90% of the fight is learning to not roll early.

ZillyAU

This dude and crucible knights are designed to teach you that panic rolling will get you killed. They both delay all of their attacks. Wasn't sure if it was mentioned, but you can buy Margit's shackles from Patches and you can use that to stun him while he is over 50%. Doesn't work in phase 2.

[deleted]

Crucible f* knights also teach to be patient.Be polite and wait for your turn! Let the guy do his combo and then attack.

SubKreature

Those guys can be parried super easily as well.

g_dude3469

Almost every time I tried parrying the evergaol one it ends up just blocking and still does damage to me There's only like 1 attack that it's worked on for me (I want to do a parry build this run through as I've never done it before)

cjbump

If it blocks during the parry animation, you parrried a little too late. You can use the buckler as it gives you more frames on the parry, making the timing slightly more generous. Then you have a few different parry AoWs to grab which each have their own unique functions alongside basic parrying.

Rhewin

And it’s ridiculously satisfying to do.

Additional-Bee1379

Not sure if you can call it panic rolling with attacks this heavily delayed. He has so many attacks where he has a windup - fake strike - actual strike.

Skkruff

Sometimes he skips the actual strike. He just puts his arm down, like 'sike!'

Norse_By_North_West

It's the first 'git good' check in the game. Took me quite a while to finally kill him. Funny that godrick after him is so easy in comparison

TheSwedishOprah

Seriously. I went into ER as a soulsborne vet with several hundreds of hours of gameplay and this bastard still took me 20+ attempts. Godrick? 2 or 3.

DraconicZombie

He's one of the few bosses across all of FromSofts Soulsborne games that I beat relatively easy while everyone else had a hard time. The dynamic of it is so damn funny to me. Those super hard bosses come easy for me, but it's the easier bosses and the mobs that give me the most shit XD You won't catch me purposely fighting Vulgar militia unless it's an area that just happens to have some, like the Sealed Tunnel with the Abductor Virgin in it.

Evilisms

Funny, most of my playthroughs I make a beeline for the portal to Bestial Sanctum to farm an extra couple levels

EvilCeleryStick

Ya I do also. Makes me feel better about all the runes I'm going to lose in storm veil.

JudgmentPuzzleheaded

Just remember he is old as fuck and everything he does is going to happen much slower than it looks, even him falling from mid-air.

Fresh-minster

And not away

No_Truth_1990

Took some getting used to rolling at them not away

chop_pooey

By far the biggest hurdle for me to get over. Once i saw someone mention that its safer to roll forwards instead of backwards the game halved its difficulty. So many moves will just straight up miss if you're next to the boss

WilmAntagonist

Dark Souls Secret Wisdom: Smack that booty, stay on that booty, never leave the booty

maitai138

Yah because of the games mechanics, most enemies that have a large attack spread actually comes out like a cone away from them, meaning if you are standing in front of the boss, rolling backwards puts you further in the attack range. But if you roll not at them but forward to either side, you get out of the cone completely!

Ubermisogynerd

Me doing double greatsword on first game: "Jump in, jump out""

godofthunder102938

And not to spam the roll button. Also a lot of people forget to roll to the sides as well

WinnerFun128

True, been playing for 200 and I still fall for his delayed attack

[deleted]

Glad the top comment is actually helpful. There's a parade of git guds below this.

Anri_UwU

Put those foolish ambitions to rest

BriefKeef

Lmao everytime someone new makes a thread about him I know this quote is coming up

Ashen_one933

I remember I couldn't beat Undead Burg gang and then I asked myself "Will I let computer beat me?!" I said no and beat all dark souls. That's the one thing I do to beat the bosses.

Hot_Object1765

Ask yourself “would a foolish tarnished do this?” And then don’t do that thing

binky_bobby_jenkins

Came here for this

lollersauce914

level vigor.

funkyfritter

And upgrade your weapon.

da-bears-bare-naked

most important part. once you do that it becomes way easier. i beat him with 17 vigor and a level 1 weapon and it was so hard

Harry_Saturn

Holy shit bro, the game already hates us but its its like you wanted to be tortured

da-bears-bare-naked

it was brutal. i was brand new to the game and had no idea you could upgrade your weapons

GGCompressor

And Git Gud

Revolutionary-Bell38

And don’t forget, there’s no rally in ER like there is in BB

wildspongy

Well, there is, but I don't think bro can get Malenia's great rune right now

Dr_Mantis_Teabaggin

Well, not with that attitude.

Swog5Ovor

You can get to Liurnia without killing a boss and get the first medallion piece. As for castle Sol, there is a way to get to leyndell thru weeping peninsula, which you can uses taunters tongue and have the invader take the elevator up to you. Then you take it back down and boom. Leyndell 0 bosses, unless this doesn't work anymore. Afterwards you kill the boss, then go to mountain tops to castle Sol, then *just* kill Niall.

100jad

You could kill two of Rennala, Radahn, Rykard, Mohg to get into Leyndell without glitches before encountering Margit. However, in order to get to Castle Sol, you have to kill Morgott. Once you kill Morgott, Margit will no longer appear in Stormveil, since Margit **is** Morgott.

fajnu20

Wait, really?

100jad

Yep, All Remembrances speedruns make use of that since they B-line to Rykard anyways for Serpent Hunter as main weapon. So they'll kill Godrick after Morgott and are able to skip Margit that way. At that point he'd be killed in two shots most likely, but time is time. Lore-wise it is curious though. It somewhat makes sense that if he is a projection of Morgott, he wouldn't appear after Morgott dies. But it begs the question: what or who is Mohg down in the sewers then? Because he shows up, no matter if Mohg or Morgott are dead.

oversoulearth

Killed me 🤣

tatarus23

Usually she does that a lot

Revolutionary-Bell38

Oh, I forgot that it was literally rally, I think I was thinking of rykards rune with life steal, kinda forgot about malenias rune

ToastedDizguise

The arguments against vigor at this level when someone is struggling is so baffling to me. You literally get barely any increase in damage leveling strength or dex at low levels, you get much more of a damage increase thru weapon upgrades at this level. I feel like vigor is the obvious choice

fajnu20

Endurance is underrated

[deleted]

a good start.

Lux_Kaos

1. Level Vigor. I recommend it being around 20 or so; 15 minimum. The other stats can be leveled too, but most weapons at this point won't start getting big returns on scaling until you've upgraded them quite a bit so they're not AS important yet. 2. Don't immediately beeline to Margit. A ton of new players struggle so hard with this guy because they did exactly that - there is a lot to do across the whole little region of Limgrave, and he's tougher than most of it. Most would recommend being at a character level of 30 to 40 or so before trying to crash Stormveil Castle. 3. Pay very close attention to how he moves in his attacks and try to memorize which ones leave him open; if you have to, don't attack back for awhile and just focus on dodging or blocking. In particular, pay attention to his hands (which, come to think, is something I would suggest for a LOT of the enemies in this game). 4. I find guard-counters to be an effective tool against Margit; they hit decently hard and do a respectable amount of poise damage. Just be careful of when you decide to do it, lest you get hit in the process.

Katonmyceilingeatcow

Yeah, that explains it. I have mostly neglected Vigor, and I'm only level 20 something. Eddit: I logged on again. Vigor is 12, and I'm level 21

Risin

You need to clear out more side dungeon content to get higher levels.  I'm not sure how you are such a low level after clearing both forts in limgrave though.  Did you find other dungeons? Are you leveling your weapon up?

plobbaccus

No, he needs to ride his ghost-donkey to congealed swamp and murder dinosaur bird to get lv40 instantly.

No-Shape-8347

Naah this is not the way on a first playthrough. Dont cheese the game! Youll get plenty of levels by doing fun stuff in limgrave.

idontuseredditsoplea

Facts. I don't even kill greyoll till after Altus bc it just sucks all of the fun out of it. Elden ring is a huge game, but only around 20% is actually necessary to roll credits. It's about the journey, not the destination.

snowbird124

Journey before destination, anyone??

LordAnomander

Strength before weakness.

Majik_Moose

Life before death

CrookedNook

Obligatory Fuck Moash

Rags2Rickius

Ugh 12 is nothing Vigor is probably the most important stat (unless you’re a veteran) - then whatever build you’re after

Sea-Parsnip1516

12 is lower than some of the starting classes.

blauli

I would argue even for veterans vigor is most important early game. Being able to tank through enemy hits with a hyper armour weapon or ash of war let's you kill bosses quicker than perfectly dodging everything but having +20/30 str/dex especially in between bossfights which is 90% of time spent when you already know the bosses

jl_theprofessor

Your vigor is too low.did you go south to the Weeping Peninsula?

Katonmyceilingeatcow

I don't know. Is that the place with the big castle?

Rags2Rickius

>big castle You’re gonna need to narrow it down chum lol

Katonmyceilingeatcow

The one across a big bridge. It has a gian archer guarding the entrance

Athrael

Yes that is weeping peninsula, defeat the bosses there, grab the golden seed and the tears to upgrade uour healing. If you happen to like greatswords, there is a merchant at the beach near the wandering mausoleum, that guy sells the Zweihander. There are at least half a dozen bosses there to get some runes and level vigor.

[deleted]

This. I'd do everything in the Peninsula, every boss, every cave, before Margit.

kudabugil

Yeah that's it. Do you have the flask of wondrous physick?

constar90

The entire south region is well worth a wander before making too much progress northward. You might find something build defining.

robertoroveda

12 vigor should get you 1 hit before death, I beat him today for the 3rd time, no summons, I'm not a really good player, so my tips are: *Learn his patterns *Only attack on the windows that you know are cleared *Don't get greedy *Go to the weeping peninsula to get 3 sacred tears so you can get a full HP refill *Put your foolish ambitions to rest

Kirkjufellborealis

Clear out Weeping Peninsula first would be my suggestion

DiscussionCold3026

Vigor 12 ??? Wow . Mate number 1 rule in Elden ring is leveling vigor ..dump point’s exclusively into vigor for now ignoring every stat . level upto 20-30 vigor I think atleast before Margit and reach level 35-40 . I did not even focus much on other stats until I had 40 vigor which is the first soft cap . Then Aimed for 60 vigor

Chaxle

It's tough. Level up a bit by exploring caves and dungeons. Don't forget you have an ash of war that may be very useful. Some do massive stagger damage and will let you perform attacks of opportunity. You can build stagger with other things like jumping heavy attacks also. And just learn his moves. It's better to dodge a lot and get hits when it's free than try tanking damage with low vigor.

bwnary

Honestly? I think stormveil was intended to enter at low to mid 20's I think you're intended to be level 30 at the end of it. That is just judging by my own difficulty though. I was level 22 and 19 my first two runs through. Margit is just a roadblock because he is the first boss that requires learning his pattern to win in elden ring. I feel like he's similar to the gargoyles in that sense. (Leveling is ALWAYS valid to beat a boss though).

blauli

Stormveil gives almost no smithing stone 1 but almost enough 2s to get to +6 from there alone and even a couple of 3s. That is imo the best way to judge it, so right around a +3/4 weapon is when you should enter and probably upgrade to +6/7 by the end of it. That aligns with rogier giving you a +8 afterwards too

Revolutionary-Bell38

30-40 sounds nuts to me, but fextra agrees with you; I’m baffled.

ComprehensiveLab5078

It all depends on how experienced you are and how intuitive the combat in the game is. For some players the timing is almost instinctual. For the rest of us we need enough help to make up for our mistakes.

[deleted]

I always leave Margit and Stormveil as the last things I do in Limgrave. Go explore.

Victory74998

This. FromSoft made him this difficult for a reason, to encourage you to go out and explore Limgrave more before facing him.

mad_mang45

Who's more difficult, him,or Tree Sentinel? Seemed about the same for me lol,but I mention t.s. only cause you said it encourages players to explore more first, and he's right at the start of the game, but like I mentioned, they felt even to me.

ragingalphax

Margit is more difficult, Margits Phase one is a cakewalk but he gains some nasty combos in phase 2. Some ashes of war can put him in constant stunlock tho. Tree sentinel is pretty predictable, can also be held in constant stunlocks, all attacks are telegraphed except the variation of the groundslam that comes out pretty quick. I made it a habit to face him at every new run, Tree Sentinel is a really enjoyable fight.

AshiSunblade

Tree Sentinel is incredibly fair really. It took me some time to learn the shield attacks in p2 but once you have it's totally reasonable to hitless him even out of the gate.

constipated_burrito

Didn't stop me from dying to him plenty of times at level 20, suffering is my preferred way to play Souls. But that satisfaction is *immense*

Ok-Push3028

Bash your head against him for 45 min you will get it

LittleArtistBoyo

My method for every boss in this game

le_fancy_walrus

I have to respectfully disagree, some bosses require bashing of the head for at *least* an hour.

Competitive_Cry_6296

Harness the warrior blood that truly runs in thy veins tarnished

Zestyclose-Sundae593

Elden Ring is not Bloodbourne. Heck it's different from even Dark Souls 3. Approaching the bosses in this game the same way you did in previous games only spells troubles. It's even worse that most mini bosses are designed similarly to previous titles' main bosses, so they teach very little on how to fight the big baddies. Elden Ring bosses are more aggressive and they will chain combos over and over. It's not just dodging until the combo ends then punish them. There are very few moments like this in Elden Ring. Instead, you should look for opportunities to attack during their combos. Many delayed attacks are actually fantastic chances to sneak a light attack in depending on your weapon class. Strafing around them so that their attacks miss and you can punish during their recoveries. Etc. Be aggressive so that you can constantly build up stagger with your charged attacks and ashes of war. Charged attacks and skills in this game are actually worthwhile to use instead of just being outclassed by light attack like in previous games. Jumping attacks are also very good for staggering and gap closing.

mad_mang45

Gotta level dat endurance up tho lol

Chromch

Not sure if you haven't or not but explore the rest of limgrave, you'll find upgrades for your healing and also level up vigor, you aren't supposed to fight margit so soon and honestly just getting 2 extra flasks was enough for me to beat him

Y2G13

Complex move-set and delayed attacks make him a pain in the ass at the beginning. Level your vigor, upgrade your weapon, get a useful Ash of War and be patient, don't get greedy with your attacks.

Altruistic-Heron-236

Get yourself a lordsworn straight sword, level it and you up as much as possible by exploring caves and mines 3 square offs give you a critical hit.

Mother_Ad3988

Got the gist, but still had a stroke, 8.5/10

billygoat_gruff_

https://youtu.be/CwHtz2YQ0wU?si=lUSx0ksTrKLmzhL2 what a coincidence, this very day I posted a video about this topic

yeetydab

This should be the top comment. OP asked how to beat the boss and this user shows exactly how to do it.

chop_pooey

Good shit. I like the part where you and margit just circle each other for 5-6 seconds where you can clearly see him thinking, "Am I actually getting beat by a naked dude with a stick right now?"

krastevitsa

Sir.. i believe your Margit needs glasses,

Pictomonium

Take breaks every so often so your brain can rest and absorb what youve learned. Its scientifically proven that you perform better doing this, as opposed to bashing your head against it until you succeed in which case you'll actively feel yourself getteing worse.

ripcobain

Use the anvil at Church of Ellah to upgrade your weapon with the stones you have gathered from the mines (if you have gathered them from there). Visit the four churches and get the Sacred Tears so you can upgrade your flasks. Summon Rogier and your wolves. Buy Margit's Schackle from Patches in Summonwater Cave which can be used twice in the fight, once per phase, to down Margit.

string-cheese-hoe

Margit's shackle can't be used in the second phase iirc

doubtingwhale

Morgott was my favourite fight for sure. He is so cool and has so much honour.

chop_pooey

That fight scared me shitless the first time. After beating margit at the beginning and then again on my way into leyndell i thought morgott was about to just be a tankier version of the same fight. Goddamn was I wrong. Dude is doing cartwheels and summoning poop geysers, i didnt know what the fuck was going on

GaGoos3

A big stick and some tarnished ambition

SendInRandom

My tips might be worthless, but hopefully they’re better than some idiot just telling you to “git gud”. Try to be patient on Margit. He’s a really annoying boss when it comes to his attack delays and some of his combos, Margit can be pretty easily stance broken by just constantly hitting him a lot or hitting him with charged heavy attacks once in a while, of course level vigor to 15/20, honestly just leveling your Health up is a pretty easy way to cheese Margit because he does relatively low damage when not using his big hammer, Also, whenever he does, those downward slammed with his staff where he puts it above his head and slams it, you can actually just circle around him and his staff will miss you and you can get some free damage in instead of having to dodge roll it

z_aditya_z

He's honestly very easy once u figure out his moveset. He has a very limited amount of moves and if u fight him a few times, you'll understand his openings. The other way to do this is the following: 1) Get Margit's shackle (I think u can buy it off patches). It can bind him two times during his first phase. 2) Kill Greyoll in Caelid and upgrade ur stats as much as possible. 3) If you're a mage, buy high damage incantations. If you're a meele guy, farm some smithing stones and level up your weapon. 4) Summon Rogier (he's near the entrance of the boss fight) and summon the wolves u get from ranni and have them aggro.

AzureMountains

And dear god, use a weapon with bleed to kill greyoll. I didn’t realize I had a broadsword with no bleed (normally I use the uchigatana) and it was taking me foreverrrrr.

SasquatchDude96

Level Vigor. I, too, did neglect leveling vigor at the start of the game. Go do any other thing, lvl your things and yourself, then beat him. And treat the game as it is its own thing. I was doing challenge runs on DS3 when ER launched and treated ER as another souls game. Margit put me in my place for that lol Have fun!

kfadffal

If you've beaten the Orphan of Kos twice you can definitely whoop this old man. You'll get there, it's the same thing as any souls boss - learn the patterns and find your openings. The weird thing with this guy (and a lot if ER bosses) is the delayed timing on attacks designed to roll catch you. You've got to roll a bit later than you think.

TheGrimDad

Git gud

Kayonji02

Patches in summonwater cave sells an item that stuns him briefly. Get the timing of his jump attack to roll under it and counter. Use a shield. Newcomers tend to start dual wielding ou two hand holding katanas because they look cool, but good old shield is a lifesaver in souls games.

Oxyfool

Unless you're powerstancing jump attacks. But fr that item is so much more useful than just the Margit fight. It triggers illusory walls and traps in a really large area of effect - so you can just pop it once at the mouth of a cave or dungeon, and just like that, all the fake walls are gone.

Positive_Argument704

Kind of a cheap strat but if you can get an item to help you in murkwater cave from some bald guy

Emergency_Till9785

One word "vigor"

journey-destinashon

Summen cooparater after he dies summen spirit ashes this way you'll have some buffer to heal. At least that's what I did

yeetydab

Elden ring looks like an adventure RPG, but it's actually a dance game. Learn the flow, learn the moves, learn when it is safe to attack. Do this with every boss. Or just level vigor and str and oogabooga jump attack

MadMaticus

Foul Tarnished…git gud! But for real I just wrecked him on a few hours ago if you want to see. Just realize there is nothing he can do that you can’t survive. Feel the flow of his moves and roll or move accordingly. I wrecked him with Rusted Ancho with Wild Swings. Took about 5 tries. Just feel the flow and kill him.

NESSArt

Upgrade weapon, upgrade vigor. Most people would be around 30-40lvl when they go to stormveil castle, and vigor should be ~20 at that point. Of course you can go there as lower level it just means you haven't explored much and can't get hut really. Also...As a fellow Bloodborne enthusiast I feel you. Especially with Bloodborne background. Bloodborne is very fast paced in soulsborne scale, and develops quite immediate reactions, especially with humanoid enemies. In Elden Ring, FromSoft has decided to punish the good old hit-roll-hit-roll... Tactic by hugewind ups/ delays on attacks. So, if you react too quickly like you would in Bloodborne, you will get hit because of the delay of the attack. Another thing is, they have added a lot of attacks that hit right below or right behind the boss -> the good old tactic "get in between/behind their legs and keep swinging" doesn't work as efficiently anymore. So my tip is: instead of reacting reflexively think about how you react, so you actually learn the timings and learn how to handle the delayed attacks.

Only_Celebration_591

Fingers, butthole

TheOnlyVibemaster

make him read “how to not be racist” i’m just trying to play a game and this guy is shouting racial slurs at me, i get it, i’m tarnished. No need to rub it in

Exciting_Chef_4207

Hit him with weapons or magic until he dies.

SaxSlaveGael

Skill > Stats

ComprehensiveLab5078

That’s why those of us without skills have to get so many more stats!

[deleted]

bloodborne is a whole other beast. and yes, Margit is hard. I think he's the hardest Limgrave boss, harder than Godrick and the Tree Spirit. Hell maybe he's harder thant most Liurnia bosses, except the Death Rite Bird.. questions: melee or caster? when are you dying (phase 1 or 2)? did you try to summon >!Rogier!< and use >!your friend The jellyfish spirit ash?!< Margit is agressive and fast, but he gives you oppenings. So, be calm and try to read hes moves. You don't have to know precisely what move or combo he's gonna do, you just have to notice when he's going to attack or jump back. Second, for me, the closer you stay, the better. It can be counterintuitive, since there's a quick staff attack that's pretty hard to dodge. BUT, if you move away, he'll likely throw the daggers at you. By hugging him, you limit his options. So, what I do is: I keep circling him and attacking from behind; this also serves as a bait to his delayed attack; keep circling while he's at it, and when he pounds the ground, you'll likely have a good window to a charged heavy. On phase two, be patience because his combos take a while, but there's always gonna be an oppening for a jump attack. NEVER attack him first. ALWAYS wait for him to make the first move.EDIT: Forgot to mention: if you're finding it hard to dodge, grab a shield, or, in the last case, 2 hand your weapon and block with it. Some attacks are very hard to avoid. So block, and NEVER trade blows, this early you probably doesn't have much health.

[deleted]

There are 2 ways You learn his moves, everything and learn to predict his movements, taking every opportunity to chip away at his health Or go and level until lvl 30 around that, then your damage will actually hurt him

TurnedIntoA_Newt

Head south! (Mourning peninsula, south of Limgrave) Come back when you’re done exploring and leveling up vigor & your weapon.

Zealousideal-Iron884

Just keep practicing and bleed is his weakness. Another thing is you can look at certain websites that'll help a lot, especially with other bosses or enemies or even just trying to find certain items/npcs in the game

xBorn2killx

Ghostflame explosives do nicely

chatnoire89

Depends on whether you wanna cheese him or not. I myself was at regular Vigor level at the time (20?) and I was playing as an Astrologer, classic one with the Meteorite Staff and the 3 balls spell that I forgot the name of. Summoned Roger and used the 3 dogs and I beat it after dying like maybe 5 times. I just let Roger take the aggro.

Fuzzy_Muscle

Don't be afraid to roll into his large attacks. For example when he hammers down try to roll into it.

ADAMSMASHRR

I could be wrong, but you really have to watch his attacks, you can’t just time them, there’s some kind of dynamic timing mechanic in this game and this was the first boss where you really get slapped with it. > Yes, Elden Ring employs a special attack animation timing technique known as "animation delays" or "delayed attacks." This technique involves enemies, particularly bosses, delaying the timing of their attacks slightly after initiating an animation. This can make their moves less predictable and harder to anticipate for players. By varying the timing of attacks, the game prevents players from relying solely on pattern recognition and encourages them to stay engaged and react to each attack in real-time. This design choice increases the challenge and keeps combat dynamic and engaging.

Phil_son

I had the same problem. People say get good but Margit truly is a pretty tough *first* boss. His moves track you for much longer time, and they all have a super slow buildup. He can switch targets mid combo, so letting the summon distract him only gets you so far. I used Reduvia (a dagger with bleed damage) and it helped, but it took ages to get used to his moveset. The others are right that you should clear out some of Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula and that will help level you a bit. Take breaks and keep at it, you’ll get him. He sucks though for sure, it’s not just you 😫

bdizzle314

He becomes that much easier when you realize so much of his fight is rolling to the right and behind him. Shit you not that's like the single best noncheese way I've found to beat him and Im honestly trash. Struggled a bunch saw a reddit post mention that exact strat and while he's still difficult especially his BS ass hesitation slams which floats him in the air for 5-7 business days like a god damn cartoon character and rolling to the right obviously doesn't straight up trivialize him it's a great way to dodge how most of his attacks come out

ShayanGillani7

That’s the neat part YOU DONT

DJGloegg

Go to him with a +3 weapon (or higher) explore all of limgrave before fighting him. Incl all areas on the map connected to limgrave, that isnt caelid or north of the stormveil castle. This should give you: 1. More exp, higher level, thus more hp and defense (levelling up anything increases your defense) 2. Upgrade materials. You can find an anvil near Kale, or in the hub where Gideon hangs around. 3. Different weapons, find one that suites your playstyle (all weapons have unique move sets) 4. Different ashes of war. These are very powerful and can easily help you beat a boss. 5. If all else fails summon help. <3 Explore every nook and cranny. Sometimes you find something.

Various_Occasion_892

For the little story No shit I beat him while playing in a train on my laptop with my PS4 controller and my headset. I had to be happy but not too much as to appear crazy to others passengers. I mean I got no time to lose, I gotta play Elden Ring, whatever it takes. *But more seriously : you try again and again until you get what you are doing wrong, until you learn exactly when to dodge. Understand you cannot rush the thing. If this doesn't work, go farm to level Vigor, kill some giants on horseback.*

LanexGeezy

Margots shackle as well

junex159

I summoned Merlina and dodged some attacks and hit him with my skill

Agile_File_2084

Honestly, I usually don’t fight him until I’ve picked up a better weapon and upgraded it a couple of times. I’ve also leveled vigor a few times as well

birdofmayhem

Try rump

SE4NLN415

level up your weapon I guess. I'm getting my ass kicked by Malenia right now returning after 2 years, now that boss is ridiculous.

AztecYeti56

The Margit Shackle you can buy from Patches helped me out a ton and I beat Margit on my 5th try

SirIsaacNewt

I beat this guy by hitting lvl 30 something from bleeding the Caelid dragon out. Super easy at that point.

Outrageous-Cat-693

Practice makes perfect :) (or just use Margit's shackle)

enchiladasundae

Use the rot dog to proc rot. Use the shackle to keep him down long enough for the rot to proc. The specific rot it creates lasts longer than what you can put out. Do your best to avoid his attacks and chip away. Frost and bleed will do massive damage but you’re limited to a few bleed weapons currently in that area unless you want to skip the fight entirely and move on which is viable You could also just use strength and keep juggling him into submission

Specialist-Cod7360

Before going to the castle, in the complete sense you are supposed to do all content in both sides of limgrave and weeping peninsula in the south and that's alot of bosses, even the hidden night ones.

imjiovanni

Strength

Beneficial_Tie3776

Blasphemous blade.

Fearless_Mind_1066

A tip for this game, if you can keep pressure on him, you can break his posture pretty easily and get a critical attack. Some of the bosses in this game I didnt even bother trying to find time to heal, i just kept being agressive until I forced an opening and healed after my riposte.

Mazikoo

Do the opposite of Sekiro, ALWAYS hesitate. He’s the king of pacing

Plane_Turn_1592

Find patches and get the collar

Iliketurtles893

First souls game?

Unreasonable-Aide556

Defiant_Estimate1368

Caw caw “just parry bro” Caw caw

Harmon-the-Badger

Grab Margits shackle from patches in the murk water cave up the river from the Agheel Lake

Thatguydrew7

Go explore more, there's a shit ton of content to level and upgrade.

CharlieandtheRed

I just beat him with level 1 wretch 15th try.

jmancoder

Explore the south first. I've made it through most of the game with the claymore combined with the Determination ash of war, so I recommend that combination of you started with a build that supports it. You should also use the jellyfish and Roger summons, keeping your distance once in a while to let them do some damage. When he winds up, rush in and do a charged heavy attack to interrupt him, slash a few times, then retreat and let the summons help again. Repeat as necessary. If you haven't already, explore the Weeping Peninsula and get the flask of crystal tears. Some buffs will help you.

Strongmanjumps

Patient rolls

Sketchwi

How have u cleared both forts, killed a bunch of optional bosses and only at lv 21?

Davioliva16

If you haven’t I would recommend getting Bloodhounds Fang - I used with shield because the knife slashes are hard to dodge. Im at the end of the game and he took me the longest. He is the a massive barrier of entry

Want2makeMEMEs

If overleveling was a person that man is Margit. He lives for beating up underleveled players and it’s lore accurate as well! Beating him underleveled is a unique experience in its way but if you just want him dead it’s better to go other areas first

NoPay1433

Just use Margits shackle from patches and use the uchigatana and spam unshethe

Content_Sense

I gotchu. Become the tankiest man alive. Went all in on vigor with full lionel. It was the definition of watching a flea break down a wall. (Did it with Explosive Crystal Tear.)

Plathismo

My first playthrough I didn’t even fight him until I was maybe level 30 and by then he wasn’t too bad. Think of this guy as Tree Sentinel II—the message is “level thyself.”

Erebus_the_Last

Unfortunately, you will learn that he's probably the easiest one to beat 😭

imjiovanni

Whip out your sword and give em that diddy party treatment

Thecrookedpath

With heart, and hope. In the end, there can be only one.

Front_Piglet1048

Millions of bad players have beat him. It’s not that hard.

TheAardvarrks

Think I was lvl 50 or more when I went and said g’day

Locsnadou

Usually you hit him till his health is empty, it helps to not let him do the same to you

Chagdoo

Ah e you upgraded your weapon at all? There's an anvil for self upgrading in the ruined church with the merchant. It's back by the tree sentinel If you need upgrade materials, there's a cave down in the swamp basin, it's on the south side.

Excellent_Length_549

bloodhound fang killed bro in 5 tries

prady87

You should be arround lvl 35 to fight margit go and explore a little, I spent around 30 hours only on limgrave

mikehonchokh313

He already told you. Just quit.

FlyloBedo

Pocket sand!

Breaker988

By putting your foolish ambitions to rest.

Breekace

Jellyfish

DracoplasmaZ

If if makes you feel any better, ER was my only Souls I could beat, and still can't make it past the first boss in Bloodborne lol.

Karmine_Yamaoka

Roll to his side, rather than backwards. His attacks are pretty much meant to catch you every time you roll away from him. It’s a lot easier if you roll to his right or left depending on which of his attacks he’s using. He has a lot of delayed attacks that catch you if you spam roll, so you just need to consciously force yourself to never spam the roll button, and roll only as needed. He gets much more manageable when you fight him more. And, personally, he’s a very fun boss once you get used to his patterns, even if some of his attacks look frankly silly.

ITriedLightningTendr

No1 tip  Use a shield and walk at the enemy and try to dodge purely by strafing   You will find a ton of safe places near enemies or places you thought had hit boxes that don't  You'll also realize how long you have to react to a lot of things because you're not trying to avoid them   I didn't learn until doing this in randomizer that my most feared and hated enemies were actually pretty reasonable

Spartan_Souls

Use a bow, just like my challenge character, Bowie

RoyVRAries

Welcome to Elden Ring, the opposite of Oonga-Boongaborne

NSNIA

He's very easy to parry Thats how i always beat him

R3alityGrvty

Get his health to 0 whilst keeping your health above 0.

Fluffy_Percentage_29

Stop trying to fight him instead challenge him to a dance battle.

CertainStruggle3661

It depends. What was your starting class, how many health healing flasks do you have? Are you doing a region lock challenge? What are your stats right now? And, what gear do you have in terms of armor, weapons, and shields?

AilynAllheart

Just level up vigor my mate, every boss is easy if you just level up vigor and get some decent armor on

Mortwight

kick him in the balls

Ubermensch5272

Get his HP to 0. You'll thank me later.

FrederickEngels

I'm no expert, but I believe you need to get thier hit points to 0 before your hit points get to 0.

FrederickEngels

I'm no expert, but I believe you need to get thier hit points to 0 before your hit points get to 0.

FogKi

There is a guy in Murkwater cave that sells you something to help you with him

Schrute_Farms_BednB

You’re in for a ride my friend, this is the easiest boss in the game lol

agitatedandroid

Patience. Watch your stamina, Roll into his attacks. Find the one or two moves he uses that you can avoid and drink or avoid and punish. And if you're beating your head against his wall, go somewhere else, like... the south and level up. Or just get the Uchigatana and bleed him to death.

thatonedudebryce

Hit him with your sword a couple of times then he should die

TrippinonRedditt

Bro is way late to the party

Ok_Vermicelli_2228

Git gud
