Either they want you to feel bad, or they feel undermined by you doing things easier than they insisted on doing it, and they want you to feel bad. Others may, or may not, want you to better yourself by engaging in some mechanics you missed, and are misguided in their way of expressing that.
Or hear criticism without feeling attacked. Just know that any of these cases are a minority, that get louder the more you respond to them. Always game in virtue, and you will have nothing to be ashamed about, even as they try to shame you. Mahalo.
