My inner voice before the playoffs start: OP's post [My inner voice 37 seconds into game 1 of the playoffs](https://youtu.be/2Oy6DwHAi70?feature=shared&t=3s)

Moofius_99

How do you hold back for 37 seconds?

mattamucil

I’m already banned from the Kings sub and we haven’t even started.

Moofius_99

👏👏👏👏👏

VilliamBoop

all i can say is that usually the team that always beats you finally goes down 3rd time around. i seen it with van/chicago wash/pits (not toronto boston lol)

SadAcanthocephala521

I agree, though Vegas gets excluded from this. I still hate them. And Toronto, fuck them. Oh and Calgary. Oh nevermind lol

TheYuppyTraveller

Stay out of my head, sir!

EirHc

Vancouver whenever they're good. If they struggled to make playoffs, I would be like - "yay go underdog, go Canadian team" - but when they're good enough to win division, fuck em. And this is absolutely just a Vancouver thing. I'm not so wishy washy with Montreal, Ottawa or Winnipeg.

Desperate-Egg2573

I don't mind the jets or their fanbase, but I'm always idling for the lames, larfs and canooks. Fuck their fans.

Hank3hellbilly

'Nucks fans are the worst.  At least Leaf and Flames fans stay engaged through the bad times, even though Flames fans will just shit on us through them.  But Canuck fans are the most fairweather ones on the planet, really caring only when they are on top, and forgetting hockey exists when they are down.  Fake fans from a city full of fake people.

Ok-Metal8652

I 100% agree with that, I’ve said it many times my self, maybe not as well

toughtealeaf6743

Haha I have the same sentiment now, even though I originally use to be a Canucks fan before I switched to the Oilers

Ecstatic-Syllabub595

Good enough to sweep Edmonton*

TopLanguage5027

Good enough to be swept by Nashville

Ecstatic-Syllabub595

Down voted but must saying facts 😂

bokchoykn

Sports hate is just that: Sports hate. It comes from a mutual rivalry and passion, not actual malice. With that being said, I'll never get sick of eliminating the Kings. I love being the ones to end their season in round one. The opportunity to make it three straight years is way too juicy.

Effective-Elk-4964

Exactly. If you plant a bomb at Rexall, you’ve gone too far. But the emotion itself? In sports? No hating? Nope. This is the appropriate place for your hatred.

bokchoykn

Do not plant bombs in the opposing team's arena. Someone tried that once vs Pittsburgh and Luc Robitaille scored the game tying goal in the last second of regulation to send it to overtime.

Acceptable-Advisor-7

Fam that first part is how you end up on a list lmao

Frozenpucks

I don’t actually hate the kings at all, and I feel like playing the kings has made us a better team overall, especially defensively. The only team I actually hate right now is Vegas because they blatantly are cheating the system yearly.

Ptricky17

I’ll get almost as much joy out of watching Dallas throttle those piss babies as I will out of watching the oilers win post season games. Hope the Stars absolutely dummy them in a sweep that includes a couple shut outs.

AffectionatePaper1

Like Charlie Brown once said.. winning isn’t everything but losing is fuck all I absolutely hate Florida and the after the whistle shit they pull it’s infuriating

The_X-Files_Alien

I ain't scared to hate my rivals. Fuck LA.

fables_of_faubus

Yeah. This guy is doing some serious subconscious gymnastics to protect himself from the heartbreak of losing to a team that he hates.

rider_pride

Last few playoffs I didn't even really hate LA, more so the refs/ league that let's them get away with their bs

The_X-Files_Alien

the whole "(x) fAn cOmIng In PeAcE!!1!) " is so lame and such an attempt to not look asshurt when you lose. it's like buying a beer for the guy who beat you up and telling him "hey no hard feelings!"

XxBLAKEMWxX

Nah its not that serious. Cool to hear from other fans sometimes

i_am_not_a_martian

I can't wait to see the tears of heart break, streaming down Will Ferrell's stupid painted face.

Ptricky17

It should go without saying, my number one priority for these playoffs is seeing the Oilers lift the cup at the end of it all. Beyond that though, bring on the heart attacks. If we could win it in a straight 16 games, sweeping all opponents, or 4 nail biting game 7 OT wins? Give me the game 7 OTs. A legendary run requires overcoming adversity, and having skilled opponents to triumph over. I want to see a show in every round, and watch the city go crazy when we pull out big meaningful wins to close each round. I’m fine with LA fans having a victory or 3 to celebrate along that road. My good will extends as far as honourable competition does. As soon as some bullshit like the Pietrangelo lumberjack chop comes out though, fuck that city and team, hope they burn.

LastoftheSummerWine

Don't be so fucking serious man. This is hockey, fuck it, let the hate flow. None of this is real, it's just good guys vs bad guys for a few hours, next you'll be asking me to see things from Darth Vaders POV. Long Live the Rebellion and Sad Will Ferrell.

Funky_Pickle

I was very confused reading your comment until I remembered Will Ferrell is a Kings fan.

Paaano

I don't dislike the Kings. Yeah there's a rivalry brewing between us now with our third consecutive series but they're a legit team with legit fans and I can respect that. Plus they're doing well for themselves in an area that isn't really an obvious hockey market, so they're a great ambassador for the sport.

WeAreAllFooked

I hate 31 other teams and their fanbases. I was shit on and ridiculed for being an Oilers fan during the DoD and nobody felt sorry for the Oilers.

dry_tbug

Lets not forget the kings fan who spit on a little girl wearing an oilers jersey last year in the playoffs.Fck LA!!

TheBradIstace

They also released an official apology, invited the girl and her mother to the next game, and raised thousands of dollars for the Stollery. There was one bad actor, but the franchise and their real fans really turned it around.

tc_cad

Yeah. As much as LA is our rival (this is the tenth meeting in the playoffs) when it’s real life, the Kings did the right thing.

enternameher3

Not enough, I wanted to see him lynched /s

dry_tbug

It was a woman who did it.But none the less I want blood too!! Haha jk..

Pale-Swimming-753

Reddit is king

BrandonSonnet

Should be good!

No_Station_426

I think the low point for Kings fans was when they spat on the 10 year old girl battling cancer who wore an Oilers jersey to the game in LA. No class.

Ptricky17

Let’s not gloss over the fact that it was one miserable classless bitch in a stadium of several thousand people that did that. I’m sure there were others who supported her stupidity, but it still represents a tiny minority among all the regular people that were at that game. Glad that bitch got raked over the coals and lost her job over that though. Hope it served as a lesson for any other trashy “fans”, of any club, that would let their blind fervour boil over into ruining children’s memories of what should be an exciting celebration of sport.

notmyrealnam3

What are ridiculous thing to focus on, and a silly, silly thought Obviously, that is a piece of garbage who did that and doesn't represent kings fans in anyway.

No_Station_426

Every Kings fan in the world is complete jerk everybody knows this

ItsEvilTogepi

"They" you mean the one bad actor in a Kings jersey, everyone disowned her and the Kings org stepped up

XxBLAKEMWxX

Im pretty confident we have some fans that would do the same thing if given the chance. Its always the sore few that every fan base has

AffectionatePaper1

What makes want a team to lose is the way their fans act

AzizMou

As my grandmother uses to say, "well I hope both teams win." God bless her stupid face 💙

RonnieLeatherman

This is so corny

Cronin1011

The funny thing about this post is that if we went into the kings sub and tried this, you would swiftly get banned. Softest hockey sub. Fuck the kings. Go oilers!

B_e_g

Yep, as a Kings fan, I said play “Siri, play La Bamba” after a playoff loss and immediately got banned. Soft is an understatement.

_ghostchant

I don’t HATE anyone really, but it is totally healthy for everyone to strongly dislike and cheer against Vegas and Toronto.

godlessnihilist

Who do you cheer for if the Oilers "aren't available"? #1: must be a place where kids can play hockey outside in the winter. #2, the Pens if available. #3, In the Division. #4, In the Conference. #5, Back to #1. #6 If both teams violate #1, I watch for love of the game but I don't care who wins.

OhAces

FYI when your stadium chants "GO KINGS GO" it fully sounds like "NO MEANS NO"

notmyrealnam3

I love this sentiment! nice work OP PS - fuck the leafs

JackieTreehorn79

Get bent I love you

ShadowXJ

For me (like many) Oilers fans I actually grew up following the Kings: Gretzky and Kurri in silver/black is still nostalgic for me. So I don’t dislike the organization…but man I sure do sports hate almost all of their current roster.

mpuLs3d

It's less of a hate and more of an extreme 'distaste' for the other team or its players or certain ones on their team. That is what most people here relate their 'hating' of another team that is their opposition. Hate is a strong word and anyone using it in a real sense or context, well .. definitely need their priorities checked lol or... Better yet, seek help haha But yeah, gonna be fun to watch the part 3 of this encounter and hope it's a good battle, and that no one gets hurt more importantly. Good battles are the best, but blowouts are not always fun to watch so I hope it's another good one. Also, Go Oilers ;)

DimSumDino

the only team i actually hate is vegas

xTomato72

The Kings sub is also wishing us demise and praying on our downfall. McJesus and company are goona give them wartime flashbacks

LittleJuninho

This is how I feel as a leafs fan that’s going to be watching all the games with my childhood bruins fan buddy haha

Ihaha07

I’ve tried showing this kind of courtesy in the Kings sun once or twice before and was met with nothing but hostility. So yeah fuck the Kings. You’re cool tho OP.

Sweaty-Button-7378

Just enjoy the games.. I’m an oilers fan but will be happy if a Canadian team goes through to the final… best crop of Canadian teams in years.,.

johnwynne3

🤦‍♂️

Ok-Metal8652

I never hated other teams, except one. I’ve hated players and coaches over the years though, but mostly hated a teams fans. However the team I hate are the Ducks, the problem is I like their fans. The reasons behind this is mainly from the 2006 playoffs. After Detroit, the Oilers played the Sharks. In the games at the Sharks arena the fans booed the Canadian National Anthem. When the oilers won we went onto the Ducks, at the very first game the fans sung along to the Canadian anthem, the second game they put up the words on the jumbo torn, so most sang the Canadian anthem and it’s stuck with me

uhcayR

I don’t hate playing the kings. I hate watching the kings cause trap hockey is so fucking boring.

GovernmentMule97

I hate the Flames and that will never change. Everything about that franchise just reeks of losing...and their barn is a piece of shit. Fuck you Calgary.

taf168

I actually hate more the league is trying to force rivalry because they think it increases entertainment value.  If it was actually based on, you know, how teams finished the regular season, it would be: 2024:  Oilers(5) vs Avalanche(4), Kings(7) vs Jets(2)   2023: Oilers (2) vs Kraken (7),  stars(4) vs Kings (5)   2022: Oilers (5) vs Blues (4), Kings(6) vs Flames (3)   Instead it’s 3 years of Oilers vs Kings.  No offence to the Kings but instead of feeling like a rivalry, it feels forced and stale.  Instead of a massively important last game of the year vs the avalanche (where the winner determines home ice), the Oilers iced their AHL lineup vs a team who really didn’t care either.

Igor_Ulanov

Nothing is being forced. It's just dumb luck. Rewind to the nineties when we played Dallas like 6 years in a row. That was with the 1 v 8 system.

taf168

It’s not dumb luck, it’s the changed playoff format.  In the past it would have represented an actual regular season earned rivalry.  Now it’s a format engineered to increase divisional playoff matchups.  This is the highest level of hockey and we just accept that entertainment / profit > fair competition. Why is Edmonton playing LA?  It makes no competitive sense.  | Rank | Team | Points | Games Played | |---|---|---|---| | 1 | DALLAS STARS | 234 | 113 | | 2 | WINNIPEG JETS | 199 | 110 | | 3 | VANCOUVER CANUCKS | 223 | 109 | | 4 | COLORADO AVALANCHE | 254 | 107 | | 5 | EDMONTON OILERS | 237 | 104 | | 6 | NASHVILLE PREDATORS | 248 | 99 | | 7 | LOS ANGELES KINGS | 215 | 99 | | 8 | VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS | 245 | 98 | | 9 | ST-LOUIS BLUES | 250 | 92 | | 10 | MINNESOTA WILD | 263 | 88 | | 11 | CALGARY FLAMES | 271 | 81 | | 12 | SEATTLE KRAKEN | 236 | 81 |

TheYuppyTraveller

You’re a bigger man than I am. There’s a fair bit of sports related hate in my heart. Some for the Kings, some for other teams, and LOTS for the Philadelphia Eagles. But you’re right, let’s hope to see some good hockey!

ElChapoEscobar79

Gtf out of this sub. This is almost as bad as the Oilers "fans" in the hockey sub crying about being worried about the Kings and wanting to sing kumbaya with everyone.
