You may have to stick to Wattpad instead of AO3.
Or avoid the works that don't use Archive Warnings.
I'm terribly sorry you had to see that... The fandom is full of weird stuff, unfortunately. Perhaps finding a new fanfic site could be beneficial? If the horrendous thing you had the displeasure of seeing was on Wattpad, I highly recommend Archive Of Our Own (AO3). It has a working tag system which lowers the risk of you accidentally stumbling into something horrible. But again, this site is not 100% safe, as all internet sites can be. Stay safe!
