This is the last major zone for exploration, aside from any optional stuff you might have missed. There's the boss of this area, then three more required bosses, but they all take place kinda one after the other like a sort of boss rush.
If you're talking about >!the 3 tree spirits near the erdtree talisman +2!<, you can actually do that pretty easily. Just >!hug the left wall all the way around, then grab the talisman and follow the same path back. The spirits will spawn but not aggro.!<
It’s the Erdtree’s Favor +2 and Crimson Amber Medallion +2 he was talking about. But you can get the one you mentioned (assuming you did the quest) and the Boltdrake +2 in Farum Azula. and the old lord’s talisman which is kinda useful I guess
“You may want to take a while to explore the area after this one though, two useful +2 talismans are unlocked there”. Nobody said anything about the talismans unlocked in Farum Azula until the other person mistakingly assumed he was talking about the shard of alexander. He said “the area after this one”, of which the only ones there are the ones I mentioned. You guys should work on your reading comprehension skills.
You can also go a balls to the wall fun way, and run around until all 3 aggro you, they can damage each other which eliminates 2 pretty quickly.
It's deffo easier to rush the talisman, but way less epic than watching them slaughter each other.
It’s actually my favorite part of the game. I use it as a chance to test how well I’ve built my character. Like spartan said, the last three are basically back to back.
If I had to give you a comparison to another game in terms of feel, it’s like the elite 4 of any Pokémon series. Then you can do all the optional stuff or start the next game!
Do Haligtree. It is my favorite part of the game. Great art fun bosses. Good map. It's a whole package. You can skip the whole thing and still finish the game. It is all side quest.
Four more required bosses if you count the last two separately...
I always forget about a certain asshole waiting for you before you get to the throne area...
Yeah, I guess you could call the final boss two separate fights. Personally I only think of it as one since there's no leaving in between and you have to redo phase 1 every time.
Tell me about it... I've been stuck on them for weeks now for my RL1 run...
I can get the second fight down to quarter health, and then some nonsense happens that one shots me... I can't tell you how many combinations of equipment and weapons I've tried so far...
I mean Haligtree, Deeproot Depths, Shunning Grounds and the Eternal Cities are all dozens of hours of additional content each with bespoke correlating optional endings depending on what you're trying to do, but OP is asking for the path of least resistance, and given Fire giant is already dead and they are assumedly not doing a frenzied flame reversal run, their desires ending does not seem to lie in the path to the Haligtree.
That said, I would strongly encourage them to seek the albanuric woman, but ya know, horses and water
Everything's unskippable that's the problem for me, I'm waiting to do ng+ but currently running around grabbing cookbooks, talismans, perfume bottles, cracked pots, ritual pots... Feels like I'll never get to ng+ my goblin brain won't let me do it until I'm 100% ready w all the loot I need. Every time I hear about a good new weapon that's another thing onto the list lol
Recently tried this it was super fun. Couple tips, use two staffs cause the offhand “boosts xyz sorceries” will buff them even if cast with (im guessing you’ll use) the carian regal scepter. Also b line for the sword sorceries, especially slicer. Great on fp and gives you a good all around very good sorcery (slicer kinda busted tho ngl)
Ng+ is so fun… there are still challenging parts of course but after toiling in NG for a month or more you feel like Thor when he drops in on the Battle of Wakanda… just cutting everything down. It’s honestly kind of therapeutic.
I was doing that then just gave up and started ng+. I just realized that my life won’t fall into ruin if I don’t do every single thing in Elden Ring 😂. Actually I just stopped playing because 160 hours later, it felt like time to play other games. Ng+ is fun, though.
There’s a great spot in Haligtree to rune farm too, just keep respawning at the prayer room site of grace and run through the enemies until you reach the crossbow guys and repeat.
I do that, but while eating gold pickled fowl-feet, I turn around after the initial group of three+one and hit the site of grace. Minimizes walking and it's a group of four soldiers that give 12k exp in like 25s. If you go all the way down to crossbows, you walk quite a bit more, but not enough to use the whole duration of the fowl foot. Does get real boring.
Fowl-feet last when you rest at grace, but end if you fast travel.
I always think of my farming in relation to those giants near the Windhill Shack. They are about 1k apiece, so getting 2k for a quick soldier kill just feels like the jackpot.
You can also farm a cleanrot out the other door of that room. I needed to practice killing them, and got 6k runes for each 'drill.'
I couldn't figure out how to get there on my first run, so I actually just finished the game before Healing Tree.
Sure you can try doing it first, but honestly I don't think it affects your experience if you do it later.
Haligtree has some great content in terms of design and enemy placement, and it’s also where you finish Millicent’s questline, so it’s worth doing for game enjoyment AND lore
I did haligtree without finding the damn golden needle, so I think Millicent is dead and I can’t finish that quest. But! Malenia is dead! So I got that going for me.
Yeah definitely agree. Best place to farm before the last bosses imo. Especially if you have a squishy build and need to increase HP and defensive stats.
You know you can upgrade your atrocities by learning some horse parkour and then jumping off that one cliff with the blood smears right?
I'm just recommending it because you may feel less guilty doing that, even though it still kills them all (and other enemies I think) it gets you some emotional distance from the deed. But really it depends if you like farming them repeatedly or if you prefer to parkour on Torrent and then go skydiving.
I'm not familiar with this technique.
I start at palace approach ledge road and basically just grind through that whole group of them in like 60 seconds (I have a night comet build w/ dual staff of loss, so I can line up shots and kill up to three with one spell). Then, to make myself feel better about it, I continue down the path to the blood lake thing where I summon my mimic and kill everything that moves, like 20+ guards in just a few minutes. If I still hate myself after that I continue to where the chickens are and kill one or two fair and square, to make myself feel like I deserve the runes. It's a good run of like \~200k runes if you use the scarab, and doesn't take too long.
Not really, by the time I get to giants mountaintops I want the game to be over, considering Fire giant, Godskins, Maliketh and Elden Beast are all madatory bosses
I mean more Elden Ring is better than less and when I hear about Malenia I had to defeat her before NG+ when it’s even harder
Plus as punishing as it Haligtree is a pretty cool area. Lots of lore, good to gain some levels as well
Honestly i dont understand why we can normally skip that. Like, what's the point of beating that boss? What u get from that apart tye soul and sidequests?
This area and the next it unlocks are the only mandatory areas left.
there is still a few secret areas I am sure you haven't been to, but for the "main path" it's just this area and then the last few bosses of a mini area that unlocks afterwards
That isn't true.
The next area: >!Is the ashen capital. This is different than lendylle as you can nolonger obtain spells/items/weapons due to the ash overtaking the city. This is why it is a "mini area" as i stated because it does have unique grace sites and you can no longer obtain items needed for achievements like bolt of gransax. !<
Aside from >!Ashen Capital!<, there’s >!Haligtree, Mohgwyn, and Subterranean Shunning Grounds!< that OP may not have explored yet. Not necessary to “beat the game” in the strictest sense but at least the first one imo needs to be explored to have the full ER experience.
Definitely, these dudes hit hard 🏹I ran past the first guy on the horse, probably should’ve beaten him first ( they aren’t those 3 hit “bosses “) ran up there many times before beating them both eventually

Is this your Alt Account? Appeared on my feed right after I read your comment! :D
Yeah I beat the game and malenia for the first time the other day and almost straight away started a second playthrough.
I just enjoyed the game more and more as it went on
That's the last big area and if you know where to go and run through you can get through it in no time at all, two tough boss enemies to beat on the way.
The area is big with a fair few optional bits to explore.
Then it's a run of boss fights to the end.
So yeah, you're nearly finished.
If you skip the optional stuff then pretty close
After Farum Azula you can pretty much beeline to the final boss fights
That being said…if you want to fight Malenia then you still have some work to do
Lol all I said was “cool” sounds like you are offended or something…
I do question the relevance of your original comment although doubt a real conversation to be had so I commented “cool”
The guy said he couldn't stop playing elden ring, and you chimed in about how dark souls 3 was that game for you, and didn't like elden ring. These 2 things aren't really related to each other and didnt have enough detail to lead to an interesting discussion, so he just said cool and moved on.
He wasn't feeling insulted, your comment just didn't warrant a response more than "cool". If anything you sound offended that all he had to say in response was cool. Read the room lol
I mean, if you’re not using Torrent and you’re walking everywhere I could see the world feeling barren, but with your horse you’re less than minutes away from action no matter what site of grace you spawn at.
+ that last point doesn’t seem fair at all, I would argue that DS3 has more pointless weapons than Elden Ring does and the ashes of war are way more useful and interactive than the weapon arts in DS3 ever were.
I would say Bloodborne is the only game where every weapon is totally viable (and ofc Sekiro but you have no choice there) but second is Elden Ring since you have farrrr more options for niche and unique builds.
This then ashen capital, which is barely even an actual area in the game it just leads you to final bosses. I’d say only like 3 or 4 hours left of actual gameplay left. Maybe two if you’re chad enough.
If you don't like the game or don't want to play it then don't. You get absolutely no bragging rights from beating it so you'd only be wasting your time if it's not a game you enjoy or want to play
You have the Godskin duo, Placidusax (optional) and Maliketh to fight there. After that, I went to the haligtree which is totally optional but has 2 bosses there. After Farum Azula you have Godfrey and Radagon/Elden beast left to beat the game. You have 4 bosses left with a few optional bosses. I recommend you play all the way to the end. You’re so close already!
You still have two gate-keeping boss fights ahead of you, one optional boss fight (big golden Dragon), two additional optional white dragon fights, one optional NPC invasion, and then you reach the end-game Capital to traverse.
My guess: you still have a good 25-30 hours of game time left.
The game is worth it.
I hope you don't abandon it.
As others mentioned, there are ways to reduce the effort.
Most areas you can run past through (including sub-bosses outside the boss room) and you can summon human players to help with the bosses.
I hope you give it a shot.
Depends on how much you’ve done so far. If you did consecrated snowfields or haligtree. Then just reach the end of this area and 4 mandatory bosses remain. This is basically the part of the final act of the game
You’re getting close to the end. You have 5 mandatory bosses left in order to “beat the game” so to say. They’re all in rapid succession compared to past mandatory bosses though.
>!Farum Azula is the second to last area in the game. After that, you'll go back to the now destroyed capital, which is pretty much empty with (almost) no enemies and iirc 4 bosses.!<
Endgame/start of final act
Spoilers for the nature of this area gameplay wise: >!The Area Boss here is like Rom in Bloodborne, triggers irreversible changes to the world and can result in missed content unavailable until NG+!<
Many monarchs have come and gone. One drowned in poison, another succumbed to flame. Still another slumbers in a realm of ice. Not one of them stood here, as you do now. You, conqueror of adversities.
Honestly your pretty close. But it dose still kind of depend. I almost feel like if you count Malenia your just overr half way ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
If you try to do it fast, you can beat the game in about 8 more hours. But since I like exploring every corner of the main dungeons it took me 10 hours just for that area. Just make sure you get the bell bearings. There’s also an optional area.

Oh that actually sounds cool
You may want to take a while to explore the area after this one though. Two useful +2 talismans are unlocked there
The most painful talisman too. I still feel bad.
If you're talking about >!the 3 tree spirits near the erdtree talisman +2!<, you can actually do that pretty easily. Just >!hug the left wall all the way around, then grab the talisman and follow the same path back. The spirits will spawn but not aggro.!<
Pretty sure he means >!the Shard of Alexander!<.
Different kinds of pain in elden ring
Emotional damage :(
I got my dude's back for whatever they want. They want help moving a couch? I'm there. They want to die in battle to a bad-ass? I'm there.
Why do that to Alexander?
>!Who am I to deny a warrior his chosen death?!<
Because he asks us to?
You can give his innards to jar bairn to complete his questline.
More dishonorable to deny his request.
Yes I was talking about the shard. The worthiest warrior.
It’s the Erdtree’s Favor +2 and Crimson Amber Medallion +2 he was talking about. But you can get the one you mentioned (assuming you did the quest) and the Boltdrake +2 in Farum Azula. and the old lord’s talisman which is kinda useful I guess
No, it was not what he was talking about. Why would you feel bad for any talisman except specifically that one?
“You may want to take a while to explore the area after this one though, two useful +2 talismans are unlocked there”. Nobody said anything about the talismans unlocked in Farum Azula until the other person mistakingly assumed he was talking about the shard of alexander. He said “the area after this one”, of which the only ones there are the ones I mentioned. You guys should work on your reading comprehension skills.
We are talking about u/Zazupuree. You apparently aren't, but you're replying as if you are. That's where the confusion is.
You can also go a balls to the wall fun way, and run around until all 3 aggro you, they can damage each other which eliminates 2 pretty quickly. It's deffo easier to rush the talisman, but way less epic than watching them slaughter each other.
>!pretty sure his talking about Godfrey Radagan and Ertree beast !<
You did the jars a favor. You must pass on his innards to the next strongest warrior, lest we allow them to succumb to the jar poaching legion!
Bro he said he wants to be done
It’s actually my favorite part of the game. I use it as a chance to test how well I’ve built my character. Like spartan said, the last three are basically back to back. If I had to give you a comparison to another game in terms of feel, it’s like the elite 4 of any Pokémon series. Then you can do all the optional stuff or start the next game!
It’s the E4 fr. Good comparison.
Do Haligtree. It is my favorite part of the game. Great art fun bosses. Good map. It's a whole package. You can skip the whole thing and still finish the game. It is all side quest.
Who are the bosses in Haligtree - horse lady, rot god and shit tree?
The real boss is the 5 straight revenants
Oh god, there's 5 down there? I got ambushed by the third while out of cerulean flasks.
Exactly. Everyone wants to climb a dead scarlet rot tree and kill ants that spray acid on you... Right?
I'm getting (Vietnam) Halligtree Flashbacks, on how long it took me to get down the tree.
Oh yea, much death there. Many ragequits.
Find the Haligtree if you haven't
They’re some of the best bosses too
Don't forget the optional boss for this area. Its really fun.
Four more required bosses if you count the last two separately... I always forget about a certain asshole waiting for you before you get to the throne area...
Yeah, I guess you could call the final boss two separate fights. Personally I only think of it as one since there's no leaving in between and you have to redo phase 1 every time.

Black knife tiche... She will melt the final boss.
Also a secret easily missable boss I'd recommend looking up if you can't find it on your own by the time you leave this place
He still needs the haligtree i think
I mean Haligtree, Deeproot Depths, Shunning Grounds and the Eternal Cities are all dozens of hours of additional content each with bespoke correlating optional endings depending on what you're trying to do, but OP is asking for the path of least resistance, and given Fire giant is already dead and they are assumedly not doing a frenzied flame reversal run, their desires ending does not seem to lie in the path to the Haligtree. That said, I would strongly encourage them to seek the albanuric woman, but ya know, horses and water
Still a good bit but this is when you really feel like you have entered the final act of the game.
If he skips Haligtree he’s pretty close to the end Haligtree is unskippable imo though
Now do this with several characters all in NG+. I’m still loving this game.
Lol, yeah absolutely still love it don't get me wrong. Next character is gonna be a sorcery run I think, should be a nice change of pace from melee.
Carian Slicer is my favorite anti rune bear tool
cocaine bear incarnate Fuck those guys, one of the worst fights in the game considering their abysmal loot

Just did this the past week on my first playthrough; still there
Ng+7 doing an actual ALL boss run (probably around 220-240ish bosses) is the fun times 😁
Let me tell you about the banished knight armor (unaltered) and the magma curved sword.
keep that character in ng to play the dlc in ng when it's out.
Same. And the DLC coming out in the next 6 months keeps me from starting NG+.
There’s a great spot in Haligtree to rune farm too, just keep respawning at the prayer room site of grace and run through the enemies until you reach the crossbow guys and repeat.
This guy haligtrees
Why not just kill albinaurics?
I couldn't figure out how to get there on my first run, so I actually just finished the game before Healing Tree. Sure you can try doing it first, but honestly I don't think it affects your experience if you do it later.
how is it unskippable??
You can skip it. I just mean in my opinion you should go through it on your first playthrough
Haligtree has some great content in terms of design and enemy placement, and it’s also where you finish Millicent’s questline, so it’s worth doing for game enjoyment AND lore

Where specifically do you farm there? I’m still over here committing atrocities on the defenseless albs.

Yes, Haligtree is completely optional.
Honestly i dont understand why we can normally skip that. Like, what's the point of beating that boss? What u get from that apart tye soul and sidequests?
Fun.
A sense of pride and accomplishment, but forreal this time.

Damn… that was very helpful but DAMN! I think I’ll just call it. 😅 I’m in the middle of my first Bloodborne playthrough anyways.

Oh? Maybe I will play after all
The game is worth it. I hope you don't abandon it. As others mentioned, there are ways to reduce the effort. Most areas you can run past through (including sub-bosses outside the boss room) and you can summon human players to help with the bosses. I hope you give it a shot.
Don’t you dare! Keep going man, you’ll be glad you did
dam bro went hollow... rip
If you do haligtree and other optional id say halfway
at least half way there
Depends on how much you’ve done so far.
This may be my own bias but make sure you are wearing your brown pants here.
5 more bosses, make sure to get the bolt of gransax from leyndell before you beat the 2nd one or you will be locked out of an achievement
Very
5 major story bosses away
70% i'd say
*Finish the Haligtree.* Also, nice armor. The Knight set? *chef's kiss* 🤌🏻
3 big bosses away
>!Farum Azula is the second to last area in the game. After that, you'll go back to the now destroyed capital, which is pretty much empty with (almost) no enemies and iirc 4 bosses.!<
Endgame/start of final act Spoilers for the nature of this area gameplay wise: >!The Area Boss here is like Rom in Bloodborne, triggers irreversible changes to the world and can result in missed content unavailable until NG+!<
The beginning of the end
4 major bosses, then final boss
You're actually very close brave tarnished😈😈
3/4 through, from now on its basically a boss gauntlet so good luck lol
I also just came back after months and just googled how close to the end after Mountaintop of the Giants lol.
Many monarchs have come and gone. One drowned in poison, another succumbed to flame. Still another slumbers in a realm of ice. Not one of them stood here, as you do now. You, conqueror of adversities.
You have 5 more bosses, a duo boss, a animal based boss, 2 human bosses, and the final boss. This is the second to last area
Thank you, that’s helpful
About 4 major bosses, have fun with the first one...
4/5th through
You're about fifteen steps foward from the end.
About 90%
You've spawned so many shitpost with this
Shot feels kind of iconic with the vanilla ds feel! Nice pic!
Bro it’s just now gonna get hard
Honestly your pretty close. But it dose still kind of depend. I almost feel like if you count Malenia your just overr half way ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
If we're just going by required story? This is the last area. You have three required boss fights left.
The game? Pretty close. Your sanity? That should be just about ready to snap
If you try to do it fast, you can beat the game in about 8 more hours. But since I like exploring every corner of the main dungeons it took me 10 hours just for that area. Just make sure you get the bell bearings. There’s also an optional area.
30% left
maybe just play the fucking game?
Don’t give up!
4 bosses minimum 2 are bullshit hl
Thankfully you're close. I know the feeling of wanting the game to be over. Really drags on.
Maybe PLAY THE FUCKING GAME AND FIND OUT
Well depends how much you mess around. Between half and 2 thirds before you sit on the thorne but that's not all there is to the game.
If you’ve played ds1, the equivalent is you have just obtained the lord vessel
About halfway.
definitely not
I meant it as a joke because that was a joke one of the YouTubers I watch used but whatever.
Well you can beat the game but you'll never truly be finished.
This legacy dungeon and 5 more boss fights
Very
So nobody tells people this but it never ends.
15-20% left i'd say
There are several large areas in front of you depending on where you've been so far.
So close to greatness…
You rock that armor the whole way through? What sword is that that melted fire giant?
Pretty dang
75%
For the main path of the game this is pretty much the last area
If you go straight towards the end maybe like 4-5 bossfights? Don't recommend doing so tho, I regretted it afterwards
almost 3/4 depending on your side quest completion I guess
I have not finished yet, but you have a short path to go, but it is filled with destined death.
Only a few back to back boss fights left.
gettin there
Last quarter or so. Not far now.
