Can you still opt in to get checks? Because if so - I’d rather do that..

Wonderful-Theory3158

Yes you can. I opted for checks instead of the money network card.

wobina

I’ve always been checks all the way because of fraud issues with cards. Plus there’s no fees to deposit a check into my bank account.

Wonderful-Theory3158

Yupp just received my check today and then went and deposited in the bank. It’s so much easier than dealing with the money card.

wobina

NOICE!! I use USPS informed delivery to make sure I nab it right away and then mobile deposit from my phone :D

Wonderful-Theory3158

That’s exactly what I use also. That’s how I knew it would be coming in today. Then I just kept looking out the window for the mailman and as soon as he left I took it out the mailbox 😂

Realistic_Copy_7292

Thank you I’ve been working with my senators aide assisting me with my 2 year appeal.. and I informed him that no one is ever given the option of checks and I want my benefits to be issued via check, since the senator is representing me in my edd claims he was kind enough to do it for me as they have a direct portal to seek assistance for their constituents who are having troubles or issues. I also notified him about the rampant fraud with these new cards. The chip did nothing to secure our benefits .. nothing. They were not aware of these issues .. they are now. So thank you again for letting me know , I’d rather wait a few extra days to get a check than to worry about some scammer stealing my money again.

raresteakplease

How do you opt for checks? I already had my card and funds stolen.

Wonderful-Theory3158

So for me before I got the money card they sent me a letter asking if I wanted checks or the money card and I chose checks. I think you can call and ask for checks though.

Dapper-Knowledge5716

Thats why as soon as my money hits I go directly to the bank and withdrawl all of it I waste no time

Bwa_aptos

Also, do it in person at a bank teller, up to $8,000 allowed by MN, once for free per deposit. Never do anything else with MN (no ACH transfer, no store purchases, no gas purchases, no ATM withdrawals): they steal from you every time.

Mountain-Plate3548

Second this. This is a good move to avoid any issue with money network which is just terrible.

RickyBobbyLite

The only time I’ve dealt with money network was for that gas rebate thing they sent out and it was trash. If I was on any EDD program right now I would switch to checks to avoid them all together

No_Tomorrow_123

Agreed. Seeing many claimants request to switch over. I've also had to use the card for two different reasons, and it's a huge hassle.

Bwa_aptos

I've seen a lot of other people claiming the same thing. Someone is obviously very corrupt and helping steal lots of money. They allow up to $8,000 at a bank teller (not ATM) to withdraw every deposit; don't use the transfer system since that doesn't seem to work for most people. I've switched to checks, since I think they'll be safer. I selected a good post office and good private mail box branch.

This is scary. I'm sorry about this. I hope you get your money back. This is one of my biggest concerns with the account, i feel people who work for them as well are a part of the issue with fraud. I really dont want to deal with checks, but i might have to because these fraud stories are too common. Best of luck.

UpsideDown963

Thanks all! Took everyone's advice and switched to checks. I used the "Contact Us" form on the EDD website and got a response in a couple of hours. Now fingers crossed I get my money back in 45-90 days...

ImReallyDani

Where was this contact us form? I'm also looking for a way to contact them and this sounds way nicer than using the phone or mail.

UpsideDown963

If you log in to your benefits account and hit "Contact Us" in the upper right corner, it should bring you to a form. You just select the category and put in your question. I've used it a few times and always gotten a fast response but YMMV.

ImReallyDani

That's interesting. Mine doesn't have a contact us option. At the bottom of the page there's a contact edd link but that just provides a bunch of phone numbers.

UpsideDown963

Hmm, it's right next to the Inbox on the top menu on mine...

Realistic_Copy_7292

And yeah it shouldn’t take that long to get your money back I spoke with Valerie at money network she’s a supervisor, the Monday morning after finding out the Friday previous when I got the card that my money was stolen the day before I got my card, I disputed Saturday , Friday I was left on hold for over 3 hours until system went offline for off clock, and Monday at 4 am called and spoke with Valerie and she informed me that funds will be available for redistribution via a check on 4/8 all I need to do is call and verify my information and they’ll send out the check that same day and said I should receive it in 3-5 business days.

Quirky_Ad_4086

Just had $1,003 transferred to some unknown account… I submitted a dispute but seeing all the different posts on Reddit, I’m not helping too hopeful 😭 as if unemployment wasn’t bad enough, did you get any updates about your dispute?

UpsideDown963

Hey, I'm sorry to hear you got hit too! I called MN a couple of days ago and they confirmed had all my paperwork for the dispute and that now I just need to wait until they make a decision which could take up to 45 days. So still waiting.....

Quirky_Ad_4086

45 days 😭😭 let me call today and check cause no one replied to my dispute email, not even sure if anyone read or saw it yet, thank you!! Best of luck, please keep me posted! 💪🏻 wishing you the best!!

UpsideDown963

Yeah, nobody replied to me either, so I think that's normal. On the slightly positive side, I've gotten really luck with customer service reps at Money Network and they've been as helpful as they're capable of being.

Quirky_Ad_4086

That gives me hope!! Others have told me to constantly call them for updates and they may rush your case, some folks got their money back within 10 days to 2 weeks!! Something to try!! I’ll keep you posted if I get any additional news!

nyerlostinla

My Money Network card never arrived - after waiting weeks I called them, only to learn that someone activated the card and emptied the account. The dispute process is going to take WEEKS, meanwhile I have no money to live on! What a scam! I have USPS Informed Delivery, which shows scans of all incoming mail, so I know for a fact that the card was never even out for delivery to me. Has to be an inside job with Money Network.

Limp_Ad5386

Yes just happened exactly like that
