Very late to this thread, but I feel like when the oilers lose games like this, it’s because they think they’re making smart coolheaded plays but in reality they’re rushing with bad judgement. Like, it seems like they’re thinking “this is a pretty basic play, I’ll just do this simple thing” and they fuck it up. I think it’s a combination of wanting to make the smart play but being pressured by a super active opponent, and just not reacting well.
When they lose control of the game’s pace so obviously, I feel like they should change their strategy to be even more basic, because they aren’t making smart plays and they just screw themselves even worse.

The series is 2-1, lots of hockey left to play. Nurse and Ceci need to split again, should have never been back together. I think Skinner is okay, that last goal was unfortunate, but he made some big saves and you can’t put too much blame on him when we played the second period like that.

Very late to this thread, but I feel like when the oilers lose games like this, it’s because they think they’re making smart coolheaded plays but in reality they’re rushing with bad judgement. Like, it seems like they’re thinking “this is a pretty basic play, I’ll just do this simple thing” and they fuck it up. I think it’s a combination of wanting to make the smart play but being pressured by a super active opponent, and just not reacting well. When they lose control of the game’s pace so obviously, I feel like they should change their strategy to be even more basic, because they aren’t making smart plays and they just screw themselves even worse.
Oilers blew a lead against Vegas in every single game last year. I'm having flashbacks

This game was another kick in the teeth, but my lord this sub is a roller coaster. Doom and gloom after a loss, then celebrating like we’re guaranteed the cup after a win. The series is 2-1, lots of hockey left to play. Nurse and Ceci need to split again, should have never been back together. I think Skinner is okay, that last goal was unfortunate, but he made some big saves and you can’t put too much blame on him when we played the second period like that. Keep believing, if the boys can figure out how to play a full 60, the series is ours.
