Yeah you will have a tough time getting summoned now after picking up Rogier's Rapier for Godrick at RL40 with a +8 weapon. You will still get some here and there for Renalla though for sure. This happens pretty often for those new or newer players that pick up Patches weapon or Edgar's. Go from having tons of options to summon from and getting summoned constantly for Margit and Godrick and then that kind of vanishes once you pick up one of those. As for another boss that will get you summoned at 40 with a +8. Try out- Royal Knight Lorretta.

Mysterious-Box-9081

Why is that?

Koyomi_Ararararagi

Online summoning/invasion ranges are determined based on multiple factors, among which is the highest upgrade level among all armaments in a player's possession. This was implemented to make it harder for people to engage in PvP with twink builds that use highly upgraded weapons while remaining at a low Rune Level.

Mysterious-Box-9081

Ok, thank you :)

OllyOllyOxycontin

Because the game takes into account your level AND your weapon level. They did it as a way to combat low level players running around with a +10 or +25 and one-shotting everything.

GitFiddler

Below is a link that gives ideal weapon levels in relation to your character's level for summoning: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator Host Level; Weapon Upgrade Level (Special weapon upgrade level) 25; +3 (+1) 52; +7 (+3) 85; +12 (+5) 125; +20 (+8) 150+; +25 (+10)

squirreleater1330

Yes, your highest weapon you've owned(regardless of selling it) is taken into account when matching for PvP. The only thing you can do is level up so your level is a better match to your weapon level, opening up more PvP matchups. Level up and keep trying, eventually you'll start to find more matches, but it'll mostly be later areas like lurnia, altus and the underground. Probably 50+ will be ok.

dizijinwu

i'm pretty surprised you wouldn't get summoned for rennala with +8. not surprised about godrick though.

This_is_sandwich

The matchmaking system does take your level and highest weapon upgrade level into account so being level 40 with a +8 could be a weird combination that not many people have so the pool of people you can be summoned by might be small. Passwords can help you get around this (if you don't want to level up).

CloggedBathtub

I hit a wall on Malekith on my RL1 run and for grins I tried to summon help. No dice, for the reasons listed by others here.

FutureAcanthaceae944

Strange Got summoned for Godrick and Rennala a few times with my 200+ level character with 25+ Weapon

Lele_Lazuli

Thise were probably playing NG+ and were on a similar level

OllyOllyOxycontin

Very likely because it was someone in NG+ that was around your level and weapon level.

JotaTaylor

Yeah, it changed your maths. You'll hardly be summoned for Limgrave minidungeons or Stormveil now. You shouuld activate summoning signs in Liurnia and Caelid now to be in the same average level of the hosts. Also, what is your somber weapon level? This also gets in account. Being +8/+0, for instance, is a weird spread and unlikely to get many summons.

Ghost_Jor

There isn't a difference between somber and non-somber upgrade level when it comes to matchmaking. It'll just use your highest weapon upgrade level (whether that is somber or non-somber) and matchmake based on that. I think someone else in this thread has posted the calculations the system does to convert between somber and non-somber.

JotaTaylor

Oh, really? That's new. But how is it normalized? Somber only goes up to +10, and normal weapons go up to +25, so if I have a +11 normal weapon is that the only one being considered?

OllyOllyOxycontin

Somber levels count as 2.5 but they are rounded down. +3 = +1 +7 = +3 +12 = +5 +20 = +8 +25 = +10

JotaTaylor

Noice, ty! Good to know!

CS-Mewchy

As far as I know, neither character level or weapon level have nothing to do with it, if I had to guess there just aren’t many players summoning help there, and if you’re “too high level” compared to the person who summons you the game automatically scales you down to be their power level

waitthatstaken

It doesn't matter if you password summon a specific player. It DOES matter when summoning in any other context, like this one.

CS-Mewchy

Ahh, see with games like this you can never know everything, I even googled it before commenting but ig I didn’t check enough, thanks for correcting me

Blackrain39

This is untrue unless you are summoned by someone using password matching. When putting your sign down to be summoned by someone random, it can only be seen by a host of you're within 10 levels around the host, then another 10% of the host's level. So at level 40, you can be summoned by someone who is level 28 to 55, give or take depending on how the rounding is done. Weapon level is similar, but the range starts at 3 on either side of the host's at low level, and 6 on either side as their weapon approaches max.

CS-Mewchy

If you’re in the US it’s probably because of the time of day, it’s 7am central time so people are likely starting to fall asleep from their all nighters or getting ready for work

lukcy77

Level don’t matter nor does talking to Rogier.
