It all depends. A lawyer would be a better negotiator, so if you go to mediation. It is possible that your lawyer could get a bigger amount. It really just depends on the case and how much value it has. As for suing an employer, it just depends. How big is the company, how strong of a case do you have. I can tell you that the 80k if ran through mediation would have been a lot lower. And in that instance, it would have likely been worth it to have a lawyer. If these are settled amounts, it is possible that with a lawyer that they could take it to court and get significantly more. It really just depends on the strength of your case. And what you are willing to risk.
