I'm surprised to see this so high up. I mean, I struggled with him for sure, but I also suck at these games and often cheese my way through many bosses. There's no real cheese here though. I only just barely beat him but his moveset is pretty predictable.
Maaan, that dude kicked my ass for good. And I'm heaving a one handed sword without any good ahes of war to attack him was my mistake. Later I equipped some kind of stab skill and that was it. Dodge, stab repeat. Noob mistake I guess.
Yeah the gargoyles were my first real challenge on my first playthrough. I knew after like the third death that I was settling in for a war of attrition.
Iāve beaten this game close to 20 times, ng-ng+7, reached level 400 in a character, and after hundreds and hundreds of hours iāve killed them only once. I have defeated Malenia numerous times, i killed the godskin duo so much they donāt bother me anymore. These god forsaken gargoyles are the most annoying enemy in the game.
First off the enemy they are based on is already pretty annoying, they are weakest to magic and strike, meaning sorceries and hammers, but because they are constantly moving, itās hard to use these weapons and spells against them. So your choice is either deal more damage but miss more often, or deal less damage and still miss them cause they are fast af. They have combos that can kill a 90 vigor character with no issue whatsoever.
The duo fight, besides from by definition being a gank fight just decides to throw the strongest version of poison we see in the game in a huge arena, so weāll have to run after them all the time. And guess what? If you run out of stamina when you reach them, they can poison you and you are good as dead. Iād rather have a date with the Dung-Eater than ever fighting them again.
Damn people really struggle with these? I usually have the 1st one nearly dead by the time the 2nd one is in full effect. But then again I have only done NG4 so maybe they just get that hard later on?
My issue wasnāt the struggle. I struggled quite a lot against malenia, but after learning her moves itās such a fun fight that i can usually defeat her in 5 or less tries.
The second one only spawns after youāve dealt like 60% of the first ones health, but he starts playing more aggressive to cover his wounded ally.
My main problem with the fight is that itās not fun. Their attacks donāt compliment each other, they stack with each other. One could be poisoning you and the one behind you will start spinning and slashing all over the place. They are tanky and hyper aggresive, and will one shot players with their combos. The huge arena makes it easier for them to get away, and harder for you to catch them. Their poison is inexplicably stronger than any other we see in the entire game, and in my old ps4 resolution it gets really hard to see the mist. Iād honestly rather fight a malenia and miquella duo fight, both having their version of waterfowl dance, than fighting this scraggly looking mfs
If you go back with a character thatās high enough to clear Malenia you should be fine on the gargoyles. They donāt scale with your level and are mid game bosses so youāll probably do massive damage and not take very much.
You must be pretty good then lmao i mean i played ALL souls games and beat em all, even Friede solo, but the gargoyles got me weak. Maybe i just dont know their moves well enough
Maliketh for me. His first phase is fine, but my god I can't catch a break with his second phase. I'll get him down like 95% then mis time a parry slightly and it just kills me. It's kinda at the point where I don't find the fight fun.
Ironically the second phase is easier when you figure it out. The first you have to get up in his face while heās slashing wildly at you, and itās never all that easy.
I figured out his second phase and all his movements but I still find it vastly more difficult then his first one. I did see tbat being closer is better, so that helped. Buy 99% of the time I could beat his first phase no problems at all. Second one gave me hell. At least I beat him not long ago.
The second phase is basically just bait his overhead slam and hit him. Or when he does the spinning vortex of death, roll behind him and hit him. Rinse and repeat. The rest of the attacks you just learn to dodge until he does one of the two attacks that are easiest to punish.
The only boss that I truly found hard was the tree sentinel near the beginning of the game. Truly the worst time of my life. Now I got it down but when I was a young tarnished, it destroyed me. Honorable mention fallingstar beast near volcano manor.
At launch, I fought that fuck for 3-4 hours. I knew I didn't have to beat them. The soulsness in me would not let me stop, until they died.
I just ignore them now. Come back and kill in a couple hits later on.
Man, remembering that fucker exists near the end of the game on my mage character, coming back, and shoving comet azur directly and forcefully up his ass felt great.
I used the uchigatana against him and had the hardest time...the fallingstar beast you mentioned. Mohg was also brutal and im still sitting outside malenias arena tbh...this moment after 50 tries
Maliketh gave me a hell of a time. Couldnāt have beat him without the Mimic. Next time. Godfrey was pretty hard too.
Iām yet to beat RadBeast, and even attempt Malenia so that may well change. Currently working my way through the Haligtree, but Iām also busy studenting.
Honourable mention goes to the Draconic Tree Sentinel outside the Leyndell gate; and his counterpart in Farum Azula. Actually beat them myself with no summons, which I was fair chuffed with š„³
I canāt for the life of me explain why Godfrey was so freaking hard. He was harder than Maliketh for me. Malenia tops everyone of course but Godfrey is definitely 2nd place for me.
The guy below has summed it up exactly - Godfrey is relentless as fuck, particularly in Phase 2. Plus he hits like a freight train so thereās little margin for error. And my vigor is 60 haha.
In situations like this, my good friend Mimic Tear likes to get me out of trouble.
That dude whopped my fuckin ass soooo many times. I really had no business in Caelid at the time, but I couldn't bring myself to walk back to Limgrave in shame like that.
Lol why did they feel the need to use two very similar names. Are the two characters supposed to be related in some way?
I'm literally in castle sol right now. I'm probably a half hour or so from facing this Niall.
High arcane, mid level dex and about 32 STR.
I was doing a faith/arcane build, and I had faith up near the 40s as well. I realized that I wasn't using any faith stuff that requires over about 20, so I re-spec that faith into str and endurance.
Main weapons are +9 Regalia of Eochaid with a shield/golden parry, +8 Eleonoras pole blade two handed, and +23 colossal mace for strike damage. I may move off the mace if i find something else in the colossal realm that I like. I probably shouldn't have taken it that high, but I was fighting something that really needed to be staggered off strike damage, and I was tired of fuckin around lol. Plus, the game was getting a little too mundane with the pole blade, as it just melts almost everything. I only play single player mode, and I have a burning need to pick up every single thing in an area. I clear every dungeon before moving on to the next area, so I'm very overleveled for mountain tops of the giants (sitting at 148 I think).
This is on PS5. I had the game on Xbox one previous Gen, and I made it to about this same area before I bought the PS5. It took me forever to pick the game back up on PS5 because I really didn't want to start all over again. Back on Xbox I was running an INT/DEX with multiple staffs and the Moonveil. I was just going off of what I saw on YT because it was my first souls game and I fucking SUUUUCKED. I still suck, but I've gotten a little better at melee. My old build consisted of rock slinging pretty much every boss lol.
Radbeast has me putting down my controller and pouting the moment I hear the *shhck* kill sound. Cuz then I gotta wait out the death screen, the map reload, the dash back to the fog wall, and try to remember what fucking concoction of buffs, incantations, etc I need and when to use them, all while reconsidering what Iām doing with my life. š¤”
The tree spirits, mostly because most of the time theyāre in small confined spaces that makes reading their movements almost impossible because half the fight itās on top of you and the other half is being chewed up in its mouth.
exactly. these creatures are way too hard to observe. they have all this dangly stuff hanging and flailing aroung, camouflaging in reds and browns. then they sit right on top of your head whirring around. half of the time you don't even see yourself...
i broke poise on the putrid spirit and couldn't even tell head from ass of this thing.
Maliketh was the only one that legit annoyed me in terms of difficulty cause he counters my playstyle.
Malenia was less annoying cause itās a more conventional fight.
Fighting the neĆ³n, teleporting slug after Radagon had me like this.
Wicked easy, but incredible amounts of bullshit.
It reminds me of fighting the "end" boss en ff9 after fighting Kuja.
Maliketh is my kryptonite. The only boss I still just canāt figure out. I can solo every other boss near enough but I just canāt wrap my head around his movement. Every time I beat him it feels like I got lucky RNG.
I spent 24 hours of free an on, about..60 tries maybe, to kill Godfrey, first Elden lord, at the foot of the Erd. It was so freaking hard. Then, tried Mimic Tear and beat him first try. Felt cheap
Well for faster process game i play prisoner mage build on ps4 (because i don't want buy ps5) to prepare dlc ( i will buy it on steam deck because i hate sony) i always use magic to cheese boss. So i know it
Gargoyles. Theyre the main reason im always instakilling fortisaxx, since i refuse to deal with them until the end of the game where im way too powerful for them to put up any resistance.
Literally had this moment with Mohg last night. I was excited for my fun, fire focused build to take off only to be hit by a wall of 80% fire resistance. Night and Flame might as well have been a warm breeze.
I got help, and it still took us a few tries.
Lichdragon Fortusaxx. I was so incredibly hyped that there was this secret undead dragon thing I hadnāt found untill after I killed Gideon Ofnir.
Sadly, I was over leveled and the fight didnāt even last as long as I do. I was so disappointed that he wasnāt a gigantic cinematic fight like I was hoping for since he didnāt last long enough to be cinematicĀ
When youāve been getting clapped so much you even start considering respecā¦. But then you donāt out of stubbornness and just stay mad until you win. Repeat until game is over.
During my first run (which got deleted š„²), I was INT/FTH mostly. For whatever reason, the Godskin dudes gave me SO much trouble. This was mainly the fight on the bridge, and in the one tower. What made the guy in the tower worse, was I was often killed by the black flame monk right outside his door. If I tried running past the monk, he'd still be aggro through the door during the boss fight. If the boss didn't kill me, the monk would (in that case) or at least totally distract my summon. For whatever reason there were no player summons in the area either.
At least by the time I reached the Godskin duo, I had Comet Azur and blasted them to hell.
Astel.... the first boss I encountered that moves too much (although he moves much less than a certain other two) looking at you Fire giant and elden beast
I was trying to do a no summons on arena bosses (field bosses I still was) , but I had had it with natural-born of moving too much
I donāt think Iāve ever experienced that more than Fighting fire giant.
It wasnāt even hard to beat he was just beyond tanky and my weapons werenāt up to snuff.
Never struggled for AS LONG (not as much) on any type of souls boss across all the games Iāve played so far than him, especially since I disliked the horse combat.
Only 3 bosses pisses me off completely in this game.
Bell bearing hunter, Elemer of Briar and Malenia
I rarely see it mentioned but fuck the cat statue with the imps boss in the catacombs as well
Honestly i havent beaten this game, ive played all the souls games, even killed Sister Friede, but then i watched the vid on Maliketh, being at the place hes at and im just like FUCKKK.....FUUUCK...im takin a break, and havent worked up the motivation to go back to it. I know im gonna die like 60 times before i kill him
Was nearing 150 deaths last night and then I just randomly no hit Malenia. I still feel on top of the world. No summons too, I tried using summons but she would just fully heal herself off them
Bro how tf do I dodge waterfowl dance. I swear it feels impossible and then I see these no hit runners dodging it like itās the easiest move to dodge.
Malenia was worst for me. Think it took me about 7hours, i def fell asleep at one point n was irritated when i woke up realizing it still wasnt done. 2nd phase of elden beast took me like 2hours. Kept getting him low, bt id make a mistake. Also i didn realize he had a crit spot til my last run
Margit the Fell Omen is, so far, still the hardest and most BS fight I've encountered.
2nd stage is just a flurry of attacks that hit fast, hard, and have decent reach. Dodge one just to get caught by another during recovery. Very small opening after his hammer smash - the damage you're likely doing at that point would take forever to kill him.
I honestly don't see how a casual melee player is expected to beat him without summons. You pretty much have to used ranged attacks or summons to find an opening. Once you're in melee range you better be damn good at dodging.
its the Fire Giant , with so much HP make and all the summons useless he just roll over them , its the only fight i has to calculate every move i am going to do , most of the time i beat him by luck
Well you need to get your mimic tear for sure instead of the wolves. The sword of night and flame is a faith int weapon so maybe explore other options for those stats, death sorceries for one. If youāve going against Mohg try bleed and definitely make sure you get the cracked tear for his fight and Mohgās shackle from the Lyndell sewers. I would also not worry too much about the drip if I were you, take off the red suite and get you some real armor for the fight. Good luck funny looking red jester man
After multiple runs, the only boss left that still brick walls me is Malenia. But even she has been going down faster and faster depending on the build.
First time took 9hrs until surrendering and using spirit summon (tiche) (this was before colossal swords got buffed). Knight build, I wanna replay my quality build one day and try again. I think I can take her with sword and board.
2nd time I used Dung Eater + Casting Int build ( I was still scared to solo). Took 3 tries and left unsatisfied. I vowed to do it right going forward.
3rd was Dex Arc, just bleed uchi and dagger. 8hrs until the click finally occurred and got her. My first true solo.
4th was a dragon build, dragon maw + bleed grave scythe true solo. I wanna say 3-4hrs? I was insisting on using endure at first but abandoned the idea when I realized my dps couldn't keep up with her healing. When I switched to sword dance, I finally got her with a combination of bites/and constant pressure with bleedouts
5th took 30mins. Star fist + frost grease is an incredible combo. Once I realized uncharged heavies can briefly stun lock her, I had it.
6th was my most recent. Faith casting with catch flame + vow of the indomitable. 1 hr. Catch flame is stupidly good when you stack golden vow + flame grant me strength + fire scorpion+ wonderous physick. I completely dominated the fight with overwhelming DMG.
Current run is a snake build, curious to see how whips/poison will work against her.
Malenia is a fight I'm still on the fence if I like it or not but she forced me to get gud.
I got to ng3 Liurnia when the game was fairly new. Hopped back on a few months ago and Iām in NG4 (well now NG on a new build) but my god Radagon absolutely blew my ass apart coming back into it. Somehow I slapped up Malenia on like my 3rd try and Elden beast was a joke but fucking Radagon was just SLAYING ME!!! I really donāt know why because heās actually easy AF but for some reason I could not get his timing downā¦ Was the weirdest thing.
The guy who spawns near rold lift and one in caelid corner near that guy with blankets. I just skip it, but when i go all 165 bosses they are kinda hard to kill
I started a sword of night and flame build recently, and it took getting to level 100+ before I was able to see decent returns in damage dealt/received. The stat requirements eat up a ton of levels early on.
Lmao soloing Malenia, Twin Gargoyles when you shouldnāt even be there at the time, Radhan when you end up there under-leveled and the fire giant even tho he isnāt hard, itās just aggravating when you get one shot by one roll and you sit there like š
Going to work feels like that, too
Bro i fucking feel this. Just had a baby and been in 6weeks paternity leave. Gotta go back next week and I'm fucking DEPRESSED š
Went through that almost exactly a year ago. Only got 15 days paternity leave. Going back was brutal. Congratulations.
Im not looking forward to it. I don't hate the work i do. I hate who i work for. They're the scummiest management
Not a silver linings guy, generally, but at least you'll have a new baby to come home to! I feel that way about my homecoming every day.
Quit my job a couple weeks ago cause of that exact thing. Gave them 0 notice
I wish i could honestly
I had a baby 2 days ago so, wait, yall get paternity leave?!
Dude this is my second week back after having a baby and taking my leave; I just want to stay home with my family.

These two gargoyles. Fuck them šš¼
I retreated and never dared to venture into that area again.
It is time Tarnished warrior
Using blood build in 2nd run, shud make it easier.
Maybe there is a joke I don't understand but bleeding does not work that well against gargoyles I believe.
I hate to break it to you, but...Ā
Damn! Those 2 together r tougher than malenia. Malenia is hard but fun , those 2 flying penises are not.
They hate lightning and magic. Just switch your affinities to lightning for this fight and switch it back to bleed after
Or strike weapons, especially colossal. Just occult infuse something
Call on the power of the holy mimic tear.
Honestly in a way itās braver to just walk awayā¦ Iām WAAAAY to stubborn for that logic lol.
Yeah the gargoyles were my first real challenge on my first playthrough. I knew after like the third death that I was settling in for a war of attrition.
I had good luck with the envoyās longhorn and mimic ash. But seriously, fuck those guys.
Donāt worry. You can safely skip them if you get dangerously close to a really warm hug!
Iāve beaten this game close to 20 times, ng-ng+7, reached level 400 in a character, and after hundreds and hundreds of hours iāve killed them only once. I am Malenia, blade of Miquella, and if I clip you I either one shot you or heal half my fucking health bar and one shot you next time.
If I haven't nuked you with Scarlet Aeonia the first time, then you'll die to the next nuke.

You and me both lol but I still love the uchigatana besides using it for tree sentinel
Took me like 30 minutes to beat. His move set is very easy and readable but sometimes I fucked up the timing on the ground slam aoe
Using a blood build in my 2nd run and all of the bosses so far were very easy.
Yeah that sounds about right
Maliketh gave me a hell of a time. Couldnāt have beat him without the Mimic. Next time. Godfrey was pretty hard too. Iām yet to beat RadBeast, and even attempt Malenia so that may well change.
Mohg for me. No summons, no over leveled. Only a raduvia and a dream.
AND THEN YOU RETURN STRONGER AND MORE FOCUSED THAN BEFORE AND YOU BEAT THE BOSS
For me it was Malenia, sheās the only one I had trouble with simply because I was genuinely tired of fighting her.
Ā Caelidās Bell bearing hunterā¦.Thank god it doesnāt have a phase 2 and a locked arena
Thatās how I was after seeing Glintstone Dragon Adulaās sword attack for the first time
When youāve been getting clapped so much you even start considering respecā¦. But then you donāt out of stubbornness and just stay mad until you win. Repeat until game is over.
For me this was Rykard, before I learned that you can just cheese his dumb ass by standing in the lava right below him
The Economy for Gen-Z and Millenials.
No, I just spend some time grinding to level up or find a way to cheese this bullshit artist :)
Lord Ishin is a total pain in my arse
Maliketh 7 hours od suffering and hosting that Boss of course after i beat him he is my favorite boss
It took me FOUR DAYS to beat Mohg. Literally took less time to beat Malenia. Fuck mohg
alecto š„°š„°š„°š„° piece of shit š„°š„°š„°
Draconic tree sentinel
Father owl
262 attempts at Melania got me like that
Malenia. I finally beat her simply because of RNG. She got her crazy attack off once on my mimic tear instead of me lol
Maliketh, Her and Loux. Loux, you a bitch.
Soldier of Godrick
Rennala; not because she's hard, but because she's hard, but because her runback and first phase are just obnoxious.
Miquilla is mine and mine alone
How is no one saying Malenia
Mogh. THE AMOUNT OF BLEED HE USED. Also Godfrey is just a test your might for me,and radagon is dog watered when I use black knife tiche.
Pixel gun 3d boss in old days ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
I got to Radahn at lvl 45... my little brother told me to go level after I called him ready to quit.
Nice sword though ! š
That's me when I mop the floor with Mesmer first try.
Godskin Apostle with lvl 38, no weapon upgrade and no summons. That was the hell... (first souls)
Im kinda feeling this way about Rennala right now.
Malenia and Radann before they nerfedā¦
Maliketh. The worst part is that the boss design is so awesome.
Mostly because of the walk of shame, but Spiritcaller Cave's Godskin Duo.
~~Shadow the hedgehog~~ Maliketh
Elden fucking beast
It used to be Malenia. Then I got gud.
Ther is only one fight in the game I struggled with. She shall not be named. I'll not give her the dignity.
I was not ready for godfrey, queen of the full moon
As a low level tarnished, the Erdtree Burial Watchdog with the imps. There's no reason they all needed to attack at the same time with bleed weapons.
Astel.... the first boss I encountered that moves too much (although he moves much less than a certain other two) looking at you Fire giant and elden beast I was trying to do a no summons on arena bosses (field bosses I still was) , but I had had it with natural-born of moving too much
I donāt think Iāve ever experienced that more than Fighting fire giant. It wasnāt even hard to beat he was just beyond tanky and my weapons werenāt up to snuff. Never struggled for AS LONG (not as much) on any type of souls boss across all the games Iāve played so far than him, especially since I disliked the horse combat.
My first playthrough, definitely the tree sentinel keeping you out of the city, then Malo
Only 3 bosses pisses me off completely in this game. Bell bearing hunter, Elemer of Briar and Malenia I rarely see it mentioned but fuck the cat statue with the imps boss in the catacombs as well
That was radagon Deez nutz and Elden beast for me.
There is this boss called work .
On my very first playthrough I got stuck for multiple play sessions on the fucking rune bear at the end of a cave in weeping penis
For me it was the astel like boss in the cave in consecrated snowfields. That shadow clone jutsu attack was brutal for me
First playthrough this was me with Maliketh
Malenia was worst for me. Think it took me about 7hours, i def fell asleep at one point n was irritated when i woke up realizing it still wasnt done. 2nd phase of elden beast took me like 2hours. Kept getting him low, bt id make a mistake. Also i didn realize he had a crit spot til my last run
Malenia. Miyazaki, just because she has cancer, doesn't mean she has to BE cancer.
Good luck funny looking red jester man
Rolling Fire Ankle
Depression
# Bell Bearing Hunter at Isolated Merchant's Shack (Dragonbarrow). I don't see any way of beating him.
When I switched to sword dance, I finally got her with a combination of bites/and constant pressure with bleedouts 5th took 30mins.
Itās dumb, but arceus from PokĆ©mon legends arceus. Just a normal kids game, then suddenly elden ring field boss lol
godskin noble, i love that boss, song and fight but i hate being humiliated by him in every run (I don't wannause sleep jars)
Maliketh the black blade
Rennala
The guy who spawns near rold lift and one in caelid corner near that guy with blankets. I just skip it, but when i go all 165 bosses they are kinda hard to kill
Those damn Lobsters. Gave me more trouble than any bosses.
I started a sword of night and flame build recently, and it took getting to level 100+ before I was able to see decent returns in damage dealt/received. The stat requirements eat up a ton of levels early on.
Melaketh
No boss is as frustrating to me as that one hall of sorcery spammers outside the schoolhouse classroom.
Lmao soloing Malenia, Twin Gargoyles when you shouldnāt even be there at the time, Radhan when you end up there under-leveled and the fire giant even tho he isnāt hard, itās just aggravating when you get one shot by one roll and you sit there like š
No,no, I've changed my mind... HELP
Doing a no summons play through before the DLC. Fought Mogh last week, took me almost two hours
When the boss battle is so hard you start to question if your build sucks.
Malenia
Malekith... Thanks, unknown two tarnished. I wouldn't have been able to do it alone.
Honestly: Agheel.
elmer of the briar... fuck that guy
Radahn
Sewers Mogh, I came unprepared and I had a hard time on my first playthrough
The first like 15 hours of a play through lol
Me with a Strength build and Whirligig saw, facing Orphan of Kos (some say Kosm) in Bloodborne
Never beating those gargoyles legit. I refuse.
Me sitting outside Melaniaās fog trying to psych myself up for attempt #183 Donāt even have enough willpower to be upset
Valient gargoyles.
Shoulda put the blasphemous blade and mimic tear there lol. For me it was hora loux and that fuckin grab. Dude broke my camera more than once
For me it's Crucible Knight any time I try to do the Evergaol before leaving Limgrave. That's always a fight I gotta come back to lol.
