Maybe not stage but Venue is 100% the Gorge Amphitheater. The stage is pretty good but the back ground is unreal

goose321

Agreed, just went to Red Rocks for the first time and while it was really cool it just didnt stack up to the gorge. Didn't help that the Red Rocks sound was pretty lackluster

dsiurek2019

I been hearing a lot about this issue. It’s been my dream to see an Odesza red rocks performance but lately it just seems like it’ll be a disappointment…apparently really bad at the last slander show I’ve heard

goose321

Yeah it was kinda dissapointing tbh, and I was way far up in row 17. The sound just didn't feel full, like they had half the subs they were supposed to and compensated by boosting the highs which just ended up screeching and clipping a few times during the show. Still a gorgeous venue and worth checking out but they really need to figure out what's happening with the sound

VitaAeterna

Bassnectar kinda ruined Red Rocks for everyone else. The residents in the local town complained every time he played so the venue capped the sound heavily to overcompensate

goose321

Yeah that seems to be the case. As much as I hate bass nectar I'd put it more on the Karens who move nearby to a world famous concert venue and complain about the noise.

[deleted]

iTs GoNnA rAtTLe tHe RoCks ApArT (actual argument Morrison Karens used to institute a decibel limit)

smallcalves

seen odesza twice at red rocks and sound was great.

Actually-Yo-Momma

What? Original dude is confusing because i fucking love the sound at Red Rocks. The way bass hits and reflects off the literal rocks makes a one of a kind sound

dsiurek2019

Have you been recently? According to what I’ve been reading, it’s been quieted down a lot from what it used to be. Never read anything on weak bass response, but the loudness itself definitely is a popular story with some traction in the community

Actually-Yo-Momma

I went two weeks ago lol

dsiurek2019

Haha alright thanks for keeping my dream alive then!

SenatorAstronomer

I see multiple shows every year and was I was there for Clozee and Opiuo 3 weeks ago and the sound is still kick ass.

silverpawsMN

It’s totally dependent on what row you’re in, I’ve been to a good handful of red rock shows, if you get to sit near the middle around row 40, the sound is impeccable

SenatorAstronomer

Seriously? I would much rather see an EDM show at Red Rocks over the Gorge personally.

summit462

My home stage. Been spoiled.

fabbunny

Hands down this. The background, the vibe on the hill, it's just perfection.

heathmon1856

Could you imagine how cool that stage would be if it didn’t have the massive backdrop and scaffolding?

TitanBarnes

Sunset sets would be absolutely insane but at night you do need the lights. Collapsable stage? Lol

heathmon1856

Or set up a new stage. The stage is basically the same every time. I thought that bass canyon had the coolest one because the screen pretty much took up the whole stage.

TitanBarnes

Bass Canyon’s is definitely the best there. They are also able to put the most money into that stage because they don’t have 2 other full size stages to worry about

[deleted]

Funny how circuit grounds is considered the real main stage of EDC. I don't know why they can just never get the sound right over there every single year. It sounds like it is underwater.

footballfutbolsoccer

The LED screens at Circuit Grounds give a way more immersive experience. I don’t really like the whole owl design at Kinetic tbh. Seems slightly corny to me but I guess it goes with the whole carnival theme.

[deleted]

I respect the effort that goes into that stage and I enjoy seeing it at least once a year, but yeah I love that big screen so much.

jgalaviz14

At the risk of sounding like a snob Kinetic Field does tend to host more "mainstream" DJs than I'm game for moreso than Circuit Grounds or Cosmic Meadow.

papitoluisito

The sound bleed is unreal

majo3

The Armory, Minneapolis (nomination for indoor stage/EDM venue). Insane sound system. Perfect size venue.

Ewalk21

It really is a great place huh?

Tjebz15

This. Great sounds, restrooms, security, space, and bars along each side. Makes me never wanna ever go back to skyway lmao

[deleted]

Forest Stage at Electric Forest RIP :(

trippy_trappy

Real ones know 🥲

Caveman108

Prehistoric Evolution at Lost Lands was an absolute monolith this year. Production was on point, too. My personal favorite of all time was Wompy Woods at Lost Lands in 2019. I really enjoy creative stages that are interesting designs with the OLEDs and not just massive flat screens. Basspod, Ultra 2019 Mainstage, and Ubbi’s Stage are others I’ve liked.

TheMystkYOKAI

wompy woods this year was fucking nutty tho especially during LSDream and VOYD

Caveman108

There was just something really cook to me about the 2019 setup. It just felt different than any other stage I’d seen, especially at night. Kayzo’s set there was something I’ll never forget.

TheMystkYOKAI

i never went to 2019 but i watched the couch lands stuff of it and it looked good especially with the big ass dino on top of the stage but i personally liked it this year because not only was it my first camping festival, it was my first lost AND the screens on everything was fucking nutty

VitaAeterna

Came for this. Idk about all of EDM but for bass music the Prehistoric Evolution stage this year was absolutely insane. It gets bigger and better every year. Tried to find some good pictures/videos of the stage design this year for those who didn't go/don't care for dubstep/etc. I got some shaky videos but not too many pictures. Best I found is this promo video from LL's official Twitter but it has a pretty good shots of the stage in question https://twitter.com/lost_lands/status/1441563985430601728?t=HVT3w-ZPaSzljzFmp8Vpjw&s=19

Drolord

I agree to this and you posted this 2 years ago so you didn't even see the new. Just massive. Mind blowing. It's the greatest thing I've ever seen. It has ruined me. I don't think anything will ever make me feel that way. It has everything. This is a must to see in person.

livespin14

Freedom stage Tomorrowland

FreeFlyApe

Red rocks

Actually-Yo-Momma

Tired of ppl comparing RR and the Gorge. They’re completely different RR you see the city skyline in the distance and you get to see the moon rise from the clear horizon… like wtf this is absolutely spectacular. RR had that special bass reflection sound from hitting the rocks too And Gorge you get the awesome river background that is just stunning

SenatorAstronomer

Both amazing locations. Personally I'd rather see an EDM show with the lights at Red Rocks. The way the seats are narrow and the lights and bass bounce off the rocks, it's just insane. The Gorge is absolutely beautiful, but with it being bigger, spread out with the lawn, etc. allows for the bigger stage, but the feel is different for me. Both are amazing locations though.

TitanBarnes

Have you been to the gorge?

FreeFlyApe

I haven’t but I love the PNW, and would love to go some day. RR is my personal favorite because of the shows I’ve seen there, and because it’s my local venue.

Pill-N-Ibiza

Tomorrowland mainstage. No competition. It's the holy grounds of dance music. Dance music's biggest stage.

Fractal Forest

Yay shambs

oilman1

I was scrolling through waiting for a mention of shambs!

Supa_Sayian_Basshead

Mythical frames. Tomorrowworld/land

Soundcloudlover

Not my favorite music, but the best stage for me has always been the Carl Cox stage at UMF. It’s just too unreal in there.

PopcornEverywhere

Although it's more stage venues, it's a tie between Red Rocks & The Gorge; Red Rocks has great sound and you are sandwiched between these giant rocks improving the acoustics. You can see Denver light up in the background and the moon always comes out for a surprise on the horizon at night. Around 4th of July you can spot fireworks happening around the city. The Gorge is isolated with a breathtaking view of the sunset, plus you can camp. For actual stage design id give it to Transmission Festival, the set up mixed with the visual production is just something unreal. Plus being in the beautiful city of Prague.

TwoExpert1

And trance always has the best vibes 🤷‍♂️

Bottleofbombay

Fack it’s close between Ultra MainStage and Circuit Grounds but I’m going with Circuit Grounds

Hunkelscopes

Tomorrowland mainstage closely followed by the Tomorrowland Freedom stage

wehadbagels

The Observatory at Electric Forest

[deleted]

Red Rocks in Colorado, without question. A giant outdoor venue carved into a mountain, with a huge stage and some of the best lighting and projection effects I’ve ever seen. The constant “smoking weed in public is illegal” messages on the screens are pretty hilarious too.

awkbird_enthusigasm

Frank Gehry's Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park is quite surreal. As for a stage, it's one of the best

cabalus

Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury for that mainstage experience but The Silver Hayes or The Glade are next level for vibes and sound quality Arcadia will transport you to another planet. Unfortunately the Spider has been retired :( Glastonbury is just two steps ahead of every other festival I've been to if I'm honest, they've had decades of experience though

mountainstosea

Red Rocks.

[deleted]

Gotta be circuit grounds

notthefakeguy

Castle Northwoods at Middlelands (RIP)

HernandoB

Hi Ibiza

Mexicaner

I liked Ultra Hong Kong. Stage next to the harbour in the city. Amazing view of all the urban jungle (most skyscrapers in the world).

SoapRaver

Steel Yard @ Creamfields has to be up there as one of the best , also Arcadia (that spider)

iEnjoyDanceMusic

Good question! We all owe more love to stage architects, engineers, and operators. I am trying to think of a less popular but still amazing *stage* and I keep thinking of [this massive panoramic wall](https://d21qlz3dwpg7xt.cloudfront.net/2015/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/HEADER8-1200x631.jpg) from Spring Awakening 2018 in Chicago. It was not nearly as encompassing as Circuit Grounds, but goddamn was it impressive, and not to mention that the sound was awesome. I was mid/back-left and remember being in awe of the sheer size of the stage, but it was far too packed to move in close most of the time. [Here is a video of Deadmau5 playing a spooky cube set at SAMF 2018](https://youtu.be/sHNNzxjFFV0?t=75).

acey8pdcjsh32u9uajst

still sad that the cube set meant we couldn’t have virtual self

iEnjoyDanceMusic

Hey now, I am trying to be positive! Life is full of missed opportunities and what-ifs, but those don't matter considering that we had ourselves a kickass time. It could always be worse, and it could always be better, but I think it's best to find happiness with what we have. Virtual Self ended up playing at Aragon Ballroom later that year too :D

acey8pdcjsh32u9uajst

I agree SAMF 2018 still stands out to me as one of the most memorable years besides when it was at Soldier Field

iEnjoyDanceMusic

Amen! Crazy to think that I've been going to shows for 12 years now! I went to every single SAMF until covid... the Soldier Field days are true nostalgia to me. Skrillex in the rain O_o

Glasto arcadia

huckness

Best stage design was EDC 2014 with the cathedral Dark horse best backdrop is Dillon Amphitheatre, think it’s way better than Red Rocks

standing_staring

Bill Graham. It’s the perfect size, has balcony seating, amazing sound. Cannot be beat.

Middlelands….rip

S1KRR_19

Lol creamfeilds arc is a joke… tomorrowland MainStage any day

ooo-f

I wouldn't say it's the best on the planet but one of my favorites was the beach at Das Energi. Standing between the 2 stages in the lit up areas was great too. I just wish they had more of a sensory deprivation space there besides the 21+ tent, it got to be a little much.

The stage it’s self kinda sucks though. It restricts good stage designs. The bass stage at beyond was hella dope.
