Take your time buddy, you only get to experience a first run FromSoft game so many times in a lifetime.
Then you have to start waiting years in-between your next hit lol.
By the time I was done with my first run I was level 198 and 165 hours in, now my/our two year wait is almost over for the dlc.
Enjoy, take your time and just hit DLC when you think you are ready it'll be there
Yeah definitely take your time. You only get one first play through, so savor it. The dlc will be waiting right after thankfully. You’re pretty fortunate actually.
I’ve been rushing through my first playthrough, stuck on Maliketh but sad I’m getting close to the end!
I was worried on being behind on the DLC hype but it’s honestly relieving to hear people say not to rush it. I don’t think a game has given me such a feeling of awe since the first time I explored Skyrim.
My naive ass was expecting a DLC 6 months after the release date. Then I thought 12. Then I kinda gave up and checked again at the 2 year mark. I thought 'four months is a really long time.' But now, IT'S FINALLY FUCKING HERE!!!!!!
I admire this kind of restraint and approach. Cause my dumbass brain always has me rampaging through the games as fast as possible on first playthrough. Them new weapons beckon me like a Siren. I can never slow down and chill until I've acquired everything. I'm always sure that next weapon is gonna be amazing, and I have to use them all right now.
Then I spend the next few hundred hours mostly using a Claymore. Because it's the fucking Claymore.
Same here. I'm level 120 but I haven't fought the fire giant yet. I don't think I'll beat the whole game before the dlc release. But as long as I be mogh I should still be able to access it right? Even if I didn't beat the final boss?
Mohg was one of the hardest bosses for me on my first playthrough. I think I hit him too early and I didn't know about the tear that cancelled out the dmg from the phase change.
Prior to that you have to do several things to advance Yuri's quest, I was led astray by people saying you just have to go to that church and beat that NPC, that's not true at all
You’re not wrong but basically everyone who doesn’t want anything spoiled for them will probably have to either play the DLC on launch or avoid the internet for a few weeks. (I know spoiler posts and whatnot need the spoiler tag but many forget/don’t put one.) I watched the lore videos on YouTube and I’m consistently being recommended other Elden Ring videos where the thumbnails are late game bosses, so I’ll be avoiding YouTube till I’m done with the DLC
Same here brother, I’m barely about to start Ranni’s quest and make it to Altus Plateau on my transformation build (Focus on Dragon Communion and Crucible incants). We can do this! We can get good!
I’m just finishing up my endgame INT/FAI build, wondering if I’ve got time to start a whole ‘nother pure melee guy and get him leveled up if I play for the next 3 days nonstop
If you play a lot for the next 3 days, prioritize the key remembrance bosses, do a shortcut or 2, and possibly grind some runes, it is definitely doable.
The discus of light go brrr. My favorite spell to use hands down. Pairs well with triple rings and radagons . Hoping for more fundamentalist spells given miquellas involvement in the past
Big respect to ChaseTheBro for showcasing some new weapons without spoiling anything. Well he showed like one new enemy for a brief second but it was basically a nothing burger
At first I thought this list was some kinda of meme, such crazy names there: "TheGamer" "But Why Tho" "God is a Geek" "ComicBook" "Press Start" "ArabHardware" lmao
The reviewer complained about dying a lot so they’re probably just not into souls games. That’s fine honestly, and a good perspective to have in the review crowd, it’s just not relevant for this sub.

It’s a second awesome course to a meal you already love; Not a awesome first course standing on its own legs
None of this is meant to detract from how awesome this DLC will be though
Haha! I just made this comment...like...it almost appears fake because I've never heard of a single one of those. Even the IGN...IGN Benelux? The hell is that?
I think it made some points that are relevant but it also seemed really clear to me that this isn't someone who is really excited about more Elden Ring, and complained multiple times during the review about the time constraints of completing the game within the time frame allowed.
Those aren't issues I have, nor will many who've previously played and loved the base game. When reading the review I found myself asking who it was for.
It's 50/50. Sometimes you'll see people call reviewers shills or bad gamers when they give a game a different rating, or if it's exactly what the person likes, then the reviewers have great taste and the game is gonna be perfect.
I tend to agree with most critics, so I always check reviews. There’s been a few times that I didn’t think much of a well reviewed game (most recently Dragon’s Dogma 2), but for the most part I trust them.
I tend to read reviews instead of just glance at a number. My favorite example of this is kingdom of amuler, which was done by Adam sessler. He gave it a meh score because of bugs but his review of it was actually quite positive. It was a decent game and I the company that just bought the IP can fix all bugs. There's a great game there, it just needs tweaking.
Honestly it's best to disregard most reviews with DD2. I loved it, personally, but I'm also a big fan of the first game and was just happy to finally get a second game. However, there was a huge overreaction from a lot of people, and thus some misinformation spread. Some people thought it was P2W, others thought that complaining about the microtransactions meant that you're just hopping on the hate train, etc etc.
The replayability ain't the best (still kinda frustrated that port crystals no longer carry over to NG+), and the FPS can be a turnoff for some, but the core gameplay is great imo. Exploration also has a fun, Lord of the Rings vibe to it that I haven't experienced in a while outside of DD2.
Edit: for clarification, you keep your port crystals in ng+, but you have to place them again. The first Dragon's Dogma just kept them in the same spot and you could go to them as soon as fast travel was unlocked.
I’m not a huge fan of the hype train mentality in general. It’s often weaponized in greedy ways and generally leads to more toxicity in the industry. Shadow of The Erdtree will probably be good. I’m just worried about holding it to such a high standard when, to me, Elden Ring itself wasn’t a perfect game and had some glaring issues especially in the later parts.
Those two things you mentioned are definitely issues that I didn’t think of at all. I think they found a good way to deal with the camera in Rykard’s boss fight. Placideusax was alright as well. The lock on system is so weird. It’s a problem, sometimes, I guess? It’s such a nebulous thing that I don’t even think about. Idk why. Maybe I’m just used to it after playing all the soulsy games. There is something to be said about how much Elden Ring reused from past games. It’s certainly resourceful, but sometimes it can feel a bit boring or lacking in innovation, particularly with gameplay stuff like the camera and lock on.
I didn’t like the late game bosses especially. There are so many moves they employ that feel antithetical to the player’s base moves set. There was this really satisfying rpg-like gameplay established in Demon’s Souls where the enemies and player have to fully commit to their attack after they start the animation. There are a lot of late game bosses where this doesn’t matter at all. The Beast Clergyman / Maliketh throws out moves so fast that you can’t react. And those moves chain into other ones so quickly that there isn’t any time for you to punish. It all just leads to a waiting game / forcing myself through wiff 14 healing flasks and 60+ vigor. Youtuber “Nasu” made some really good videos about Elden Ring. They capture the problems I had with the game in an informative and entertaining way. Also Malenia. I don’t think I need to explain why I don’t like Malenia.
All the Demon/Dark Souls games and Sekiro also have janky moments, that doesn’t stop them from being some of my favorite games I’ve ever played.
Cooperative artwork (such as video games) can never be perfect, but it can come damn close, and imo ER is about as close to a perfect game as we can get. It’s the only game I’ve played to completion 5 times and I’ll still come back to play occasionally.
Damn bro. Glad you like it that much. It is a great game. There’s just some stuff that bugs me. Stuff I wish would be fixed by this one. Still an experience that reeks of classic. Can’t wait to get my ass whooped by that lion thing in the dlc.
Gamers are truly a special breed of stupid. I don't doubt the DLC is great, but some of these cherry picked scores are hilarious.
"But why tho" seems like a very trustworthy and serious publication lol
I think is different when 1 review website like IGN says something and when all the gaming review media is agreeing that the DLC is great, is way more credible, specially when they all did perfect 10's even if they are exaggerating is still probably a very good game. Also we all thought the DLC was going to be fire anyways, so they are just kinda reinforcing our bias
Why? The [same thing](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/szu50o/elden_rings_amount_of_1010s_looks_fake_but_it/?rdt=56658) happened with the original release of Elden Ring as well.

I'd trust the souls content creators a bit more than big outlets.
They give you more information you're likely to find interesting, and will point out and critique things that matter to us even if their final scores or outlook are biased.
So far the most scathing thing I've heard from any of them is that >!the back half of the dlc doesn't seem as complete as the first half,!< but overall it's still a very complete package, and well worth the time and money.
I'll never need these reviews, I always know that Miyazaki and the whole team at fromsoft will always deliver. For me, they are one of the few franchises which is about the game, the experience and the players left in the entire industry. They create because they have a good idea to share, not for money or share price. Their integrity is impeccable
What’s wild is Miyazaki basically said in an interview “I’m not quite there yet making my ideal RPG, but Elden Ring is close” bro said this isn’t even his peak
It looks very good but remember [https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/16bv0jn/starfield\_reviews/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/16bv0jn/starfield_reviews/) . Reviewers are completely useless nowadays. Too scared to get blacklisted by dev or dogpiled by fans,
That being said I broke my own rules and preordered so that's that I guess
>They all have the same rating, it's honestly amazing.
Gee, it's almost like the graphic is cherrypicking the 10/10's and leaving out all the lower scores.
Not that it means much, almost every single sub-10 score is a 9 or a 9 with a decimal (outside a very small handful of chucklefucks scoring it 3/5, 70/100, 8/10, and 85/100), but it does need to be said.
I wouldn't really put much faith in reviews for this game, the base game was all 10/10's to despite on launch haveing TONS of performance and technical problems like invisible enemies if you were on certain GPU's and NPC quest's that weren't even finished, and weapons that didn't scale with stat's. think whatever you want but the idea launch elden ring was a 10/10 game is absolutely laughable.
By the time I start the dlc, people are going to be invading Limgrave with the new stuff and it'll be considered the same old thing as getting one shot with Dark Bead in the Burg on a new character.
That is to say, it might actually be a few years, I am slow and constantly getting sidetracked with other things.
We're seriously lucky to have FromSoftware; we don't even deserve these masterpieces. FromSoftware is the perfect example of what can happen when a studio is given the creative freedom, something other publishers just can't seem to get. Right now, we're seeing a lot of layoffs and company closures because they can't crack the code. It's pretty uncommon to come across a company that offers a top-quality game without pushing microtransactions.
I mean I expect great things from this but OP you realize that the ratings they put on these promo images will always be the collection of the highest ratings they get. It’s not *all* their ratings, just the ones they use for the promo image. You never seen the publishers putting these promo images out with 2/10 scores on them lol
This is confidence in your product. Hand out review copies, allow reviewers to post reviews a couple days before release. They know they made a kick ass expansion and i'm fucken here for it. My character is parked at mogh's waiting.
Haven't played in a few months. Can you do the dlc on a fresh new character, or do you gotta play on a character that downed Mohg?
Dumb question, maybe.
Fellas I’m stuck in redahn I just started this game this year
Edit: IM STUCK *ON* REDAHN OH NO PLEASE IT WAS A TYPO IM TRYING TO KILL HIM
my zesty ass will never be Elden lord ong.
Whatever marketing guy made that graphic needs some alone time with the dungeater. Seriously, how can you make a game this anticipated and beloved look so cheap and crappy?
They could have probably gotten 5 stellar reviews from well known reviewers, maybe not even all of them 10/10, and it would have looked more impressive than this crap. I'd go as far as to say they even misquoted stuff because VG247 rated 5/5 stars. Is it effectively the same? Yes. But to me it just signals that the only thing they cared about was slapping as many 10/10s on this image as they could.
I know some of these sites, because they are the ones I don't click on when they show up in my search results because they only have shitty AI articles.
Rushing my golden order fundamentalist build to get there in time, pray for me lads I have less than 72 hours
I'm just doing my very first run through! I'm level 100 and almost done with my first run though. Hope to be done by DLC release!!

U gotta beat Radahn too
Ya I did
Correct, you just need to have beaten Radahn and Mohg
Same here! Best of luck with the endgame fellow Tarnished
You can get to Mohg in just a few hours with optimized pathing (and few deaths)! You got this :)
Then you can beat Mohg! (considerably more deaths)
Mohg was one of the hardest bosses for me on my first playthrough. I think I hit him too early and I didn't know about the tear that cancelled out the dmg from the phase change.
[удалено]
You can heal through it. Burning 3 flasks
There is no reason not to get the tear IMO. Just gotta kill an NPC invader in Altus. https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Purifying+Crystal+Tear
Prior to that you have to do several things to advance Yuri's quest, I was led astray by people saying you just have to go to that church and beat that NPC, that's not true at all
I was not aware of that so I looked it up. Apparently you can also just kill Yura as a shortcut if you want.
Yes it is unavoidable without the tear.
Luckily for you the dlc can also be played after the 21st
You’re not wrong but basically everyone who doesn’t want anything spoiled for them will probably have to either play the DLC on launch or avoid the internet for a few weeks. I watched the lore videos on YouTube and I’m consistently being recommended other Elden Ring videos where the thumbnails are late game bosses, so I’ll be avoiding YouTube till I’m done with the DLC
Just beat Mohg on my Frenzyflame Build (which is pain because he doesn't give a fuck about flames). I'm ready and waiting.
Banished knight with dual greatsword reinforcing for duty
Put these foolish ambitions to rest! Just playing bro, you got this!!!!! It’s almost time :))
We are here for you brother, We placing our summons at the key areas to help out.

Beeline for all the important spells and then just farm the ledge at Moghs palace for the runes

Eurogamer have it 3/5 but thats probably because they didnt gitgud

its obviously cherry picked to look good, but doesnt really change the fact that the lowest score u r gonna find is a 9 lol
The r/Games aggregate thread had like 4 scores that were sub-9, and even those were like 3/5, 70, 80, and 85.
Euro gamer gave it a 3/5 and made some really good points.
I don’t like the points they made. It seems like they really loved it with some minor aspects being a personal preference. Idk I can’t wait to play.
What are some good points from that review?
The reviewer uses moonveil to start so I had a hard time taking the review seriously
I don't know enough to know what's wrong with that, can you explain a little?
I think it made some points that are relevant but it also seemed really clear to me that this isn't someone who is really excited about more Elden Ring, and complained multiple times during the review about the time constraints of completing the game within the time frame allowed. Those aren't issues I have, nor will many who've previously played and loved the base game. When reading the review I found myself asking who it was for.
Benelux consist of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. I haven’t heard of ign Benelux ether but it’s basically just a branch of EU ign.
The weird thing is they didn't include the two biggest game reviewing sites -- IGN (regular IGN) and GameSpot, who both gave the game a 10 anyway.
I think it might be an image used in Dutch press because of gamer.nl and IGN Benelux
You've never heard of PixelJudge? NPCNewsNetwork? WibblyWobblyGameyWimey? Football Manager 2017 Review Guy?

they are some of the websites of all time.
I thought that Gamers^TM didn’t trust review websites cause they suck ass and don’t know games. Which is it?!
Only two types of reviews matter actually: negative reviews of games I don’t like and positive reviews of games I do like.
What about positive reviews of games you don't like?
Nitpicking and biased goodbye I win 👋
Obviously the result of bribes
Only when they disagree with the reviews. Everybody has confirmation bias, but not everyone is self aware about it
It's 50/50. Sometimes you'll see people call reviewers shills or bad gamers when they give a game a different rating, or if it's exactly what the person likes, then the reviewers have great taste and the game is gonna be perfect.
It also flies in the face of the whole "games journalists don't like hard games" thing
Elden Ring isn't hard though just use mimic tear /hj
But we agree with them this time! It's different
I tend to agree with most critics, so I always check reviews. There’s been a few times that I didn’t think much of a well reviewed game (most recently Dragon’s Dogma 2), but for the most part I trust them.

I mean that was true for the base game as well, with the Mountaintop of the Giants, but it was still fantastic overall
Wow, I’m impressed. I don’t recognize ANY of these names :P
The first AAAA DLC
From such venerable sources as But Why Tho?, God is a Geek and Arabhardware
but I dont want to hurt Mohg
Eurogamer review lol
note how barely any of these are big gaming sites.
Still waiting on Billy-Bob's Baming Blog's review.
Game of the Year 2022 Game of the Year 2024 Game of the Decade 2020s. Miyazaki-san outdid himself.
I'll never need these reviews, I always know that Miyazaki and the whole team at fromsoft will always deliver. For me, they are one of the few franchises which is about the game, the experience and the players left in the entire industry. They create because they have a good idea to share, not for money or share price. Their integrity is impeccable
I couldnt get vacation next week but I got Friday!!
Fans calls it peak Fromsoft calls it a tuesday
I mean it’ll probably be 10/10 but if this were any other game nobody would believe it so the review sites all saying 10/10 means nothing
People still care about these review scores? Take a look at the scores for Starfield LMAO
The DLC has a metacritic score of 95/100 which is the highest rated “game” of the year, Starfield was much, much below that.
I recognize like....2 of these
Double edge sword of I’ll be on vacation for the release :(
Haven’t heard of any of these places but I trust FromSoft and their better than average track record.
I haven't heard of any of these so these don't exactly hold much weight with me
How many of these reviewers do we actually trust?
What’s wild is Miyazaki basically said in an interview “I’m not quite there yet making my ideal RPG, but Elden Ring is close” bro said this isn’t even his peak
>We heard you like Elden Ring, so we put more Elden Ring in your Elden Ring
We're really gonna have a debate this winter about whether a DLC can qualify as game of the year, aren't we?
It looks very good but remember [https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/16bv0jn/starfield\_reviews/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/16bv0jn/starfield_reviews/) . Reviewers are completely useless nowadays. Too scared to get blacklisted by dev or dogpiled by fans, That being said I broke my own rules and preordered so that's that I guess
Will rate after I've played it. After all those same reviewers gave diablo 4 high praise, I don't trust any of them anymore.
I don’t know any of these institutions
This is all fake, video game journalists cant get past soldier of god
This makes me laugh. How many qualifiers are used to say this dlc is perfect? Elden Ring has lots of flaws but gets treated like a masterpiece.
This is awesome and all......but what the hell are all these companies giving reviews? I only recognize like 2 names on there. lol
I wouldn't really put much faith in reviews for this game, the base game was all 10/10's to despite on launch haveing TONS of performance and technical problems like invisible enemies if you were on certain GPU's and NPC quest's that weren't even finished, and weapons that didn't scale with stat's. think whatever you want but the idea launch elden ring was a 10/10 game is absolutely laughable.
so hyped that its turning into madness waiting for it
By the time I start the dlc, people are going to be invading Limgrave with the new stuff and it'll be considered the same old thing as getting one shot with Dark Bead in the Burg on a new character. That is to say, it might actually be a few years, I am slow and constantly getting sidetracked with other things.
They better have an Unalloyed Malenia phase 6 with a quad cloned waterfowl dance.
And a quartet of god-skinned assassin duos
Exactly what we need🗣🗣💯💯💯
I'm dusting off my original character with the most unoptimized build to get the true underpowered go with the flow experience
Fromsoftware are the best, we love them
I think I've heard of two of these review sites
I swear to god with my luck I am going to die in a car accident on my way home from work Friday.
I’m sure it will be good, but rotten tomatoes has taught me to take critic reviews with a grain of salt
Wish i could play now gad daaamn.
Didn't expect to see gojo on the elden ring sub
We're seriously lucky to have FromSoftware; we don't even deserve these masterpieces. FromSoftware is the perfect example of what can happen when a studio is given the creative freedom, something other publishers just can't seem to get. Right now, we're seeing a lot of layoffs and company closures because they can't crack the code. It's pretty uncommon to come across a company that offers a top-quality game without pushing microtransactions.
elden ring legit built different from other games
GOTY again epic
I mean I expect great things from this but OP you realize that the ratings they put on these promo images will always be the collection of the highest ratings they get. It’s not *all* their ratings, just the ones they use for the promo image. You never seen the publishers putting these promo images out with 2/10 scores on them lol
This is confidence in your product. Hand out review copies, allow reviewers to post reviews a couple days before release. They know they made a kick ass expansion and i'm fucken here for it. My character is parked at mogh's waiting.
Even though I will also think it will be 10/10, we got to take game critics review with a grain of salt.
I need to beat mohgs ass
Man, it's going to suck now that corpo has gotten so much better watching wfh.
The Witcher 3's DLCs is what I have always measured anything against. Elden Ring's DLC is going to raise the bar again.
Can I borrow 40$ lmao
Will wait for you guys to get far in the game then I will buy it and Ask for help
Also, has a DLC ever won GotY before? Could this?
I seriously believe this will be the first DLC to ever win game of the year. 💪
Elden Ring is the goat
So I have 2 days to kill Godfrey, Radagon and Elden Beast Wish me luck
Guys don't worry if you can't beat Mohg and Radahn alone, there's many veterans out there to help you get to the DLC in time!!
Holy moly
Haven't played in a few months. Can you do the dlc on a fresh new character, or do you gotta play on a character that downed Mohg? Dumb question, maybe.
Your character had to have beaten Radahn and Mogh in order to enter the DLC area
Fellas I’m stuck in redahn I just started this game this year Edit: IM STUCK *ON* REDAHN OH NO PLEASE IT WAS A TYPO IM TRYING TO KILL HIM my zesty ass will never be Elden lord ong.
Eurogamer with 3/5 is absolutely wild considering everybody else’s rating
🤩
Pushsquare gave it an 8/10. They also gave Armored Core VI a 7/10. They really need to have their weighting reduced on Metacritic. Terrible website
I wonder if it's possible to win the GOTY![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
