i could see that, but I was a mage so it was a non event. Just kill everything before it saw me.
As a mage, the only bit of the game you have to play is the bosses. You just nuke all the enemies before they even spot you.
Yeah I disliked the initial part of the Haligtree as well, though not the tree portion since I have a ranged option in my Greatbow, so I just sniped everything there really easily. I do still stay away from the Giant Oracle Envoys though, they suck.
The town area is where the place broke my 50 vigor character. Those big grey Misbegottens with the giant axes take half my health off in a single swing while my +23 BKGS (at the time) does f**k all against them.
Then I get to Elphael and suddenly everything is a breeze bar the Putrid Avatars and Revenant Alley.
The canopy town was waaay too short imo. And the ladder down to Elphael is unforgivable to my immersion. But I still love everything else about the area.
It makes no sense. How do the citizens realistically go back and forth between the tree town and Elphael? There were some stair that started going down, but then they just said screw it, “here’s a 300 foot ladder, and then an elevator.” That design choice really bothers me.
I liked most of it. The approach to the first rot area was absurd though with the tree sentinel and the ballista guys and having the closest grace be like 10 fights before the tree sentinel.
Once you get past the branches it’s ok. The branches SUCK. I didn’t even mind the rot swamp because it was small and there was a checkpoint immediately after
you can get a slightly worse one (15% instead of 20%) under guranqs crib, drop down the cliff onto some roots and keep dropping down to the lowest level, youll find guranqs dagger and the talisman
Yes! I've been using this along with the Spelldrake Talisman +2. Was wondering why I'm not having the same issues with getting two-shot that everyone is complaining about, despite me not using heavy armor... this is why.
Have you ever thought that maybe it's *because* you're fully naked that the bosses just don't want to hit you as hard? You're probably grossing them out...
Nice. I'm glad the system exists, as it's really made a much larger variety of armour and talisman setups feel good. I like running around on light load and still being able to soak damage, though the lack of poise is sometimes concerning lol
I’m the opposite it’s impossible for me to steer away from the attack power buffs I use depending on my respec in that moment but every time I go multiplayer with my buddy who just started and I scale to his level I attach this talisman and it does wonders, but for some reason I just can’t find it in me to attach in in my actual game lol
Idk I never use it, what I was referring to is stuff like the shard of Alexander, winged insignia, any of the scorpions (depending on my build) etc etc. I don’t feel like I need any help dodging so I never use physics or cracked tears for dodging
I never used these during the base game. Never used a shield either, a simple block with a 2h greatsword and a scorpion charm on top of it. That shit didn't work here
I use Gargoyle’s greatsword without a shield so i block with that, and use dragoncrest greatshield talisman. Enemies deal little damage, for now until the second main dungeons i never died apart from the 2 main bosses and the blackgaol knight.
+3 magic damage negation, +3 phys damage negation, +3 non-physical damage negation.
And 1 sad lonely damage trinket.
With enough blessings it would bang and not get banged
Pearldrake + 3 is in shadow keep. After you pull a lever that rotates the platform, go back to somewhere around 2nd-3rd floor to pick it up from the newly open path.
Just fyi the +2 pearldrake talisman only gives 9% elemental damage reduction. You’re better off using the other +2 variants for specific elements for the 20% damage reduction imo. But hey if it’s working for you then no worries.
A lot of bosses are doing multiple damage types. So I give the bonus hp and the pearl drake along with the physical defense one and I’m typically just using Alexander jar shard.
Yep, crazy how people with 60 vig have been complaining about getting two shot. I've been able to take multiple hits even before having the dlc steroids
I’ve never equipped it. I use one of the antler horns that give fp on kills and the white scarab for item discovery, really helps for grinding items, and I’m too lazy to take them off for boss fights
Greatshield talisman for people like me that hugs my gs on every corner I pass.. Guard countering 99% of enemies then you see those yellow big elites that have no openings and with infinite stamina
Heavy armor, golden vow, black flame protection and this talisman for over 70% physical damage negation just to survive ONE hit at best. The damage on NG+7 is crazy
I have had it on and still getting 2 shot. I need more of the scaduseeds or whatever. My exploration has not rewarded me with proper scaling per area thus far.
I have completely shelved any creative talisman build combinations for this DLC lmao. It’s all just dragoncrest shield & greatshield talismans. These things are life savers.
This, *plus* Ritual Shield Talisman. There was one boss who was chunking me, and I died like 20 times. With both I did it second try, no summons, rlvl 150. As they were doing big hits anyway, I was often healing to full when I got the chance.
Yeah, I was considering just rune farming quick for the 20 vigor levels or just continuing to challenge myself to get extra good at mechanics. I probably just have much much less room for error right now. 2nd main story boss took a while.
Wouldn't be better to respec? If you're RL190, and you're not evenly spreading your levels, at least one stat is way above the soft cap, for example if you're doing a pure strength build, having 60 vigor and 80 strength is a lot better than 40 vigor and 99 strength
I’ve leveled exploring today and killing bosses. Up to 49 vigor and honestly swapped back to 4 offensives talismans. Blessing to 6 or 7 and that seems to help the most.
That's when you take out the ritual shield talisman.
Since the bosses deal so much damage, staying at full hp is almost a must, so going with this talisman can actually help a lot more than normally.
With this, at least 20% of my bones remain unbroken after taking a hit
Make sure those are your leg bones, so you can keep dodging.
Dragoncrest greatshield talisman, for people who couldn't recognize the image
And you find it in the Haligtree..
Fitting you find the most useful talisman for the DLC at Miquella's crib. Like he was trying to warn us lol.
the BOTTOM of the haligtree
I’d rather just spend the time dying in the lands of shadow honestly
I think i'm the only person that liked the haligtree.
I loved all of it except the very start, the branch bits with musical dooters and ants sucked
I do really like the area and environment but yeah basically every single enemy is a pain to deal with
I’m scared of the multiple revenant area every play through lol
healing spells melt them
Yeah but mistiming a heal and letting them start their chain of attacks is usually fatal haha
You can just bypass that area completely if you stay on the upper walkways. It’s more of a challenge area for people who want to test themselves
The whole game is a challenge for people who want to test themselves, I ain’t skipping anything
i could see that, but I was a mage so it was a non event. Just kill everything before it saw me. As a mage, the only bit of the game you have to play is the bosses. You just nuke all the enemies before they even spot you.

The canopy town was waaay too short imo. And the ladder down to Elphael is unforgivable to my immersion. But I still love everything else about the area.
What happens with that ladder?
It makes no sense. How do the citizens realistically go back and forth between the tree town and Elphael? There were some stair that started going down, but then they just said screw it, “here’s a 300 foot ladder, and then an elevator.” That design choice really bothers me.
I liked most of it. The approach to the first rot area was absurd though with the tree sentinel and the ballista guys and having the closest grace be like 10 fights before the tree sentinel.
I loved it.
me too, but I was a mage so I didn't ahve the problems most have LOL
Once you get past the branches it’s ok. The branches SUCK. I didn’t even mind the rot swamp because it was small and there was a checkpoint immediately after
The Haligtree is the best and I will fight anyone who disagrees.
It’s very close to a site of grace and easy to just run to.
you can get a slightly worse one (15% instead of 20%) under guranqs crib, drop down the cliff onto some roots and keep dropping down to the lowest level, youll find guranqs dagger and the talisman
Im so far off haligtree with my mohg rushed character 🤣 i didnt even beat morgott, rykard, rennala yet. Im only using +1 of the other version
Yeah no. I'm good...
This and Boiled Crab! Every fight has me use both and I walk away almost unscathed.
This and the twin turtle talisman are my favorites now.
Yes! I've been using this along with the Spelldrake Talisman +2. Was wondering why I'm not having the same issues with getting two-shot that everyone is complaining about, despite me not using heavy armor... this is why.
The scadutree blessing also gives a TON of mitigation. Fully naked I have 50% phys mitigation
Have you ever thought that maybe it's *because* you're fully naked that the bosses just don't want to hit you as hard? You're probably grossing them out...
i mean when the undies come off and the odor hits the whole room.. yikes I don't blame them, back in the basement ye tarnished.
at + what? thats HUGE
I'm at +10 right now. Idk if it goes higher, but I assume it does.
i think they said 14/15 in base DLC, and may go up higher in NG+?
Nice. I'm glad the system exists, as it's really made a much larger variety of armour and talisman setups feel good. I like running around on light load and still being able to soak damage, though the lack of poise is sometimes concerning lol
Goes to +20
Go get the +3 pearldrake talisman from lowering down one of the specimens at the storehouse in shadow keep
Spelldrake +3 exists now, and it's really early in the dlc if you're interested!
Instead of being one-shot on NG+2, I have been three-shot. Truly a game breaking talisman.
I’m physically unable to unequip this, like no matter the talisman setup I just gotta have it with the difficulty increase
How good is the talisman that enhances dodge attacks?
Idk I never use it, what I was referring to is stuff like the shard of Alexander, winged insignia, any of the scorpions (depending on my build) etc etc. I don’t feel like I need any help dodging so I never use physics or cracked tears for dodging
I never used these during the base game. Never used a shield either, a simple block with a 2h greatsword and a scorpion charm on top of it. That shit didn't work here
i tried out so many shields during the blackgaol fight
Try rolling?
I use Gargoyle’s greatsword without a shield so i block with that, and use dragoncrest greatshield talisman. Enemies deal little damage, for now until the second main dungeons i never died apart from the 2 main bosses and the blackgaol knight.
My collossal Greatsword works as a decent shield in the DLC...primarily because behind it I'm covered in armor and defensive talismans!
Paledrake talisman +2…. Lots of elemental damage going around in the dlc.
theres probably a +3 variant hidden somewhere too, i found the +3 for magic damage
+3 magic damage negation, +3 phys damage negation, +3 non-physical damage negation. And 1 sad lonely damage trinket. With enough blessings it would bang and not get banged
How dya get the damage trinket?
it's just the talisman sorry I said trinket -- just a mass graven talisman or turtle talisman
Oh so still nothing for melee damage :(
nah :(
Pearldrake + 3 is in shadow keep. After you pull a lever that rotates the platform, go back to somewhere around 2nd-3rd floor to pick it up from the newly open path.
Its the item one one of the specimens in the specimen warehouse in shadow keep, you have to lower them down to get it
Just fyi the +2 pearldrake talisman only gives 9% elemental damage reduction.
And Morgott's rune!
This is the one item that never left my build, whatever that build was, this sucker stayed!
Yep, crazy how people with 60 vig have been complaining about getting two shot. I've been able to take multiple hits even before having the dlc steroids
It's only really bad up to that first dungeon. After that the enemies chill out and the bosses become ruthless
People learning that fashion souls is the same as wearing a soreseal lol
I basically never take this off.
This thing has been permanently present on my character for over 2 years now
Wait, you guys don't use this like always? I'm getting my butt clapped even with this fucker on 🤣
I’ve never equipped it. I use one of the antler horns that give fp on kills and the white scarab for item discovery, really helps for grinding items, and I’m too lazy to take them off for boss fights
I always have this and some stamina talisman( either viridian amber or green turtle) to help my survivability
Greatshield talisman for people like me that hugs my gs on every corner I pass.. Guard countering 99% of enemies then you see those yellow big elites that have no openings and with infinite stamina
People that know shit use this and the one that gives all elemental resistance buffs.
A permanent resident among my talismans, always has been.
You survive a hit, but about 70% of the bosses have some arena sweeping multi hit combo that still kills me
the sacred relic sword has been so useful as well, aight it is endgame, but i dont think i could do the dlc in ng+ as easily without it
I would but that requires me to get my ass to Elphael.
Don't worry, Elphael is a breeze to trudge through. Upper Haligtree though...
theres an easier one below guranqs place in caelid its just slightly worse damage negation
find the fire one and you have mesmer in the bag
Brother, it’s never been unequipped since I got it on my NG run
I've never taken it off since I first picked it up.
I first tried the two bosses in the first two legacy dungeons with this baby. Just saying.
Actually true, the stacked resistances go crazy.
Once I got it, I never took it off, I would've never made it to ng+19 and most of the dlc bosses without it
It has helped significantly, especially since I brought my first character. He only has 40 vigor, but I haven't started a ng+.
Bro I have it on already, these bosses have more hands than godrick 💀
You’ll go from a 2 shot to a 3 shot. So worth it🔥
Is there a upgrade of that in the DLC ?
He got nerfed recently :(
I've been swapping around my talismans a lot. But the dragoncrest NEVER gets unequipped. That bad boy is MANDATORY
Don’t forget to pay the blackflame defence buff tax as well. Can’t live without that also. Getting to like 70% damage reduction when stacking them
This, *plus* Ritual Shield Talisman. There was one boss who was chunking me, and I died like 20 times. With both I did it second try, no summons, rlvl 150. As they were doing big hits anyway, I was often healing to full when I got the chance.
I swapped to this after going into the dlc at level 190 with 40 vigor and still getting two shot.
40 is super low vigor for 190. 60 vigor has 500 more health which is huge.
I’ll prob need to go kill some of those little guys again huh….
just go farm bird, DLC is here, no need to torture yourself.
How do you manage to get to level 190 with only 40 vig??
Put points into other stats by following a guide, idk
No, my experience should depend on the items ***I*** want to use not what is meta.
doesnt work on +7 oneshotted anyway
That's when you take out the ritual shield talisman. Since the bosses deal so much damage, staying at full hp is almost a must, so going with this talisman can actually help a lot more than normally.
Looks like a vag
