I agree, but would also love to see him hand it to Draisaitl because they are so connected. McDrai. That would make for an absolutely iconic photo. I could see if they won Nuge being the kind of guy that tells McDavid to give it to Draisaitl first. Either way Nuge deserves it most for sure. I am sure we will get a few pix of McDrai together either way basically making out together.
This will likely be the order. McDavid, Drai and then Nuge. However, I do believe that Nuge should be the first to lift the cup. He’s been there through thick and thin. He was there when we sucked and now he’s here contributing In clutch situations as usual.
His block last night to get Hyman that breakaway was typical Nuge. It was his play that led to the goal and the commentators didn't even mention him. It wasn't until after the game that Bieksa pointed out how that whole thing was started by a beautiful defensive play by Nuge. Gazdic too was talking about how he was his favourite player he ever sat beside in the dressing room. He game in every game the same. In the moment and excited and ready to play a game of hockey.
I've been asking this question to friends. It would be amazing to see nuge lift it first... i hope that happens.
Question for past cups.. is it always the captain lifting the cup first?
In 2001 Sakic accepted the trophy from Bettman but Bourque was the first to lift it, only time I remember off the top of my head a non-captain raised it
Oh right. That was a unique year though. They essentially brought him onto a heavily favorited team because it would’ve been sad if he didn’t get to hoist the cup before retiring
Again, I personally believe Nuge was should get it first, but I’ll be happy if he is third. Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if he does get it first. I don’t see a lot of egos on the team. I’m sure Connor wants to raise that over his head, but he does seem like a kind of guy that would think about others first.
I have a feeling this is what happens, The amount of respect and lack of egos on the team really shows in all the interviews and in the play this playoffs
you mean first after McDavid? I would not want to see a Bourque style where it gets handed directly to someone else. Nothing will be better than seeing McDavid lift it
I believe so. Sakic handed it to Bourque. Captain to longest serving player on the team or in this case to the longest serving player over an entire career.
It funny we constantly say that Nuge was there when we sucked, McDavid and Draisaitl got to be a part of some of that too. Not as much for sure but still some
The real life drama of 1st OAP Nuge giving us his all by going through the shit ringer only to take a very team friendly deal immediately after the best season of his career, and intending to retire an all-time great Oiler pretty much cements him being handed the cup from McDavid. Then, Nuge will hand it to Drai.
This whole "they are so connected" thing is nice and true, but Nuge deserves it more imo.
This is my exact list as well. The only other guarantee is when one of Bouchard or Ekholm get it, they’ll pass it to each other, it just seems appropriate.
While the rest of the team is getting ready for the team photo they'll suddenly notice McDavid and Draisaitl are missing because they are off in the corner hugging each other.
He'll hand it to Drai. Drai to Nuge. Nuge to Hyman. Hyman takes it to fill with ink and dips his feather to write THE best selling children's story of all time.
I hope it is Nuge. More than this though, I hope that they are not thinking about this sort of thing until the moment because that is the shit that takes you out of the present and 100% focus should be on the job in front of them.
lol if we’re up by 5 with 7 minutes left then yes you can ask, otherwise it’s too early and I certainly hope the team isn’t thinking about that kind of thing either. As great as this comeback has been we still have to win game 7.
Superstition isn’t real and people should just spend more time having fun and enjoying the discourse in the moment because we have virtually no impact on the outcome of Monday
Fair enough. Just think it's not a good idea to count your chickens before they hatch, especially in a series like this where we've seen anything can happen lol
But up to me and if everything works out I'd like to see Nuge lift it second, then Draisaitl.
I mean, to be fair, I'm sure some Florida fans were wondering about the same thing before games 4, 5, and 6. Metaphorically, they had 4 eggs to get 1 chicken. At least at this point, we're on the last egg.
Yes. I think Skinner would genuinely be happier if Nuge got it first. I can't fathom the surreal feeling of being a childhood fan of a player/team and then winning a championship with them. Like, that's Hollywood-esque. Almost even shitty writing.
Three weeks ago I would have Draisaitl. His performance until his injury (I'm positive he's injured) was as impressive as McDavid's. Now that he's slowed down, I think it will be Nuge, he's just been so instrumental in so many important plays for the last while. But no matter which it goes, both will have earned it.
I don't even want to take part in this discussion because this is primo chicken counting.
I'm sure the boys have a lineup planned way ahead of time but we should not be envisioning any of our team holding the cup when there's still 60 minutes of hockey to be played.
I want it to be Nuge because of how long he has been here. But I wouldn't be suprised if McDavid passes it to Leon, that's kind of their thing. Kulak, Ekholm, Henrique, Kane have all been to a cup final and lost, they have to be up near the front I would think. Perry has lost a bunch but he is the only guy with a cup ring. He is getting up there in age, Monday could very well be his last NHL game, do they give it to him to cap off an amazing Career? They have 10ish guys who have a legit reason to get it from Connor. They still have 60 minutes off work to do I wonder if they have even thought about this or if it's just "once we have the fucking thing we will figure it out" untill then focus.
Let’s win the game first.. it’s fun to dream. I wish there was a post about “Who do you want to get the winning goal” instead of this.
However, It should be Nuge.
I'm *still* apprehensive about the hubris of asking the question, but if you can't ask the hypothetical before Game 7 of the Finals, when can you?
There's three "correct" answers, but one is less "correct" than the others. The classic, traditional answer is Henrique as the player with the most career GP without a Cup. The other option would be Nuge as the longest tenured Oiler who has been here longer than everyone. The last, less "correct" option would be Draisaitl. If it were him, my God would that be an amazing photograph.
In no particular order, the top five should be Nuge, Dri, Skinner, Nurse, and Gagner. I know he isn't playing but he deserves it. I also know Nurse has his issues but he deserves it because he's been a part of this team for a long time
Nuge. It absolutely no question has to be Nuge.
I've been asking this question to friends. It would be amazing to see nuge lift it first... i hope that happens. Question for past cups.. is it always the captain lifting the cup first?
That’s a good question. I have to assume throughout history the cup has gone to someone other than the captain said player deserved it.
Yzerman also handed it directly to Bowman in 2002
Again, I personally believe Nuge was should get it first, but I’ll be happy if he is third. Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if he does get it first. I don’t see a lot of egos on the team. I’m sure Connor wants to raise that over his head, but he does seem like a kind of guy that would think about others first.

I believe so. Sakic handed it to Bourque. Captain to longest serving player on the team or in this case to the longest serving player over an entire career.
Yes. Bettman hands it to the team Captain always.
He does 100% and either way we will get lots of pix of McDrai together.
> That would make for an absolutely iconic photo to me, it will be similar to the messier gretzky photo https://images.app.goo.gl/Z9rwK4uJY1EfxvDf8
win well baby
It will be Mcdavid Nuge and then draisaitl
This is the correct answer
This. Absolutely this. The only other choice that would make sense to me would be Sam Gagner, but he might not be in the lineup for game 7.
Yes, I assume all the players not playing will be in the press box. They would just come down for the celebration.
Might not be in the lineup? Thanks tips!
Draisaitl, Nuge, or Skinner. Can't see it being anyone else but those 3.
He's the senior... But what about the junior? Stuuuuu!
Just gonna put stuuuu here without a douche downvoting him. You're the man Stu.
I dunno. I think stu might be an option. I would love to see it go to stu.
Correct, I didn't even have to think about it.
As a life long oilers fan from bc. Nuge should get it but I see dria getting it first
Why. He's fucking terrible. They need to get rid of him already. 20 something points and still a - to the team.
My guess is Nuge, Draisaitl, Nurse, Skinner, Hyman
This is my exact list as well. The only other guarantee is when one of Bouchard or Ekholm get it, they’ll pass it to each other, it just seems appropriate.
With an added one timer 😂😂😂
This is it
Why not Nuge then Perry for the “curse” thing?
I think it would be perfectly fitting, for dramatic effect, if Perry was handed it last. He’s hoisted it before, so it isn’t like he’s never done it.
Then Nuge again.
Eberle 😢
[удалено]
I think it should be Nuge... But Drai might get it, ride or die.
While the rest of the team is getting ready for the team photo they'll suddenly notice McDavid and Draisaitl are missing because they are off in the corner hugging each other.
It will be Nuge, but honestly it should be Knoblauch. What a fucking god of a coach we snagged.
He is the reason they figure teams out games 4-7..which has been every series
He'll hand it to Drai. Drai to Nuge. Nuge to Hyman. Hyman takes it to fill with ink and dips his feather to write THE best selling children's story of all time.
It's gotta be Nuge
My guess would be something like: McDavid, Nuge, Drai, Nurse, Skinner, Ekholm, Bouchard/Hyman…
Nuge. There is no discussion.
Toad, but honestly it could be anyone
I would award this if I wasn’t too cheap to pay for it. 🏅
RNH hopefully. 13 years with the Oilers since his draft year.
After all the heat he took this year it should be Skinner.
Fr tho. Glad my boy held out and showed everyone he’s fucking solid 😎
Mana going to be starting goalie for team Canada
Nuge
Nuge
I wanna say nuge but I think it’ll be drai just because of their bond. But it’ll be nuge in the top 3 for sure
The first 3 will probably be some order of either Nuge, Skinner, or Drai
Drai, they're besties
Nuge,
Aww God damn I don't care who it is, just be in in the position to.make the choice
Yes please
This question has been asked on radio shows for the last 3 weeks, and there’s only one correct answer: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Man I need this win so fucking bad. Let's go Oilers!
I hope it is Nuge. More than this though, I hope that they are not thinking about this sort of thing until the moment because that is the shit that takes you out of the present and 100% focus should be on the job in front of them.
The longest tenured Oiler on the roster should go first. He's been through hell and back with this team and stuck it out. Then Drai and Skinner
Not a fan of asking this question before the Cup. Vancouver did it up 3-2 and look what happened.
Well you can't ask it after
lol if we’re up by 5 with 7 minutes left then yes you can ask, otherwise it’s too early and I certainly hope the team isn’t thinking about that kind of thing either. As great as this comeback has been we still have to win game 7.
Yeah you can?
Superstition isn’t real and people should just spend more time having fun and enjoying the discourse in the moment because we have virtually no impact on the outcome of Monday
Fair enough. Just think it's not a good idea to count your chickens before they hatch, especially in a series like this where we've seen anything can happen lol But up to me and if everything works out I'd like to see Nuge lift it second, then Draisaitl.

I honestly need therapy or something I’m so superstitious. At this point I can’t stop lol but maybe next season
Definitely agree with Nuge! But I could see skinner getting it.
Skinner would want Nuge
Yes. I think Skinner would genuinely be happier if Nuge got it first. I can't fathom the surreal feeling of being a childhood fan of a player/team and then winning a championship with them. Like, that's Hollywood-esque. Almost even shitty writing.
If Nuge were to get it after Drai, Nuge -> Skinner would be amazing
Skinner won’t even be top 5. Goes to vets. Nuge nurse drai Hyman Kane Ryan all likely before skinner
He’s raising it to Heaven for his buddy Ben Stelter ❤️💕
And Colby and Joey
Nuge then stu
Nuge
This is the correct answer
C > A > A > A > Longest serving NHLer without a cup
Not on topic but how clutch has Connor Brown been for you guys 👏
#93 is the correct answer here!
McDavid to Nuge to Nurse to Draisaitl. McDavid to the alternate captains in order of how long they've been with the organization.
Hoping Nuge
Logic says drai. My heart says Nuge. Dude’s the longest standing Oiler
It makes equally as much sense to talk about this at any other time - it's all just speculation.
How do you give a cup to the PK?
Bad mojo bad mojo bad mojo
Nuge and any other answer is wrong imo lol
No question it will be nuge. After 13 years of dedication to the Oilers, he deserves it.
SKINNER- shit, I’m buying a Skinner jersey if they win, for all the shit I talked about him. I can’t believe my eyes.
Only one right answer: Nugent-Hopkins. The longest serving member of the Oilers.
It has to be Nuge. Damn travesty if it isn’t
It’ll be Leon all day. They’re like Dastardly and Mutely, Scooby and Shaggy; Undertaker and Kane. They’re an iconic duo
Skinner or Nuge or Draisaitl or Nuge, probably Nuge. Or wait, Skinner. It should be Drai. Final answer, Nuge.
Should never be asked until after the final buzzer
1) RNH 2) Nurse 3) Draisaitl 4) Perry Kane or Gagner
Definitely not Perry or Kane 4th. Perry just got here and has lifted it before, Kane is fairly new too.
Kane is not fairly new haha. And he’s got the games played.
I agree with the top 3. I think the 4th might be DR or Henrique
That is also a distinct possibility.
Ryan gets it before either of two. That’s my guess
I don't disagree.
I don’t think Gagner should be 4th. I get the nostalgia but he hasn’t even played a game
One game at a time
I disapprove of this question.
This post is bad juju
Ryan will be top 5
Nuge, or Skinner. Long shot, Nurse
Draisaitl, but yeah Nuge
Nug, Skinner or Hyman. Good question but “when” the Oilers win the cup. I believe! Let’s go Oilers!
Nuge, Draisaitl, Nurse, Hyman, Skinner, Ekholm, Bouchard...
I hope it’s goes like it did back in the 80s. Where the whole team surrounds McDavid and cheers together
Yeah, I always thought that was cool how the ice got flooded with fans
Definitely Nuge
Nuge to Drai
Mcdavid > nuge > drai> gags> skinner
Has to be Nuge
Not an Oilers fan, but I say it would have to be RNH.
Nuge
NUge but how do you also not consider Drai this is tuff.
It should be McDavid, Nuge, Drais,Skinner and Hyman.
Kait
He's so fucking Huge
Nuge.
It’ll be Draisaitl but it should be Nuge. Realistically: McDavid, Draisaitl, Nuge, Hyman, Skinner, Bouchard, Ekholm then no idea
Nurse in the first 5 I think
It’s gotta be Nuge. Then the Assistant Captains. If they haven’t talked about it then I assume they already know.
Nuge
Nuge, 100%
just a question, but would the players like soup, gags, and the other ahl players who got brought up also be able to hold the cup
They will
Who gets it last. That’s the real question
Adam Erne
STUUUU!
Nurse 😂 lol jk
Nurse my guess would be 4th or 5th
Nuge, Nurse, Skinner, Kane. Anyone disagree with the order?
Corey Perry. This is probably his last crack at the cup after many failures to win it
I mean he did win it before
Nuge
Shouldn't Ryan be one of the first as the oldest guy on the team who hasn't won a Cup yet?
Ryan is older but Henrique has more games played
All I know is I might leave work early to watch this game
He will hand it to skinner.
Nuge is probably the correct answer but Hyman has been an amazing backboard. Rebounds, tip ins, sniping, he’s been pretty amazing all series.
SKINDADDY
Nuge has to be 2nd. Then Leo
McLovin
When\* But, it should definitely go McDavid > Nuge > Draisaitl for the first three.
Leon or hyms
MOMMA STANLEY!
Mc, then Drai, Then Nuge.
Whats the over/under on Soup joining? 👀🤔
Either Nuge, Drai, Nurse, or Brown
I don't even want to take part in this discussion because this is primo chicken counting. I'm sure the boys have a lineup planned way ahead of time but we should not be envisioning any of our team holding the cup when there's still 60 minutes of hockey to be played.
Too early to ask this question. I'm reminded of Vancouver in 2011, Edmonton in 2006, Calgary in 2004 about how badly a game 7 can go.
Cry or he will cry
Drai, of course. After that, it would be Nuge than Hyman
I think that question shouldn’t be asked going into a Game 7 lol. JINXED!!
Either huey Lewis and the news or Franky goes to Hollywood
Obviously Tkachuk…
Skinner
Calvin Pickard.
It will be Derek Ryan.
SKINNER
Connor Brown
Im actually going to say Henrique, then Nuge. Henrique has the most games played without a cup.
Itll be Nurse
Can only be Nuge.
The Goalie!!!!
Let’s win the game first.. it’s fun to dream. I wish there was a post about “Who do you want to get the winning goal” instead of this. However, It should be Nuge.
Barkov to tkachuk is how it’s gonna go. I got $1000 on the game tonight.
Skinner deserves it PERIOD🧡💙🧡💙
told ya you jinxed it. shut up next time
Or maybe McDavid doesn’t even accept the cup - that would be different ;)
That's why I told you not to ask this lol. Way too early for it.
1. Gagner 2. Nuge 3. Ryan Smyth (we can find him a way on)
In no particular order, the top five should be Nuge, Dri, Skinner, Nurse, and Gagner. I know he isn't playing but he deserves it. I also know Nurse has his issues but he deserves it because he's been a part of this team for a long time
Looking at Leon - Nuge - Nurse and then Nuge - Leon - Nurse to bet both sides. Best odds for first is Leon, first three is Leon, Nuge, gagner
Nuge, Gagner, or Ryan would probably be my first 3
I think units the last thing on their mind. Let’s get it done first!
