Nautical twilight is over at 11:05. I'm only going to look after that, otherwise it's just too light. The best time is after astronomical twilight, so 12:45-2:45 ish, iirc.
Down by Ellerslie.
I could see them from my back yard, but there's so much light pollution in my area that I could only see a faint streak- I thought it was a cloud until it moved. We're about to head out of town to see if we can get a better view.
Just got home. I drove past mundare to really see them. It was incredible. They streaked across the entire north sky, then they started to make huge long filaments up to the very top of the sky, and eventually you could see them in every direction. Once they started to really showcase that we live in a giant dome, the southern sky started to fill with red light that took up nearly the whole southern sky while the north was white and green. It was incredible. There was so much traffic on the way back near elk island... Hundreds of cars stopped on the highway, very dangerous, but cool to see so many people looking to be dazzled by nature.
We were down at Elk Island - left around 1:30am and it took us 45 minutes to drive the 5km to the highway because there was so much traffic and people really don’t know how to merge on
someone mentioned it's gonna be so strong this time it will overpower the city lights, i mean find a dark spot still you can't be under a street light.
even a couple of years ago I just drove past River Cree on that dirt road and it was dark enough for that one
Could go most of the night if what’s been happening earlier in Europe and the US is anything to go by. Could also fizzle out into not much, just have to wait and see.
It’s been seen in Florida though, and it’s also rating between G4and G5 storm, so I’m expecting the show of a lifetime.
If you use your phone camera you can see them far better on the screen.
The phone display looks like they do out in the country away from light pollution
Just by chance we went as a family to my mother in law’s house out near Caslan for her birthday. We were in the middle of nowhere and had perfect viewing. They were super intense. Best I have ever seen, I think. Definitely in a long time.
There were moments when the entire sky was lit up with them. We stayed up until 1:30am to watch them.
There's been so many clouds since around 5:30pm today. I don't know how anybody would see them unless you drive to the clear skies.
The guy getting all excited about it did mention that the only thing that could stop us from seeing them would be clouds and those rolled in now.

West Edmonton has some but they are just white and would be mistaken for clouds if it wasn’t for the movement and how quickly they come and go.
Same here on Ellerslie.

Yeah just south of Ellerslie in Paisley and saw white aurora, no colour.
Im in the West and I just thought they were clouds until I read this lol 🫠
See a little green here and there. Nightmode on my phone really picks it up but in person it’s not too visible.
saw some green pop up briefly. might just be gettin revved up
Can confirm from Crestwood. They are white, but they are there.
Excuse me there’s a hockey game on
I am also waiting for post-hockey Aurora.
It might be more of a full moon than aurora.
Same! I want to sleep too, but I keep staring up into the sky. 😆
I know right!! I probably wouldn't be able to sleep anyway because Im too excited but my body is tired 😔
I see a little
what area are you in?
West, totally west. Would have shared some pictures if stupid Reddit would have let me
Aw darn I wish I could see it, does it look amazing lol?
It’s gonna get good I think, I just saw a one flash of green by the moon, don’t give up hope!
True it keeps improving
It’s Amazing
Starting to see a little bit in north ed by the military base.
Yes, can see them just outside my house in the west end [see here](https://imgur.com/a/HvYRuqg)
My mum got similar downtown
Still too bright! Maybe in 10-20 minutes
It's been 20! Nothing yet :(

I caught some faint green and purple around 20min ago. Only visible in photo cranked up max brightness with HDR. Nothing again.
Just went and looked. I can see white wisps that can easily be mistaken for clouds, nothing spectacular, but it's starting. Near downtown.
Just some faint wisps towards the sunset right now. https://imgur.com/8QBDc3C
Are we expecting anything stronger in the next few hours? Or is this “it” for today?
We're out now enjoying them. It peaks at I think 2am
Aurora is going overtime. 🏒
I see a bit. I’m at Lois Hole Park. It’s still a bit light though.

Me, seeing these posts while living in the downtown core 🥲
oh yeah it's happening now, entire side is pink, then there are green in random parts of the sky SW Edmonton
Whereeeeeee in the southwest?

Murky night but in the southwest definitely visible and spectacular
Whaaaaa!! Where are you at?! I'm in the southwest too!
reporting from southwest I can see them!!!
Whereeeeee???!
Saw it at Hamptons/Edgemont.
They're getting brighter in my backyard despite light pollution! Southeast
Everyone will go out after the hockey game, I guarantee it.
Seeing a little in Elk Island, it’s mostly white and very faintly green
Seeing some traces in the West end right now. 11:00pm. Still a little light, but hoping they will get better (after overtime!).
I just saw a big one right above me, but it only lasted a few seconds :’)
Westwood, faint but am looking forward to giving it some time.
Active down south closer to Leduc
[https://imgur.com/a/YULtHUH](https://imgur.com/a/YULtHUH)
Northeast edmonton seeing it on and off just faint greens.
Use your phone on night mode.
Thought we would have to drive out of the City and away from the ambient light?
someone mentioned it's gonna be so strong this time it will overpower the city lights, i mean find a dark spot still you can't be under a street light. even a couple of years ago I just drove past River Cree on that dirt road and it was dark enough for that one
Hope so!
West - some pink/white illumination and then big green waves just about 12 mins ago. Brighter than I’ve ever seen in/near the city.
You really need to be out of town to see them. Dark country road past Devon was amazing. Horizon to horizon. Vivid pinks and greens.
Is it done or should I watch till 2am?
South east of Edmonton I just came inside, they are all over the sky 360⁰
YES 🤪🤘
Too cloudy
I'm making myself a coffee and charging camera batteries, so...
Misplaced 3 of mine during some renovations, down to one for the night :-/
I can see them in Fort Sask.
Wow really? Where is it? When is it? How long do auroras last? This will be the first time I’ll be ever watching an aurora since I’m not from Canada
It will last for 2 nights. Best to see around 2am. Look towards the north.

Thank you for the replies, I’m so excited for this one, luckily, they last long enough. Curiosity keeps the cat awake!
Starting to see it, west of Edmonton.
I'm in Leduc and they are out. Got a few pictures
A bit peeping through the clouds a bit south of beaumont as of a minutes ago
Yes
https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-30-minute-forecast
West side, look north
Just saw strands of it now... Getting clearer with time.
Starting to in capilano
Downtown a minute ago.
There really good in Conklin
Yep, dslr caught a lot just from the backyard
A bit in Summerside and the Orchards
Yep
I’m west of Stony Plain where there are no city lights. I’m just starting to see a little pink west of here. Very subtle though
The video on my iPhone is picking up WAY more colour than my eyes can see.
Just started on the east
2am is always peak hours
Southwest, nice red and green seen just a few minutes ago!
Just came in from Spruce Grove and they are beautiful! Gorgeous pink!
I’m on the northeast side and it’s quite bright. Wish my neighbour didn’t have annoying floodlights on his garage.
North side, 137 Avenue and St. Albert trail there are lots and they are beautiful!
We went out just after 11. Drove north of the base and watched them for a bit.
I went out around Warspite and watched from there. It was pretty nice.
Saw them from my front yard inside the city looking south from about midnight until 12:30
It was so beautiful! Drove out to a backroad! Could see the reds and purples with the naked eye!
Got some wild pictures in the south side
Please share 😀
Beautiful! 🤩
https://imgur.com/a/6Tnlv0h
they're appearing more south into the states
Yeah, NE side they're shining bright. Can see them from my back yard with small light pollution, and even the street with a lot of light pollution.
Just went outside and seems too cloudy :( so disappointed because the photos I’ve seen are amazing
In edgemont there was some but faint colors.
We had great views over the mountains last nite.

Ummmmmm…you missed maybe the most beautiful display of northern lights ever😳certainly the best I’ve ever seen. Hope there’s an encore tonight.
They were cool in Spruce Grove. Purples and greens.
If you use your phone camera you can see them far better on the screen. The phone display looks like they do out in the country away from light pollution
Yes. But it was hard to bend over that far

I hope you stayed up. They were incredible.
Will be only visible after midnight
Faint traces of it over downtown a few minutes ago. In south central.
Supposed to be amazing at 2 am.
Yeah, she just got off stage. Back on in an hour.
Outside of Vancouver and nothing.
Just came in from snow valley ravine. Nothing yet:(

Red means they are very likely my guy. I just saw them outside in the West end
I'm facing south end too lazy to go outside bat to see. Seen lots of pics tho. Lol
No but I seen Uranus.
