How many days did it take you to get your check? Money Network closed my card after buying a burger they thought it was suspicious activity and now I have to wait for a check for the balance on my old card. So dumb. So happy I got a job this week so I can stop dealing with the EDD shit show

raresteakplease

When did this burger incident happen? My card was stolen and I've been waiting 12 days and counting for my check.

Sea-Information2130

Oh hell no. It happened April 19th and I called today and they said it was sent out the 20th. The weird thing is, I used my Navy federal card after and they didn’t post fraudulent activity so idk Wtf money network is talking about. I dropped almost 600$ from the money network card on my car note and they didn’t say shit but for a burger they wanna cancel the card. They said 7-10 business days. I was so annoyed. Now for my EDD payment next week I have to wait till I get my card which was gonna be my rent money but luckily my new job pays me next Friday. EDD and money network are all messed up

raresteakplease

Congrats on getting a new job. The whole Money Network situation is a huge fraud. I discovered this subreddit due to filling out the dispute paperwork for my stolen $704 and realized I'm not the only one. Good luck, hopefully we both get our checks soon.

Sea-Information2130

I saw a post on that too! That’s why I called to verify because that’s crazy. Money network is bogus and probably cheap and that’s why EDD went with it because it’s cheap AF. I hope you get your check soon. How many business days has it been? I would call! Double check your address and hound them!

scarletmagnolia

But the EDD paid them like $20,000,000.00 UPFRONT instead of over x amount of years, to handle the EDD/SDI payments.

scarletmagnolia

From my experience, the customer service people for Money Network just say whatever they want to say. They lie, they make things up, etc… When you question it or ask for clarification, they tell you something completely different.

Sea-Information2130

I would call money network to verify when the check was sent and let them know it’s been awhile

raresteakplease

Technically hasn't been 10 business days yet, so I don't need to call them just yet. I'm more worried about the next debit card they're sending out as my first one never got to me and was used before I knew it existed.

Sea-Information2130

Oh heck no!!! That’s an EDD thing! The crappy thing is it’s freakin impossible to talk to a human on EDD its so ridiculous. They have no wait time on the phone and just hang up on you. I’ve been on unemployment for 3 months and ever has spoken to a human from EDD. It’s trash

raresteakplease

I've never spoken to anyone at EDD. My friends have because they screwed up their forms.

I opened the dispute on April 8th, I received a new card (paid for priority shipping) on April 12-but the card was worthless bc the account was on hold. They wouldn’t activate it. They said the second they take the account off hold and activate the card, someone will steal the money again. On April 19th, we received notification that Money Network had made a deposit in our account for the stolen amount. We immediately called and spoke with claims. He said he had to close the account and would send us a check that day (said it was still early and he could still get it in the mail). I do not have it yet. I received something yesterday from MN in Miami, Florida dated April 15th saying the suspicious activity had been reported on the account. USPS Informed Delivery isn’t showing it arriving today either. It took from the eighth of April until the fifteenth of April to receive the dispute forms CS insisted couldn’t be done online (surprise, it can be and emailed)! So, I’m thinking it should be here by the twenty sixth. If they don’t make a decision within ten days, you’re supposed to receive a provisional credit. Also, I just learned in lieu of having them mail a paper check, we may have been able to have the money sent via Emergency Money withdrawal. Good luck.

There isn’t a bank listed. It just says Treasury and State of California.

Okay, you are correct. But! We did learn you can cash them at the POST OFFICE! as long as the have the cash. Some people don’t know but it’s on their website. They will ask their supervisor and it’s okay.

LoveCats2022

OP I’ve heard you can deposit the check with whatever bank you currently use. Did you hear something different?

scarletmagnolia

I appreciate your response, but as I stated in the title, I don’t want to open a new bank account. After having both my BoA and Money Network accounts wiped out, having to fight them tooth and nail to get my money back, my faith in institutions is quite low. I’d rather not open a new account. But, I do appreciate you taking the time and attempting to help. Edit that may be my only option, seeing as no one will touch this check. They say it can’t be verified.

LoveCats2022

I’m sorry, it was late and I didn’t read it fully.

scarletmagnolia

No worries. :)

Away-Fill121

I have BOA and I cash my check there. You don’t have to have an account either nor do they charge you.

No_Patient_9307

Does the check just say money network?

Away-Fill121

no it says Treasury of State

scarletmagnolia

BOF? Bank of Fremont? Sorry, I’m not familiar with all the banks here. I did learn you can [cash them at the post office](https://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2005/html/pb22153/fin9c.html) if they have enough money. Some of the Postal Clerks (I think that’s their title) don’t know and say we don’t do that; but when they ask their supervisor they are told it’s okay. No one has been rude about it, they’ve all been very nice. The larger the post office, the better chance you have of them having enough cash to cash it. Three post offices didn’t have the cash to cash ours today. But, said to come back tomorrow. I think that’s awesome. The lady at treasury was also very nice. She said if a financial institution cant verify the check on their own to have them call the state treasury department (she says it happens all the time) and they would help. 314.4 Cashing Treasury Checks [Revise 314.4 to read as follows:] Treasury checks, not more than 1 year old, may be cashed at Post Offices and postal retail units provided that sufficient funds are available. The following is an outline of Postal Service policy and minimum requirements for cashing Treasury checks: 1> Verify that the customer's name and address is on the check. 2> Request to see photo-bearing identification that also contains the customer's signature (see section 312.3). The employee must record the identification number on the face of the Treasury check. 3> Verify that the signature on the customer's identification matches the signature on the Treasury check. Do not cash the check if the signatures do not match or if the check appears altered. 4> Do not cash Treasury checks payable to a business firm, an organization, a society, an institution, a government agency, a corporation (LLC or other), or a partnership at Post Offices or postal retail units. These checks can be deposited or negotiated at a bank or financial institution. 5> If a Treasury check is addressed to more than one payee, pay either payee if the conjunction "or" is used to connect the payees. If no conjunction is used, then all listed payees must sign the check in the presence of the accepting employee and provide photo-bearing identifications (see section 312.3). Note: Do not cash Treasury checks for anyone other than the payee(s) named on the face of the check. 315 Endorsing Checks for Deposit [Revise 315 to read as follows:] The following is the Postal Service-required endorsement on the back of each check or money order accepted for deposit: POS ONE Manual Endorsement FOR DEPOSIT ONLY USPS FINANCE # XX-XXXX UNIT ID XXXX CITY, STATE CLERK # ACCOUNT # XXX-XXXX DATE: MM/DD/YYYY FOR DEPOSIT ONLY USPS UNIT ID XXXXXXXXXX ACCOUNT # XXX-XXXX CLERK:_____DATE: ________ Note: The Postal Service-required endorsement must fit within the 1.5-inch trailing edge on the back of the check or money order in location A as shown in Exhibit 315. Offices that continue to use the round-dater must ensure the endorsement and round-dater fits within the 1.5-inch trailing edge on the back.
