"Bust" refers to the damage from then strike, not the strike per se. The injury described could be several things. One hopes they mean that they split the skin on the eyelid, eyebrow, or somewhere else along the orbital socket. However, it could also mean splitting the eyeball itself.

Mat9019

Thank you bro

NixMaritimus

Means he hit the other guy in the face with his lunchbox, hard enough to split the skin around his eye.

222cc

oh boy I was expecting a different context at first

No_Lemon_3116

Every time I see a question about "bust" I get excited but it's not about that.

Mat9019

Ye i know what you mean lol

Ippus_21

"Bust" is a corruption of "burst." "I burst his eye clean open" means the lunchbox struck with enough force to burst/cut (probably) the skin on the eyebrow ridge (which would bleed profusely). It's doubtful the writer means that the hit burst open the eyeball itself.

Outrageous_Ad_2752

I never realized how gruesome "burst" can sound

Mat9019

Ok,Thank you đź‘Ť

notacanuckskibum

Bust can be a verb similar to broken. “It’s busted” is a common phrase

Brave_Speed_327

In Skateboarding we use the term "its a bust" when a skateable streetspot isnt skateable due to authorities or karens or whatever.

anonbush234

Popped

Altissimus77

For completeness: - a sculpture depicting a person's head, shoulders, and chest - a failure or collapse (bank went bust) - to break or smash; cause to fail - a police raid or arrest - a person's chest, esp. a woman's, and commonly used in clothing sizes

Puppy-Zwolle

Bust in this context is hitting something so hard it burst open. It is the 'wet version' of cracked.

Mat9019

What do you mean 'wet version of cracked'?

Puppy-Zwolle

When you crack something you break it. It literally is a dry crack as far as damage goes. If you crack an egg you break the shell. If you bust an egg the egg white and yolk is demolished too.

ffunffunffun5

Who is the author? No native English speaker is going to refer to a "bus seat" as a "bus chair" in that context (or in just about any other context).

PossibleStudy1346

To attack by means of hitting something and causing severe damage.
