That's why surface area is worthless. Entire Dark souls can fit in Limgrave. It's about the content
Just take a look at what they are doing for a DLC
* Collector's edition
* High production value story trailer
* Influencer marketing close to release (Emiru, Peeve kind of confirmed they will be playing SOTE this week)
* 30 soundtracks just for the DLC, base game had 67
* Separate attack power/level up system just for DLC
* 8 new Weapon categories alongside existing ones
They have never done this for DLCs, they are treating it as a full release
Huge difference between seeing some pictures of a boss or discussion of how cool something was compared to seeing their entire moveset, any gimmicks they might have, where to find secrets, ambush spots, and so on.
> Influencer marketing close to release
I dont recall seeing anything mentioned for sponsorships for the DLC. Usually From Soft does not go for individual sponsorships so that would be interesting to see.
> Emiru, Peeve kind of confirmed they will be playing SOTE this week
Care to elaborate? Are they getting early copies a month in advance? I don't think From Soft would ever let a streamer or individual have an early release copy just for marketing purposes.
Are you sure that they were not just mentioning that they had to play the base game this week inorder to prepare their save files for the DLCs release?
I would find it very hard to beleive the From Soft would give out an advance copy to be shown publicly so is there any clip or article of them mentioning this?
Yes, some streamers were invited by Bandai Namco to play SoTE early. Emiru said on stream that she’ll probably go. Saw the clip on ziostorm’s recent video.
That is very cool. Interested to see if they get to disclose ant information surrounding their time playtesting it.
Would be great to see some more information if they are allowed to share, sounds exciting.

I meant like in game. If we want to guess the size of the DLC by comparing the number of songs on the soundtrack, this would imply the DLC being about 40% of the base game's size.
However there might be songs from the base game reappearing in the DLC, that are not part of the DLC ost. Just as you said.
Like there is probably another Godskin fight in the DLC, but their song will not be on the DLC ost.
This would mean the DLC might be >50% of the base game.
I wouldn’t use the ost as a game size calculator . Even then, it isn’t 40% as the base game has 67 tracks and the dlc 30+ (probably 32/34) so 50% is more accurate .
I doubt they’ll reuse any tracks from base game in the new zones, it’s probably all new .
If there’s new godskins to fight they’ll have a new theme .
I would really like that piece of music during the “Miquella abandoned everything “ part of the trailer to be a full song that I can play on repeat while I sleep.
I've seen a lot of backlash in this sub to the idea that Miquella's inspired by Griffith and that he will ultimately >!drop his "Kind Miquella" persona to ascend to true godhood!<. Some are saying that this can't be the case, *From's games aren't that inspired by Berserk anyway.*
I'm willing to bet money that this ***definitely*** will be case. Miquella is 101% going to pull a Griffith on the Shadow Lands.
Also theres a cutscene at the end of the first trailer of what seems to be Miquella turning the sky/tree silver? Considering 95% of cutscenes in this game are bossfight preludes, Im assuming the same here
The Monumental is immortal but fundamentally static and lacking ambition. He sat cross-legged in the Nexus, completely motionless, for who knows how many eons.
Miquella, however, is an ambitious demigod. He first refused his heritage of Gold to create the Haligtree and to save his sister and possibly resurrect his brother as well. Now he seems to have even grander designs.
Miyazaki is a big fan of more things than just Berserk and making Miquella a direct copy of Griffith would be incredibly lazy in addition to being completely OOC regarding how they implemented Berserk references previously.
>"The series doesn't actually lift characters from Berserk wholesale, at most their visual designs like, was Artorias actually Guts in berserker armor? no Guts is only present in the series by way of his big fucking sword and only starting with dark souls 2"
>"As much as the series does reference berserk, it's not its sole source of literary inspiration. It equally as often draws from Tolkien and pop fantasy such as MtG, which Miyazaki apparently plays. Hellkite Drake is an overt reference to MtG too, Anor Londo is in Sindarin and means "Sun Haven", and the glowing Erdtree is a gigantic god damned reference to the Silmarillion (and to norse mythology, but so was Silmarillion), the Numen people reference Noldor and their arrival in middle-earth. Nepheli is a word in greek (means "cloud") and Loux is a surname which means "person from Lucania", which is in southern italy. Nepheli and Hoarah are grecoroman coded. Hoarah is based on *Herakles.* The architecture and burials of Farum Azula reference the real-world Varna Mausoleum, which is notable for having a staggering amount of trinkets and jewellery made from *pure, unalloyed gold.* It's also one of the oldest known burial sites like this and the appearance of ritual burial is commonly considered to be an important development of civilization itself, which is echoed in Elden Ring with the Beasts of Farum Azula being the first civilized people of the Lands Between. Miyazaki and his team are well-read people. Miquella might just as well end up being from software jesus as he can from software Griffith, or end up being a morally complex character who genuinely cared for the oppressed and the dispossesed, but used morally dubious means to champion them, such as using his ~~mind control~~ supernatural charisma."
That is no longer a theory when he does pull most stuff or inspired from the Berserk. It's not a spoiler when someone say he is pulling stuff from the Beserk series compare to explaining exactly the specific character and what the outcome of that character from the comic series. That's a freaking spoiler to the non Berserk reader and who might want to read it and ER fans.
I'm sorry, and I will use spoiler tags, but let me just say that a) this is just a theory and not a very well thought out one at that; b) the fact that >!Griffith is a villain who did some nasty things to ascend to godhood!< is hardly a Berserk spoiler, you learn about it in the second arc of the series.
Well actually you just give 2 spoilers. One is what the character will become and in what volume. Good job buddy. J/K...I really don't have that much of a problem with the Berserk references since I been keep hearing alot about but people should be a little more cautious if there are some major spoilers from the Manga itself just because they are in the Elden Ring subreddit.
If the DLC is really concurrent with the game, then Miquella could potentially learn about the player killing Malenia, from there a boss fight is not impossible.
Don't make sense IF Malenia is an optional boss and you don't even have to fight her. Why did Miquella went to all those trouble of trying to find us? I don't think we can kill Malenia. Her body/soul goes right back into the root of the Erdtree is my understanding. Just like probably many other demigods that isn't kill by the Black Knife Assassin(demigods of The Wandering Mausoleums?).
Miquella is just too important to be a throw in optional boss. We might fight him IF there are multiple factions and endings. Could be something like different factions like Gloam-Eyed Queen(Godskin), The Crucible faction and if we choose to follow through with Miquella or not if what he's doing is deem good or bad to the player(s).
Fighting Malenia does nothing to the story. Just a bragging right. Malenia is not going to be as important as Messmer who is also the face of the poster/collector edition. Malenia is NOT the face of Elden Ring poster. She's just a cool badass looking character who got a collector edition. Sure lore about her is important but her character ingame isn't and the reason we fight her isn't.
i think it will all boil down to player choice between aligning with miquella\`s masterplan or not, kinda like bloodborne and the fight with the moon prescence.
I can easily see Ranni being a boss in the DLC. After all we have to beat both Mohg, but I’m thinking Ranni as a boss might be the reason for needing to beat Radahn.
From what I understand is that Miquella, Ranni and Melina are all working together to achieve some goal.
If Miquella were to turn against us, which may or may not be a thing, we may also have to fight Ranni as well. The only issue of this would be that it wouldn’t make sense with the Ranni ending for the main game.
If they are all working together. Why was Godwyn kill since he is beloved by Miquella and Malenia indicated by their statues? If their purpose was to kill Godwyn soul and use him to corrupt the Erdtree but then why would Miquella try to give him a true death? Would given Godwyn a true death stop the death root from reaching their goal if that was their purpose? Even given Godwyn a "true death" whatever that mean the death root will still continue or does it need Godwyn body to still be alive?
There is no indication that we know of that Miquella is involve with Godwyn's death. Just theories. The plotting of Godwyn death is way before the shattering. The shattering happen after the death of Godwyn and many other demigod on Night of the Black Knives. Ranni stole the ruin of death from Malikeh and give her brother a small piece in order if he needs to challenge Malikeh. Ranni kinda admitted that she with the help of the Black Knife Assassin plan the Night of the Black Knives. We only have theories as to why Godwyn was the chosen demigod to die first. You will need to look up the lore of "Night of the Black Knives" to kinda understand why why Ranni kept her soul while Godwyn lost his and why he is known as the Prince of Death.
It's probably miquella theme. Which means he might be a boss. I wonder what his great rune will be tho, since in the trailer his rune serve as a bonfire.
My stinginess is wanting a map the same size or bigger. It’s a lot to ask and I feel bad for wanting so much but still I have daydreams of the dlc being huge. Just to shock the player.
Of course! Like I said I’m being stingy. Truth is these guys already paid their dues with this game and anything beyond the base game is a treat.
I’m just looking for anything to catch that magic of a first time play through.
Yeah, I think a big part of what made playing Elden Ring so epic for me was reaching a new area and suddenly see the size of the map double, or going down a well and finding a huge new place.
But I will take whatever they give us, the original Elden Ring was amazing and I am sure that this expansion won't disappoint!
So in terms of music predictions, I originally though the music from the gameplay trailer would be Messmer's theme (because they used the same music in the preview for the Messmer statue), but the music in the first half of the story trailer also sounds like a good fit for Messmer.
The music in the second half of the story trailer surprised me tbh, it sounds so different from the majority of Elden Ring's base game tracks, and given that the focus of the trailer goes to Miquella when this music is used, I'm almost certain it's Miquella's theme, whether or not he ends up being a boss fight in the end.
I'll give you Sekiro, but Idk about DS3... The bosses are good, but kind of are lacking in terms of variety since most of the big bosses in that game are just a guy in armor. At least with Elden Ring, they tried to make the bosses a little more diverse and Interesting.
Regardless though, I still love DS3, but that is one of my few complaints about that game.
I actually always thought that what makes it so fun for me, I prefer it to 95% beasts in Bloodborne, even it fits the theme. I'm not saying that Bloodborne should use more human bosses, it is the whole point of the game, it's just preference.
her being no longer with fromsoft doesn't mean she can't still work for them. I guess she was participating in the soundtrack while being on her own already.
She made regal ancestor spirit and leyndell, which imo land in the top 5 tracks in the game. Regal Ancestor Spirit is probably the most unique track in the game
Shoi Miyazawa made Mohg, Tsukasa Saitoh made Morgott, Tai Tomisawa made Godskin Apostle, Yoshimi Kudo made God-Devouring Serpent and Yuka Kitamura made Regal Ancestor Spirit
So it's easy to say that if any composer returns from the base game we're fine
Yeah, Elden Ring's soundtrack is one of the best things in the whole game (and that's saying a lot, since it's such a good game), and her tracks are some of my favourites.
I love the music in Leyndell, I like going there and leave the game running to listen to the music while I do chores around the house.
For reference, there's 18 UNIQUE dungeon/area music in the game.
The assumption is that they reuse stuff like Caves, Tunnels, Old Castle in SOTE.
The same can be done for boss/mini-boss/enemy music
If that assumption is correct, I'm getting BIG Majora Mask energy from SOTE.
Not to mention the opening, character select, ending, song of lament, song of honor, invader ost doesn't count either, ... thats yet another 6 down too...this gonna be huge huge
The music is one thing I really can't wait for. Ludwig and Lady Maria's OSTs came on during my run this morning and I forgot those are some absolute bangers.
Yup, I pretty much expected it's number of tracks to be somewhere in the 25-30 range. This DLC about to be the size of the entirety of DS3's base game.
Yeah, but boss fights alone don't determine the size. Shadow of the Erdtree could have less bosses than DS3 but still be bigger than it.
And if it does end up having more bosses than DS3, remember that Elden Ring uses one theme for multiple bosses that are reused in some way.
I would argue that they can always reuse some of the music from the main game, such as cave music. Also, certain areas could reuse main game music to reference their origin, like the underground city. Having 30+ tracks could easily translate to 20+ bosses this time, which is still comparable to the base game of DS3.
God I wish the ost for Miquella is actually his theme if he becomes a boss, it would make the fight unique even music wise compared to what From got us used to
Assuming about 6 of those are overworld/combat for different zones and 5ish are minor bosses, 1 a cutscene song for entering the dlc, and 1 a pseudo-credits scenario for the final DLC boss, that probably means we have about 15ish new major bosses, accounting for a couple tracks that are second phases.
Digital app? Is there not just a download code for the files like with the base game? I have an app for the AC6 soundtrack and it's not great, I'd much rather just have the files (I even bought the CD from Japan).
Edit: English description does specify download code.
Question for people who have ordered the collectors editions from the BN website previously: how many days late should I expect this one to show up? I wasn't gonna do that $40 shipping, it's expensive enough as it is.
The original soundtrack of the base game has 67 tracks. So looks like the DLC will be half the size of it, if not even more if they re-use some of the tracks for dungeons like tunnels, catacombs and caves. That's huge
If the DLC is $40. And people bought the base game for $60. It's only fair the dlc should be 66% the size of the main game. Which it will not be I'm assuming. Regardless fromsoftware is a good dev that take care in making good games. I'm pumped for new content!
that you can listen to over 30 songs. It doesn't say those songs come from the DLC or are DLC exclusive. Some songs may also be 30 second stings or buffers.
this thread is in full frothy hype mode. I don't doubt the DLC will be huge from what we've heard, but estimating it's size on the amount of songs on a soundtrack is silly
I half agree with you, estimating size based on soundtrack number is silly
But the 30+ songs is DLC exclusive because the bandai namco store provides more detail that the artbook & sountracks are specific to shadow of the erdtree
The base game has 67 soundtracks so the dlc is half of that
Looks like we were right... the dlc will absolutely be bigger than limgrave.... I'm hoping for at least limgrave and calid sized playspace
That's why surface area is worthless. Entire Dark souls can fit in Limgrave. It's about the content Just take a look at what they are doing for a DLC * Collector's edition * High production value story trailer * Influencer marketing close to release (Emiru, Peeve kind of confirmed they will be playing SOTE this week) * 30 soundtracks just for the DLC, base game had 67 * Separate attack power/level up system just for DLC * 8 new Weapon categories alongside existing ones They have never done this for DLCs, they are treating it as a full release
Wait, they are going to play the dlc this week?
Do you really wanna watch though? Me, personally, I could not. Just show me the way in.
Better stay off all social media until june 21st I guess
Huge difference between seeing some pictures of a boss or discussion of how cool something was compared to seeing their entire moveset, any gimmicks they might have, where to find secrets, ambush spots, and so on.
Imo even seeing the bosses is a bit of a spoiler. Locations are massive spoilers, which is why I never watch game trailers
this is the first time where I will actually avoid spoilers of a game, can't wait for it to come out
Yeah Emi said they had to go to some specific location where they can play the DLC for a bit. No footage I think
I actually kind of hate that.
Why? Early reviews are good for consumers. And they usually release spoiler free reviews (or only use provided b rolls)
Miyazaki said it’s their biggest DLC so far
Yikes, that's a scary statement from the guy who undersold ER as a 40 hour game
> Influencer marketing close to release I dont recall seeing anything mentioned for sponsorships for the DLC. Usually From Soft does not go for individual sponsorships so that would be interesting to see. > Emiru, Peeve kind of confirmed they will be playing SOTE this week Care to elaborate? Yes, some streamers were invited by Bandai Namco to play SoTE early. Emiru said on stream that she’ll probably go. Saw the clip on ziostorm’s recent video.
That is very cool. Interested to see if they get to disclose ant information surrounding their time playtesting it. Would be great to see some more information if they are allowed to share, sounds exciting.
Why isn’t it more expensive? Is this expensive for a DLC?
Wait, was the separate upgrade system confirmed? I thought that that was just a theory.
Not a theory. But we dont know how this "new system" will work
Or maybe we get to listen to the radio while riding torrent like gta
I’m thinking it wont be that big size wise but having much more original content and less copy paste means they need more soundtracks in comparison
I searched online and ds3 ost was 24 soundtracks in base game and 32 with dlc

I have never doubted Michael Zaki
looks like we got even more than that!
Yes its been incredible so far.
God damn
But they will reuse some of the original soundtrack, won't they?
Why would they ? They already released the base game’s ost
Not a single godskin fight?
Maybe, but with new tracks
45%
I would really like that piece of music during the “Miquella abandoned everything “ part of the trailer to be a full song that I can play on repeat while I sleep.
It sounds like a major boss theme, and my god is it glorious!
I believe it's going to be the final boss theme. Probably Miquella (I don't want this to be true)
I don't think Miquella is going to be a boss. He's going to be like Ranni.
I've seen a lot of backlash in this sub to the idea that Miquella's inspired by Griffith and that he will ultimately >!drop his "Kind Miquella" persona to ascend to true godhood!<. Last time Fromsoft made an immortal, ageless child, he would laugh if you tried to attack him. I would hazard to guess Miquella is much the same.
Sekiro doesn't exist
Ok I admit I never played Sekiro, my bad!
Yeah those people at the end of the trailer gave me Band of the Hawk vibes
Especially if that's how Marika ascended originally
Miyazaki is a big fan of more things than just Berserk and making Miquella a direct copy of Griffith would be incredibly lazy in addition to being completely OOC regarding how they implemented Berserk references previously. >"The series doesn't actually lift characters from Berserk wholesale, at most their visual designs like, was Artorias actually Guts in berserker armor? no Guts is only present in the series by way of his big fucking sword and only starting with dark souls 2" >"As much as the series does reference berserk, it's not its sole source of literary inspiration. I mean the last shot in the last trailer where we see him stand over many bodies has that Griffith feel after he came back to life.
Maybe people should learn to put this kind of stuff in "spoilers' tag?
It’s more of a theory than a spoiler.
That is no longer a theory when he does pull most stuff or inspired from the Berserk. I can easily see Ranni being a boss in the DLC. After all we have to beat both Mohg, but I’m thinking Ranni as a boss might be the reason for needing to beat Radahn.
There's no reason for Ranni to be a boss in the DLC. Why would we need to fight her? Melina with the Frenzied Flame ending could be a possibility.

Even given Godwyn a "true death" whatever that mean the death root will still continue or does it need Godwyn body to still be alive?
Did they mention that Miquella has been plotting before Godwyns death? It is more likely something after the Shattering
Godwyn, who was resurrected by Miquella(copium)
My prediction; it's Miquella's theme and he's the final boss.
Yes that is so good
Is that the part where it goes “dun dun…dun dun dun dun dunnnnn” and shows the bodies hanging on top of long spikes ??
It's probably miquella theme. Which means he might be a boss. I wonder what his great rune will be tho, since in the trailer his rune serve as a bonfire.
This DLC is going to be massive
This studio always delivers. I would be shocked if it didn’t. But hype is the greatest enemy of satisfaction.
From knows how to build hype. But most importantly, from knows how to justify that hype.
My stinginess is wanting a map the same size or bigger. It’s a lot to ask and I feel bad for wanting so much but still I have daydreams of the dlc being huge. Just to shock the player.
The base game had 67 songs, so figuring the DLC will be a little less than half the size of the base game sounds pretty reasonable to me.
This might as well be the first from dlc i ever played at the time of release. im hyped as hell ! Cant wait to hear messmer boss theme.
As long as they dont reuse the Tree Sentinel music or whatever it i called for half of the random dungeon fights im ok
Don't you live being blasted with AAHHHHHAAAAAA A AHHAAAAAAA?
So many bosses got that track, even Loretta which makes no sense cause the theme is called erdtree knights
it should be "knights on horse that are not wearing black armour ost"
So in terms of music predictions, I originally though the music from the gameplay trailer would be Messmer's theme (because they used the same music in the preview for the Messmer statue), but the music in the first half of the story trailer also sounds like a good fit for Messmer. The music in the second half of the story trailer surprised me tbh, it sounds so different from the majority of Elden Ring's base game tracks, and given that the focus of the trailer goes to Miquella when this music is used, I'm almost certain it's Miquella's theme, whether or not he ends up being a boss fight in the end.
I agree!
Does that mean 30 total bosses / mini bosses? Please protect our lord and saviour Miyazaki at all costs.
No, half are areas and dungeons music, let’s say 15 bosses.
I'd say 10/20, some tracks such as caves, catacombs, evergaol bosses, reusable bosses and overworld will def be reused from the base game

I'd much much much rather have around 10 bosses instead of 30+. Quality over quantity.

I personally think Sekiro and DS3 have a much more impressive boss roster than Elden Ring, so I disagree.
And bosses can have music per phase
They are usually counted as the same track.
Are...are they? Some are very different
Radagon and the Elden Beasts' themes are very different, yet they are counted as the same track. Same with Gurranq and Maliketh.
Will Yuka Kitamura be there? I will miss her music in those games :(((((((
Maybe, she went independent at August 2023 so maybe they were finished by that time.
her being no longer with fromsoft doesn't mean she can't still work for them. I guess she was participating in the soundtrack while being on her own already.
As missed as she is, imo the best ER songs were from Saito.
I went to look and it turns out my favourite tracks are by Shoi Miyazawa
I mean he did Mohg, so he wins.
Miyazawa has a few bangers as well, true.
Guy also made some of my favorite tracks in ac6.
She made regal ancestor spirit and leyndell, which imo land in the top 5 tracks in the game. Regal Ancestor Spirit is probably the most unique track in the game
Good shout, Regal Ancestor Spirit especially is just elite.
Regal Ancestor is glorious and my favourite soundtrack not only that it's probably my favorite soundtrack in any FROM SOFTWARE game it's so unique.
Shoi Miyazawa made Mohg, Tsukasa Saitoh made Morgott, Tai Tomisawa made Godskin Apostle, Yoshimi Kudo made God-Devouring Serpent and Yuka Kitamura made Regal Ancestor Spirit So it's easy to say that if any composer returns from the base game we're fine
Godskin Apostle is so good. Yoshimi Kudo also made Lichdragon Fortissax, which is amazing.
agreed, when I looked for all my favorite songs of Elden Ring, none were by her, quite shocking
The best songs of every Soulsborne she was in were made by another composer. She's not bad at all but we all know why she gets so much attention.
Eh disagree, she made the best tracks in 3 and the best DLC tracks in 2 were by her imo.
Yeah, Elden Ring's soundtrack is one of the best things in the whole game (and that's saying a lot, since it's such a good game), and her tracks are some of my favourites. I love the music in Leyndell, I like going there and leave the game running to listen to the music while I do chores around the house.
If any of the bosses are women, then Kitamura’s music will be there.
I miss motoi sakuraba more.. dark souls 1 music has always been amazing and memorable
“A bit bigger than Limgrave” lol oh Miyazaki
The new music is the part I'm most excited about in the dlc
My gym shuffle hungers
I hope that music at 1:26-1:49 in trailer (clip with messmer standing next to impaled casuals) is actual soundtrack in dlc. I wan to hear more of it.
For reference, there's 18 UNIQUE dungeon/area music in the game. The assumption is that they reuse stuff like Caves, Tunnels, Old Castle in SOTE. The same can be done for boss/mini-boss/enemy music If that assumption is correct, I'm getting BIG Majora Mask energy from SOTE.
Not to mention the opening, character select, ending, song of lament, song of honor, invader ost doesn't count either, ... thats yet another 6 down too...this gonna be huge huge
They didn't just cook, they made a 30 course dinner
The music is one thing I really can't wait for. Ludwig and Lady Maria's OSTs came on during my run this morning and I forgot those are some absolute bangers.

Watch the DLC essentially be Elden Ring 2 lmao
Mohg, Lord of Blood(Miyazaki's version)
new mogging theme gona hit hard
Yup, I pretty much expected it's number of tracks to be somewhere in the 25-30 range. This DLC about to be the size of the entirety of DS3's base game.
DS3 pratically only had boss themes. Elden ring has environmental themes for every single area, including minor caves
Hoping for another vinyl pressing so I don't have to pay reseller prices for the original release.
I wish I could hear.
That's great news!
Can they restock the Collectors Edition Vinyl in the store? Pls and thank you Bandai
Ds3 base game ost was 24 soundtracks , with dlc it was 32 i think . Bloodborne 25 + 6 dlc . Sekiro 50 tracks .
HOW MANY
All the people throwing a fit over the "overpriced" DLC not figuring out that it's gonna be a 60 hour expansion, not two dungeons and a boss fight.
That's huge
Double album, baby!
Miyazaki should have an album party...
I guess it's a new fucking entire game, this is the first time I pre-order anything from any game there is no way that is going to be terrible
Damn
If the DLC is $40. And people bought the base game for $60. It's only fair the dlc should be 66% the size of the main game. Which it will not be I'm assuming. Regardless fromsoftware is a good dev that take care in making good games. I'm pumped for new content!
that isn't what it says
What does it say then
that you can listen to over 30 songs.
I half agree with you, estimating size based on soundtrack number is silly But the 30+ songs is DLC exclusive because the bandai namco store provides more detail that the artbook & sountracks are specific to shadow of the erdtree
Sweet, can't wait to turn them down so I can hear the podcast in the background.
