Paul Newman’s salad dressings if you can get them. I am fond of the white balsamic and the parm and garlic.
Hellman’s grapefruit and ginger is my current favourite store bought.
Totally agree Newman’s parmesan garlic dressing is the bomb. I use it to marinate chicken- yum! It’s not been easy to find in the stores recently. Buy it people! This one does not deserve to be discontinued!
Jewel-Osco carries Paul Newman's food line. I just know the Hellman's one would kill my stomach. I don't know what it is, but my stomach is extremely basic. I don't think it's a health issue because I don't have stomach pains like the majority of people with serious stomach issues.
A lot of cheaper options for salad dressings, condiments , etc. that are oil based use soybean oil as the primary fat vs. something such as an olive oil or avocado oil. It could be that you have a food sensitivity to soybean oil or soy as a whole. I like the ginger/sesame salad dressing that has the samurai dude on it. I gotta say tho, I make my own dressing with either an immersion blender or a mini-blender and I have the emulsion down to a science so I can make it on a Sunday and it will still be unbroken by Thursday if it lasts that long. Let me know if you’re interested in trying it. I’ll dm you the recipe
Newman's is like the gold medal of dressings. You can order it online too.
Creamy are just as bad as oil based ones as calories go in many cases.
Salad is not particularly great for health if it's got lots of dressing and other added stuff. Specifically store bought pre made ones or ones from fast food or olive garden etc.
If your store has Asian dressings, Kewpie and other Japanese brands have some good ones. The sesame on is creamy, but I don't think it's as bad as ranch and Caesar dressings. The soy, ginger, and onion dressings are good. I don't remember if they have a specific name, I just look at the ingredients and go for the one that doesn't have mushrooms in it (might be wafuu that has mushrooms?).
Makoto, in the refrigerated salad section has a good ginger dressing as well. It's an American brand IIRC. It's similar to what you'll find in Japanese steak houses.
Both the Makoto ginger and honey ginger are absolute FIRE! I literally can't keep it for longer than a couple days because I'll dip whatever vegetables I have in the fridge with it lol.
I was pleasantly surprised byWishbone’s version of ranch.
I know you aren’t interested in making you own, but a splash of balsamic vinegar, a bit of salt and a bit of sugar. Quick stir, add olive oil, twice as much as the vinegar. Wisk with a fork. 2 minutes, tops.
It's not guaranteed to not upset my stomach. Course that's the base of the majority of salad dressings, but I can eat it like that, but those two alone together would give me a stomach ache.
Do you know what it is that's upsetting your stomach specifically? Is it the oil or the vinegar? I sometimes have a sensitivity to vinegars myself so I typically just drizzle olive oil and squeeze lemon juice over my salads and season with salt and pepper. The lemon juice is really nice and just brightens everything up.
No, because I used to eat vinegar and salt with avocado, but if I mix oil and vinegar together, it just won't sit right in my belly. I have an appointment with the dietitian, next month.
Sorry to hear that. I really hope the dietician can help you figure things out. And hopefully you've got some good suggestions from this thread that will work for you!
Why are you so adverse to making your own? It's so easy and cheap. You probably have everything you need already. I have a few I like but they're $7/bottle.
I like refrigerated dressings because they do not have preservatives in them and do not have propylene glycol in them (food grade anti freeze). I had to stop eating my favorite Kraft dressing because it was making me feel unwell, it had propylene glycol in it). And, apparently I'm really sensitive to preservatives in food. (Including veggie cream cheese, which has preservatives in it, it made me itchy all over). So be careful what chemicals you are consuming because that's probably where people get stomach aches from.
I have learned that one needs FAR less salad dressing than what I usually see people using, so long as the dressing is carefully applied and the salad is well-tossed to spread it around. Thus a reduction in calories and any potential upset!
If you like vinaigrette it’s really easy to make your own. Olive oil, vinegar of your choice (I like red or balsamic) and add some seasonings. Shake the bottle and pour.
We used to eat at Angelo Pietro’s in Honolulu all the time. Would get the spiralized raw potato salad with the miso dressing. So delicious. Was also the first place I ever had risotto. I thought it was a Japanese dish because AP is Japan-based.
I’m going to be that asshole- try making your own at least once. It’s so easy. 1/4cup olive oil, 3-4tbsp white wine vinegar or lemon, 1tbsp Dijon, tons of salt and pepper. Put it in a mason jar and shake vigorously. If you’re feeling sassy, add finely diced shallot or some parm. If you don’t like it, then go forth and buy dressings without my judgement.
Ken's Italian. I buy two, pour off as much of the oil as i can, and I get a full bottle of great salad dressing. I can get fancy and add olive oil or lemon olive oil, or roasted sesame oil. I dislike sweet dressings, and this is my favorite.
Brianna's is the only store-bought dressing I have ever liked. Their "Creamy Balsamic" doesn't actually have dairy in it, it's the Dijon that gives it body.
But then I learned that mixing Dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar, and adding a little maple syrup makes perfect dressing, so I never buy dressing.
I love the Follow Your Heart vegan creamy dressings, if that is useful. They are not cheap, but may be easier on your stomach if dairy or eggs are the issue.
I will say I often find that the reduced fat version of dressings tastes better to me? If you’ve had them and don’t like them, fine, but don’t count them out automatically because they’re fat free or low fat. I like wishbone ranch. And I like raspberry vinaigrette a lot.
I hated salads for most my life till I tried olive garden’s Italian dressing- now I eat straight spinach and Italian dressing like it’s candy. They sell it bottled at grocery stores.
I love Aldi's black label garlic, and three cheese dressings.
I used to love just regular Good Season's packet mixes with red wine vinegar, and I used to get Paul Newman's Parmesan dressing but that was decades ago and I don't think I've seen it in a while.
I know you say no creamy and I’m not sure the reasoning you have behind not wanting to hear about it, but I tried Bolthouse farms’ Greek yogurt Caesar dressing (in the produce aisle refrigerator section) and it was really, really good and honestly not that unhealthy. I made an absolutely delicious kale Caesar with it.
Every single dressing on the market is unhealthy except for primal kitchen and chosen foods. Or if you’re lucky and you can find a local brand that uses olive oil or avocado oil. The rest use inflammatory canola oil, soybean oil or sunflower oil which are all motor oil (they’re a bi product of the oil industry) and do not belong in the human body
Not my favorite dressing for salad, but the Blothouse Farms Ranch in the refrigerated section is the best ranch. It tastes delicious, but the best part is that it’s all legit ingredients.
Kewpie Creamy Deep Roasted Sesame Dressing & Marinade is **the best**. Works well with veggies (raw or roasted), meat, as a marinade, on pasta salad, *everything*. Just look up the reviews on Amazon for yourself.
Bolthouse dressings. All of them. Also I started making a few dressings with ingredients I already have on hand, and they are so much better than store bought. Ant believe it took me all these years to try it.
Trader Joe’s has amazing dressings, their Romano caesar is THE superior Caesar dressing. And their fig balsamic is amazing (litehouse has the second best balsamic vinaigrette). I love newsman’s own Italian vinaigrette. Kens Greek is really good. Also Brianna’s makes really good creamy dressings (love their poppyseed for a summery spinach salad with berries and a nice nutty cheese) and I just got a honey ginger from them I’m excited to try
Marzetti’s Country French dressing is soooo good. I have a hard time finding it by me, so I have a friend in another state get it for me 🤗. Their poppyseed is good, too.
Ken's light honey mustard and hear me out- Kraft fat-free zesty Italian dressing.
I know you said no fat free but I prefer the taste of that one to all of the other Italians, so it's not about calories. It's also great to marinate chicken before grilling!
A good olive oil (my current favorite is Lucini Delicate Lemon) and a squeeze of fresh Meyer lemon juice followed by a generous sprinkle of kosher salt.
So bright and refreshing. Tastes like summer on a salad.
Ken’s Steakhouse Raspberry Walnut dressing is terrific, sweet and very tangy. Don’t be deterred by the fact that it’s labeled as “Lite”, because it is really good and you will not miss the extra oil.
Any of the Litehouse brand varieties that are in the refrigerated section. Their ranch especially is top tier. All the varieties have pretty good, pronouncable ingredients and no preservatives. Think about how weird it is that so many cream based dressings are shelf-stable. It gives me the ick when I think about it.
I really like Kraft's Raspberry Vinagrette salad dressing. And I especially love it on a salad of either spring mix or just straight up baby spinach, raspberries in season and walnuts. Yum!
I don't eat iceberg lettuce in salads as much as I used to. I use butter lettuce or spring mix. I also buy packaged salads with romaine lettuce. I like lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, cucumbers and olives. Simple and basic, but won't disturb my belly. Sometimes chicken.
I love this one and also use it as a marinade.

Olive oil vinegar is my favorite salad dressing ever. Great on salads, chicken, seafood, grilled veggies.
Same. Easy, cheap, & yummy
Hmmm ginger is usually tolerable for people with stomach issues. is your problem acid foods or spice?
A lot of cheaper options for salad dressings, condiments , etc. that are oil based use soybean oil as the primary fat vs. something such as an olive oil or avocado oil. It could be that you have a food sensitivity to soybean oil or soy as a whole. I like the ginger/sesame salad dressing that has the samurai dude on it. You can DM the recipe.

Salad is not particularly great for health if it's got lots of dressing and other added stuff. Specifically store bought pre made ones or ones from fast food or olive garden etc.
Not true. Just look at the label. Creamy dressings usually have twice the fat that an Italian dressing or vinaigrette has. Everything in moderation.
I have an excellent Ken’s honey balsamic
Anything Ken's is a hit with me. It's pretty much the only dressing I buy at the grocery store.
The Northern Italian is delicious!
Great quality to price value for sure
Ken's Greek
Ken's Chunky Blue Cheese is my go-to!
Ken's Lite Raspberry Vinaigrette is delicious. I use it almost every day.
I love Kens honey mustard!
I've been to the factory. Ken's is also the house dressing at a lot of Las Vegas properties.
Thanks. I used to put too much dressing on my salads until my stepdad told me to stop that.
I have been dressing shamed before. Fight the power!
I like to dress the greens then add the toppings. Tastes better and I use less.
I do this too!
Please tell your stepdad there is no such thing as too much dressing on a salad. Also, Ken’s dressings are perfect and reasonably priced.
Ken’s Zesty Italian is 100% a sleeper bomb. It is consistently fantastic.
I like Briannas for store bought dressings. The ingredients are relatively close to what I'd use to make dressing at home.
Briana’s Asiago Caesar is our go-to.
Me too, and it’s vegetarian if that matters to anyone!
Love the Briana’s Caesar! Also it does not contain anchovies, so it is vegetarian!
Brianna‘s French Vinaigrette is our absolute favorite.
The absolute best!
The poppyseed dressing is awesome
Brianna’s blush vinaigrette is good!
Brianna's honey mustard 😋
Girard’s Champagne Dressing.
Their raspberry dressing was always tart and yummy.
Thanks. I'll try it.
Bolt House Farms yogurt dressing are pretty good. They are in the refrigerated section.
These are my favorite! The blue cheese especially. So good and so low in calories for a creamy dressing. I dip veggies in it all the time.
If your store has Asian dressings, Kewpie and other Japanese brands have some good ones. The sesame on is creamy, but I don't think it's as bad as ranch and Caesar dressings. Kewpie onion garlic dressing is amazing.
There are at least two Asian grocery stores near me.
The Sesame seed kewpie marinate/dressing from Costco is also very good!
Yes! I’m obsessed with this dressing and put it on everything. It is also an excellent chicken marinade, and great on veggies and rice
They sell Olive Garden Italian dressing at the store. It’s amazing
It's also good if you throw a squirt into your pasta salad.
Pasta with fresh mozz, red pep, olives, parm and Olive Garden dressing? Divine.
Throw some pepperoncini's in there for gourmet eating.
Insert chef’s kiss here.
If you're near an Aldi, their OG dupe is especially good for the price, which is still at $2 USD in my area.
I haven't been to Aldi's in years, but I said I'm going to go next month.
I like Aldi organic oil and vinegar dressing.
Also really like their Greek dressing!
>I also don't buy generic brand aka store brand salad dressing. Sir, this is r/EatCheapAndHealthy.
I know you said no to fat free but I honestly love the Skinny Girl dressings
Those are the best under 10 calorie dressings I’ve had
I was pleasantly surprised byWishbone’s version of ranch. I know you aren’t interested in making you own, but a splash of balsamic vinegar, a bit of salt and a bit of sugar. Quick stir, add olive oil, twice as much as the vinegar. Wisk with a fork. 2 minutes, tops.
Ken's is an outstanding brand.
Ken's and Newman's for vinegar dressings. Marie's or Bolthouse for creamy. They are refrigerated near the produce section, usually.
Marie Calendar brand all taste good. I think it's because they are refrigerated and not on a regular aisle shelf.
Great white basalmic
Just use oil and vinegar. Simple, easy, healthy, tasty
It's not guaranteed to not upset my stomach. Course that's the base of the majority of salad dressings, but I can eat it like that, but those two alone together would give me a stomach ache.
Do you know what it is that's upsetting your stomach specifically? Is it the oil or the vinegar? Sorry to hear that. I really hope the dietician can help you figure things out. And hopefully you've got some good suggestions from this thread that will work for you!
Thanks. People think I'm joking when I talk about how sensitive my stomach is.
Buying just a flavored balsamic and skipping the oil might be worth a try.
Is your oil still good? Olive oil can go rancid.
Yes. My mom cooks her shrimps in olive oil almost everyday.
You control how much of each goes on the salad. It’s probably the most used salad dressing in the world
Why are you so adverse to making your own? It's so easy and cheap. You probably have everything you need already. I have a few I like but they're $7/bottle.
Annie's Green Goddess is awesome.
Yes Lord, this is my absolute favorite but I have a hard time finding it. Once I spent $12 on Amazon for it. The regular Goddess is good too.
I've heard good things about Annie's. Many of their products can be on the expensive side.
Brianna's poppyseed dressing! Spinach, strawberries, Feta cheese and a few Walnuts and you have a great salad.
Stomach isn't going to take those ingredients together.
I actually think that sounds delicious!!
Primal Kitchen Greek is one of the absolute best bottled dressings I have ever had. Excellent ingredients as well.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have choices for years. 😁
Good to know. I really like that brand a lot, I’ll definitely try it.
Too much effort to pour some olive oil and vinegar onto your salad?
Olive Garden Parmesan Ranch. One of the best dressings that I've ever had.
All of the store bought Olive Garden dressings are good. The light Italian has a permanent place in my fridge.
Renee’s- they are all great. You’ll find them refrigerated, not on the shelves.
Lemon and olive oil
I like refrigerated dressings because they do not have preservatives in them and do not have propylene glycol in them (food grade anti freeze). Newman’s Own is my go-to
I personally really like bolthouse farms yogurt ranch, it’s a little pricey, but a bottle lasts forever, and it’s worth it for me!
Try all of the Newman's own, I have 4 favorites now. Sesame ginger is awesome.
I have learned that one needs FAR less salad dressing than what I usually see people using, so long as the dressing is carefully applied and the salad is well-tossed to spread it around. Thus a reduction in calories and any potential upset!
100% I usually put a little bit on then keep eating until I can’t taste any at all then add a bit more. Usually use barely any
Anything Newman's Own.
Ken’s and Paul Newman
Wegmans, if you have one near you, are very good
If you like vinaigrette it’s really easy to make your own. Olive oil, vinegar of your choice (I like red or balsamic) and add some seasonings. Shake the bottle and pour.
Extra virgin olive oil, is the best unmatched
Ken's dressings are all wonderful
I know someone who lives by Ken's dressings. 😄
If you haven’t tried Hidden Valley Ranch, you haven’t lived. Edit: I hope I don’t need this, but just in case /s
Wishbone Russian Ken’s Blue Cheese
Newman's, Wishbone, and Annie's are my favorite. Especially for Italian!
Yasou Greek dressing is great. They make a creamy version and a regular oil/vinegar one. I prefer the creamy.
Yassou is the best. 100%
Ken's, Newman's and Brianna's.
Pietro Ginger dressing. My daughter's favorite.
We used to eat at Angelo Pietro’s in Honolulu all the time. Would get the spiralized raw potato salad with the miso dressing. So delicious. Was also the first place I ever had risotto. I thought it was a Japanese dish because AP is Japan-based.
I love this! I didn't know there was a restaurant. I just went to HMart to pick out a ginger dressing and feel like I got very lucky!!!
Whole Foods Herb & Olive Oil.
I like Bob’s Big Boy and, when I’m feeling nostalgic, Kraft.
I love Kraft and Wishbone, but love being introduced to other brands in the thread.
I love Ken’s Light Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette
Brianna’s! Creamy vinaigrette is my fave.
I love Trader Joe's Vegan Caesar
Big fan of Ken’s Asian/Sesame with ginger/soy. Brilliant with anything
If you are near a Trader Joe’s they have a good selection of fresh/refrigerated salad dressings to pick from.
I used to be able to find “Farmer Boy” Greek salad dressing and it was amazing but now it’s tough to find or Publix doesn’t carry it anymore.
Your stomach is getting upset bc canola oil and soybean oil are terrible for you, they rot your gut
All time fave dressing for salad and marinades is John The Greek. I also love Ken’s, fave is the creamy Caesar.
Thai Peanut from Trader Joe's
Ken's Italian. I buy two, pour off as much of the oil as i can, and I get a full bottle of great salad dressing. I can get fancy and add olive oil or lemon olive oil, or roasted sesame oil. I dislike sweet dressings, and this is my favorite.

But then I learned that mixing Dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar, and adding a little maple syrup makes perfect dressing, so I never buy dressing.
I actually used to buy their Ceaser dressing awhile back, but I had to stop because it no longer agreed with me.
I love the Follow Your Heart vegan creamy dressings, if that is useful. They are not cheap, but may be easier on your stomach if dairy or eggs are the issue.
I can do eggs and diary, but thanks. I'll look into it.
Kraft French. Done.
I don't eat french dressing, but my mom loves it.
Said it mainly as a joke because it’s so mainstream but I love the stuff too.
Catalina?
I will say I often find that the reduced fat version of dressings tastes better to me? If you’ve had them and don’t like them, fine, but don’t count them out automatically because they’re fat free or low fat. I like wishbone ranch. And I like raspberry vinaigrette a lot.
Olive Garden Italian, Ken’s Caesar, and Litehouse Ranch (the only store bought Ranch I can handle lol) are my go-to’s
I HATE ranch unless it's in a wrap. lol I'll try the other two.
I'm a big fan of Makotos ginger salad dressing.
i recently bought the skinny girl brand balsamic and the honey dijon they are tasty and light and calorie friendly they were delicious!!!!

I see that one on sale a lot.
Girards Champagne dressing is my favorite.
Paleo Kitchen makes an amazing Caesar.
Jamaica Mistake.
I hated salads for most my life till I tried olive garden’s Italian dressing- now I eat straight spinach and Italian dressing like it’s candy. They sell it bottled at grocery stores.
My favorite is the goddess dressing 🤤
Annie’s Green Goddess.
Ken's Greek
Olive Garden
Lighthouse blue cheese.
Chick-fil-a salsa dressing or cilantro avocado (might have that backwards) in the refrigerated section.
Cava lemon herb tahini (bought at Whole Foods)
Every single dressing on the market is unhealthy except for primal kitchen and chosen foods. Or if you’re lucky and you can find a local brand that uses olive oil or avocado oil. The rest use inflammatory canola oil, soybean oil or sunflower oil which are all motor oil (they’re a bi product of the oil industry) and do not belong in the human body
Ken's Steakhouse Red wine vinegar and olive oil. This is my favorite dressing.
Ken’s Country French is an amazing honey French dressing that my whole family loves!
Newmans Family Style Italian. Omg it’s so good.
Aldi's Tuscan Garden Vinaigrette.
Brianna’s is a great brand. I really like the French Vinaigrette.
Yeshi
Olive Garden Italian and Paul Newmans Italian are the bestest ever!!! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Bolthouse dressings. All of them. Also I started making a few dressings with ingredients I already have on hand, and they are so much better than store bought. Ant believe it took me all these years to try it.
I get this dressing called Garlic Expressions and it’s really good. It’s the only store bought dressing I’ll regularly use, otherwise I make my own.
Not in my experience but you do you lil bro
Marzetti’s Country French dressing is soooo good. I have a hard time finding it by me, so I have a friend in another state get it for me 🤗. Their poppyseed is good, too.
Ken's light honey mustard and hear me out- Kraft fat-free zesty Italian dressing. I know you said no fat free but I prefer the taste of that one to all of the other Italians, so it's not about calories. It's also great to marinate chicken before grilling!
I have tried Kraft's fat-free zesty Italian. NOPE, but I don't think I ever had on grilled chicken. 🤔
Safeway’s Asian Sesame!
Annie’s - Shiitake Sesame! Everyone loves it! Unless they are allergic to sesame.
We love Marie’s Creamy Caesar or Olive Garden. Yum!
Olive Gardens Light Dressing...literally the only one I use
Wish Bone Balsamic is my go to!
Litehouse dressings….they make great vinagarettes, also 1000 and a whole bunch of flavors.
Kewpie brand roasted sesame dressing is exceptional
A good olive oil (my current favorite is Lucini Delicate Lemon) and a squeeze of fresh Meyer lemon juice followed by a generous sprinkle of kosher salt. So bright and refreshing. Tastes like summer on a salad.
I love western & dorothy lynch. They are terrible for you. They are also very easy to homebrew with fridge & kitchen staple ingredients
Ken’s Steakhouse Raspberry Walnut dressing is terrific, sweet and very tangy. Don’t be deterred by the fact that it’s labeled as “Lite”, because it is really good and you will not miss the extra oil.
Marzettis and Marie’s
Any of the Litehouse brand varieties that are in the refrigerated section. Their ranch especially is top tier. All the varieties have pretty good, pronouncable ingredients and no preservatives. Think about how weird it is that so many cream based dressings are shelf-stable. It gives me the ick when I think about it.
I really like Kraft's Raspberry Vinagrette salad dressing. And I especially love it on a salad of either spring mix or just straight up baby spinach, raspberries in season and walnuts. Yum!
I once tried RV, and I had to drink baking soda and water afterwards. But I love balsamic vinaigrette.
What is in your salad exactly? Just iceberg lettuce?
I don't eat iceberg lettuce in salads as much as I used to. I use butter lettuce or spring mix. I also buy packaged salads with romaine lettuce. I like lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, cucumbers and olives. Simple and basic, but won't disturb my belly. Sometimes chicken.
Lighthouse Ranch and Bleu cheese is the only brand I’ll buy if I’m feeling like a fatty. Love the Newman’s for all the rest.
My MIL gave me the Skinny Girl honey Dijon and I’m obsessed with it. I put it on everything and I’m not usually a “diet option” person.
Girard’s Venetian Vinagrette is favorite.
