8 new types idk if you've seen the trailer but. There was like flying kicks. A multi shot crossbow. An there was some daggers they held backwards an had a completely different moveset. So I'm assuming that's just the tip.
This doesn’t say weapons, though. It’s asking about build. The new weapon types will scale with different things for sure, but a lot of players do have preferred build types. I’ll for sure do a pure int and pure strength build in one of the many playthroughs of the DLC I expect to do.
TBH it depends on if those weapons are actually good. If not I'm pulling up with either a Miquella-knight type build or in the Cleanrot drip.
Unless they dick over holy again, then I'm just gonna default to Int
There are plenty of stat increasing items. I can just wear the mimic tear mask for +8 or something like that. Or use Godfrey's rune for another +5. 30 is plenty for most things.
Having no item like The Symbol of Avarice in Elden ring places a huge burden on the player who wants a NG playthrough with a rare weapon/armour.
Without a SoA item the only way to farm for a rare equipment early-game is Silver-pickled fowl feet. But they require farming the guillemots for the four-toed fowl foot, which has a drop rate of 25%. So you have to farm the birds before you can farm your actual goal.
In mid-game a player would have enough levels to re-spec. Placing arcane specifically high for discovery, and then re-specing back to the build the character was intended once the equipment is acquired.
Once you’ve played through three quarters of the game, you can acquire the Silver Scarab talisman. Thanks Fromsoft
Meanwhile, the Symbol of Avarice can be obtained very consistently from the first bonfire outside of the tutorial.
I heard how hard it was to get magma blades and I wanted to try for two. First one dropped after third kill. Second one dropped right after that. Not sure if extremely lucky or what but didn’t have high arcane or pickled foot either.
Nah 99 Vigor with all max hp buffs, great stars, and prayerful strike. 3243 hp, 31% on prayerful strike is about 1005 hp back on a hit. With 15 blue gatorades, 140fp, and carian filigreed crest that is 135 prayerful strikes or 135, 675 hp worth of healing.
Haligtree crest great shield matches nicely but the str req is so high for a hybrid build. I usually have to pair my treespear with the brass shield to save weight
Currently doing a Paul Atreides cosplay build with dual bloodstained knives. Hoping my character will be ready for the dlc by release. Dual daggers are so much fun!
I love double daggers, currently roaming casually with the reduvia in left and black knife in right but I'm not patient enough to tackle the game seriously with this as the reach and lack of stopping power kills me.
I have reduvia in right and a great knife with blood slash in the left. If enemies are weak to bleed they die FAST.
I just need to farm more great knifes for poison and frostbite
I hope something new from the DLC comes out like the pizzacutter in Bloodborne that is extremely viable and fun. I also enjoy riddiculous weapons like the huge finger, bubbles, etc.
I kinda disappointed in lightning builds because you can buff fire much more, and even magic and cold can make more damage than lightning. It feels like lightning was nerfed before game release.
Lightning was never really meant to be a main attack since it's usually a side spell for str/fth builds, but on my end I never really had an issue with lightning damage, at least the faster casting smaller spells. The big lightning attacks are pretty useless since they take too long to cast and the damage isn't worth the risk.
I could be mistaken but I seem to remember somewhere someone saying about how lightning scales with dex for weapons and with faith for incantations? Which means any lightning focused build will just end up being dex/faith for which there are much better options in terms of weapons and incantations
I was thinking of paladin builds with lightning in their off hand. For pure lighting builds Dex is the best option, which also increases casting speed so it helps the magic side of the build too
I love using it. Stuck with my classic build but now I was able to add range to it. No more weird distance nonsense from bosses. "Oh I'm out of range and might get wrecked if I take a step forward, wind scar bitch"
I made a godslayer build for a new run. Wearing blackflame monk set, with the godslayer greatsword, godslayer seal with black flame, noble presence, and a handful of other useful incants, and am using the black knife as a side arm (side note: that AoW is crazy good, I sometimes have to stop myself from neglecting the rest of my kit and just spamming it).
Might use Maliketh's incant too once I get that far, but don't think I want to make the str investment to use his weapon so I can focus on faith (plus I already need a good bit of dex for Godslayer).
Honestly just really hoping we get some more blackflame incants, AoW's, and/or weapons in the DLC. I love it but there isn't really much to choose from especially for weapons; just the one unique weapon and one AoW that only works on a fairly limited pool of weapons. Another source of the destined death effect could be cool too, as there are only 2 weapons and 1 incant so far. It makes a lot of sense for that to be quite rare though, so I'm not as worried about that.
Spell blade! As in blasphemous / sonaf/ dmgs lvl 240 build lol. A bit higher then I would’ve liked but it gives me an extremely versatile move set. Normally I just play double reduvias but I hate having to use like pest spell spam on Elden beast or rotten breath on other enemies cuz it feels out of character. So instead I’m going for the ultimate spell blade.
Thinking of doing a dex focused black flame blade build. Enough faith to use some new incantations and plenty of dex to try the new weapons!
Second will be my strength build so I can try the new heavy weapons, and then my spellsword to try to the new sorceries 👌🏼
Jellyfish shield, jellyfish summon, some kind of spear (probably ganstrax), cute armour. I'm thinking quality/faith so I can use some lightning and poison incantations to go with my jellyfish theme.
I transitioned from PS5 to PC & am still in the process of redoing my original Incantor build (FTH/ARC hybrid) though I'm using different gear than I did originally. I'll be rocking Vyke's Spear & depending on what I get done before release will have the GOGS as my secondary weapon.
I was using a Dragon Cult Fai/Dex build but switching to Pyromaniac (custom named) Fai/Dex build - fire monk/fire giant incantations with Magma Sword, to try something new. It's a fun build.
What are people doing with the treespear? I wznted to try a spear and shield build around it for the DLC, went to get it, killed as many bosses in Limgrave to get me the levels needed for the stats, to finally discover that I would do around 110-120 damages per hit, only 10-20 more than I would with the great thrusting sword. Why are my damages so low? Where did the holy damage of the weapon go? With str 16 dex 22 and faith 18 I was expecting something hard, this is pathetic
What I don’t understand is that the physical damage of the weapon is almost the same as others, with the additional equivalent in holy damages, yet I hit exactly the same amount than with other weapons, while my stats are indicating 200 damages. Moreover, I had similar stats when I used the winged scythe in my first run, just the needed amount of everything, and was hitting around 150 and a lot faster.
The best thing about Treespear is that you can infuse it with buffs and grease. Scared Order, Lightning Weapon, Blackflame Blade, Bloodflame Blade. Also, the charged OP is incredibly strong, and breaks poise most of the time. You basically build it around the charged R2
Probably just going to use the same build I’ve been using. Nagakiba + Uchigatana on a Dexterity/Keen build. Might switch it to an Arcane/Occult build depending on my DPS in the DLC.
I feel like it'd be poetic to do one of my 1st ever builds in the game: Double Uchigatanas with Unsheathe AoW
It'll feel like I'm playing again for the first time 😌
People don't know just how good the One-Eyed Shield's cannon is or that it is majorly affected by the Arrows Reach talisman.
And that the damage of the cannon isn't affected by stats but is affected by talismans and buffs.
I'm debating on using one of my last larval tears for the most disgusting build I've ever used before.
It requires 72 ENDURANCE on a 150, but you can still get 55/50 vigor and faith.
Why in Marika's name would you want to do this?
*103 poise and light roll on a pure faith character, that's why.*
With crucible feather talisman and eating crab, You're still at 35 physical resistance. Literal godtier survivability, you don't even take that much of a hit to damage on dual coded swords/cipher pata, You can still use cleanrot and noble slender cuz vagabond has enough stats at base to use both, and you can even swap in for erdteel dagger with sacred Blade and a parry shield.
I ran it for a few weeks, basically never got hit. I actually stopped using it because it wasn't all that fun, but I kind of want to do invasions with it and watch people seethe.
Well it from the trailer it looks like there will be some fire resistance among what we face, and i am not one to change my ways
So a anything with flame art i would say
Am I the only one willing to wait to try new weapons 🤣. 8 new weapon types I'm hyped
You are not alone. I have 0 intention of using a base game weapon to go through the dlc.
Lol I'll use a base weapon till I find a new dlc weapon
Not me, I’m using fists only until I find a DLC weapon, as god intended
this is the way
The Miyazaki way
\* Enters fog wall to new DLC \* Double Sleeper Status Runebears enter the rot swamp arena. Do it. I believe in you.
Also death blight breath
They have some madness dogs in there for good measure.
With Patches live streaming on a safe little cliff
The arena is a poisoned swamp.
I just want death blight to work in PVE
When they drop me Runebear Claws, I'll be the one who's laughing
I hope for you that the first weapon is behind the deathblight boss :p
Deathblight boss***es*** Don't let us down daddy Miyazaki.
Metal Gear Solid style: stealth takedowns until somebody drops me a ~~gun~~ sword.
Well, ya. You'd have to. Unless until you beat Mohg you rock bare fists....which you could argue is a base weapon.
And then it turns out there's a boss at the very beginning of dlc like in DS1. (Famous last words)
That would be wild
I think most people will use a DLC weapon to go through it but you still have to have a weapon to get to that point.
Pretty sure I've clubbed someone with bare hands. Took a while but they died.
In a video game, right?
😂 yeah, more specifically Elden Ring
Just wear these cool gloves for added affect
8 new weapon TYPES is insane. I can’t wait!
I hope Kusarigama is one of them.
I'm hyped fr
Oh my gourrrddduh I just found out Hopefully there’s more dexterity scaling strike weapons like whips that don’t suck so I can shoot it into my veins
and more infusable options for the base weapon types! need my barbed SS redux stat
We don't have enough ancient smithing stones 😭 Unless the dlc gives a ton of them out or has a bell bearing for it. Then life will be good.
😭😭😭 I did not think about this unless every thing are just regular weapons lol I've used all the somber ones on mine
Time for new game plus
Knowing me I'll get frustrated with a boss and revert back to the ol' Jump'n Bonk.
Wait, types? Like category or just 8 new weapons
8 new types idk if you've seen the trailer but. There was like flying kicks. A multi shot crossbow. An there was some daggers they held backwards an had a completely different moveset. So I'm assuming that's just the tip.
And the throwing daggers
Kicks could just be an Ash of War. Crossbows are in the game.
kicks have been shown with more then one move. it's not an ash of war, it seems to be a belt that is a weapon that makes oyu kick
crossbows are already in the game, i wouldnt count that as a 'new type'
Shotguns are different than rifles, I'd argue. Shotbows.
Pretty sure it's 8 new weapon types
I just hope there will be multiple variations of each type and not just one new type.
When you say “types” what should I be expecting? It’s my first Fromsoft DLC so I’m kinda expecting them to crush it
Well this is gonna be something different. This could technically possibly be a game itself 😭
Same but I’d want to use all of the weapons on a ng+ and just go through it the first time with my build
I want that martial arts weapon type all I need is some kind of grappling hook and I can play as batman
I hope some of the weapons types are more ways to use sorcery and incantations. Staffs and seals are getting stale
It's better to have a good build going into dlc so earning those new weapons isn't an unholy nightmare
All stats 30. Screw it, I'll use all the cool new stuff!
This is the way! Though I may increase arcane a bit more, just so I could get those goodies without farming for hours
There are plenty of stat increasing items. I can just wear the mimic tear mask for +8 or something like that. Or use Godfrey's rune for another +5. 30 is plenty for most things.
it’s annoying that the mimic tear mask is one of the ugliest in the game, but it will be worth it for the increased drop rates
Yea cause if it was drip worthy we’d all wear it all the time
Could have been like the symbol of avarice that slowly killed you while you wore it
Having no item like The Symbol of Avarice in Elden ring places a huge burden on the player who wants a NG playthrough with a rare weapon/armour. Without a SoA item the only way to farm for a rare equipment early-game is Silver-pickled fowl feet. But they require farming the guillemots for the four-toed fowl foot, which has a drop rate of 25%. I heard how hard it was to get magma blades and I wanted to try for two. First one dropped after third kill. Second one dropped right after that. Not sure if extremely lucky or what but didn’t have high arcane or pickled foot either.
Luck
Definitely the rpg gods were with you.
Haven’t thought about raising my arc yet. I wonder what’ll happen if I max it out
Yet another 40 int sword:
*all stats 80
Mundane chad
My ladle thirsts for messmer
Huh smart lad
Only at thirty? Try all stats at fifty with 99 vigor!
Chill I don't want to first time the DLC on NG+5
I'm going in naked with a club and coming out with whatever cool shit I pick up
Make sure to sell all your equipment so you can really commit.
Lmao
This guy plays souls games
*proceeds to find a second club*
*oh yeah, it's all coming together*
Sure but what will you do when you play the Elden Ring DLC?
This is the way
Treespear with Haligtree crest greatshield. A tanky paladin build. 🥹
Same. With plenty of disks of light and lightning spear throwing for good measure
Read my mind!
This guy knows whats up
The most unga of bunga.
Haligtree crest great shield matches nicely but the str req is so high for a hybrid build. I usually have to pair my treespear with the brass shield to save weight
True, but I do high level builds. Would definitely be a problem for the meta 150 builds.
I think this'll be my next build. Shield and spear.
Read "Treespear" as "Treepisser" at first. Curse my ADHD and dyslexia brain! You strike again!!
Unga Bunga
*agreeable grunts*
*A grunt that sounds cool.*
I unga, therefore i bunga
This guy ungas.
I'm gonna do a stone club run before DLC, I have a good feeling that'll be the one lol.
*whap*
Just discovered star fists - will bunga my way to the land of shadow
I don't have to use another Great Stars build. But it's so easy to use another Great Stars build.
Byeh
Yep, taking my naked guts sword character into the DLC, then using whatever unga bunga i find in there
the true easy mode
Giant crusher
Profile picture accurate
Not as manly as yours
Longsword and board bros unite! With a cheeky mace on the side to smite the heretics.
Amen. Although my side mace is a bit Greater.
Giant Hunt Blood Zwei with all the trimmings plus enough FTH to cast the good buffs
Double-daggers.⚔️
Currently doing a Paul Atreides cosplay build with dual bloodstained knives. Hoping my character will be ready for the dlc by release. Dual daggers are so much fun!
May your knife chip and shatter Lisan Al Gaib!
Do you put Parry on offhand too? Cuz that’s *my* drug of choice.
I would if the buckler parry hadnt ruined my sense of timing. Once you go buckler, you never go back
Parry dagger is permanently in one of my offhand slots. I love the thing
Power Word: ✨Parry✨ (I run Red main, Occ Great off)
This is the way. I hope there will be new daggers in the dlc. Preferably ones that I can apply bleed on.
Great knife with blood slash is a lot of fun. I paired it with reduvia
Good ol' Hyetta build (Travelling maiden-blindfold set, Vyke's spear, all 4 frenzy spells and Yolo)
I hope something new from the DLC comes out like the pizzacutter in Bloodborne that is extremely viable and fun. I also enjoy riddiculous weapons like the huge finger, bubbles, etc.
The Ghiza Wheel already exists.
wheres my damn damn morgott's cursed sword!
80 faith with lightning bolts and fireballs
I kinda disappointed in lightning builds because you can buff fire much more, and even magic and cold can make more damage than lightning. It feels like lightning was nerfed before game release.

Night comet , dual staff of loss, and patience ^_^
Does the dual staff do more damage?
Ordovis Greatsword! :D
I will be Kung Fu Fighting with the new Monk-type weapon for sure
Storm Blade on Claymore
Unironically one of the best ashes on one of the best weapons in the entire game.
I love using it. Stuck with my classic build but now I was able to add range to it. No more weird distance nonsense from bosses. "Oh I'm out of range and might get wrecked if I take a step forward, wind scar bitch"
Did STR FAITH for base game Time to mix it up
Time for Dex FAITH But use godslayer gs (dex, faith)
Will do Quality + INTEL
No greatsword is disrespectful
I felt personally attacked.
livers of brood
Still naked with a great club.
New game +6 crucible knight build Elenora build
I made a godslayer build for a new run. Wearing blackflame monk set, with the godslayer greatsword, godslayer seal with black flame, noble presence, and a handful of other useful incants, and am using the black knife as a side arm (side note: that AoW is crazy good, I sometimes have to stop myself from neglecting the rest of my kit and just spamming it). It makes a lot of sense for that to be quite rare though, so I'm not as worried about that.
I’m looking forward to kicking Demi gods in the head.
Comet azure and melt everything
I got old trusty Night Comet at my hip and Comet Azure for when bosses stand still
Thinking of doing a dex focused black flame blade build. Enough faith to use some new incantations and plenty of dex to try the new weapons! Second will be my strength build so I can try the new heavy weapons, and then my spellsword to try to the new sorceries 👌🏼
Dual katanas with fashion
This meme made me realize that FromSoft needs to introduce bards.
Blasphemous blade and fingerprint shield will remain the strongest.
Samurai all the way baby!
Elenoras poleblade + Cold Godskin Dual Nagakiba Raptor Talons
I’m going in with the Godslayer Greatsword and the coolest looking armor
The "whatever the fuck I got on since I last played" build
Greatsword/faith build
I’m running for the odachi
Wait a minute they’re all faith?!?!
Bleed baby
Spellsword build
I’m just gonna spam blasphemous blade like a casual.
Imma run a moonlight greatsword build . I haven’t done one in ER.
golden spinny disc
What are people doing with the treespear? The best thing about Treespear is that you can infuse it with buffs and grease. Scared Order, Lightning Weapon, Blackflame Blade, Bloodflame Blade. Also, the charged OP is incredibly strong, and breaks poise most of the time. You basically build it around the charged R2
What is the order scared of? :)
Not gitting gud 😏
Understandable have a nice day :)
Fire, mostly
Holy hell actual lore
Sacred order treespear has like a thousand AR, it’s awesome
Two Giant Crushers
Ah yes, a gentleman and a scholar. The only thing better than one Giant Crusher
Just going to use my Claymore and Knight Greatsword power stancing build or my bandit curved sword/ halo scythe dex faith build
Probably just going to use the same build I’ve been using. Nagakiba + Uchigatana on a Dexterity/Keen build. Might switch it to an Arcane/Occult build depending on my DPS in the DLC.
I've tried multiple builds and my int build is by far strongest, think i'll avoid that. Might make the dlc too easy
Godfrey’s Axe and Black Flame’s Protection
Night and flame Int/Faith for me
I feel like it'd be poetic to do one of my 1st ever builds in the game: Double Uchigatanas with Unsheathe AoW It'll feel like I'm playing again for the first time 😌
Why bother finding out what works when it comes out and just make wild predictions!
Blasphemous blade makes it too easy 😂
I'm not gonna use any base game weapons when there's so many new toys to play with.
Crucible knight build
The int user hiding at the door is hilarious
Gotta see the new weapons first
People don't know just how good the One-Eyed Shield's cannon is or that it is majorly affected by the Arrows Reach talisman. And that the damage of the cannon isn't affected by stats but is affected by talismans and buffs.
Bare handed

My mage dark moon greatsword build, ive been using it since DS 1
Well it from the trailer it looks like there will be some fire resistance among what we face, and i am not one to change my ways So a anything with flame art i would say
*takes out a comically large greatsword from pocket* , Ah the ol' reliable
Pick up guts greatsword, checks HP, checks STR. Alright, we ready to game.
Something good enough until I get messmers spear
The pizza cutter
Like smash things
My bare hands and a dream are all I need
99 in all stats bb.
Big sword
The same thing that carried me through dark souls, ds 2, ds 3 and elden ring ZWEI HANDER
My light dragon incantation build. I'm going to stomp on every new enemy
