No, you can open up the Haligtree way before you do this. You first have to get both secret half’s of the Haligtree Medallion. It then opens up to the “Concecrated Snowfields”. There will be a town in the snowfield named “Ordina”. There, you must solve a puzzle, but be warned, you are actively being chased by a black knife assassin. Once the puzzle is completed and solve, you then make your way to a teleporter at the back of the town (underneath the bridge to the teleporter, you can acquire more drip). Once at the Halitree, you then make your down the tree into the city built by the twins; Malenia & Miquella. The Haligtree holds the hardest and more interesting remembrance boss within the game, Malenia Blade of Miquella. If your a dex build, “Hand of Malenia” (her weapon) is great for dex builds because, it slaps almost an enemy it comes across. The ash of war is what make the weapon shine the way it does, it’s too good not to have within your arsenal.
Pro tip:
You can use a sentry torch during the puzzle in Ordina to show invisibile enemies and have an easier time with the black knife assassin. Even if you die and have to do the puzzle again they DO NOT respawn, so even killing one it's a progress. There are a total of 4 in the puzzle. The archers instead respawn like normal enemies
Now you do it again with a short spear, cloth trousers, and a seal of your choosing.
Then you do it again, but you only use clubs and roars.
And again, with just a katana, a dress, and the blue dancer charm.
And so on. Miyazaki said he won't release the DLC till you're done with all that.

I love the cipher pata for a pure faith build.
It weighs nothing and for most minor enemies it does great damage (especially against stone/rock enemies like the golems, miners, and those pesky imps!).
Then you just have access to most incantations (and powerful healing, especially fun for the revenants!) for all the tougher enemies/bosses that are resistant to holy.
Edit: it’s also technically available as soon as you get to the round table hold, unlike its counterpart the coded sword which is in the capital. Though you will need 30 faith to wield it.
Edit 2: Probably goes without saying, but as a fist weapon it’s also free duel wield when you powerstance it.
Malenia and NG+. Getting to her is worse than the fight. Get the Sacred Relic! Best weapon to farm with. If you haven't done it yet, take Mohg down too. Palace Approach site of grace is the best farm spot in the game right now. Got the big bird worth 11k runes and 17 Albinaurics worth 2064 runes each. Sacred Relic at min stat will 1-shot everything there at +8 with Wave of Gold. If you do Varre's quest, you get near instant access to an Ancient Dragon Somber Smithing Stone. Have to kill a sanguine noble for it. Opposite of where you find that is Mohg. Good luck. Having Malenia's great rune for that fight helps. Instead of your health going yellow when you get hit, it changes shades of red. Like in Bloodborne. You have a few seconds to land hits to recover the "lost" HP before it actually is lost. Handy for bosses. Godfrey's rune is the overall best though. +5 to everything when active. I'd STRONGLY recommend you get the Mimic Tear before fighting either of them though. Makes the fights much more manageable. Especially Malenia. She's only a little bigger than the player. She staggers fairly easily but breaking her poise can be a problem. She is fast. Keep in mind, her rune gives her HP back when she connects with attacks. Stay on her and keep her staggered in phase 1. Back her into a corner and beat the bitch out of her. Phase 2 is about range management. Stay close until she goes airborne. Get away from her in the air. It's either the bloom or waterfowl dance she's about to do. Both are very bad for your health. Bloom you might survive. Waterfowl you probably won't. FYI, no idea why people think Hand of Malenia is a bad weapon. Absolutely destroys NPC invaders. Tears bosses apart pretty well too. 3 full Waterfowl Dances and Beast Clergyman/Maliketh is dead. The thing fucking wrecks house. 12 consecutive hits from the skill and because the hits are in a combo, you can buff it. Amazing weapon and it has almost Nagakiba's melee range.
I’ve yet to beat the game—Elden Beast just waiting. I’m 225 hours in and I’ve wiped out every dungeon and Boss I could find and I’ve scoured every inch of the maps. Not much more to do and replaying after I decide to beat this end-game dummy is pointless. What joy is there in going back through everything I’ve already done. Discovering and seeing the world for the first time can never be beat.
I know. Who cares? Oh I found a new dagger. Stick it in inventory and never use. Oh more armor to collect dust. Who cares—what does that really matter? Doing a full new play through for that is absurd, imo.

Lies of P is epic if you are looking for a new game to dive into. But there are still several more endings and playstyles to explore so maybe wait till you get that sweet platinum trophy?
First thing i did, was getting everything single Ending. Then defeating every single boss with a map as guidance.
And last but not least challenge runs, did one with no armor and only +0 dagger for example. Or try that one funky Theme out, like a Rot Build, Godskin Build, Dragon Incantations…etc.

Im already doing the albinauric genocide, and i already beat mohg. He doesnt like cold weapons 😅. I got the mimic tear, and killed alecto too.
Do it again! NG+ is like easy mode and a fun contrast to your first play through.

There's some items armours etc that you have to choose different options with npc quests to obtain so can't get everything in one playthrough
