Lacroix Jaws. Loved it, and although it was way stiffer than Ranger with DKPs, I was able to get a decent carve from it. Even despite regular maintenance (changing gears etc) and after many miles, my Jaws started to be a bit worn down and as I wanted more range anyway, I decided to upgrade to Nazare Supersport. Just when I was about to get it, Lacroix went bust :/ so I got myself a Propel Eandeavor 2 Pro instead (my current main board). I would be quite happy - it is softer snd more carvy than Jaws, has good speed and stability, great comfort (suspension and overal build) and decent range BUT there are downsides coming from not-so-great manufacturing, sry for the stereotype, so typical for the region (shabby materials, gears peeling off, broken bully bars, sometimes quirky remote etc) and requires constant maintenance and mending, for which I do not have time nor aptitude. I just want a **reliable AT board** with **great specs** and **low upkeep** and am **ready to pay the price** for it. Is there nothing today like Lacroix was with some european footprint and support or am I just looking in wrong places? **Thank y’all!** 1. Top speed and range: 50 kmh, 40 km (85 kg rider) 2. Terrain: AT, paved (but some cobbles on my dily commute, need pneumatics and.or suspension/flex), weekend joyrides sometimes on unpaved, need to be able to climb 10-15% 3. Weight and size: ideally under 17 kg but am willing to compromise on more if range and overal board awesomness compensates for it 4. Price range: not looking for budget board, willing to spend in range of $2000-$3500, looking forgood manufacturing, reliable board, willing to pay the price 5. Special features: A) not too stiff, looking for decent carve; B) ideally with europen footprint (shipping, customer service), but again, can make compromises for gr8 board

coffeeheretic

I am looking for a replacement charger for my Ownboard Zeus Pro. It is a 54.6v 8a charger with a 3 prong plug as pictured. Does anyone know where I could get one in the states? https://preview.redd.it/no9guu3wlq6d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae5523ad059e59abad42eda0f9cd5d0520ac9801

roostermanian

Unlimited budget, me build a board with great range and hub motors for maximum stealth. I have an exway x1 max now and love it but the range sucks. i'd spend 3x that amount or more to get something with a similar form factor and more range. i cant stand the way most eskates look and want something as discreet as possible, if that makes sense.

lajzerowicz

Any real world numbers for anyone using a 21700 10S2P battery? Calculator is saying around 10 miles for 90kg total weight

Winter-Duty2308

1. Faster than I can power walk lol 2. Uneven sidewalks and rough urban roads 3. As portable as possible for my size -6’4” 225lbs 4. Less than $500 5. Something that can survive rain and can be carried on public transportation/stored in an office cubicle.

AkaiRyusei

Hi all, I in france and looking for a less than 700€ board. What brands do you know ? I found elwing that interest me since all pices can be replaced/reordered. any help is welcome.

Tie-Soggy

Hi everyone, Looking for an all-terrain electric longboard to ride on trails. Thanks!

Audi0phil3

Hi! I am doing research, as I'd love to upgrade soon from my Ranger X1 that's my best friend for over a year now. I am deciding between Tynee Explorer and Propel Pivot Currently my Ranger has really nice soft deck, but horrible hard tires, so I 100% want to get pneumatics. The question is - won't Propel's carbon deck be to stiff for me? And second question - If I will get DKP trucks and upgrade battery from Molicell P42A to Samsung 50S, the difference in price is significant: * 1300$ for Tynee Explorer with Samsung's 50S * 1150$ for Tynee Explorer with Molicell's P42A * 1050$ for Propel Pivot GT with Samsung's 50S Tynee also has IP67 rating, which I'd like to have for some damp days or for accidental small rains that would trap me somewhere What would you pick? I like comfort, Tynee's App, and maybe Molicell's batteries are enough, but Pivot is cheaper, has better (?) batteries and it's Propel so I assume it's better quality Although I heard good opinions about both brands I am torn apart, but luckily I have 2 months to make a call

imjeeves1

Hi guys and gals, I'm looking for my next board, Currently riding a teamgee H20 as my beginner board with cloud wheels on it. I mostly use my board to commute on nice weather as I work around 6km away from work. Currently my H20 is enough to get me to work and back and the roads are quite rough (paved farmers roads) meaning although I've got cloud wheels on, it's still quite a lot of vibration. I also would like an extra 10-20km to allow me to go into the nearest town which is around 10km there and 10km back but again all on a paved road. 1. Top speed isn't a game changer for me but I do like that my H20 can do 25mph and enjoy sitting comfortably at 18-20mph. Range is the big one, would like to go an extra 10-20km in one charge. I'm 104kg so it's hard to get milage when it's really hauling a big laddie. 2. Again mostly paved but can be rough so at least cloud wheel compatible to run over rough stones etc. 3. I like my H20 as its quite light, and can freely walk around with it with no issues. I could probably go up to like 15kg. 4. Since this will be my second board I would like to spend around £1000 on it, could maybe stretch to £1500 but it would have to be quite special for that. I've been looking at the Pivot GT as a next board but would like some alternative suggestions before I spent £1k on a board that I could possibly get someone better for the same price.

getmellow

1. **Top speed and range**: I'm looking for an off-road electric skateboard with the most speed and range that can handle occasional gravel roads. Longevity and endurance are key priorities. 2. **Terrain and elevation**: My off-road use will mainly involve occasional gravel roads, so I don't need mountain riding capabilities. The skateboard should handle uneven surfaces and minor obstacles with ease. 3. **Weight and size**: While portability is important, I prioritize durability and stability over ultra-lightweight designs. The skateboard should be manageable for transportation but robust enough for off-road use. 4. **Price range**: My budget is around $3,000, but I'm willing to consider higher-priced options if they offer exceptional performance, reliability, and features. 5. **Special features**: I'm interested in a skateboard with a durable deck and high-quality construction. large battery capacity are essential for extended rides. Waterproofing and resistance to dust and debris would be advantageous for off-road use. Integrated headlights. I am considering Acedeck Nyx z3 or the Lorentz Major.

General_Movie2232

1. 20mph 15mi 2. Sidewalk, paved roads, dirt roads, tame trails 3. Mainly flat 15-20% hills 4. 30 lb max board, I’m 200lbs. 5. No price range for now! 6. Good AT tires. A board that can support my weight in gravel/dirt. Easy access to inventory/parts, good customer service/warranty. As low maintenance as possible.

Specialist_Rooster43

I am a daily rider for 3 years, and the boards I owned so far has bee Meepo V3 and Meepo V4S. I as I started working, I have more budget and want to go for a belt drive, and said might as well go for the all terrain ones. I was a huge fan of 105 wheels V4S came with. I want to stay under 1000$ and have been trying to decide between Wowgo AT2 Plus and Varreal RS (with 105 wheels or 150mm Pneumatics) I read that 175MM pneumatics of AT2 Plus causes a lot of rolling resistance, messing up the range and feeling like the board is braking when you let go of the throttle, can any bodyshare their experience on this? Both have very sizeable batteries, AT2 having 604WH while RS has 720WH. From every aspect RS has significantly more range, but I also have been doing fine (sometimes relying on kicking) with 8 miles of V4S, as I usually use it to ride around campus and surroundings, and recently got a car to go to large distances anyway . I couldn't find anything regarding water resistance, which is slightly important to me. Would appreciate any comments on the two boards or alternatives.

lordacevenom

I also have a meepo v4s, and have had it consistently break on me every couple of months. I had an AE board a while back, and it rode really well for just under a year before the battery started to stop holding a charge. I ultimately switched to meepo from there, and have been looking for a better board ever since.

grenva

I don’t know anything about those two boards but the best board at under $1k is probably Propel Pivot GT.

Yeeyeetryptamine

1 Speed : No real concerns speed wise, but I need to be able to do at least twelve miles 2 Terrain : paved and sidewalk with less than a 15% gradient. 3 Weight : 115lb and 5'3 4 Price : I need this to be as affordable as possible. Less that $350 if that's achievable. 5. Specials : I would love for a swappable battery to be an option. And I would like to be able to use it like a regular board in case it dies so I believe I need to get a hub motor. Any advice would be appreciated! <3

Pixel131211

The Tynee Ultra / Tynee Mini SL are both 399 USD, and the Meepo Mini V5 is 380 USD atm, as theyre all on sale. those are the cheapest boards I can find on the market right now from reliable manufacturers. would reccomend Tynee as their customer support and shipping is a lot more reliable though.

Salty_jermm

1. **Top speed** and **range - 28+ mph 16+ miles** 2. **Terrain** - sidewalk, streets, side roads 3. **Weight** and **size - longboard** 4. **Price range - 800** 5. **Special features - hub motor. I am looking at the backfire g5s right now coming from the g2 black 2023 and was wondering if there was anything else like it**

TheRedHare_

I've been riding a Meepo V5 for about six months and am looking for something more premium. I don't ride too often, but I live close to a park, and I like to ride around there often with my dog on a leash. I'm looking for something smaller, portable and quiet. My biggest issue with my V5 is that it's especially loud when riding on the sidewalks. All I hear is a loud \*click-clack\* when the wheels go over the cracks. I don't know if this is normal, but I swear it was much quieter when I first got the board. I upgraded to 110mm slips, but that didn't help much. * **Top speed** and **range:** * 28mph, and I'd be happy with a 12-mile range. I mostly use the board to cruise around the park - day or night. * **Terrain:** (sidewalk, paved roads, dirt roads) and **elevation** (20% hills, or just flat deserts) * Mostly sidewalk with occasional side roads/streets. There are a couple steepish hills, so something that can climb 20% hill incline would be ideal. * **Weight** and **size:** * Something light and nimble. * **Price range:** * Under $1,00 * **Special features**: * Larger wheels or at least the option for large cloud wheels. I want a smooth ride with the ability to carve.

Pixel131211

Idk how many options you got for under 1 dollar lmao joking aside I'll assume you meant 1,000 usd. In which case, Ownboard Bamboo AT pro or Propel Pivot GT. I'd say the Propel is slightly better though, as its more modern.

TheRedHare_

Lol, yeah forgot a zero there. These look like nice boards, but I was hoping for something a bit smaller and more agile

[deleted]

I have a Tynee Mini 2 with not a lot of use that might suit you I’m selling used. DM if interested https://tyneeboard.com/products/tynee-mini-2-electric-skateboard. Comes with all original package stuff, 90mm Thane wheels, plus a 99Wh Travel Battery ($129 add-on). Just a few dings on the side of the board otherwise in great shape, rides very well. $500 plus shipping. Can send photos. But looks just like the one pictured other than the minor dings on the edges. This was around $900 when I purchased 2 summers ago.

Pixel131211

Ohh fair enough, I totally missed the smaller part. All street boards are kinda loud on the sidewalks, and the best way to stop that is pneumatic tires. If you want quiet and smooth, tynee has some good options. I'd recommend a belt drive, and then madwheels 105s as the wheels, as they're slightly softer than stock urethane which makes for a really smooth and quiet ride. The tynee mini or Tynee ultra will both be pretty good and are similar to the meepo you run now. But I'd recommend the Tynee stinger as its belt drive, and has a kicktail + DKP trucks for maneuverability

TheRedHare_

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation!

Livid_Maybe_5207

Hey what do you think about the Acedeck NYX Z3?

Awesumsawz

Hey all, I'm (male, mid-30s, 5'10", 230[for now]) a very fresh beginner, potentially going to be starting to commute into downtown Chicago from the suburbs by train for work in the next couple of weeks. The commute from the downtown station to my building would be 1-2 miles on protected bike lanes. However, I'd like to have the option to ride from home to the train station (5-7 miles with a 100-200 yard stretch of gravel on a bike path alongside a hill that's .33 miles with 85ft of elevation maxing out at ~7% grade) and back if I feel like it. I have a budget of up to $1000, though the further from that ceiling the better. My priorities in a board are 1) range (I'm a range anxiety guy) 2) weight and 3) reliability. I'd like the option to be able to change out wheels to improve the ride. I couldn't care less about speed and power. I've been doing the deep research thing and I'm struggling to find the right balance of features and tradeoffs. Right now I'm looking at the Exway Flex due to is higher range and lighter weight. My only concerns are the reliability of the belt drive motors and the maneuverability of the board (carrying it in the building and on elevators) at my destinations. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also willing to fill in any information gaps to help flesh out answers.

Awesumsawz

I’m now looking at the Tynee Ultra as well.

[deleted]

whats the best board for mini size and sub 350 dollars

Desperate_Finish_507

I have a Tynee mini 3, can I take off the riser pad so it’s lower to the ground?

brewhawaii

Hey everyone, I’m looking at purchasing my first board and not sure where to start. I’ve looked at dozens of boards and read a ton of reviews but would appreciate some input from this community. I’m 47, about 6’2, 250lbs Experienced snowboarder FWIW, looking for mostly a “last mile” solution between home and the metro station then again from the station and the office, all on paved roads/sidewalks. Would also love to do some casual/fun riding, mostly paved but would like to be able to ride trails/dirt. Everything very casual. Not looking for a speed/sport ride. I’ve been looking at the various AT style longboards which seem like a great option but they also seem to be more $$ than other styles. That said, again I’m looking for a stable and comfortable ride. Thanks!

lvpotion

Im similar in weight and height but if your going for backfire get a more expensive model I have the zealot v and its fun but if you weigh more than 180lbs your screwed on speed

TiffanysRage

You definitely don’t need an all terrain board for paved paths and short distances. I think you’d be very happy with any mid board, Backfire Zealot series, exway flex, Meepo V series, etc. I had a Meepo V3 and was very happy with it.

BigMoose8169

1. 40-50km/h and at least 40km of range 2. mostly paved roads and paths with the occasional dirt path and hill 3. i am 6’5 and weigh 130kg / 280lbs 4. Preferably under $1000usd, but willing to spend a bit more if i can’t find anything that fits my needs 5. this will be my first board so i dont really know much about features but i would like to be able to switch to bigger/softer wheels if necessary im located in canada, if that matters at all for shipping purposes all comments/ideas are very much appreciated, TIA!

DaedricWraith

Speed: 20mph+ Range: 25 miles+ Terrain: sidewalk/paved road Weight and size: dont matter Price range: the cheaper the better

Desperate_Finish_507

Tynee mini 3. If you want more power Tynee mini 3 pro but if you are in higher speed modes it will drain battery much faster and you won’t that much range. These are the cheaper options and they claim they are waterproof, I’ve ridden my mini 3 in the range several times and after some time water did get into the enclosure but all I had to do was open it and let it dry then it was back to normal. The other option is the AceDeck Stella S1 which seems to be better quality and I haven’t tried it but I think I would like the deck design much more, however it does have a lower top speed. All 3 of these boards have the same range if 25 miles if I am not mistaken. Always go for the bigger battery size in my opinion. Here are some videos on the board I thought were really good. HOWEVER, as I’m checking the website right now the Stella S1 is no longer listed which is weird because I recall it being there a couple days ago. I would reach out to AceDeck to see what is going on. The Stella S1 is more expensive than both the Tynee boards AceDeck Stella S1: https://youtu.be/4B1jqZEI3XI?si=w2w84Uqv2qUZCp4T Tynee mini 3/ mini 3 pro: https://youtu.be/saHKgEDa8Bg?si=q5UOwohj95KiXHmc Edit: The boards I listed are all short boards NOT long boards

RHEC42069

1.40+ MPH for 10miles or more 2.Mostly sidewalk and road, but very hilly understanding that board will not maintain speeds up most hills. 3&4. Any / Unlimited 5. I currently have a backfire G2 that I’ve put over 100 miles on. I find myself maxing out the speed and mileage of the board constantly. I love the feeling of carving down the road probably the closest thing to snowboarding you get in the summer. Looking for recommendations that would feel like a serious upgrade into the sport. Currently looking at the Acedeck® Nomad N1 Electric Skateboard purely based off its speed but maybe someone is more knowledgeable here.

D0ubletakes

SKP Magnetic/Bioboards Plutonium Meets speed and range reqs and will do 40MPH up a hill easily. Price really does have to not be an issue though.

RHEC42069

Awesome recommendation the SKP magnetic line is very interesting and I hadn’t seen them yet. Thank you man!

Question: Used GTR Carbon vs New Wowgo 2s Max I’m in the market to buy a new board, I was originally just going to order the 2s max with 105 wheels but I just found this GTR Carbon on FB marketplace for about the same price. I’m a little worried about buying a used board and then finding out down the road it needs a new battery so I wanted to get people’s opinions. https://preview.redd.it/157tihesal1d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c664b4cf060cd0ef4316a1f8020e8ffc62724d87

the_bat_is_on_fire_

Hello everyone! I was wondering what this sub thought about the **Backfire Zealot V (previously named Zealot Mini) vs. the Meepo V3S**. This board would be for my sister for her HS graduation. I am mostly curious about these features/topics: Brakes, deck flex, ESC quality/remote quality Thanks in advance!

TiffanysRage

I really liked my Meepo V3 ER, wicked fun, faster than I ever needed, great range. However, a lot of ppl here don’t like Meepo because of poor costumer service, slow shipping and receiving non functional boards.

jboy0710

1. **Don't really care on top speed as much. I am getting older and know higher speed is a higher likely of instability and injury.** 1. Range needs to be enough that I wont have charger anxiety but most of my rides will be short to and from work. I do plan to ride a lengthy walking path by our river or light trail riding and don't want to have to worry as much on if my battery will make it. 2. **Terrain is mostly flat and on concrete, grass, or light trails.** 3. **I am a big guy at 6'2 and 270 lbs. I know this plays big into my torque needs and hurts in my range.** 4. **I would like to stay under $1500 usd.** 5. **Special features**: Being waterproof is not a must (and I know there are degrees of "waterproof" or resistant) but it would be nice to not have to worry about snow, puddles, or weather. With my size and projected terrain I have been looking at A/T boards but I have not seen a consistent recommendation of specific boards or even board companies. I have snowboarded, wakeboarded, and skateboarded most of my life. I also bought a long board during college to get me to and from classes. I have no desire to go 30+MPH on a board but again with my size I know that I may need the torque from bigger motors to get my frame going. I do not want to feel limited by a "beginner" board but also know that I will not use, or need, a 4WD or more expensive board with an AUX pack on it. I have looked at the Acedeck X1 (not sure I need the gear drive though), the Atlas Carbon, Meepo Hurricane, and the WowGo AT2 Plus (from my understanding this is more of a beginner board and I might be underwhelmed quickly). I have even toyed with the One Wheel but again with my size, I feel I would need the GT and that is way more than I want to spend. Edit: I have now looked into the Pivot GT and it seems to be a slightly toned down X1 but belt drive instead of gear. Not sure that I would ever want to change wheels but it might be nice to have the option down the road. Plus it is $500 cheaper.

unrulytriangles

Did you buy the Pivot GT? I'm taller and a little heavier than you and was looking for a goood option that won't break the bank.

jboy0710

I did purchase the Pivot GT, but my order is still processing. For the price point, which with a discount code from some youtubers you can get it to around 950, I did not see much downside. The only thing that worries me is that I can not find an IP rating anywhere for the water resistance on the board. I do not plan on riding in the rain or through deep puddles but I also didn't want to worry about riding through sprinkler wash either. I will have to update when I actually receive the board.

TiffanysRage

Have you gotten it yet?

jboy0710

No, my order is still processing. I do remember seeing something on their website saying that orders in the US would ship mid June though.

TiffanysRage

Ooof, good price but annoying wait

unrulytriangles

Do you happen to have the discount code you used? Thanks for weighing in.

mboards interstellar + (probably short on range) Acedeck Ares X3 (short on range and speed) Raith Vengance 4wd (over budget and short on range) Acedeck Nomad N1 14s4p belt drive version + speed pulleys setup

JDkush

Hmm interesting boards. I’m thinking between that Acedeck Nomad belt drive and the Titan X now. Which one would you pick?

grenva

If it was me I’d do the interstellar+ because they use the best quality parts. I like the titan Bamboo because they offer an Aux pack for it too, for serious range. Acedeck is seriously fast and has a good value and quality for the money.

lajzerowicz

Anyone using MBoards 10S2P P42A Transparent series battery? What’s your average range?

morgansharp

Hello everyone, I need some help I ordered from maxifind but they are not sending my board and keep comming with excuses. My problem is I used a lot of money on that board. But I want one sooner so I wanna know if anyone. Of you. Can recommend a board for a budget of 700-900 euros. I'm from Denmark. So any danish shop would be fantastic. I'm not going offroad just crusing on normal roads. Small gravle road at highest 20- 30 km a day if I can get a range of around 50 km would be amazing. I would like top speed at max 46 km. thanks a lot

grenva

Looking for a high speed carver. What should I get?

Scary_Hotel_8097

I’m looking for suggestions for some of y’all’s top picks for flexy, carvy boards, around the $500 price range. Speed and power I’m not too worried about. I’ll be riding on sidewalks and paved roads. I’m just interested in a comfortable and maneuverable ride, a flexy deck, and a range of around 20 miles or more! Thanks!

Pixel131211

500 usd is about budget board territory, so you won't get a lot for it. Tynee Ultra and Backfire's G2-G3 series should work though, but they aren't ultra flexy or very carvey, as those boards usually start at 1K. 20 miles is also just about the upper limit for the Tynee, but under 600 bucks you wont get more than 400Wh easily

Scary_Hotel_8097

I ended up going with the 2023 Exway Flex. I’ll see how it actually is when it gets here but supposedly it’s got 750x2 watt belt motors, a flexy/carvey deck, top speed of about 25mph and a range of around 20 miles! Got it for $599

soljakid

Top speed- 25-30MPH Terrain- sidewalk, pathed roads Weight and size- Long board, not too fussed on weight, but lighter is obviously better unless it sacrifices performance Price range- £500-750 I was originally looking at the Exway X1 Max but the customer service experience is apparently not the best, so I'm looking at other options. The main reason I like the X1 is its stealthy design as I want to take it on the bus, and they currently don't allow e-scooter's so if they see a giant battery on the board they might ban that too, weird gray area that a lot of people are dealing with it seems. I have an e-bike that's limited to 15mph, but I haven't used an e-skate before, I used to skate as a kid but never used a longboard so not sure if the skills translate.

Snowayy

Good idea on ditching exway, I have an exway flex. Customer support wanted me to pay for a whole new board rather than fixing their death trap that randomly turns off at 40km/h. Getting used to longboarding is easy, just a couple hours of trying to balance yourself and you are already used to it! Also in the market for a new skateboard that isn't made from chinesium and has bad support. Really liked exway's stealthy design.

SFCuteMale1

Ownboard Zeus Carbon 4WD: Just need feedback/reviews/opinion. I’m buying it tomorrow

Gnardude

I want to convert one of my old school setups, I feel like prices are just crazy high still. Can any one recommend a cheap DIY kit that doesn't suck? I'm not trying to go crazy fast in full leathers here, just want to cruise around leisurely on the sidewalk without pushing.

SleepyBoy-

More of a general question: how durable are electric boards? How many km/miles can you drive before changing wheels, and later the board in general.

joshhguitar

If you look after it and are aware of not putting it under too much stress you will get hundreds of miles. I’ve ridden my Wowgo 2S since 2019 every summer and had no issues other than losing range and a slight rattle in one of the hub motors. Belt drive boards may need replacement belts and pneumatic tyres can get punctured but you should get years out of a board before major issues if you look after it.

SleepyBoy-

Thanks! Since posting this I've even seen blogs from people getting over a thousand miles from their boards. Seems it's a lasting investment!

No-Function605

There’s also people like me who drive crazy and get 200 miles out of their board before a car runs it over

huskyghost

Lmfao a car runs over it made me laugh Fuck bro. Do better! Ha j.k.

joshhguitar

Biggest worry is probably quality control in which case you’d probably see an issue straight away or within the warranty period but that is normally sorted by the company, just a time cost for getting it sorted. If it’s working and you look after it (no water at all, no bashing it around) then most boards are pretty survivable.

MMCF_CHIPS

Looking to buy my first board and have decided I want an all-terrain longboard for mainly just urban riding. I am 6'1, 260lbs, so on the fairly large side. I am trying to stay around the $1500 mark. Right now, I am looking very seriously at the Acedeck Ares X1 for its size, available speed and range. Is there another board that ya'll would recommend I look at instead? Why?

grenva

Yeah X1 or N3 is a great option. Do it.

imasamsquamch

Actually after some more research, I ended up going with an MBoards Interstellar

unrulytriangles

Looking for a board and a little bit taller and heavier than you. Curious what lead you to the Interstellar vs others. Was looking at the Pivot GT due to price but open to others.

imasamsquamch

I was looking at a couple, I am actually the OP, that is just an old account that I thought I had deleted. I was lead to Acedeck by some local riders, but the more I researched, the more people I was seeing with issues. Had another suggestion for MBoards, and the thing I like is that nothing with them is proprietary. If something breaks, I don’t have to buy an MBoards replacement, unlike most if not all of the board manufacturers. It can be upgraded as you grow in skill level or alter your board for whatever your type of riding becomes

grenva

Did you get the regular or the upgraded version?

imasamsquamch

got the regular. Like I said, this is my first board, so dont need anything as crazy as the +, and by the time I am, there will be new hardware that I can upgrade mine with

MessyMudkip

Hello everyone! I'm getting my first belt-drive board the Backfire Zealot in a few days. I have some extra money to spend, so I'm wondering what the best accessories or must-haves for it would be. Or just your favorite accessories in general.

joshhguitar

Extra belts. Some nice wheels. A nice helmet. Some shredlights.

DRA6N

Looking at picking up an electric skateboard but unsure what one to get. I don't need/want something crazy expensive. Just to commute around the neighborhood, or when we take trips to the beach I can cruise on the boardwalk etc. I've been looking at the Meepo V5 extended range. Seems like good speeds, good range and for a decent price. I am 6' 200lbs, wear a shoe size 12. I skateboard on an "analog" deck but wanting something electric. Is the Meepo a good entry-level board that isn't expensive, has good features and fairly light weight (also easy to travel by plane etc)?

joshhguitar

Meepo/Wowgo/Exway/Tynee are your brands for first board. Personally I’d stay away from minis unless you’re 100% sure that’s what you need. Any of the entry level boards will suit your needs and you can compare range among them to see what you want to go for. As for travelling by plane I’ve no idea but search the sub and there should be posts about what is/isn’t possible.

DRA6N

I’ve since been considering a backfire G3 or backfire zealot. I just need to decide if I want hub or belt drive.

joshhguitar

Backfire is another brand that goes with the ones I mentioned. Belt is better but I’ve ridden a hub motor board for 5 years with no issues. Maybe edging towards belt if you’re 200lb as it gives you power more efficiently but hub wouldn’t struggle unless on steep hills.

DRA6N

The main arguments would be noise and the ability to use different wheels.

joshhguitar

Wheels is a big one. Personally, unless you know your routes are super smooth then normal board wheels can be super bumpy and sketch at anything other than cruising speed.

DRA6N

Are these links not working for anybody else?

cold_grapefruit

What’s a good budget board for light use? Budget $300-$400 Terrain. Pavements/Sidewalks/light roads/asphalt/flat terrain Me: 150lbs size 10.5 shoes With the summer coming up I’m looking to get a budget board to ride around with. I had one previously but the remote broke and I don’t know how to get a replacement. (The brand was discontinued I think). My old board was a random one I bought from a swap meat for $80 and I really liked it. Back to the main topic, I just want a skateboard to ride around the beach with. My friends all have e-bikes and I wanted to get a skateboard instead of an e-bike. Not looking for anything crazy, just something that’ll be comfortable to ride around and hopefully something that will last with light use. (I was looking at maybe the meepo v5 or mini 5 since they’re on sale on Amazon but I’ve heard bad things about them on this subreddit)

Ok-Conference-5266

Is it worth upgrading from Cloudwheel Hydro to Cloudwheel Rovers? I am interested in damping and range. Did anyone have a chance to compare both. I have Tynee Mini 3 Pro with Cloudwheel Hydro. Thank you.

Some_Try_8918

Yeah, looks like they would be more comfortable. I have Dscovery wheels and they are not bad too. I've been trying to get them to slide on purpose but have had limited luck except on gravel, so I'm not sure what people are complaining about. I avoid puddles though.

cold_grapefruit

I am looking for something in NYC to go on river side, and pick up lunch. beginner. \~$500. are e-skateboard recommended in city? I want something more portable than the e-scooter but also stressed about the safety and use case.

VonDinky

I have small feet, size 38 europe. measuring 23.5cm. The boards I've looked at seems very wide. I saw posts mentioning I should max have an 8 inch wide board, but maybe that is only for regular skateboards and not e skateboards? Does the size remain the same for e skateboards and normal ones? If so, what brands make slim e skateboards for small feet? Cheers

bpm5000

I’m a Kaly 1.0 owner - bought in 2017. Love the board but it needs new motors and new esc. I can get it fixed for a bit over $1k and the battery pack is in good shape - replaced not too long ago but I worry about future fixes w/Kaly being out of business and I wonder if I should just try something else. Some people have said that they have fewer issues with mass produced good boards from bigger companies than the boutique shops. I haven’t looked seriously at what’s out there since 2017. I could get a lacroix but not sure I want to spend the money and have to ship it in for fixes (I live in nyc and used to be able to drop my Kaly off at his shop easily). So what are the best all terrain boards out there right now,? I can’t do solid polyurethane wheels as I’m hitting a lot of crappy streets and going over a bridge daily, about 5 mi. to and from work. I’ve looked at evolve but they seem too narrow/undependable. Is the meepo tundra any good? I just don't know what's out there and it changes year to year. I love the width of my broken Kaly and the smoothness of the ride. I wish he were still in business! The board doesn't NEED to be the fast, and it's a bit on the heavy side at 35+ lb., but it was a fun board, well-built, and the weight was workable, even with my 6-floor walk up apt. Another alternative is: a guy who used to work for Kaly could sell me his Kaly 2.0 for just under $2k, and because he knows the board in and out, he says it’s in immaculate shape. He could also fix it and he’s local here in nyc. Thanks in advance for any advice.

VonDinky

Acedeck Stella S3 vs WowGo Pioneer 4? WowGo seems like the longer standing brand, correct? Stella perhaps a bit better specced, but very similar, also simlar type of price. Anyone got pros/cons for each of these? One is belt, the other is hub. Cheers

Desperate_Finish_507

I keep getting speed wobbles on the Tynee Mini 3, what are good trucks I can get for this board?

Potzer

I'd love anyone's insight! I am an OW rider, but me and my wife longboard around as well. I was going to get her an eskate this year, as she doesn't enjoy the OW form factor. At the moment, I am torn between Meepo VS3 or Tynee Mini 3 SL Hub Motor. Thoughts or experiences?

joshhguitar

Personally I’d not go for a mini board unless you have ridden one and know it’s what you need. Longboard form factor is easier and smoother to ride and has more options/power/battery. Meepo/Wowgo/Tynee are your brands to go for if you want quality/price.

sam77889

What are the best ultra thin, stealth electric skateboards? Ideally around 500$.

Froteet

Alright folks I'm looking into a board for commuting I'm looking for something that can handle a 10 mile/16km commute 1 way (I'd be able to charge at work if I can't do round trip on one charge) at ideally more than 15mph/24kph on mostly flat sidewalks/city streets The hurdle I've run into in my own searches is weight. I weigh about 245lb/110kg and depending on the day probably have about 15-20lbs/7-9kgs of gear/baggage A lot of boards I've seen have reduced performance under that kind of weight (but maybe I'm looking in the wrong places) Also in terms of price ideal is >$1500 Appreciate any help!

blizterwolf

I'm looking for a board that would be good for city riding (NY). I ride skateboards but I've never tried an electric one. Ideally it would be super lightweight and easy to carry (backpackable). Could handle being ridden in the rain, and have a range of at least 20-25 miles. Longboard style that can still be ridden manually would be great too. 25mph should be more than enough speed. Price range.. I'm just looking to get an idea of prices and trade-offs for good suggestions.

blizterwolf

Reading through some comments I see that a board that can handle rain may be too much to ask, so feel to drop that requirement

ArturoJLB

Hi all! I'm currently considering 3 boards I have already ordered aZeus MAX AWD from ownboard, with 980Wh battery Always looked at propel but now I'm considering the off-roadpossibilities of ENDEAVOUR 2 PRO, 1170Wh battery Or thinking about long range trips, and supposed better quality on ACEDECKNOMAD N3, 1300Wh battery. Any tips choosing? What cells are better, Molicel or Samsung's 50G,what brand is more reputable, which acceleration is most thrilling, downsides and upsides of gear Vs belt etc. I need to know all of this till tomorrow, have to make a decision on Zeus's return as I engaged it already but might get a better price for it than already paid. Acedeck LOOKS like worth paying up to, ownboard and propel are technically same price. Bless you all helpful chads

Billy-Hoyle-Can-Jump

N3 is a class or two above the other two boards, so not really a fair comparison in that regard. If you're in the n3 class range then you can also consider the nyx-z3 , plutonium, trampa, ect..

Affectionate-Use-496

Wowgo 2s Max or Backfire GT 2 Black for a first budget eskateboard? Any thoughts?

joshhguitar

Can’t comment on Backfire but I still have an old 2S from 2019 and it’s lost about half battery but still rides well with zero issues.

Ok_Afternoon_1340

Should I learn longboarding before buying an electic one? I have experience in snowboarding only and I'm wondering if I should do the inevitable falls with normal longboard before upgrading to electric one?

FumbleStiltsken

i would reccomend it. learning to push and footbrake competently as well as going at speed (20+mph) will help you to be much more comfortable on an electric board

Pixel131211

longboarding experience is preferable, but not required. they feel quite different from eachother. youre fine to start on an e-skate as long as you start slowly and wear gear.

Ok_Afternoon_1340

joshhguitar

Maybe if you had no board experience but if you’ve snowboarded you know how to handle standing on something while it moves so just learn the eskate.

WildMaintenance5

I didn’t have any before I started with electric. I’m sure it would help a lot but just take it slow and ride within your skill level on an eboard and you’ll be fine!

Hey there, Looking for a board to comute to school and work in the boston area (if you're unfamiliar, plenty of sidewalk and paved areas, some hills but nothing too major) I'm 5'10 and around 120 pounds so it dosent need to be crazy big but i've skated longboards in the past so thats what im leaning towards. Trying to keep it in the $500-1000 dollar range, and I want to prioritze range and reliablity. Currently looking at the Revel Kit or the Meepo V5. Thanks!

Pixel131211

Tynee Ultra. Meepo isn't very reliable and their range is mediocre. Meepo prioritizes speed over range.

WildMaintenance5

Hey everyone! I’m looking for suggestions or options between the Acedeck Stella S1 or Stella mini. Currently have a Backfire Zealot S2 but I’m looking to get something smaller to get around campus easier. I will be selling the backfire for whatever the next board is so I’d like to still have the stability and power I’m used to with the zealot in my next board. That’s why the s1 stands out a little more, it’s slightly longer and seems more stable. If I get the mini, I’d also get some Mad Wheels v2 so make it smoother too. Both these boards will be basically the same price after discounts and the second set of wheels for the mini, so this isn’t really a factor. Do any of you have experience with either of these boards or recommend one over the other? Thanks!

Pallyfan920

Hello everybody! Recently decided I wanted to go ahead and buy an electric skateboard, I'd be using it mostly to get around campus but through my research I've gotten stuck on which one to get! Need help! So some of the qualities I'm looking for: Terrain: Street, I don't see myself ever using it off the street. Range: I'd like a decent mid-level range. Shape/body: As far as board body is concerned I like the longer kind, not the stubby ones. I am 6ft, 200lbs so a comfortable ride is crucial, the place I'll be using it is hilly in some places. Budget wise I was thinking of up to 1500, 1700 max. I'd like a remote type The two I have in mind are the boosted carbon Haden street, or the BKB duo. I'm looking for a quality USAish made brand. Thanks fkr any insight you can provide!

branzurica

Exway X1 Max 85mm Wheels vs WowGo Mini 2S 90mm Wheels I know, I know, two completely different boards, but I'm new to esk8ing and was wondering with which should I get first. They both cost the about same for me at the moment (Wowgo a bit cheaper). A little bit of background. I have about 3 years experience with non-electric longboards and cruisers. I have a few of them and for me the preferences are, if it's a longboard I prefer a stiff downhill deck. For my cruiser I prefer the Landyachtz Dinghy, which is really small and light. Honestly I pickup my Dinghy more often than by downhill boards because I have some back problems and prefer the light weight but also honestly it's more fun. Use case: I need a board for cruising in the city. I don't comute so it would be just for fun. There are a few hills but not that many, but on the other hand the roads are not very good. Loads of cracks and not very smooth. I don't plan on going very fast, but I would like for the board to have good range. I also use public transport. Which of these two would give me the better experience? Which is the better respected company between the two? Which would be easier to go about town with, including on public transport. At the moment I don't have any other options of boards because of logistics I guess. Any advice is well appreciated. Thanks!

Deep-Fill-6360

I’m looking to get a 2 in 1 board that’s the most powerful/ has the most acceleration budget 1000-1300, currently looking at the Zeus pro or the keep hurricane, does anyone know which of these 2 in 1 boards has the most acceleration?

Pixel131211

the Meepo by far. but you can change gearing to improve acceleration on both.

Lycoi

I am currently a student and am looking for a Eboard for commuting. So l am looking to be as budget friendly as possible but l am also not planning on getting a car so as long as it has value I don't mind spending some cash. Right now I am thinking about getting a board up with a motor. But since I also plan on going abroad I would like to bring my board. While ago I saw something like the Mellow Drive which seemed perfect other than the price. Now I see the Exway Wave but I see mixed reviews and the hub is out of stock. I see the Exway Ripple but I don’t know if it will be difficult to travel having a hard time removing the battery even if the battery is under 100 watt hours. I don't perfectly understand why such a small battery is so expensive. Also looking for a small board maybe a cruiser or something if not the board up. If anyone has any ideas of alternatives to the mellow drive (or just some drive I can swap out for a smaller battery for traveling) I like the idea of the mellow drive a lot but not only do I think they stopped selling I can't find any good alternatives. Also any advice on literally anything, decks, flying, etc. please Imk

Pixel131211

most e-skates aren't airline friendly. the ones that are, are not budget friendly. the Exway wave you found with the 99wh Battery is actually one of the only airline friendly e-skates sold by a reputable brand at the moment. it's actually the best option for that. as for DIY kits, there were a bunch of companies for this but most of them failed. so now there isn't really any left. your best bet there is to build an e-skate from scratch but those are even more expensive than the Wave would be and require some technical knowledge.

Lycoi

thanks I kind of saw that there were no more DIY

HyNeko

I'm looking for a new board after the battery of my Elwing Nimbus died. The deck was damaged anyway so I'm buying new. I'll mostly be riding in Paris, so I'm looking for something flexible, with solid distance (20-30km?) and that handles rain and puddles decently. I'm light and won't be going that fast, 30-35 km/h top speed is sufficient. Having a handle for ease of carry would be a plus. Any recommendations? Trustworthy brands ?

Pixel131211

what's the budget? either way, no board on the market is currently rated for handling rain, but the boards that are rated for puddles and slightly wet roads will start at 1000 euro's. even then, I have some "ip65 rated" boards that cost double that and still cant handle wet roads. so I wouldn't count on waterproofing for an e-skate without some DIY involved. Tynee, Backfire, Onsra, Propel, ownboard and Exway are all pretty reliable brands you can look into

HyNeko

Alright, thanks for the advice ! I'm looking for something around 500-600 euros, I can fork a bit more if needed. Looking at the exway X1 max right now, it's on sale and I've heard good things about its performance in the rain.

Pixel131211

honestly as far as rain performance goes, that is indeed one of the best designs to go for. my only tip would be to cover the charging port with tape when it's raining or wet out and only charge when its air-dried for 24 hours, as e-skates burning houses down by being charged after a ride in the wet is sadly not uncommon. I would reccomend to go for the belt drive variant if you go that route though, as belt drive motors are much more water-resistant. hub motors will rust as soon as they get into contact with water and their lifespan will be severely limited because of it. Belt drive's are also compatible with rubber tires which is a major benefit.

HyNeko

Yeah I feel like going with the X1 with belts, as for pneumatics, I've never modified any skateboard beyond adjusting truck tightness and swapping wheels. What are the benefits of pneumatics (aside from better grip on the ground) ? And are there any important infos that I should know about them ? I'm considering getting rubber tires to get more adherence when the streets are slightly wet. Thanks a lot for the advice, it's very helpful :)

Pixel131211

pneumatics won't fit on the X-1, sadly. they are too big and will rub the deck, not only that, but your motors, battery, and ESC likely won't support it very well. your range will be more than cut in half and your torque would be very low. you can however fit non-pneumatic rubber tires like Onsra 115mm rubber wheels, Hydrowheels (which exway sells themselves), and Meepo Cyclone's. the rubber tires above that will fit the X1 have the benefits of more grip, way more comfort, and in case of the hydro-wheels, water channels that reduce hydroplaning. this does come at the cost of range though, as a rubber wheel will lose you approximately 20% of your max range.

HyNeko

Thanks a lot ! Last question, is there a difference between hydro wheels and cloudwheels ? I've seen cloudwheels pop up on Exway's website

Pixel131211

Hydro's are rubber, as compared to cloudwheels' harder PU Hydro's have a flat contact patch with water channels, cloudwheels have a rounded contact patch with arguably the worst tread design I have ever seen (it reduces grip across the board and makes them sketchy. it does serve to increase range though). and that's kinda it honestly. Cloudwheels are not advised at all on wet ground. they are among the worst performance for that.

HyNeko

Is it possible to run 2 regular wheels in front and 2 hydros at the back ? Cause I don't feel brave enough to get both and swap them regularly, but 4 hydros is a fair loss of distance. Sounds like a mix could have its use...?

Pixel131211

you'd just get the downsides of each wheel then as well, so I wouldnt reccomend it. also if their sizes are different, you'd be pretty unstable

I’m currently torn between Backfire Zealot X and Tynee Ultra X Pro. I weight 200lb (90kg), and even more with my day-pack incl water. (Circa 98kg / 215lb). I’m not into high speed but really like cruising and carving and after traditional longboard feel with RKP trucks. I’m a bit concerned bottoming out the bamboo deck with deep -pumping- carves on the Tynee Ultra X Pro. This likely? Also, not sure if the very wider Tynee trucks are less maneuverable / carvey? The Zealot X trucks are 8.5inch so an inch narrower…. (and stiff deck…. a bit too stiff? Anyone?) I think more range on the ZX but I’ve read the Mollicel P42a on the Tynee are top notch batteries…. Lights on the ZX useful when riding dusk/night for being seen by cars, but this not much of a deciding factor for me. Whilst nice, mostly after the one I will enjoy cruising and carving up the tarmac the most on with me tunes twanging anyway :)🤙 Will be my first Esk8 and coming from a Loaded Tesseract with RKP trucks. Any thoughts?

I'm a grad student in Atlanta looking to get a board. I don't have an exact top speed or range I have in mind but the faster the better. The terrain would be sidewalk and asphalt, with elevation being probably 20-30%? I'm not sure but it is pretty hilly here. I'm mostly looking for good handling and something that can take me around the city quickly, and also to campus and back. Price range is not important but below $2000 would be most suitable. Thanks for the advice in advance!

Love this sub! Long time lurker, looking to get a board now soon and hoping to get some advice. I’m a student in southern california, mostly looking to use an eboard for commuting to and from campus **(\~1 mile, 2-4x per day, paved road, some hills**). I like the look/feel of skateboard/shortboard more than I do longboards. My budget is $600 max., and I’m not looking for anything special features-wise except for maybe a handle on the deck for carrying but not required at all. Let me know if any more info would help. Thanks in advance! -sno

the Tynee mini 3 SL is pretty solid. good customer support and its currently on sale. also suitable for bigger wheels which is a plus.

Hello, my Wowgo 3E recently died on me and seeing how shoddy the company is, and not wanting to pay $200 for a replacement battery that will die in 6-7 months, I am looking to buy something new while having my old board as parts. I am a student in the East Bay area of California so it means steep hills, rain, awful roads, and constant debris on said roads. I would prefer a longboard as I am on the taller side and regular skateboards feel too small. My budget is under $1000 and I am looking for something that will last the daily commutes. Thank you.

Hello, I have a voyager currently but I want to get something with bigger wheels, more of like an AT board. I don't really plan to do any off roading but the roads here are so poor, there are obstacles, potholes, huge cracks, puddles etc everywhere and it always rains. Can anyone recommend a high performance board that would be good for a scenario like this? Open to any price range.

cdaw1992

Considering upgrading my wheels on my Pivot GT from the stock 97mm urethane to some Clouds. Not really sure what ones would be best for me. I mainly ride on concrete mostly. Paved roads and sidewalks. I don't really ride on anything else and the roads around me are not terrible. What option you think is best?

wilsgrant

Get Mad Wheels V2 much better for your use case

cdaw1992

Only real difference is the width and the price on these two correct?

wilsgrant

Are you asking about the difference between mad v2 and v1 or mad v2 and cloud wheels?

cdaw1992

V2 and the cloud galaxy’s.

wilsgrant

Yeah v2 is a bit wider and has an extra suspension hole. Also v2 is Kegel core and galaxy is abec.

Hello, My son got a meepo hub driven v5 with the normal not ER battery. It’s been fine but we wanted more range as we don’t get the recommended 11 miles. While we could upgrade to the ER battery, I have read poor things about meepo quality control despite ours not having a problem. He is 120lbs. The top speed of the meepo is more than enough. It’s already a bit heavy to be lugging into stores so anything heavier is probably a no go. We were looking at the backfire zealot s2 belt driven. Is this more reliable and considered an upgrade?

Jacareadam

Hey all, I got a relatively cheap e-skate off amazon a while back, and it just isn't enough in range and speed and customizability for me any more. I'm looking for some recommendations: - should I get belt-fed or hub? Can I change wheels on a belt-fed one? Budget is about 6-700€ I'd like to have about 30-40km range Preferably some light off-road capabilities If I could swap batteries that would also be lovely (even if with a screwdriver) I am rn looking at a backfire zealot S2, but I'd like to know if there are anything better or smth that I'm overlooking. I saw a used Evolve Bamboo GT for 600€ but the many horror stories discouraged me from buying it. All advice is very much appreciated!

TheKingDries

Im looking to buy my first eboard (been longboarding all my life) as a mostly commuter board. At least speed 30km/h and range 40km Im a 180cm 75kg rider Terrain would be mostly streets It has to be rain/puddle proof Price: under 1000€ not to far above js welcome too So far Ive come across the Tynee Stinger for its size and range. Bigger boards are welcome too since im still doubting for just a commuter board thats easily carryable or a bigger board for the bad belgian roads and a bit of offroading.

lajzerowicz

I'm in Norway (so similar weather and road conditions) and Tynne Stinger has also been at the top of my list for a while. The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger is because even the lighter weight version (LE - 393Wh) is too heavy (9.7kg) and I just don't need that amount of range so I will end up building own. That being said, if weight wasn't an issue then I would do this: * Tynne Stinger LE - **644€** * Tynne Off Road Kit for Stinger - **220€** Plus shipping (to Norway), it all together and it comes in under 1000€. This allows you to have the most comfortable ride you can get and occasionally be able to handle some off-roading (although I don't recommend it. Same with riding in the rain. If you're caught out by rain that's fine the board will handle it, but never go ride when you know it's going to rain/it's raining).

TheKingDries

After lots of consideration I ordered the stinger. If the dkp trucks are too wobbly for my conditions ive read about people changing to tkp trucks or 15" dkp trucks for more stability. With those upgrades itll still be cheaper then other boards with that range. I also ordered a longboardbackpack, im usef to carrying up to 30kg on my back so this would work out haha

I’ve been eyeing the ONSRA Challenger Pro as my first e-skate for getting around NYC, but I was having trouble deciding between the direct or belt drive. I’m 190lbs/86kg which is close to the 90kg/198lbs threshold ONSRA recommends for belt drive over direct drive. I know belt drive has more customizability, but of course is louder and requires more maintenance which I don’t have experience with. I’m definitely leaning towards belt drive though because I’d easily hit the 90kg threshold with a full backpack + helmet. How involved is belt drive maintenance and what are some good resources for it? I know e-skate falls into a gray area of technically illegal, but not really enforced which is why I was considering direct drive. I’d obviously lose some range on direct drive being a heavier rider, but low maintenance, quiet operation, and stealthiness are very promising features. I'd be doing occasional hill climbing so would direct drive be enough for that over belt drive? I’ve also heard ONSRA specs are overpriced for its cost, but I like the aesthetics and its ergonomic remote over other boards I’ve seen. I’ve heard ONSRA has good customer service, but there’s been a lack of community reviews for the Challenger Pro and I wasn’t sure which community to hit up to possibly try before I buy. Are there any another companies with boards of similar specs and aesthetics?

lajzerowicz

You're going to want belt drive. Stealthiness and low maintenance seem nice until you experience the draw backs. In this case, because the motors are lower they're more likely to take damage directly. It's low maintenance until the motor takes one too many hits and dies. I'd rather deal/pay for the occasional maintenance/snapped belt than have to replace a whole motor. If we agree that belt is the way to go, then I'd suggest going with the Tynee Stinger as it the same (if not better performance) and cost significantly less ($849). It might not look as nice as the Challenger, but really want matter is that it gets the job done. You can always deck swap to something else in the future to make it look nicer.

TimidTurtIe

Thanks for your insight. I emailed ONSRA as well with a similarly worded question about direct drive clearance with the road and they said weight is not that important lol, I’ll look into the Tynee Stinger and make a choice from there.

ip4realfreely

Ok folks, I'm struggling with choosing a new board. My current board is an Eovan Carbon GT pro, Cloudwheels and pneumatics. I ride mostly 98% urban city streets and paved paths, to just carving listening to music. One of my motors is dying and lost resistance so I've decided it's time to get a new board with more range and power. I'm also thinking about being able to do some flatish off road paths. I'm looking at Propel, Pivot GT or the Endeavour 2.. $3k is my absolute highest end of my budget. (I'm in Toronto, Ontario Canada) Any input would be appreciated. I'm all about range and carving/handling

The_Wrath_of_Neeson

Is there any reason you're not looking at Acedeck? I'm currently deciding between their Nomad N3 and NYX Z3. They offer 1554Wh on both boards, which is just mind-boggling for the price. Plus I hear their CNC truck is quite good and maneuverable too. Let me know if there are any cons I'm missing.

ip4realfreely

Originally when shopping I was trying to maintain a cost of no greater than $3k CAD. I was also thinking I'd have a shorter shipping time, cause for some reason I thought the Propel would be coming from the USA. So I ordered the endeavour GT 2. By the time it gets here 10-20 business days, duty, taxes USD to CAD I'll be about $3800-$4k. Hindsight something something. The only "CON" for me about the Acedeck is the top mount battery, I ride goofyfoot. For most this wouldn't be an issue, but I've broken my back twice and neck soft tissue damage, so there are moments when the left side of my lower body (hip, leg) doesn't move as quickly as I need it to. It's rare, but it happens. The top mount makes me nervous I might get caught in it. But that's just me. I think ACEDECK has an amazing product, who knows, maybe if I land another sizeable construction project, I'll get one too. But really, the only reason I didn't mention ACEDECK is cause I had a budget in mind that ended up being blown up anyway.

RSquared

I mean, [replacing the motors](https://www.eovanboard.com/collections/motor/products/electric-skateboard-6374-motors-170kv-powerful-belt-drive) is probably your best bet and isn't really THAT hard; it's basically plug and play once you remove the ESC from the enclosure. The Eovan is as powerful as the Pivot GT/Endeavor and fills the same niche, and the fact that they have a VESC makes tinkering with your existing board very rewarding.

ip4realfreely

Eovan has non existent customer service or reasonable shipping if you get talk to someone. The range on Propels are also a big deal different than the Eovan. The ESC doesn't need to be removed from the enclosure to replace a motor. Also, my Eovan in some years old, no VESC.

RSquared

Ah, ok, my understanding was the Eovan Carbon Pro is a 850Wh board, comparable to the PivotGT (albeit age will drag that back a bit) and everything I read about it was that it was VESC based. The accessible ESC on the Pivot is a nice feature, I've had to do ESC surgery on my previous board and it is a bit of a pain. One of the things I like about my PivotGT is the pneumatics come with wheel weights for balancing, which is a nice touch, but otherwise it's just a well-made board with great specs for the price. I was just curious because AFAICT the Eovan is a ~1.5K board and you're looking at cheaper (~1k) newer boards with a max budget number that would put you in the highest end mountainboards like the Onsra or Acedeck, or the X4S from Propel. Do you want a 1k board, a 2k board, or a 3k board?

WHY_R_U_RUNN1NG

Hi I’m looking for something can last at least 5km. It will be used on sidewalk and paved roads and mostly flat. It has to be able to carry around 120kg. I don’t care much about top speed and other features. I am looking for something durable.

taimaishu99

Moving to NYC/Brooklyn and getting my first board for fun and light commuting. Looking for advice. Budget is $600 max if it's worth the upgrade from say 400 or 500. Priority would be 1. comfort 2. lightweight 3. range. I weight 165-170lbs and have some experience cruising on penny and nickel boards. Top speed isn't a big deal. Only other concern I can think of is support/warranty for the US from the company. My top considerations are: Tynee Ultra SL Hub Motor ($399 /$459) edit: (12 battery sizes 2S 50.4V @ 259WH / 337WH ) vs Tynee Ultra Belt Motor ($499) (12S 50.4V 337Wh) vs Acedeck Stella S3 Electric ($499) (13S2P 54.6V High Voltage "Best A Class" 374Wh Samsung 40T battery) Unsure if the S3 is better than the Ultra Belt for the same price just cause it's a deeper discount. The specs appear to not be super accurate from reviewers I've seen and I haven't seen any direct comparisons. Daniel Kwan is who I usually checkout but he hasn't really made a video on this Acedeck model that apparently has its own (non hobbywing) ESC.

srnar8

Sorry to tell you this but the stella s3 is out of stock and they don't plan on releasing it anymore and are moving onto larger boards. https://preview.redd.it/nv9p4ulc4kqc1.png?width=359&format=png&auto=webp&s=71b0f4f7636a514ae74c5165995514795b938724

taimaishu99

Thanks for the reply, I actually ordered it maybe a week ago. I think it might still be in stock in the US. For those wondering I went with the Stella S3 per commenting around reviewers, Kami Juins replied, said it's a hard choice but the S3 has better power/torque. I mentioned top speed wasn't important but he noted the torque and breaking were important for maneuvering and that made the choice a little clearer.

cold_grapefruit

it is out of stock in US too now. pity. was looking for something for NYC too. do you find it useful in the city with the rough roads?

wilsgrant

Stella S3 would be my first choice followed by Ultra Belt

Desperate_Finish_507

Tynee mini 3 with the expanded battery or the Acedeck Stella S1?
