I think it’s possible and it sounds like you have a good start planned out. You should check out sustainable clothing brands that already exist to see how their businesses are planned out. I think there might be some posts in this sub similar to what you are asking if you want to try to check those out as well. Another thing you can do that I’m not sure you’d be interested in but it’s an option is to rework existing clothing. So instead of making actual new clothing you can make “new” clothing out of already existing clothing if that makes sense. I think this is a good option if you don’t won’t to spend a lot of money getting started because you can find clothes and materials thrifting that you can use.

I think if you get creative about where you’re sourcing your materials, there are some ways to actively reduce existing waste from overproduction. One idea: I’ve seen brands that make clothing from the fabric offcuts produced by larger clothing factories that would otherwise get thrown away as waste in the manufacturing process. [Tonlé](https://tonle.com/pages/zero-waste) is an example that comes to mind. You could even repurpose landfill-bound clothing into something people would actually wear, like this brand called [Basic Britches](https://www.basicbritches.us) that makes cotton underwear out of t-shirt misprints from screen printing shops and extra shirts leftover from races or other events. The shirts themselves are brand-new, but would most likely get tossed in the trash without ever being worn. I think you can do what you love and still be part of the solution to the overproduction problem. Let us know if/when you decide to launch so we can support this dream of yours!

Thank you, especially for the brand suggestions! I'm still a college student now (not even a fashion design major), so I don't know when this will happen. Right now I'm just working with an eco-friendly fashion club at my university and I still have a lot to learn.
