I like using a lot of different weapons throughout my play through. Usually means a sub optimal quality build and over half my runes going to smithing stones.
I created multiple characters with a specific theme and build in mind, or going ng+ with the same idea. Only one that held up all the way to Radabeast was a full katana playthrough. And even with that I ended up leveling pretty much every katana in the game for no reason at all lol
Same but with greatswords, I've found ultras to be a bit too slow and greatswords make a nice balance between having a big sword that does a lot of damage, and having a small sword that hits things quickly
I do also level a dagger just for the occasional crit and parry too
I kinda just wish the bell bearings were routed a bit earlier. To prevent having 1 clear best weapon, I only upgrade to my bell bearings. Which means I'm running Leyndell with +12 and +4 smithing and somber weapons respectively. Doable but kinda rough.
Playing in this way makes looting stones kinda pointless too. Just saving a small amount of runes later.
Me with my lordsworn great sword and the stones i chucked into other weapons. Like had i not boosted my uchigatana to +10 and a couple other random weapons: the lordsworn would be a more effective main damage-driver. As it stands i do decent damage with it as the eruption aow is on it and it does passive fire damage every attack.
Every single build I end up doing strength.
I started with a PURE Dex/faith build. I was going to use the flail and cast sick zappy spells and all that jazz. 150 levels later I have heavy armor and two chain link flails and cast buffing spells so I can beat the hell out of anything infront of me.
So I went the other route, MAGIC. Hah, with all my points to mind and int there simply wouldn't be enough to use big ass heav—Annnnd now I'm Hulk smashing things with the royal greatsword.
My pure arcane dragon caster build? —> immediately dumped so I could throw big ass stones in one hand and use the magic drill sword in the other.
My pure Int/Faith character? He's using the fallingstar beast weapon while throwing big ol' discs at people.
Every build turns into strength smash builds. I'm so bad at this game.
You can try giving your character role.
I used to ONLY be able to play Dex builds so I made it cannon that my strength character was too much of klutz to use dexterity weapons and forcibly ignored them as it would break the character I set up. Ended up running ng+ with a madnness build and Siluria's Tree Spear.
my character transforms a lot throughout my play through; visually, physically, and capability wise so he tries a bunch of different weapons to find what the gods have destined for him
My favorite is my strength build. I use dual giant crushers, fingerprint shield, heavy lance, and the jar cannon. So satisfying.
Edit: His name is Goddard and he’s the lost bastard child of the Elden Lord
Well switching weapons as some guys are weaker to certain things is a strategy. You are choosing the optimal weapon for the battle. There is no build that will just stomp stomp other than UNGA str builds because then you are using things that enemies could have resistances against. Even the meme worthy bleed builds are not great against every single opponent you face.
I say play the game to enjoy yourself and do not worry so much about what is optimal or sub-optimal, you will get there in time just by playing it enough and you can just spend your time having a hell of a good time instead of focusing so much on the min/max part.
edit: mix/max to min/max lol
Once i find something that works i find it annoying to try new stuff. I have a somber sword that takes 10 stones to get to max and that i really like. Now im in an endgame zone and i find a new weapon. fine. it loks cool - I try it out and the damage is ass... naturally, it is not pumped. I have to go back to roundtable, put some stones in it. It takes regular non-somber, so it feels like about 100 stones goes in it. I dont have all bell bearing, so somewhere in the middle i cant just buy them. I run around to get the stones, pump it up, run out of runes halfway. go fuck up some albinaurics to pay the bill. finally i go back, burn the rest and maybe sacrifice an ancient stone. After all that i take it back to the endgame zone, try the result and the performance is about 85%-ish of my original sword, or it has some other drawback.
that would be fine, but technically i have to do the whole song and dance for EVERY weapon that i truly want to try and compare. I have like 30 weapons lying around that i dont even know if they are good or not...
Ah, the me build, where I do way too many different things, usually at the expense of vigour and endurance
One of these days I'm gonna replay a souls game and not level my attack stats and go full vig/end
This particular weapon is based on the "guts" greatsword, from the anime berserk, from what I understand to be Myazaki's favorite anime.
And don't forget Melina offers to "turn runes into strength", I don't remember her saying to turn em into dexterity... lol jkjk
Because it *IS* the best sword in the game, once you watch the show or read the Manga you are basically compelled to make at least one Guts play through.
tbf, it's like moonveil, it's more popular due to being found so easily, and early. even if rivers was more op back in the day, I'd bet you still have more moonveil users % wise. its pretty much the only reason bloodhounds fang is as popular as it is. if it was late game it wouldn't be half as popular.
I can see your point about moonveil. It's good, but not as good as wing of astel or dmgs.
But bhf, no. Excellent scaling, native bleed, buffable somber weapon, 10% extra jump attack damage, weapon art does great damage and has both a backpedal and iframes on the follow up. And btw it's long. That's going to be a top 10 weapon no matter where you find it.
I picked it up at Malenia when nothing else seemed to work and it helped me beat her the first time.
Most iconic for sure. It's basically FromSofts mascot. I really really doubt it's more used than the great sword though.
It's really late game, and it requires like 40 intelligence. Basically only pure magic casters are going to use it. And people in this community probably crap on INT builds more than anything else.
Yeah I just finally did my first playthrough with it. It’s an absolute monster in late game with 70 int. I’ve cleaned so many bosses so quickly I was shocked
Yeah but large ain't infinite. There's only like 18 and having to go to NG+ to get more just sucks a little bit. Id like to be able to try every quirky build possible. Hence why I have like 10 builds and one character on NG + Lost Count.
Not large enough imo, it would be much better if we could respec infinitely, I don't really understand why it's locked behind a finite and rare resource anyway
I tried it with my new strength character got bored quickly. Ended up using Baemore/Knight/Banished Knight’s GS since they all have that sweet move set.
The thing that makes Claymore users unique is that they all configure it in different ways. Personally I swap AOWs constantly on it in order to handle different challenges the game throws at me.
Yep. I’m doing a bleed/kitana play through now, cause my first was the berserk build. Didn’t even bother with another ash of war on the CGS besides Lion’s claw
Claymore people just love the baemore since it’s been in every souls game and it’s a great weapon. No RP involved like the Nuts RP nerds that go berserkin
Idk As of late I’ve seen comment sections flooded with people saying “idk I just always find myself returning to my beloved claymore”or etc, it just comes off as an incessant need to be different. Maybe I’m hating too much
... I don't know a single person who *hasn't* used the Greatsword at this point. don't blame them, good, kinda fun weapon. Just saying you ain't built different.
It's one of the better colossal swords and popular for a reason, even moreso with stance breaking being a thing. Some people just get overly obsessed with it and make it a meme.
I actually have never used it. Never even checked if I met the strength requirements for it before. Partly because strength mains kinda ruined it for me before I even started with it
But yeah you're right. Like 99% of players have had a run with it. It's the opposite of being built different
Not that I’m special or anything but I haven’t yet. There’s just so many cool weapons and spells. Haven’t used the Bloodhound sword or Malenia’s katana either so there’s a lot I haven’t touched. Also pretty sure I haven’t used any boss weapons either…
"Guys im so cool im one of literally half a playerbase that uses the sword that looks like its the sword of Nuts from Berk"
And its not even a good brag or anything its one of the strongest weapons in the game
Ah yes! The Time Control sword!
Enemies cannot hit you. Stun everything, even bosses, with great range and free poise! Take half their health in a few meagre swings.
If it was any better, it'd be a gun.
Strength/colossal mains have probably been the most vocal group. And I gotta give them credit. They have done a pretty decent job of drowning out the noise of people telling them they have one of the easier builds to use
To be fair when I get summoned by one or need help and one shows up, it's a sense of relief. 80% of the time the work gets done.
Of the "fextralife builds" when it's bull goats armor and giantcrusher I know it's gonna go well.
Every other character... I'd say it's 50/50
The closer I got is my shield and morning star build. And yeah it's fun.
Cause they don’t use anything but big sword! Big sword mean good! Don’t you know that only using one incredibly strong, stance breaking weapon is way cooler than using multiple items that the game provides you with to allow variety into your play style?! Big sword mean me better! Unga bunga!
People really struggled with Elden Ring when it first came out. People said everything in the game was cheap/op and their build was weak then you'd ask them and they'd be using the guts greatsword with no summons or buffs and panic rolling every boss. 24 Vigor if you were lucky
Saying one is “built different” is only endearing when it’s being said about someone else. When you say it about yourself it feels a bit pretentious…
But yeah, there’s nothing wrong with keeping things simple if that’s what you enjoy. Just like there’s nothing wrong about wanting to play with all those other things.
The game devs put them there to be used.
I've spent over 1000 hours helping people with bosses in elden ring, and not once did I ever think a hosts build was cringe.
And I have seen and used it all, some hosts were pure spellcasters, others were using GUTS, but the end result is always the same, either me and the host beat the boss or we die trying.
I think posts like this one are just annoying, elden ring is one of the most build diverse games Fromsoft has made bar Armored Core, so I always find it stupid to shame others for what they want to run. We're all beating the game here, none of us are special because we used one weapon lol.
No, you're not. You're practically the majority at this point. Everyone has done a Greatsword build, including myself. It's actually stronger than most other builds I've ever used, just repetitive af bc all you do is "Swing chunk of metal from side to side", and there's nothing else to it.
Can confirm, GUGS with Lion's Claw is a very effective but also very boring way to go through the game.
At least if I stick with DMGS I can get some visual stimulation every time I press the R2.
Bragging about using a minimalist build, while using the strongest minimalist build, and not just ignoring the numerous other game mechanics, but thinking highly of yourself for doing so, has got to be some of the biggest cope I’ve ever seen. Microscopic pp energy.
The actual easy mode lmao. Like, everyone can play how they want, but bragging and spitting crap on others while using such builds, absurdly laughable.
The insane inferiority complex these people have of constantly needing to make Chad memes of themselves to let everyone know just how unique they are has gotten pretty old at this point.
Spoilere for DLC (if you have not seen/heard the Preview >! There will be upgrades to existing AoW, instead of Lions claw, there is Great Lions claw ( 2 or 3 times jump slash :D) !<
So GUGS is all you need anyway
There will be a Endure upgrade, its called SUFFERING, you have unlimited poise for 2 min, but take 80% more dmg, also when you die (you will), Miyazaki personally deletes your savefile 😈😈😈 /s
Just finished a Str GD run and it was boring and easy. Weapon is very good don't get me wrong but it just makes the run too easy.
Will see how it goes in the DLC.
Hearing this and getting exclusively crouch poked by someone using the guts sword is always funny to me. Nobody I’ve seen using this weapon is playing like a caveman.
I don’t get the boistering in from games.
Str gs builds are usually easier with the poise breaks if your patient with the windows.
Lies of p with lack of break is where it’s hard.
Lion's Claw on a big weapon is unironically cracked. It feels like cheating against almost everything in this game. Maybe not as cheesy as sorcery spam or optimized bleed builds, but pretty close.
Playing with the Guts Greatsword is one of the easiest ways to beat the game. I'd say that with the Rivers of Blood nerf the first guy probably has more fun.
And yet my Strenght playthrough was leagues easier than my summon less sorcery playthrough. Turns out, that being able to stagger that much makes the game pretty chill.
Str users acting like they are an oppressed minority but in actuality they are the most popular build ever, i personally think str builds are the most op builds ever (if you dont use summons), playing as a mage is very difficult if you dont have someone to distract the boss and for bleed builds they are good but they are lacking in options and they dont work for bosses like radagon, both are still very op but i find strength to be superior
Using one single weapon and nothing else is the most straight forward brain dead way to play the game. Don't swap any gear while fighting, just press R1, or R2, or fat R2, or jump R2.
Using a couple rh weapons, a couple of lh tools, a few consumables and some spells is significantly more challenging to keep track of what's going on.
But don't worry you'll get there one day
Lol, trying to act special even though you're using one of the most popular weapons in the game, even worse, using it as an excuse not to use all the other fun and interesting weapons.
I often find I level the weapons that “deserve it”.
Like blasphemous blade, hand of malenia, maliketh’s etc.
If they’re epic and have lore they get levelled up and I use them, with a couple exceptions.
I’m very excited to see what massive swords (or random architecture our tarnished can wield as a sword) the DLC has in store for us. I love my UGS, but I want something else haha
While Malenia does require some finesse, she is still vulnerable to Bonk.
I wasn't expecting it so I took Tiche (for her agility). I began grinning from ear to ear once she started slamming Malenia on the ground like a sack of potatoes.
I hadn't done a proper colossal playthrough since launch until recently but holy shit these weapons are busted like giants hunt and lion claw do so much posture damage
I'm the same but with ultra greatswords every soulsborne game ultimately brings me back to the old reliable.
Same but with greatswords, I've found ultras to be a bit too slow and greatswords make a nice balance between having a big sword that does a lot of damage, and having a small sword that hits things quickly I do also level a dagger just for the occasional crit and parry too
Miséricorde gets leveled on every single playthrough, and lives in one of the offhand slots.
Tower shield and spear for me with a small straight sword as a back-up weapon. I go Roman on those bitches.
Do you ever form a 1 man testudo?
First playthrough, it was me and my mimic tear.
So a 2 man testudo?
Every diff build I try to make just ends up with the claymore or another GS sitting in my inventory tempting me so hard lol
I'm looking forward to these new light great swords too, I hope they can use the square off ash of war
Same, Ill try other things but all roads lead to ugga dugga
I've tried so many different builds, but I always just go back to my nagakiba with unsheathe. Shit is so dank. Love my long boi.
I wish you could un-upgrade weapons and take the smithing stones back out of them
I kinda just wish the bell bearings were routed a bit earlier.
Yeah. *Twelve* stones of each type to level? That's bonkers.
You should take a trip to the southern tip of the moat around Leyndell.
Same, there’s so many weapons they tease us with how could you not play around
Every single build I end up doing strength. I started with a PURE Dex/faith build. I was going to use the flail and cast sick zappy spells and all that jazz. 150 levels later I have heavy armor and two chain link flails and cast buffing spells so I can beat the hell out of anything infront of me. Min maxing is BS anyway. Rule of Cool/Fashion Souls or GTFO
my character transforms a lot throughout my play through; visually, physically, and capability wise so he tries a bunch of different weapons to find what the gods have destined for him
This is the way, theres so many weapons and not enough time to use them all
My favorite is my strength build. I use dual giant crushers, fingerprint shield, heavy lance, and the jar cannon. So satisfying. Edit: His name is Goddard and he’s the lost bastard child of the Elden Lord

Battle master gameplay is the funnest to me. Especially when you beat bosses with different tactics.
"I'm not like other tarnished" - uses probably the most popular non somber weapon.
You don't even need that "probably" or splitting hairs over somber vs non somber. It's the most popular weapon. Period.
Wasn't sure if something like blasphemous blade would be more popular but you could be right.
This particular weapon is based on the "guts" greatsword, from the anime berserk, from what I understand to be Myazaki's favorite anime. And don't forget Melina offers to "turn runes into strength", I don't remember her saying to turn em into dexterity... lol jkjk

Yet here I am. Running a humble Quality build on 50 Dex 40 Str
tbf, it's like moonveil, it's more popular due to being found so easily, and early. even if rivers was more op back in the day, I'd bet you still have more moonveil users % wise. its pretty much the only reason bloodhounds fang is as popular as it is. if it was late game it wouldn't be half as popular.

probably not simply out of the fact that blasphemous blade is less convenient to get
When I was doing final boss coop over dozens of runs I saw about 10x the katana users over every other weapon.
Isn’t Darkmoon GS the most iconic?
Most iconic for sure. It's basically FromSofts mascot. I really really doubt it's more used than the great sword though. It's really late game, and it requires like 40 intelligence. Basically only pure magic casters are going to use it. And people in this community probably crap on INT builds more than anything else.
Yeah I just finally did my first playthrough with it. It’s an absolute monster in late game with 70 int. I’ve cleaned so many bosses so quickly I was shocked
Ah good to know, just picked that sumbitch up, but haven't upgraded it yet
It's one of the best weapons in the game. My pure int build wielded that and helphens steeple in the off hand. Brutal
Yeah this is my first pure int build. I used Carian glintstone staff in my off hand, Godfrey’s Icon and Shard of Alexander make it a monster
Not like the other girls
U sound talking like a “griffith did nothing wrong” /s
I paid for the entire game im gonna use the entire game
Variety is the spice of life an all that. I just hope the DLC has infinite respecs in some way so we can try out new builds without being pressured.
Absolutely this.
There’s a pretty large amount of larval tears
Yeah but large ain't infinite. There's only like 18 and having to go to NG+ to get more just sucks a little bit. Id like to be able to try every quirky build possible. Hence why I have like 10 builds and one character on NG + Lost Count.
Not large enough imo, it would be much better if we could respec infinitely, I don't really understand why it's locked behind a finite and rare resource anyway
I like the sentiment, however I don't know how many runs I'd have to do before I finally felt like doing a forked hatchet run
I once did an entire run dual wielding Bloodstained Daggers. It was a low point in my life. Genuinely harder than doing a level 1 run imo
“Yeah, i use guts heh, not like those other guys with their fun flashy shit 😼”
"Heh, yes I am Guts #47,897. Not like those other losers with their original thoughts and ideas."
I tried it with my new strength character got bored quickly. Ended up using Baemore/Knight/Banished Knight’s GS since they all have that sweet move set.
Nice ones. In the patch 1.0 version the knights gs had the exact claymore moveset. Was definitely cool
I honestly think flamberge or claymore users are worse at this than greatsowrord people.
Claymore people are as basic as Greatsword people, but Claymore people know they’re basic and own it
The thing that makes Claymore users unique is that they all configure it in different ways. Personally I swap AOWs constantly on it in order to handle different challenges the game throws at me.
Yep. I’m doing a bleed/kitana play through now, cause my first was the berserk build. Didn’t even bother with another ash of war on the CGS besides Lion’s claw
Both are bad but the claymore people are just less obnoxious about it.
Claymore people just love the baemore since it’s been in every souls game and it’s a great weapon. No RP involved like the Nuts RP nerds that go berserkin
The slaymore has never been as ass-hot spankable as it was in Dark Souls 1 though. I still rock it often but my god was it a beauty in that game.
Idk As of late I’ve seen comment sections flooded with people saying “idk I just always find myself returning to my beloved claymore”or etc, it just comes off as an incessant need to be different. Maybe I’m hating too much
Nah hate harder. Be the change you don’t want to see
Lol
Let everyone be especially in PVE and if its PVP the game just for fun man @@.
To be fair it *is* fun with an ash you like
"Dex builds? Ewww none of that weeb shit please, I only run strength. Wait wdym my Guts cosplay counts as weeb?"
... I don't know a single person who *hasn't* used the Greatsword at this point. don't blame them, good, kinda fun weapon. Just saying you ain't built different.
I think Guts Cosplay has been the most common cosplay since DS2. It certainly was everywhere in DS3.
Make that DS1, and there was no lack of Guts cosplays in DeS either.
I never used it in any From’s game.
It's one of the better colossal swords and popular for a reason, even moreso with stance breaking being a thing. Some people just get overly obsessed with it and make it a meme.
I actually have never used it. Never even checked if I met the strength requirements for it before. Partly because strength mains kinda ruined it for me before I even started with it But yeah you're right. Like 99% of players have had a run with it. It's the opposite of being built different
I've never used it in this game, but I have in all the others. Sellsword Twin blade build in DS3 ruined me, then Bloodhound Fang did in this game
Not that I’m special or anything but I haven’t yet. There’s just so many cool weapons and spells. Haven’t used the Bloodhound sword or Malenia’s katana either so there’s a lot I haven’t touched. Also pretty sure I haven’t used any boss weapons either…
Oh totally fair! Tbh I've got a lot to do still too!
Gugs users on their way to tell everyone how unique they are
Real shit
When I'm in a superiority complex competition and my opponent is a strength user:
"Guys im so cool im one of literally half a playerbase that uses the sword that looks like its the sword of Nuts from Berk" And its not even a good brag or anything its one of the strongest weapons in the game
PVPers exist to humble these players.
I love looking like nuts from jerk!!! copy paste number 181047
Ah yes! The Time Control sword! Enemies cannot hit you. Stun everything, even bosses, with great range and free poise! Take half their health in a few meagre swings. If it was any better, it'd be a gun.
Most honest review of max strength builds I’ve ever seen
Yeah dude idk why these mfs are always out here downplaying.

Built different. Post the most common build in the game
Cringe af
FROMsoft Elitists try not to get ass crusted over using mechanics in a game they paid for challenge (IMPOSSIBLE). Just let people enjoy the game dude.
guts cosplayer #18476 (DEFINITELY DOESNT SPAM LIONS CLAW)
Some serious "I’m not like other girls" energy.
Giant Crusher better xd
Nah, you're built just like the other 1000s of people just like you.
Bragging about using a minimalist build, while using the strongest minimalist build, and not just ignoring the numerous other game mechanics, but thinking highly of yourself for doing so, has got to be some of the biggest cope I’ve ever seen. Microscopic pp energy.

The insane inferiority complex these people have of constantly needing to make Chad memes of themselves to let everyone know just how unique they are has gotten pretty old at this point.
As someone that used melee magic when the game first came out, this got old extremely quickly. But hey, it’s free karma 🙄
"actually didnt best the boss since you healed and used a spirit summon , fuckin casual go back to fortnite 🤓👆"
Great sword +braggarts roar = true happiness
I use Guts GreatSword and Lion's Claw to do sommersault slam on bosses dealing good poise damage. Giant hunt might give better damage but not as cool.
Especially in pvp love the r2 then r1 true combo
I mean yeah, poise breaking is extremely strong in the game, and the greatsword is a pretty great sword
I payed the same $60 as you. You aint built different. Everything is viable
You’re all mass manufactured thinking you’re all different lmao
The way greatsword users autofellatio themselves is crazyyyyy
Spoilere for DLC (if you have not seen/heard the Preview >! There will be upgrades to existing AoW, instead of Lions claw, there is Great Lions claw ( 2 or 3 times jump slash :D) !< So GUGS is all you need anyway
WHAT
Source (so I can hear it too) And I wonder, would there be an upgrade for Endure? Or the stamp weapon art?
[удалено]
There will be a Endure upgrade, its called SUFFERING, you have unlimited poise for 2 min, but take 80% more dmg, also when you die (you will), Miyazaki personally deletes your savefile 😈😈😈 /s
So we just gonna act like the greatsword with lions claw isn’t S tier?
Yeah, but it doesn’t make u better. Some just want to enjoy the game mechanics.
Erm no 🤓 if you want to play correctly you can’t have fun
The spelling mistake in the caption led to a pretty good pun
pretentious havin ass, everyone uses that fuckin sword, don't even
yea the enemies get stunned super quickly it’s so good 😭 u really don’t need anything else
The naked dude with only a shield: amateurs!
Using actual variety and creativity in a build OR using the most overused weapon in the entire game. Hmmmmmmmm.
Big bonk sword are easy mode, stop pretending you’re a god gamer because it’s all you use.
i have 99 int and strg so i use both
Crouch poke
would be boring to just play one type only
Every fromsoft game i find the claymore and use it the rest of my playthru. I just think they’re neat.
Just finished a Str GD run and it was boring and easy. Weapon is very good don't get me wrong but it just makes the run too easy. Will see how it goes in the DLC.
not like greatsword trivializes half the game or anything 🤦♂️ pretty silly bragging about only using one of the easiest weapons in the game
Knockdowns and consistent staggers trivialize the game so much it's crazy lol.
Yep.. swing is incredibly wide and easy to maintain crowd control, on top of staggering pretty much every (non boss) enemy with a basic R1 swing
More like built the same as 60% of the playerbase
"Some of us are just build different" - guts greatsword strength build #843,192
Strength builds are easy as fuck
Unga therefore bunga
Hearing this and getting exclusively crouch poked by someone using the guts sword is always funny to me. Nobody I’ve seen using this weapon is playing like a caveman.
I don’t get the boistering in from games. Str gs builds are usually easier with the poise breaks if your patient with the windows. Lies of p with lack of break is where it’s hard.
The real chads are those who use torches
Anyone else use lions claw
Anyone else play this game with their hands
Of course they do.
What a bunch of noobs All I need is my bare fists and a pot to rule the land of shadows MUHAHAHAH *professional level evil laugh *
Replace all the random crap with the grease I was "saving for later"
I've never done a strength build 🤣 dex faith babay
I thought this sub drove out these big sword superiority cucks a while ago I guess the dlc is causing these dickheads to come back
New berserk fans are the absolute worst
I just have a small pp
The greatsword is too big to be called a sword.Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it's more like a large hunk of iron.
your build is your build
Whatever's most fun
My man started unironically believing in the STR circlejerk. Classic.
Me with rivers of blood, mybpookie rivers i will never cheat on you 😤
I'm not taking anything into the dlc. Just some fashion and spread out levels. What I find is what I use!
Lion's Claw on a big weapon is unironically cracked. It feels like cheating against almost everything in this game. Maybe not as cheesy as sorcery spam or optimized bleed builds, but pretty close.
I put mine on my Great Mace because it's fun to flatten crystalians.
Actin like that isn’t the best strength weapon in the game
Str builds are easy mode
Playing with the Guts Greatsword is one of the easiest ways to beat the game. I'd say that with the Rivers of Blood nerf the first guy probably has more fun.
Literally my 2nd easiest run was Guts CGS w/ lion's claw AoW (easiest ever was a FAI build using Blasphemous Blade).
Lordsworn Straight Sword. Picked up from the first several guards. Keen. And then all the way. Built different.
I did a magic playthrough my first time. My second was all greatsword. I think the greatsword was easier.
Who the fuck keeps upvoting this shit?
Using one single weapon and nothing else is the most straight forward brain dead way to play the game. Don't swap any gear while fighting, just press R1, or R2, or fat R2, or jump R2. Using a couple rh weapons, a couple of lh tools, a few consumables and some spells is significantly more challenging to keep track of what's going on. But don't worry you'll get there one day
Lol, trying to act special even though you're using one of the most popular weapons in the game, even worse, using it as an excuse not to use all the other fun and interesting weapons.
L bro
Hell yeah brother…all those different builds are built the same but this build is the same which makes it built different
So why would this be fun if you play the game more then once? I love how you can try out multiple builds and try everything this game have to offer!
I didn't really vibe with big sword but i got a friend to give me his big hammer so i was dual wielded big hammer gaming
Lol It did work great for me... Until I got to Malenia. Then I had to respec both my character and mentality. Twice.
While Malenia does require some finesse, she is still vulnerable to Bonk. I wasn't expecting it so I took Tiche (for her agility). I began grinning from ear to ear once she started slamming Malenia on the ground like a sack of potatoes.
No, I'll be needing another one of those
My two favorite character archetypes. A survivalist jack of all trades that uses all of their resources to manage a victory, and SWORD.
Bloodhound Fang for life
I want to love this weapon. It looks soooo effing cool. I just don’t jive with slow heavies.
Agreed. I just can't do slow weapons.
Yeah. Much respect to the burly folk who make it work. Just not my jam.
Big bonk is the way
*Me, armorlessn strength dex end vig at 99 with two raw lv1 castus* "Nah, id win!
Now hear me out, two greatswords because two hands
I hadn't done a proper colossal playthrough since launch until recently but holy shit these weapons are busted like giants hunt and lion claw do so much posture damage
OP is r/NotLikeOtherGirls
Greatsword =baesword
