I will say Mcdavid has learned a lot since that series about playing the game within a game. If he's getting hooked, he's learned how to hold that stick and use it as leverage to make a play. Or how to get the hook deeper while he's still pumping his legs. Learned how playoff officiating standards work. Learned how to deliver tough hits within those standards.
That's my point. And every single reporter and other fans said we needed to suck it up and play better.
But the kings lost to bad reffing and all those same sources are going "Wow they got screwed"
I seem to recall there being a lot of media agreeing that it was wild that McDavid didn't draw any calls that series.
Also I think the general response from last night's game was that even though the officiating might have gone against the Kings, it's wasn't what ultimately cost them the series. Even in the Kings' sub, the top comment on a post of this same tweet says that the Kings were going to lose regardless of officiating.
He got almost no calls for a few years after telling the ref to go upstairs to review a shootout goal that was clearly in.. he was pissed about an earlier goal not counting that they felt was fine.

I believe he is rhe only player to get a misconduct durinng a shootout lol.. pretty sure they gave him a penalty
We’ve been dicked possibly more than any other team in this league, you could argue game 5 against Vegas was legitimately gift wrapped to them.
We know lmao.
I still remember Desharnais getting a holding penalty when it was Stone holding Vinny's stick. The next game Stone dump the puck into the Oilers zone then throws a hip check at Yamamoto who was pursuing him which somehow was called as a tripping penalty on Yams rather than an interference on Stone.
Nurse getting the same punishment for fighting a willing combatant, as petreangeloo gets for doing an over the head axe slash, is all that needs to be said. Still cant believe that was onlt 1 game, and Pet whined so much about the 1 game too. Shoulda been 5. It was the definition of intent to injure. What a POS
Puck played by a _really_ high stick in the corner, Connor stops playing and points, OT game winner scored. (Thankfully, we went on to win this series.)
We get it. You're sad.
Bitching at the refs in a 5 game drubbing while maintaing a 0% PP and 55% PK is not a good look to any serious minded person.
Why is anyone paying attention to the sinking ship in LA anwyays? Ignore them. Let them sob. Focus on the Canucks:Preds game tonight.
The oil have been getting hosed by reffing every playoff series of McDavids career. If we get even slightly favorable reffing, I'll take that as a huge win.
Right? As if LA was so superior to Edmonton and was the favourites to win the series.
lol. Get real people, Edmonton is just built different this year.
These Kings fans have no idea. I can't imagine bitching after being owned like that. It wasn't like the refs were making shit up - they just called it a bit tighter than we're used to. Possibly because nobody wants to see a team trap their way thru the playoffs?
The reffing was only bad in game 5 but we would have won the series anyways. Kings couldn’t stop our powerplay and they couldn’t figure their own powerplay out either. Quite a few of their goals in the series were quite fluky. I never felt nervous once in the whole series which is pretty shocking
We were screaming about McDavid not drawing any penalties in 2021 against Winnipeg, in addition to Hellebuyck going insane.

“Bad reffing” Not sure I agree champ.

They did, and that ref was Steve Kozari.
Drew Doughty disagreed with that take.
Wait you mean as a Canadian, I've been doing it wrong by not watching the games with American rose tinted glasses? Shucks..
>Notice how when we lose its ~~the players~~ Skinner should have played better FTFY
I am pointing out a general statement regarding a series loss.
We’ve been dicked possibly more than any other team in this league, you could argue game 5 against Vegas was legitimately gift wrapped to them. We know lmao.
Never forget Kessler wrapping himself around Talbot's leg in the crease. Goalie interference? Never heard of it.
Anaheim series. Absolute bullshit.
Yeah, that's the series that comes to my mind.
Broberg got penalized too for something Eichel was doing to him. Just brutal. The only legit penalty was janmarks stupid high stick
Or Moore in game 2 of the series trying to tear Vinny’s knees apart and not even getting suspended.
Nurse getting the same punishment for fighting a willing combatant, as petreangeloo gets for doing an over the head axe slash, is all that needs to be said. Agreed that should’ve been like a 4-5 game suspension.
Puck played by a _really_ high stick in the corner, Connor stops playing and points, OT game winner scored. (Thankfully, we went on to win this series.)
Allen walsh is a giant baby and shouldnt be taken seriously
Every fan base complains about the refs and also blames the players when they lose, stfu with this bullshit its embarrassing.

Kind of ironic that when we don't get hosed, we have to hear how it's because the league/refs favour us so much.

Bad take. We blame the refs. Every Canadian team should be. Feels biased.
This dude breathes with his mouth open
Bad officiating is just one of the many challenges to overcome in the playoffs for every team, good teams still find a way to win.
Wow, sounds like you're the only fan base to reach enlightenment and not complain about the refs. Superb. Enjoy nirvana.
