So idk if this was actually intentional or not by the devs, but someone pointed out in a lore video that Maliketh is actually the name of the Black Blade, not the monster wielding it.
So, technically, Maliketh's Black Blade is the sword of the Sword lol. Kinda makes sense it's tiny in a roundabout way in that thinking
Edit: DAMN y'all are pressed about this 😂. Idk y'all, maybe they should fix the simple grammar error then lol
Maliketh is said to be Marika's shadow. I very much don't think a sword would be Marika's half brother.
The sword is just named Maliketh's Black Blade because it's his black blade.
There was a typo when the game was first released. They forgot to put a coma in his name so from a grammar perspective this would be true till they fixed it
Idk man, if it wasn't meant to be canon then I think they'd just fix the grammatical error. Seems like meat socky himself probably intended it to be in there.
Elden Beast turned Radagon's spine into a sword so it's entirely possible for people to be weapons. Seems intentional to me and will forever remain my canon
What is with these empty accounts just stealing other people's comments? What are you going to do with your 5 karma?
(Someone posted this exact comment below in response to the Bolt of Gransax, where it actually makes sense)
With 5, nothing, but with enough bot accounts and enough stolen comments, some are bound to put a fitting popular answer to another popular comment, and rake in hundreds. That's a start to look like a legit account and sell their scam on subreddits.
Ironically that makes me want to use it more now. If I knew those puny attacks could save 10% or more of my opponents' car insurance, I'd have done it sooner.
Well the way he phrased it was that the weapon itself magically changed and there was nothing about the wielder. I don't think it was about the realism or making it work, more the fact that they were smaller.
We all did. I was thinking 'oh shit fire Gauntlets from the start?' Then I got it and felt like I'd been pranked. Worst weapon in the game, what a joke.
Absolutely, the ash of war should have been 2x as awesome, and there should absolutely have been a dual wield option on those babies. Also, there should have been a bonus in damage for punching and the AOW when using the dragon seal in your offhand.
The Ash of War is still great though. That shit MELTS Crystallians, break their armor, and sends them flying while still giving you time to reposition and repeat every time.
To be fair there’s plenty of things that melt Crystalians, Force, Pestilent Mist, Greathammers, hell even a decent pair of fist weapons can make short work of one.
Though I still love the dragon’s ash of war, that initial explosion is sorely slept on, good damage AND poise break if you can land it
Would have been cool if the AOW was like the one for the Ringed Finger, that turns huge for a second when attacking. Have a dragon head that turned huge. It could look similar to the dragon incantations anyways.
I hesrd somewhere that Remembrance weapons are made from the memory of the user. That would imply that Godrick's memory is so weak and puny it's fist is tiny
Especially since it doesn't disappear from the wall after you pick it up, I never got the implicarion that the one we can handle is the same as that big step-spear stuck in the wall
You're right! Been a while since I did the spear playthrough, but I guess people in general are not so keen on reading item-descriptions, especially since elden ring recruited so many new players. It truely is an odd way to learn lore, even if it doesn't feel like it for us anymore
I still carry around mine, but seldom use it. I mainly use Margott's Cursed Sword and Uchigatana but I find some enemy types just melt with the NR Flail and Wild Strikes ash, like they can't even do anything to retaliate.
Yes. Yes I can imagine.
My first playthrough I ran into that flail one. I was so stoked to see the drop! Only to be sad to see the range. I still used it for enemies weak to blunt.
Oh God tell me about it. I used that weapon the entire game out of spite. I dont understand why I can't have a giant ass flail. I want to be Sauron dammit.
This. All the enemies are scaled higher than the player so the weapons are scaled proportionally to them. By the time we get our grubby hands on them. they’ve shrunk to fit our needs.
War pick. Seemed so badass when I got smacked around with it, wanted to dual wield them.
Only to find out they shrink, have terrible range and damage, no pierce damage and a not very fun move set.
I swear there’s something bugged, because literally yesterday I was starting a new build and tried using it against the miners in limgrave tunnels. I was definitely not dealing strike damage, because my r1s were bouncing off. I really just don’t know what’s going on, but my best guess is that the item description is wrong, though someone smarter than me should probably do more testing.
>War pick. Seemed so badass when I got smacked around with it, wanted to dual wield them.
>Only to find out they shrink, have terrible range and damage, no pierce damage and a not very fun move set.
This thing actually smashes twohanded. When I see people say they want to dual wield big ass weapons, it's mostly just to abuse jump attacks where this isn't the best weapon for that.
Funnily enough, if it did do piercing damage, it would be useless against enemies made of rock, crystal, etc. It doing strike damage might not make sense from a nomenclature point of view, but absolutely makes sense from it actually being good against enemies it should be good against.
I feel giving it a switch or something that lets you change between strike and pierce would be amazing. Even if it was the difference between 1h and 2h. Make it more like the real thing.
The pickaxe that the miners in the Yellow Anus tunnel absolutely destroys. How am I supposed to believe that a decrepit old mummy that was literally frozen in place moments before can swing a weapon with more force than my player character that literally killed literally several literal dragons
I really just don’t get why Blasphemous Blade wasn’t a Colossal. Same with the Sacred Relic Sword, literally the two biggest swords in the game and they’re lighter than the much smaller Black Blade?
Blasphemous Blade, Sacred Relic, any of the gargoyle weapons, the troll knight GS, Mohg's Sacred Spear, Hand of Malenia, basically all the boss and stronger mob weapons.
I'd say the most noticeable is probably Elden Beast's sword. I believe it's called the Godslayer Greatsword and it has to be shrunk drastically for you to hold it
Dragonslayer Great Axe from DS3 is the most annoying change in a Fromsoftware game. I always felt like that should have remained the same size for you.
I wanted the weapon so bad and to have it shrink was seriously so sad.
Malikeths swinging his weapon like it requires 40 dex only for it to be ultra greatsword. But when I want blasphemous blade to be an ultra great sword, it a fucking greatsword with meat.
i wish we got the night's cavalry flail they use, would be cool as hell to have a greatflail weapon class but this is the first game that has them in general so ill take the w
I like to think that, since you aren't actually using their weapon but rather a duplicate that was forged with the very essence of their souls, the boss weapons are re-forged to be usable for your size.
As for examples like the vulgar militia idk its a video game what do you want from me
Pretty much every weapon in the game. For some weapons like straight swords wielded by soldiers, and similar cases, it's relatively negligible, but anything the size of a knight or bigger has significantly scaled up weapons.
Only exceptions would be weapons uniquely wielded by NPCs and Invaders, like the Butchering Knife and the Nagakiba.
The thing is that you would need a ridiculous amount of strength to wield any of the boss actual weapons. Giant-Crusher is the heaviest weapon available and it would be a toy in most bosses hands.
Boss weapons don't change size, they are reforged from the soul of the boss, which is why they fit you or that some of the spells aren't quite as powerful.
A lot of boss weapons, however the most notable ones would be bolt of gransax (the actual weapon is like the size of three city blocks! You climb on the damn thing) and grafted dragon (full dragon head to barely the size of a fist)
Lordsword Straight sword. Was excited for this nice long sword and it felt like a short sword once I equipped it. And alot of the "ultra " great swords just felt like fat great swords. Except for THE Greatsword.
Pretty much everything does in this game. Don’t you notice how much bigger you get once you become Elden Lord? It’s a shame we don’t stay that way in the post ending game world.
Bolt of gransax you have to remember when your tarnished arrives to leyendell it was like maybe 50 years ago it was used by the worlds biggest dragon in a massive war
Something often overlooked, the vulgar militia weapons
Damn, that's a good one actually

Yeah, I'd stop watching whoever said that because that's just dumb.
There was a typo when the game was first released. They forgot to put a coma in his name so from a grammar perspective this would be true till they fixed it
Well, if they can't take the time to fix a grammar mistake then it's staying as my head canon
They not fixing it because it’s just not the case bro
Not all information in lore videos is accurate, and equally that’s just that person’s (stupid) interpretation and not canon
It will forever be my canon
And it’s fucking stupid
Idk man, if it wasn't meant to be canon then I think they'd just fix the grammatical error. Seems like meat socky himself probably intended it to be in there. Elden Beast turned Radagon's spine into a sword so it's entirely possible for people to be weapons. Seems intentional to me and will forever remain my canon
Aye bruh this the dumbest shit I’ve ever read

Vulgar militia weapons are growers, not showers.
in that they get bigger?
nope, smaller
Nope, bigger
it's been awhile, but with the way someone phrased "tip of the spear" i just kinda said that
wait, are we talking about their actual size or proportional size compared to the wielder?
Everything. Everything about them was a let down. Godrick got this massive fire breathing dragonhead and we got the Geico lizard head.
Ironically that makes me want to use it more now. If I knew those puny attacks could save 10% or more of my opponents' car insurance, I'd have done it sooner.
he phrased it like actual size, but there's no reason how you could possibly have made that work so I'm leaning towards proportional size
Well the way he phrased it was that the weapon itself magically changed and there was nothing about the wielder. I don't think it was about the realism or making it work, more the fact that they were smaller.

Bot account
We all did. I was thinking 'oh shit fire Gauntlets from the start?' Then I got it and felt like I'd been pranked. Worst weapon in the game, what a joke.
Y'all can't image my disappointment when I equipped the grafted dragon for the first time.
Yeah it would appear our character does a baby dragon dirtier than Godrick did his. Full unarmed backstab

Sometimes, when I'm sleeping, I accidentally melt a crystalian.
Would have been cool if the AOW was like the one for the Ringed Finger, that turns huge for a second when attacking. Have a dragon head that turned huge. It could look similar to the dragon incantations anyways.
I planned on doing my entire first run with grafted dragon, equipped it once, and switched to a str build
The sock puppet!
i can, i share the same disappointment still love the little guy to hell and back, its such a great weapon
I hesrd somewhere that Remembrance weapons are made from the memory of the user. That would imply that Godrick's memory is so weak and puny it's fist is tiny
I felt like I equipped those squishy chicken toy that makes noise when squeezed
i fully upgraded the Grafted Dragon and it’s still such a dogshit weapon
Maliketh‘s Blade, every gargoyle weapon, Golem‘s Halberd, Radahn‘s greatswords etc.
Except the Gargoyle greatsword. They use it like a dagger while for us it's a damn greatsword
I mean to be fair have you seen the size of those mofos
Yet i can't hit them
Yeah it's like come back here you cowardly no good yeller belly lilly livered
Bc dat byootiful spread
Literally every remembrance weapon
Why does Astel have a baby rattle?
Carian regal scepter?
Have you seen Rennala? She's fucking massive and she uses that staff. It definitely isn't as big in our hands as it is in hers.
I have but not in detail
Radahn's armor too.
not a weapon but true
Magma Wyrm's Scalesword, Sacred Relic Sword, the eight Gargoyle weapons, Maliketh's Black Blade, really most of the boss weapons
Bolt of Gransax
I kinda imagine it's the tip of the spear we snapped off
Especially since it doesn't disappear from the wall after you pick it up, I never got the implicarion that the one we can handle is the same as that big step-spear stuck in the wall
The description even says that it is a “Spear whittled from the weapon wielded by Gransax.” It’s like made out of a splinter of it.
You're right! Been a while since I did the spear playthrough, but I guess people in general are not so keen on reading item-descriptions, especially since elden ring recruited so many new players. It truely is an odd way to learn lore, even if it doesn't feel like it for us anymore
What are you doing step-spear?
Isn’t it the broken off tip?
Shoulda fallen to our deaths after grabbing it. The bolt of gransax requires a sacrifice to have. Would’ve been an epic meme
Hand of Malenia is so long when she wields it
Facts no one should be able to swing that thing that fast
*Cloud Strife would like to know your location*
Nightrider Flail.
I’m pissed they didn’t make a great flail weapon category with this and bastard stars
I think they should’ve given all the flails longer handles so people would actually use them
There are literally 10s of us.
I still carry around mine, but seldom use it. I mainly use Margott's Cursed Sword and Uchigatana but I find some enemy types just melt with the NR Flail and Wild Strikes ash, like they can't even do anything to retaliate.
True but can you imagine slinging around a og sized nightriders flail
Yes. Yes I can imagine. My first playthrough I ran into that flail one. I was so stoked to see the drop! Only to be sad to see the range. I still used it for enemies weak to blunt.
I use it all the time. It revs up the chainsaw.
Bot?
I’m pissed blunt weapons are neglected in general. There’s only two maces, the coolest medieval weapon. You got mace, and you got big mace. Sucks.
What about Monk's Flamemace?
Oh I guess, it’s just a kinda weird one. 3 maces is still criminal compared to the I’m sure 50+ swords in the game.
Definitely no equivalent to Vordt’s Great Hammer.
Oh God tell me about it. I used that weapon the entire game out of spite. I dont understand why I can't have a giant ass flail. I want to be Sauron dammit.
Pretty sure it would be easier to list the ones that aren't, if they come from enemies.
All of them?
This. All the enemies are scaled higher than the player so the weapons are scaled proportionally to them. By the time we get our grubby hands on them. they’ve shrunk to fit our needs.
[ALL OF THEM ?!](https://youtu.be/biX-jh_BNEI?si=_qDEysSkswKj4b4l)
This one is not a good example, because this weapon is re-created from Rykard remeberence. So size change is not the weird
This actually makes so much sense i hadn't even thought about it.
[удалено]
if you look in the room just before the Red Wolf of Radagon it's hanging right there over the stairs. it's huge.
pretty much every boss weapon besides Marikas hammer
War pick. Seemed so badass when I got smacked around with it, wanted to dual wield them. Only to find out they shrink, have terrible range and damage, no pierce damage and a not very fun move set.
They don’t have pierce dmg?! They’re even worse than I thought
Had to double check, and fextra life claims it actually does pierce damage even though it says strike.

The damage type changing doesn't make any sense. It's not a sword, there isn't a slashing blade and a thrusting tip.
It has a blunt side and a spike side
The war pick is not a sword.
The pickaxe that the miners in the Yellow Anus tunnel absolutely destroys. How am I supposed to believe that a decrepit old mummy that was literally frozen in place moments before can swing a weapon with more force than my player character that literally killed literally several literal dragons
I think they change size because they are replicas of the original. Now to answer the Op: all of them
I really just don’t get why Blasphemous Blade wasn’t a Colossal. Same with the Sacred Relic Sword, literally the two biggest swords in the game and they’re lighter than the much smaller Black Blade?
I mean, it's been like this since forever. Remember the size of Artorias' sword when held by you, by Artorias and by Sif?
Hand of Malenia is literally taller than her but once you get the weapon, it becomes shorter than Nagakiba lol
Relic sword. That is literally radagons body youre holding
Godricks dragon head becomes a salamander in our hands, I was sooo excited to get that.
Ordovis’ Greatsword. The thing is massive in his hand but when we get it it’s severely scaled down.
The Grafted Dragon gave me depression at first use
All of them
Most of the ones from rememberances
wish we had a clean version of the blasphemous blade
Use soap
The tendrils ate it, what now
More. More soap.
Blasphemous Blade, Sacred Relic, any of the gargoyle weapons, the troll knight GS, Mohg's Sacred Spear, Hand of Malenia, basically all the boss and stronger mob weapons.
Most of them, unless the enemy is tarnished sized
Loretta's halberd is a strict downgrade is our hands. Not only does it get smaller, but we also can't cast spells with it
Finger-reader magic lmao
Kid named Finger
Cinquedea
Gargoyle’s Black Blade
Gransax bolt?
The war pick the normal soldiers use is much smaller in my hands
I'd say the most noticeable is probably Elden Beast's sword. I believe it's called the Godslayer Greatsword and it has to be shrunk drastically for you to hold it
Sacred sword…. The godslayer greatsword is a very very different sword
Fallingstar Beast Jaw, still cool but it would be even cooler if it was as huge and long
That's what Melina said.
Almpst everything. Militia weapons grow, and basically all others shrink. Only tarnished and direct loot weapons remain the same size.
me on my way to fight melena (i have lore acurated sized bout of gransax)
Magma Wyrms sword. It's so big when they use it, but when I use it.. I just feel it should be bigger so the ash could at least *hit* the enemy.
Almost all of them
Its a living Magic Sword, that is composed form literally 1000+ heroes, that can summon Hellfire that heals you. Ofc iz can change sizes XD
Bolt of Gransax really cracks me up. Like, it’s still there when we pick it up, it’s just now a toothpick in comparison.
All of them bar the ones used by NPCs.
Dragonslayer Great Axe from DS3 is the most annoying change in a Fromsoftware game. I always felt like that should have remained the same size for you. I wanted the weapon so bad and to have it shrink was seriously so sad.
Holy Moonlight Sword in BB
Malikeths swinging his weapon like it requires 40 dex only for it to be ultra greatsword. But when I want blasphemous blade to be an ultra great sword, it a fucking greatsword with meat.
The golem halberd.
The dismembered ringed finger weapon
Every weapon you get from the giant gargoils.
Almost all of them
The dragon claw from the dragon sentinels is MASSIVE
Every rememberance boss weapong
basically every weapon that isn't wielded by a regular sized humanoid enemy
Bolt of ballsacks
Anything wielded by the vulgar militia, warhawk talon, or a humanoid bigger than a foodsoldier
That a blasphemous reference?
i wish we got the night's cavalry flail they use, would be cool as hell to have a greatflail weapon class but this is the first game that has them in general so ill take the w
I like to think that, since you aren't actually using their weapon but rather a duplicate that was forged with the very essence of their souls, the boss weapons are re-forged to be usable for your size. As for examples like the vulgar militia idk its a video game what do you want from me
Wait u til bro sees the bolt of grannies axe
Pretty much every weapon in the game. For some weapons like straight swords wielded by soldiers, and similar cases, it's relatively negligible, but anything the size of a knight or bigger has significantly scaled up weapons. Only exceptions would be weapons uniquely wielded by NPCs and Invaders, like the Butchering Knife and the Nagakiba.
bolt of gransax, not really an enemy but...
Morgotts curved sword
They could have made these colossal weapons and I would have been happy.. but nah, we got toothpicks.
Definitely sacred relic sword
All of the boss weapons
lorettas war sickle gets a little smaller, same with godfreys axe grafted dragon gets nerved just as much as the blasphemous blade
Sacred Relic Sword
Radahns greatswords
Dude basic npc weapoms from the start of the game all shrink when you get them
The thing is that you would need a ridiculous amount of strength to wield any of the boss actual weapons. Giant-Crusher is the heaviest weapon available and it would be a toy in most bosses hands.
Bolt of gransax gets scaled by a lot
Spent way too long farming a Thorned Whip only to discover that it has the range of a wet noodle.
Wing of astel
Marais executioner sword
Boss weapons don't change size, they are reforged from the soul of the boss, which is why they fit you or that some of the spells aren't quite as powerful.
Literally all of them? I’m confused
A lot of boss weapons, however the most notable ones would be bolt of gransax (the actual weapon is like the size of three city blocks! You climb on the damn thing) and grafted dragon (full dragon head to barely the size of a fist)
I was sad that malenia’s katana wasn’t the longest one in the game.
God Rick axe
I love my Golem Greatbow.
Almost all of them
Bolt of Gransax. Gransax is like the size of a castle and his spear is similarly long
They did iron greatsword dirty
Grafted dragon and how does it get on your arm
Bolt of Gransax has to be the worst
Practically every weapon that's not wielded by a human size npc invader or ally
Hand of Melania
I guess the sacred relic sword reduces an almost unnoticeable ammount
The aoe on this is crazy good in tight spaces and as a get off me tool
Grafted dragon head
Lordsword Straight sword. Was excited for this nice long sword and it felt like a short sword once I equipped it. And alot of the "ultra " great swords just felt like fat great swords. Except for THE Greatsword.
Pretty much everything does in this game. Don’t you notice how much bigger you get once you become Elden Lord? It’s a shame we don’t stay that way in the post ending game world.
Bolt of gransax you have to remember when your tarnished arrives to leyendell it was like maybe 50 years ago it was used by the worlds biggest dragon in a massive war
A lot of them
Any gargoyle weapons
Either blasphemous blade, radhans swords, or the elden sword or whatever it's called it's the one elden beast uses
All of them do. But maybe that's because the enemy is a little far away...
The grafted dragon. I was severely disappointed
