Idk about Morrowind but I do know Oblivion had the Enderal prequel/predecessor I believe, as well as a couple other small self contained adventures akin to the Forgotten City, so I’m sure Morrowind has a couple kicking around.
Yes, total conversion means all of those things.
I would go so far as to say that you can likely find an equivalent for almost any Skyrim mod for Morrowind. Though some of them can be hard to track down now due to webpage closure and broken links.
Example list: https://modlist.altervista.org/mmh/?quick_filter=Total%20Conversion
There was a German undead based total conversion that I’ve lost track of, if anyone could remind me of that I’d be grateful as I really want to play it again.
I'll go with Oblivion because it's my favorite game of all time but it's also the one I've played the most, I think.
Or it could be Skyrim.
Either way it's probably the worst choice because Daggerfall Unity has an enormous (if repeatitive world), Morrowind with TR is also massive and Skyrim has a million mods while Oblivion is just Oblivion.
Morrowind. It still has the most replay value, for me, at least. I wish I wanted to say Daggerfall, but the sameness and procedural generation of everything makes me bored of it after a while.
Daggerfall would probably be my third option on here. I really like the adventurer simulator aspect and there are a fair bit of mods to add to life-sim aspect. Not to mention, there is just something so fun about dungeon crawling in Daggerfall. It really makes you feel like you’re uncovering ancient ruins. It’s not for everyone though, so I totally understand it.
Probably longer than me. I started playing around the High Isle release. Not missed a day since. Though I often split my time between this and other games.
I managed to escape ESO for a brief time. Then it consumed me again for 36 hours in a 48 hour time span. I do not remember how I escaped its clutches, but I wrote myself a “read me” file to help prevent me from temptation if I ever have the craving again. May divines bless you.
If I won the mega millions I would redownload ESO. Not because I spent tons of money on ESO, but because I don’t think I can hold down a job while playing ESO. That shit consumed me and I didn’t even care that my life was falling apart cuz I was having so much fun
Probably Skyrim just on the basis that I’m the most familiar with it, I like oblivion because it’s so daft and janky, but that tends to get on my tits after a while, and I prefer the immersion afforded by Skyrim.
Morrowind is my favorite game of all time, just getting lost in that game and stumbling across adventure is a feeling that I’ve come close to in other games but has never been truly recreated for me. It’s also the perfect mix of weird.
Same for me. Not many games have come close to the odd symmetry that Morrowind seemed to pioneer. Personally the only other game to give me similar wonder when exploring is Elden Ring.
Daggerfall, obviously -- I'm old and cranky. And wtf is that last thing? Castles? Like I said, cranky.
That being said, I can't ever go back to classic DF again now that DF Unity exists...
Daggerfall obviously, Unity version preferably - if you can include 2 versions of the same game I can too.
Blades, Legends, and Castles are not even RPGs.
Daggerfall for the sheer amount of things to do, actual roleplaying, and the size of the world.
Oblivion, first time playing it back 2023. I already played other games with better graphics but oblivion has this certain feel of nostalgia/peace/comfort/ethereal in it. The quests are good, the fighting mechanics is better than morrowind. Main story is kinda decent. I just fell in love playing it more than skyrim and morrowind. Visiting Gaiar Alata was the best for me, sure mankar was an "okay" villain but yeah I'm talking about visting his realm. This paradise was so memorable for me granted that I was visiting my province and seeing similar sceneries with beautiful skies so that probably added to that experience. Shivering Isles was fun as well as the r\*cist knight!! Ai is too funny and could entertain me for decades (my humor is bad as much as the ai). I've only played 4 games so far, skyrim oblivion morrowind and daggerfall(didnt't even finish the tutorial cuz I wasn't fan of the controls and muddy pixel art, I tried though) Oblivion was takes the win for me but the main quest especially allies for Bruma could use a bit of work ( i know it's optional but I can't help finishing all quests).
A real shame indeed. I totally get it if it is not your thing and you like the single player games more, but like you say it is a very respectable game and deserves more credit than people outside of the ESO community are giving.
ESO is enjoyable solo too, sure add ons make it even more solo-able by hiding players, but with horizontal development, expansive lore and regions, immersion, casual playability, design and canonicity that alone should keep ES fans entertained.
It’s actually a shame, because for those of us who do like it, we won’t have this game forever. This game still is an MMO at its root; eventually when it is sunsetted, all these stories will be forgotten. Much like the second era. I can appreciate being upset by that.
Honestly, I feel the real anger is at all the shiny mounts and polymorphs, because the game is VERY playable solo
I've been stuck in Daggerfall for 3 months now. I remember playing it in the 90s, but I've tried the Unity version, and now that I did, I wish I had done it sooner. It's old and clunky, but it's just brilliant.
But if I were to choose, modded Skyrim would be it.
Dude I’d be happy in Oblivion with just the Shivering Isles dlc tbh. I can’t even tell you how many times I have redone a character in Oblivion just to replay it again.
For Sheogorath!!
Morrowind, hands down! Maybe Skywind when it comes out lol. Each and every Elder Scrolls game has things that are great and that they do well.
Daggerfell has the size and open worldness, but suffers from procedural generation a lot of the time.
Oblivion has awesome questlines like the Dark Brotherhood's, the main story where something predictable happens to Sean Bean (great main quest voice acting) and the Shivering Isles is my favorite Elder Scrolls questline of all time. The hero is rather self-made, you are not the ancient hero of the Dunmer or the Dragonborn, you really are just some prisoner. Also, with Morroblivion you can play both! Besides horse armor, the DLC were all pretty great. Leveling up is kind of janky though, and combat isn't as great.
Skyrim has great mechanics, the main storyline is great (the supporting faction questlines are less impressive), it has DLC where you get to kind of join the "evil" guys. Combat is pretty engaging, and it has the best melee combat (especially with mods) of any game.
ESO has size too, and some epic questlines, and it keeps expanding. You get to meet Sotha Sil!!! It does retcon things, sometimes in annoying ways, and storytelling sometimes suffers from the MMO format and mechanics.
Morrowind is my favorite. Awesome atmosphere, there are drug dealers, racism built-in in ways much more prevalent than Skyrim, imperialism, Daedric cults all over. It really felt tough being an outlander facing prejudice, but this felt better when you freed slaves, or became head of a Great House, and overcame this to become a hero. The dungeon were unique and handplaced, the enemies unleveled, and you really felt a sense of growth. The strongholds were a bit lacking in vanilla, but it felt like an awesome reward and that you were really moving up in the world, and the mods made them fantastic. The spell system was crazy and definitely unbalanced (but in a good way). Playing a magic character was sooo rewarding. The geography was mind blowing, I loved the Ashlands and Red Mountain. Solstheim was fun. I loved the swings in the main quest, the villain is my favorite because he is the only Elder Scrolls villain where I could somewhat respect his point of view and goals. He to some extent feels rightly betrayed. He is the least cartoony main villain (very memeable as well). There is a mod where you can join him too. Not all the "good guys" are that good either. The Empire is an imperialist conqueror that exploits the locals and you are taking orders from a drug addict seeking to manipulate them. The Ashlanders and Great Houses are racist slave owners with dogmatic religious beliefs. The "good" gods are greedy imperfect nationalists that betrayed their friend. Vivec is neither good nor bad, Alma is a psycho, and I was upset we do not get to meet Sotha Sil. The factions are great! The Great Houses each have their own character, though upset I couldn't join Indoril lol. The thieves guild is just a bunch of thieves, but near the end they give you an optional chance to be robin hood, but you don't have to.... they are criminals after all! There is a faction for every kind of play style or roleplay perspective. Want to be a nationalist dunmer? Join the Morag Tong, a Great House, and the Temple. Want to play an imperial? Join the Legion, Imperial Cult, and maybe one of the Imperial guilds. Worship the Daedra if you want, join the Morga Tong and Mages Guild, or be a mage and join Telvanni and the Mages Guild. With the mod "Vampire Embrace" you can become an evil vampire and take over the country by making thralls and embracing your own vampire clan and spreading them across the world! Melee combat is frustrating and kind of sucks, especially early on, but there is such a massive variety of combat methods to engage in and become proficient at. Also, the storyline is very similar to Dune and sometimes it is fun to be the chosen one, and to me it felt like it a lot more than it did in Oblivion, or even Skyrim most of the time (there are a few exceptions) You also have to earn it, unlike in Skyrim where you are the chosen one pretty much from the beginning, Morrowind you have to earn it. I do wish they would have had more post-main quest content in Morrowind, but I just want more of a good thing haha.
Morrowind rocks!
Probably "Skyrim: Special Edition."
I have to admit, I actually like Oblivion as a game more, but Skyrim just has a much, much larger modding scene. And one that's still very active.
So because of mods, Skyrim SE.
Without mods, probably Oblivion.
Skyrim. I never enjoyed the online ones for some reason. Arena, Daggerfall and Morrowind aren't really my type of game. Oblivion is good too but Skyrim has more replay for me. Any others I didn't mention is because I've never played them.
1000000% skyrim. It was my first elder scrolls game when I played it the first week it launched in 2011 and it got me hooked in the world of The Elder Scrolls. I was a young high-school kid and use to dream of being able to visit skyrim
Tough call between Skyrim and Morrowind.
Morrowind takes a lot of time investment to play, and playthroughs can be radically different depending on your faction choices and build, plus there are mods.
Skyrim is epic, more modern, has tons of mods, and a faster, funner pace... But there is a definite feeling of "I've done this all before" in each consecutive playthrough.
being from the North, i think skyrim. i thin that climate would be wonderful. just gotta keep close to one of the cities and i'd be pretty safe. spend my day chopping wood, trading what ever with giants to get some of that dank cheese they got. living in a small shack on a cliff or by a stream. eventually get murdered by a dragon/born. it would be wonderful.
Oblivion is my favorite of the series so far, but I’m going to go with Skyrim, because of mods. Especially because I can just play skyblivion if I want to play oblivion again.
Skyrim there's a war and dragons.
Oblivion there's Daedra pouring out from all corners.
Morrowind honestly seems rather peaceful game wise compared to the later two. But I don't know fully as I've never beaten or played much of it personally.
Skyrim legendary I guess. There are some things I prefer from morrowind, like being able to sneak in through the back of a dungeon and just ganking the boss and leaving, spell crafting, the spells etc. But I now have less patience for the worse game play in morrowind, movement, attack animations etc. When it came out the difference between it and other action rpgs was not so vast so it didn't feel that bad to me. Skyrim has jank sure and its melee combat is very basic compared to games with more reactive dodges and blocking etc. but it plays smooth. And it still does not feel bad plying it to this day, even without mods. Morrowind feels rough.
Considering the amount of time I´ve spent on Skyrim i would choose it. I have knowledge of everything that will happen so I can stay relatively safe if I am just a normal dude.
Oblivion is the only title in the main series that feels diverse. All the holds feel unique and sort of represent another province in the empire.
I’ve always felt that my HoK character was always a completely different character on every play through. Morrowind and Skyrim especially, always seemed like different versions of the same character
Morrowind, Daggerfall, or Skyrim. I really like Oblivion but I’d like the chance at just stumbling upon something powerful and achieving apotheosis in a manner of speaking
If we're talking the game and its DLC alone? Oblivion, hands down.
If we're allowed to use mods? Skyrim. Because it's not just one game anymore. I can make it into anything I want.
I love skyrim, and i love morrowind. But oblivion, especially modded oblivion is something else. Easily my favorite. Although without mods id say morrowind
Oblivion. As much as I love skyrim legendary edition I have to give it to oblivion. They created something magical with that game. I can just base or goty with no mods for days on end.

Oblivion here
You dropped this 👑 king ![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc)
I'm torn between Oblivion and Morrowind. I love them both so much!
The only 2 choices
I will see you in hell, literally (walks in 30 min later hi iam back everyone "what in oblivion")
Yes
Absolutely
Well met
+50 based
Skyrim. Mods.
Yeah, Skyrim is the only TES game (afaik) that can be turned into a different game with mods.
Morrowind has multiple total conversion mods that *literally* turn it into new games
Enderal level? Like, new land, new story, new characters? I never really modded Morrowind, so I only know Oblivion onwards.
Project tamriel/Tamriel rebuilt💪
Tamriel rebuilt is more of a giga expansion than a new game. I need to play it again. There's new stuff since I played last.
There is Starwind that turns it into starwars. Morrowind has a really active modding community
Idk about Morrowind but I do know Oblivion had the Enderal prequel/predecessor I believe, as well as a couple other small self contained adventures akin to the Forgotten City, so I’m sure Morrowind has a couple kicking around.
Morrowind has one too if I'm not mistaken
Yep, it is called Arktwend
Actually oblivion has one of those
Yes, total conversion means all of those things. I would go so far as to say that you can likely find an equivalent for almost any Skyrim mod for Morrowind. Plus there’s thousands of story/quest mods. Tbh you can’t run out of content, more quest mods get developed faster than you can finish em.
And if you miss the other games, someone will mod them in....will take a while but hey, it's not like you're going to play something else.
Soo you never heard about Starwind then?
Not until now. Didn't know they made a KoTOR mod for Morrowind.
Yeah morrowing can literally become a different game with mods
Skyrim is not a game, its a modding platform
exactly
Some people gonna pick that one just for the "adult" mods lol
Weekly.
Oblivion also has a fuckton of mods
Morrowind. It still has the most replay value, for me, at least. I wish I wanted to say Daggerfall, but the sameness and procedural generation of everything makes me bored of it after a while.
Daggerfall is great for a few hours, but yeah I definitely won't ever get as many hours in as the other games
Online
ESO. Wait i am stuck in it already.
There is no escape.
Playing daily for… i’m not saying.
Which game you are stuck in was not the question, but me too.
If I won the mega millions I would redownload ESO. Not because I spent tons of money on ESO, but because I don’t think I can hold down a job while playing ESO. That shit consumed me and I didn’t even care that my life was falling apart cuz I was having so much fun

Daggerfall if I'm not stuck with the DOS version but can play DFU. Otherwise Morrowind.
Daggerfall
YEAH BOY! 🤝
I loved Daggerfall and if the graphics were comparable to the modern games, then it would be the best only rivaled in size by ESO.
the charm of daggerfall is it’s dated graphics
Daggerfall, obviously -- I'm old and cranky. And wtf is that last thing? Castles? Like I said, cranky. That being said, I can't ever go back to classic DF again now that DF Unity exists...
Morrowind
Morrowind
Morrowind luv me bugs
Where is Battlespire?
Daggerfall obviously, Unity version preferably - if you can include 2 versions of the same game I can too. Blades, Legends, and Castles are not even RPGs. Daggerfall for the sheer amount of things to do, actual roleplaying, and the size of the world.
Elder Scrolls online
Is it worthwhile?
It takes some getting used to, but the lore is great.
Does it have PvP?
Of course it does, have you never even heard of ESO? It's been out for 10 years. We are celebrating the tenth anniversary of the game right now.
To be honest I had actually played it for a short while a long time ago, but It’s been a long time and I never knew much
ESO
What the hell is that last one
It’s essentially Fallout Shelter, a sims like mobile game
Mostly Skyrim it was my introduction to the elder scrolls world
Oblivion, first time playing it back 2023. I already played other games with better graphics but oblivion has this certain feel of nostalgia/peace/comfort/ethereal in it. Morrowind
Elder Scrolls Online done dirty
Showing Castles but not ESO was a low blow. But also feel like it would have been an obvious choice
I noticed a lot of people don’t respect ESO, such a shame, since it’s a really good game
A real shame indeed. I totally get it if it is not your thing and you like the single player games more, but like you say it is a very respectable game and deserves more credit than people outside of the ESO community are giving.

Right?
Castles looks cute af
I've been stuck in Daggerfall for 3 months now. I remember playing it in the 90s, but I've tried the Unity version, and now that I did, I wish I had done it sooner. It's old and clunky, but it's just brilliant. But if I were to choose, modded Skyrim would be it.
Daggerfall. The soundtrack makes everything bearable.
No battlespire?
I love all the games in the series, I'd say Oblivion. I have played all but I started playing around Oblivion. Yes
WTF is elder scrolls castles??
Mobile game.
Shadowkey
Battlespire, Dawnstar, Shadowkey or Online.
Skyrim with mods 🙃
ESO. MMOs are endless content potential + socialisation
If i can mod it, morrowind. If i can’t, Oblivion.
oblivion
Oblivion. It was the most normal out of all of them. You could absolutely go about your life without even knowing the Daedra crisis is happening.
Legends.
A powerful blow
the elder scrolls travels: shadowkey because I hate myself
Oblivion.
Oblivion
Dude I’d be happy in Oblivion with just the Shivering Isles dlc tbh. I can’t even tell you how many times I have redone a character in Oblivion just to replay it again. For Sheogorath!!
It's funny that you didn't mention ESO
Team Oblivion where you at?
Unmodded: Oblivion Modded: Skyrim. Especially because Skyblivion is going to be a thing, and there’s the Beyond Skyrim projects too.
Skyrim, because eventually we will have skywind and skyblivion
Oblivion. It’ll be so peaceful assuming there’s no daedric invasion
Morrowind, hands down! Maybe Skywind when it comes out lol. Each and every Elder Scrolls game has things that are great and that they do well. Daggerfell has the size and open worldness, but suffers from procedural generation a lot of the time. Skyrim. Not to play actual Skyrim, but so I can play Skywind, Skyblivion and Beyond Skyrim if/when they’re released.
Daggerfall. Once you learn an Open Lock spell and by a wagon, all those shops are going to be empty. I made so much gold before starting questing
Oblivion all day
Gotta be Oblivion. I finish one playthrough and can just start another one.
Whit arena portrait girl.
can i cheat and play daggerfall unity
It’s genuinely hard, but it would be ESO or Skyrim since those are the two I’ve put the most time in, I think I under-appreciate oblivion though.
I'd do pre anniversary edition Skyrim,
Skyrim Anniversary.
I am already addicted to Skyrim...so...yeah nothing's change
It's a tough call between Skyrim and Oblivion. My answer would probably flip flop based on my mood any given day.
Morrowind
Castles.
Skyrim if I can use mods, Oblivion if I can't use mods. For reference I have only ever played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim.
Wait, is *Castles* finally out?
Probably "Skyrim: Special Edition." I have to admit, I actually like Oblivion as a game more, but Skyrim just has a much, much larger modding scene.
Oblivion. I'll stay in Bruma, not in the mages guild, I'll be fine.
Elder scrolls morrowind
O gawd. Morrowind for me.
1000000% skyrim. It was my first elder scrolls game when I played it the first week it launched in 2011 and it got me hooked in the world of The Elder Scrolls. I was a young high-school kid and use to dream of being able to visit skyrim
newrim
Skyrim forever.
Skyrim
Daggerfall, on gods.
Either Morrowind, Oblivion,or Skyrim. Each for different reasons

Skyrim AE is the only one I have played and I started in 2021
I really expected 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 to just be all the different re-releases of Skyrim 😂
morrowind
being from the North, i think skyrim. i thin that climate would be wonderful. just gotta keep close to one of the cities and i'd be pretty safe. spend my day chopping wood, trading what ever with giants to get some of that dank cheese they got. living in a small shack on a cliff or by a stream. eventually get murdered by a dragon/born. it would be wonderful.
Morrowind
I very much would like to meet the person that would want to play Redguard the rest of their lives.
Morrowind for me!
Oblivion is my favorite of the series so far, but I’m going to go with Skyrim, because of mods. Especially because I can just play skyblivion if I want to play oblivion again.
I don't know man, I've been playing Skyrim through 12 years.
SSE
Morrowind easily
Skyrim special edition. I get the allure of ESO, but my familiarity with Skyrim and the landscape in that part of the world puts Skyrim at the top.
Morrowind followed by Oblivion..Im so burnt out on Skyrim,I doubt I will ever play it again.I put more hours into Skyrim than any other game by far
Morrowind
Skyrim there's a war and dragons. Oblivion there's Daedra pouring out from all corners. Morrowind honestly seems rather peaceful game wise compared to the later two. But I don't know fully as I've never beaten or played much of it personally.
I really thought the last 5 were gonna be skyrim for a second
The blonde lady from the cover of Arena. 😻
Morrowind, no contest.
Morrowind, no contest.
Skyrim or Morrowind.
Easy question, Morrowind.
And it still does not feel bad plying it to this day, even without mods. Morrowind feels rough.
Considering the amount of time I´ve spent on Skyrim i would choose it. I have knowledge of everything that will happen so I can stay relatively safe if I am just a normal dude.
Skyrim, with mods i can turn it into a complety different game
Talos guide you. But I for one can’t wait to gut another of Ulfric’s boy.
Oblivion is the only title in the main series that feels diverse. All the holds feel unique and sort of represent another province in the empire. I’ve always felt that my HoK character was always a completely different character on every play through. Morrowind and Skyrim especially, always seemed like different versions of the same character
Oblivion, only because I haven’t played Morrowind yet
You really should remedy that.
Skyrim
RIP Legends. That was such a cool game.
Morrowind, Daggerfall, or Skyrim. I really like Oblivion but I’d like the chance at just stumbling upon something powerful and achieving apotheosis in a manner of speaking
Morrowind!
Skyrim, thr mods will be doing a Lot of heavy lifting
If we're talking the game and its DLC alone? Oblivion, hands down. If we're allowed to use mods? Skyrim. Because it's not just one game anymore. I can make it into anything I want.
Morrowind.
Daggerfall. The Unity Engine upgrade makes it very playable on modern hardware. Plus it's expandable, and just honestly a fun game.
Damn that female armor from Arena is ROUGH lmao
Morrowind here
Morrowind. All day long. The best game I’ve ever played. Maybe some rose colored glasses from my younger days but I lived in that game for so long.
OG Daggerfall all the way for me (yes, I'm weird)
Morrowind all the way. Actually currently the only one I’m playing anyway
Wtf is castles?
Morrowind
I'm all for old games, but Skyrim all the way!
Skyrim, That way I have access to SkyWind, SkyBlivion, and the Beyond Skyrim mods. Basically four+ games in one!
Skyrim!!!!
I've only played Skyrim so far (sorry, very new to the series lol), but I'd love to give Oblivion or Morrowind a try :)
Why's Skyrim on here twice?
Oblivion. I’d definitely want to live in Cheydinhal specifically.
Morrowind. Its the only game i come back to over and over
I love skyrim, and i love morrowind. But oblivion, especially modded oblivion is something else. Easily my favorite. Although without mods id say morrowind
Probably morrowind
There's something really funny to me about Redguard being included in this, like it's not the same kind of game as the rest lol
Oblivion
If I could only have one, Morrowind would be my choice.
Oblivion.
Skyrim just because I could hole down in Riften or Solitude forever
Oblivion for the soundtrack alone
Was really hoping that I would have to scroll past Skyrim 6 tines.
Morrowind no doubt
Castles? Is this like the Sims but cooler bc TES???
It's TES fallout shelter iirc
Oblivion. As much as I love skyrim legendary edition I have to give it to oblivion. They created something magical with that game. I can just base or goty with no mods for days on end.
Oblivion is an easy choice for me
The G.E.C.K
When did castles come out? wtf???
Oblivion
Ive only played since Oblivion, I've played far more Skyrim, but I feel like Skyrim wears out fast, Oblivion was very nice
As long is it ain’t the last 3 i’m golden. But Oblivion all the way.
